This is an important historical document that everyone should read. Testimonies of Civil Rights Workers and everyday people who were harassed and worse for simply being in the state of Mississippi. I did find it sad that people were treated this badly and to realize that not a lot has changed. The new introduction is a good historical background and also clarifies some of the mistakes.

My apologies. I requested this book not realizing it would be unavailable in Kindle format. I have limited vision and do virtually all my reading on Kindle (much as I hate supporting Amazon) because their Oasis gives me the flexibility I beed with spacing, type size, and brightness.

George Santayana once wrote that "those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

Read this book. Find out how the Mississippi police treated these civil rights promoters. Be shocked that people are still being treated this way half a century later.

To read this book was a blessing. With the climate of the world as it is today, we need this book to remind us of what was fought for and why. The writing flows, and any book that can make me sit back and take a deep breath....to me, that is a good book. I thank all for this book and recommend everyone to read it. You will take something with you. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest review.
