This book was very middle of the road for me - it wasn't groundbreaking, yet it was informative. I appreciated the opportunity to read it, however it is not a book I think I would have picked up if I had seen it in the store and browsed through first.

I would like to thank the publisher, North Star Way Scribner an Netgalley for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I am a beginners practitioner of yoga on and off for about 4 years now. I really like yoga books and I absolutely like this one too. This book is not really about the physical part of yoga describing poses and stretches but teaches us how Yoga can help in other facets of our lives. Ms. Colon very cleverly illustrates these applications of yoga through her anecdotes off her life experiences and that of those of her beloved friends. She clearly demonstrates that yoga is for everyone even for those that are physically disabled. Hence the title "Yoga Mind. Journey beyond the Physical".

The author lead us through 30 days learning experience. For each day, she introduces a new yoga tool and teaches us how it can be applied through her real life experience and and exercise to try out the tool.
This is a great format as the reader can read and focus on daily practice.

Last but not least, through her sharing of her life experiences she provides us with tips and insights and food for thought.

I highly recommend this book!

Remember the mental relaxation and and peaceful mind you had leaving your last yoga session? Yoga Mind provides you with a 30-day step-by-step guide to relaxing your mind on a daily basis, no yoga mat needed. The mental exercises are manageable and short, meant to fit into your already busy schedule. Additionally, they can be revisited repeatedly month after month with you learning and growing each time.
Suzan Colon has done a great job interweaving her personal stories and experiences with the Yoga Mind exercises. She describes to the readers how a friend with physical limitations is still able to practice mental yoga regularly through mental exercises and meditation. Colon also shows how this relationship with her friend has inspired herself and how it can inspire you. While I have finished reading this book, I do not think I will ever really put it down. Not only will I go back to the exercises again, but the resulting peace of mind will stay with me.

As someone who has always tried to get into yoga, this was a great introductory! It had practical and easy tools.

This was a great read with lots of food for thought, I thoroughly enjoyed it. At first I was not getting into the story line as presented but then realized the point. That being that life has many challenging and tough moments and these stories were presenting that in a way to apply what was being taught. Well done and worth re-reading the lessons and concepts again.

Very interesting work! I didn't know much about yoga before, but I'm trying to learn and I think this book is very helpful.

I am disabled and I am increasingly frustrated at my slow decay of mobility, clearly I need to do something, so I have been looking into Yoga. Sadly a lot of Yoga books are written for and to people who are healthy and mobile...this has not helped with my frustration. So I was glad to find a book about the tenants and psychological aspects of yoga. If I cannot stretch my body, I can stretch my mind until I find a good guide for the physical side of Yoga.

I really enjoyed the principals of Yoga taught in the book, I found them very helpful and clearly described. A large part of the book is the tale of the author's life, I found that it fit the narrative but the book could have been fine without it. So be warned if you want your Yoga books to just be instruction and not the story of how it affected the author.

The title of this book is extremely misleading. It's more of how the author used these practices to overcome obstacles in her own life, and not so much for the reader to "enhance their practice and revolutionize their life"
