Cowboy Up by Harper Sloan is a good fit for readers looking for a heartfelt story about finding the courage to let go of past hurts and embrace the possibility of love, set in a small-town cowboy context.

From the first book in Harper Sloan’s Coming Home series, I was completely drawn in by the Davis siblings and the damage done to them by their mother’s abandonment and their father’s less than stellar parenting. Somehow despite it all the three managed to grow up, become their own people, and still have a bond so strong even when one of them was gone for years and I think that was largely due to oldest brother Clay who was determined to shield his siblings and do his best to be there for them no matter what, even though he often feels he failed them. I knew his story was going to be a challenge, Clay has some skewed views on love and marriage, but Ms. Sloan outdid herself in Cowboy Up. She not only gave Clay the happily ever after he more than deserved, she ended this series giving readers everything they want and then just to make sure gave us a bit more. Clever, sassy, emotional, sexy, and completely engaging from the first word to the last Cowboy Up was a perfect romance and the best book in this series by far (and that’s saying something because the others were really good).

Anyone who reads my reviews knows how much I enjoy when a one night stand turns into more especially when they both assume that’s all it is, one night. After a telephone call from her ex sends her reeling Caroline (Linney) Michaels wants to forget and she wants to be a bit reckless so she heads to her one of her best friend’s bar and meets her dark cowboy. A few weeks later they meet again at a baby shower and she realizes that one night stand is the man she had a crush on as a teenager and her friend’s brother. The connection they had that night left them both feeling raw and a bit off balance, but both realize they aren’t going to waste the second chance they were given.

Watching the stoic, set in his ways Clay come completely undone by a woman was outstanding! From the first book it was obvious Clay had hardened his heart and with the exception of those he called family he didn’t let anyone get close. I admired Clay for the way he took care of his brother and sister and his love of the land that had been in their family for generations. It became evident early on that his protective streak now included Caroline. Despite Caroline’s mothers apathetic raising and escaping an abusive relationship, she is a strong, capable and savvy businesswoman. I loved these two together, Caroline helped Clay to soften and showed him it was okay to open up and share his past hurts and helped him to see that his brother and sister grew up to be good people thanks to him. Clay helped Caroline understand her worth, made her feel safe, and made her understand that none of what happened to her was her fault. There was a lot of mutual admiration and respect between them and when you add in their unparalleled attraction, it was obvious these two were made for one another. What I loved most about this book is that the conflict came from outside sources, these two were solid from the start and that never wavered; there was absolute trust and truth between them always.

While this was clearly a romance between Clay and Caroline, there are many scenes with Maverick and Leighton (from book 1), and Quinn and Tate (from book 2) and readers will no doubt appreciate not only catching up with these couples, but the many scenes between the three siblings as their lives continue to change. There were so many heartfelt and sentimental moments that brought tears to my eyes and loads of emotion.

I’ve been shouting this series praises from the beginning and author Harper Sloan ends it on an extremely high note with Cowboy Up.

Sweet Lord, Harper Sloan where have you been hiding Clayton Davis?! Gimme ALL the Apple pie and dark cowboys cause this book was nothing short of amazing!

What a perfect ending to an amazing series, and that epilogue was everything I wanted to wrap up the stories of the Davis siblings and their families!

I know this is technically the last book for this series but this is Me BEGGING Harper for Luke and Lucy's stories! I NEED Them!

One of my favorites by Harper Sloan! She can write a book like no other author I know! If you want something that new and different definitely give this book a read!

Well, as much as we all loved Maverick and Quinn, I have to say that Clay Davis is most definitely the dark horse of this family. He completely came out of nowhere with his dirty birdie ways!! The man who most would call brooding and a loner, always seemed to hold his cards close to his chest, but with Caroline- everything changed. Which blew me away.
I was completely unprepared for the Clay Davis that Harper showed us in this book. It was so different than the man we had come to know in Mav and Quinn's stories. Maybe, it's because once he found his person, he could finally let go of some of the reins and be himself. He didn't have to walk around being the big brother, protector man all the time. He had almost given off the air of a hardened man to me in the previous books, so when I saw him open that heart to Lynnie (Caroline)- it was beautiful.
There was nothing that didn't fit about these two- his hard to her soft. She needed him to be the man to help pick up the pieces when her life shattered before her very eyes, and he needed her to be the woman to bring life back into his dull life. It was kismet at its finest. And that's what Harper seems to do best. She always makes the most beautiful situation from what seems to be the most impossible circumstances.
While I hate to see this series come to a close, because it was so amazingly wonderful, I do love that we got a well rounded picture of all three siblings, and the lives that they all deserved to live. The beauty that each never had in their childhood, was granted to them in spades in adulthood, and that's about all you can ask for- to end your life in pure happiness. That's what Harper Sloan gave the Davis clan, and that's also what she gave every reader who picked up these books- one hell of a happy ending.
5 stars!!!

“Who would’ve thought that one night with a dark cowboy would heal my soul of fear?”

When a one night stand turns into more than she could’ve imagined... Caroline Michaels thought she’d reconnect with some old girlfriends at their baby shower. What she didn’t plan on is running into her “dark cowboy” who happens to be the very same man she had a crush on in high school, Clayton Davis.

I loved the magnetism between Caroline and Clayton.
I really identified with the story because Caroline had a very troubled relationship with her mother. (I can relate!) I enjoy books where the handsome alpha swoops in and loves the heck out of the sweet, but downtrodden woman. This book is a contemporary romance with some elements of romantic suspense. There’s a dark side from Clayton and Caroline’s past that will catch up with them. No spoilers here, you’ll have to read the story!

