Bree Watson is on an assignment that takes her into a lab by the university. They are making a new illegal drug and the young lady making the discovery is the granddaughter of the under, under secretary of the DEA. Bree has to be a student in science helping in the lab while her boss is her boy friend who is there to protect her after Hannah, the HR woman for the sale of the lab is killed. Hannah seems to have lots of secrets but then so does everyone else involved. Bree dishes up some great recipes as she tries to get to the bottom of this whole mess and find what the new drug is? Or is it a drug? Too many questions and not enough answers.

I was a little conflicted when deciding to read Shaken, not Purred. I was interested based off of the books description, but the cover and book title seemed a bit cheesy. I have to say, I am so glad I decided to read it anyway. Bree was a great herione to follow. I loved that she was strong yet relatable in her uncertainties. I liked the relationships she had with the other characters. The hero was very interesting. I loved that the author maintained humor throughout the book, as well as the suspense. I appreciated that the villain wasn't easily identifiable. I can't wait to read the next book.

I didn't realize this was the second book of a series. Maybe if I had read the first one I would have enjoyed it more. As it was I didn't much care for Bree, and couldn't understand how she ended up in her job or with the attention of the two men in her life. Further I felt like it was supposed to be funny, but it wasn't to me. I won't be looking for the next in this series.

Loved it! Not at all what I expected. I thought it would be a fluffy cozy mystery from the title and cover. Lots of undercover intrigue. Some romance. Office interactions. Murder and drugs. Cat and dog. I look forward to reading the next one in this series. Bonus recipes all sound delicious.

8 stars. This book was so original and funny that I ended up by the first book in the series and then this book on Amazon. This will be a book series that I read more than once, and each time I will find something to laugh at or just enjoy. I love the characters in this book, The author did an amazing job describing and developing every character within this story. The idea of the chemist turned spy was very intriguing. Bree is an awesome character and I love her in this series, Thank you Net Galley and Kelle Z. Riley for allowing me to read this book and write a honest review.