Cowboy Up was my favorite book in The Coming Home series! If you liked Kristen Ashley’s Colorado Mountain series, you’ll love this one. Harper Sloan gets 4.5 stars for this sweet and hot novel!

I was really looking forward to this book and overall it did not disappoint. Cowboy Up had a little bit everything; it was sweet, sexy and emotional yet, it had just the right amount of suspense and drama to give it that extra edge. Overall a really good end to an enjoyable series.

3 ‘Hot Cowboy’ Stars!

This was a different kind of Harper Sloan read for me. I’ve read her all of her Corps Security novels! I went into this book with an open mind knowing it will be different for me.

I thought ‘Cowboy Up’ was a sweet story. I didn’t read to other books in this series and didn’t feel like I needed to to enjoy this one. Clayton is the oldest Davis brother who has a one night stand with Caroline (aka Linney) that they expect to be just that, one night. They are surprised when they cross paths later but their instant connection makes everything good.

Once that connection ignites, it is full steam ahead for these two, with Linney moving I’m in a matter of weeks. I felt that Clayton and Caroline were perfect partners for each other from the beginning.

I’m not a huge fan of insta-love and I felt that some of the outside drama was a little predictable and took away from the story a bit for me. But overall this was good read for me.

I could not wait for this last book in this series to be here.

I had loved the first two books, and jumped into Cowboy Up as quick as I could haha

i'm one of those secret cowboy romance lovers. And maybe it's because I only like a very select few. But I always wind up finding a book or series every now and then that brings that love back out. And that is what this book and series did.

I had been really biding my time waiting for Clayton's story. Out of the three Davis siblings he always kinda intrigued me the most.

And when it was finally time to get his story I absolutely fell head over heels.

His and Caroline's characters were just so perfect for each other. And I loved seeing how the two interacted and really getting a look into Clay's head.

The two both had these sort of rough or broken pieces that needed similar pieces to math with theirs. And that was exactly what the 2 did for each other. I found it so beautiful in a mushy kinda way.

They just fit. if that makes sense haha.

And how could I not love getting to see my other two favorite Davis siblings and they're adorable loves. I enjoyed seeing how all three couples lives progressed and started. And It was just such a good ending to such a good series and such immersive and multi dimensional characters.

Cowboy Up definitely has 5 stars from me

***4 ‘Give You My Bad’ Stars**

I have to say that this one was a lot of fun to read, and is probably my favorite of the three books in this trilogy and it all has to do with Clayton and Caroline. Their budding relationship may have been a little insta and a little unorthodox, I loved the low angsty-ness of it and how they navigated their way through it all. There were moments that were a little too cheesy and corny for me, but overall, I really liked that they decided to follow their guts and hearts and take hold of their happiness on their own terms.

I love the Coming Home series by Harper Sloan wishing it never ends. We finally have Clayton and man was he hot. The chemistry between them is something he never has experienced before and yet he cannot stay away from her. Harper Sloan in each book in this series just shines but this one have to say comes full circle with the Davis family. Loved it.

“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”

I loved this book. Finally seeing Clay get his happy ending was worth the wait. I only wish there were more Davis siblings so I didn't have to leave this group. Highly recommend reading this fun, sexy, and intriguing book.

Harper Sloan knocks it completely out of the park with Cowboy Up and firmly lands herself for the second time this year on my top reads list for 2017.

I'm not sure how we've already made it here but alas this is it and I'm all kinds of sad now. The Coming Home series concludes with book three, Cowboy Up...giving us Clay and Caroline's journey and I think this one might just be my favorite out of the series. Seriously once I started this book, I could not stop and devoured it in one afternoon.

Sexy. Sweet. Swoony. Beautiful. Captivating. Heartwarming. Emotional. Simply everything. Clay and Caroline hooked me from the first page to the last. Their story was so deep and b. eautifully damaged...and yet broke my heart at times, cutting deep but no worries (not that I ever had any) because they pieced it back even more perfect than before.

Sizzling chemistry. An undeniable connection. Unforgettable moments. A beautiful romance. Clay and Caroline are going to find a true, intense love when they least expect it and it's going to be the best of their lives.

Harper will always be one of those authors... an auto one-click no matter what. I love her words. I admire her characters. I obsess over her stories.

I highly recommend this book and incredible series!

Wow, what a stunning conclusion to this beautiful series!

Clay is the eldest Davis sibling, the one to hold the family together, the most dependable, their rock. He's the one whose story I've been looking forward to the most, and damn did he live up to my expectations! As his siblings have fallen in love, gotten married, and are expecting babies any day, Clay is starting to feel a bone deep loneliness, but he's fine with it. Or is he? He has his family. He has his ranch. He has his control. And that's all he really needs until he meets a beautiful woman and spends a night with her that he can't get out of his head even after. So he sets out to keep her when he finds her again. And keep her he does!

Caroline is a shy, somewhat quirky bookseller who's never really let herself go and have some fun since leaving her abusive past behind her. Until she meets a dark cowboy and spends a night with him, never really seeing his face. But when she's at Quinn and Leigh's baby shower after the night she can't get out of her mind, she recognizes the voice of her dark cowboy. Lo and behold it's the eldest Davis and he comes to her rescue when he mother tries to seek her out.

Gah, I LOVED Clay and Caroline together! They had this connection that isn't seen often. Heartrending, steamy and solid, so incredibly solid. They are magic together and I loved that Clay finally got the happiness he so deserved after taking care of his family for so long, being their rock, bearing the brunt of their parents' abusive behavior. I honestly never thought that an author could get me to love cowboys, but as soon as I started reading Leigh and Maverick's story, I became an instant fan and am an even bigger one after reading Clay and Caroline's beautiful, emotional story. Thank you Harper for the entire Davis clan's epic journey. And that epilogue? PERFECTION!!!
