The Ghost Writer by Alessandra Torre had a gripping synopsis. I couldn't wait to start the book.
I was interested in the main character's story, and felt fear and unease for her. I love books where there's some kind of secret or hidden confession.
The pace of the book was good.
I have always been interested in ghost writers and their work.

Thanks to Alessandra Torre and publisher for my eARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

I am not often one to read a psychological thriller’s but I did enjoy this. Different than others I have read from this author but entertaining and kept me on my toes.

You know when you first start a book and within the first page, maybe two, you are hooked? That was this book.
Helena Ross, a famous writer, has a story to tell. It will be her last story and she needs help in telling it.
I was so enthralled by this book that I just couldn’t put it down. I had to know the secrets that Helena would be revealing in her story and how she got to where she was.
So good! I can’t wait to read more from this author.

Quinn's Review:
Speechless.
Stunned.
Blown away.
I have no idea what made me pick up this ARC(3 years too late), but I've really been into thriller lately. Now I knew this was a little different, but I really had no idea until I got to the meat of it. I almost gave up as it was really slow and difficult to see what the whole point was. But once you realize what this book really is about? I couldn't stop reading.
This book will completely gut you. Don't give up on it. You will be rewarded once you see the meticulous foundation Torre built in order to rock you to your core.

Why have I not heard more about this book? This was such a cool concept, and I finished this story within just a sitting or two. Lots of fun, very engaging!

We are both huge fans of @alessandratorre4’s novels and I think it’s is one of only a few we haven’t made our way to yet.
It’s definitely on the thriller side of things and more like it was the beginning of A R Torre being introduced to us than the classic sexy romances that Alessandra is so very good at producing!
The story follows main character Helena Roth as she enlists the help of her agent and fellow author to tell her own story, and confession, in a memoir that will outlive her terminal diagnosis.
The story is mainly set with Helena retelling, writing and outlining her story for her chosen ghostwriter to help her reach her goal of completing the book before she dies.
Throughout, the confession Helena is making remains unknown to the reader until much later in the book and this kept me turning pages to find out what happened. I would think it was going one way and then it would go off in a different direction and I’d be completely surprised. In the end I was still surprised by how things played out exactly for Helena.
You get to know Helena while she tells her story and also lives out her remaining days in the present. While you understand somewhat, what it was like for her, I felt there was a tiny bit of me that still couldn’t quite connect with her. It kept me on edge and I found it to be a pretty tense and intense read! I’m really looking forward to Alessandra’s next thriller The Good Lie.

A heartbreaking story about a best-selling romance author, Helen Ross, who only got a few weeks to live and ids harboring a deep, dark secret that she wanted to share through her book. One last story to write, her best yet, she believed. Because it is her truth. If only she have the energy to write it. But with her time running out and health deteriorating, she had to find a ghostwriter. But she doesn't want just any ghostwriter, she wants her nemesis to write her book. If only she could convince her. On top of that, Helen is an impossible person to get along with and it's always a big challenge to work with her. Will Helen be able to get her book out there before she succumb to her sickness? As said, Helen is a character that is so hard to like and despite her condition, it is still hard to feel for her plight. But also because of that, her truth, her revelations are more heartbreaking and devastating. It definitely help me understand why she did what she did. Overall, The Ghostwriter is an emotional compelling tale that will leave great impressions even after finishing the book. A great read definitely!

This was do not finish. We are positive blog so we only review books we enjoy
Thank you for the opportunity

A great read. Really enjoyed reading it. I love Alessandra books. Interesting and intriguing. Didn't want to put it down.

A heartbreaking, chilling and hypnotically suspenseful page-turner about deception, dark secrets, a very twisted mind and a tortured soul, that will have you sobbing and will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to end!
A phenomenal well-written story, so ruthlessly clever and told in a way that goes deep to your soul. I was immediately transported to Helena's world and felt her pain and the connection not only physically but emotionally.
Each character was executed with great expertise, in a way they're vividly etched in our minds as we breathlessly follow Helena on her journey and to a painful revelation.
All in all, this is one of the most intense, gripping and suspenseful books I've read this year (2017), and one hell of a ride by the very talented and gifted author Alessandra Torre!!

The Ghostwriter is a wonderfully unique suspense novel from Alessandra Torre. This is the first book of Torre's that I have read, and I'll now be swiftly adding the rest to my TBR list.
This novel focuses on Helena, a highly successful novelist, with millions of fans and many bestsellers. Yet life is not perfect, however much she makes it out to be. When she receives some terrible news, she realises that she has the tightest deadline ever to make - and she's going to write THE book. The final book. Not her usual style at all, but instead, the book that will reveal her secrets...
This is a beautifully written novel; unsuspecting, unpredictable and heart-breaking.
However, with all the praise surrounding this book, I wanted to love it - I was prepared to love it. And even though it's such a brilliant story, I just didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would - mainly because it seemed to go on for too long, and took too much time to get to the point sometimes that it became quite grating. Not only that, but I just didn't like Helena. She was spiteful, uncaring and I know that this is partly the point; that Helena needed to grow, to break free of this shell but her personality just irked me.
Even so, I still enjoyed this and I'm looking forward to reading more from Torre as her prose is beautiful.

This book was very well written. Alessandra Torre take you on a journey with Helena Ross who has three months to write a book. When she realizes that she needs help, she turns to the person she least expected to ever ask.
As Helena narrates the story, secrets are revealed. A secret that she probably didn't intend to ever be revealed. At times my heart broke for Helena. At times, I was quite frustrated with her as well. But in the end, I grew to love her. My heart broke for her. She may not have been the most welcoming person, but when she needed a friend..... her ghostwriter never left her side. As much as she pushed, they pushed right back.
Alessandra Torre delivers a captivating story that will leave your heart hurting.

When I first heard about THE GHOSTWRITER by Alessandra Torre, I was ecstatic to get to read this book. Why? For one simple reason. The book is not a romance nor does to have an erotic element to it. I wanted to see what one of my favorite authors could do without the "sexy times". Even though I love her fun romantic comedies and the dark romances she has given her readers in the past, there is something so great about seeing an author push themselves to create a different type of story.
I will say this. For a mystery or suspense novel, I think that the ending was great. It gave a reveal that I was craving for the entire book. The mystery of who her husband was comes out and the reader finally gets the whole story that dangled just out of reach for most of the book. However, while I was reading the bulk of the book I wanted more. I would have loved to get more of the dark and twisty that I was hoping for when I first started this book. Maybe this is because I have been reading more gritty suspense novels lately and I am more tuned into this, but I did feel like there were some missed opportunities to tease and possible misdirect the reader.
Now, with all that said, I still really enjoyed book. Torre's characters are amazingly well-developed and I craved more time with them. The relationships forged and expanded on, pulled me in just as much as the real, gritty, and intense emotions that filled the page. The story on its own is solid and I would be remiss if I didn't mention the level of craft that the author brings to this story.
Torre proved that she can push the boundaries of her writing. This is another must read from the author.

Wow! I don't know why I waited so long to read this. I think I was afraid, after requesting it, because of some of the other works by this author that don't really fit my reading agenda, but I was so wrong. This is such a beautiful story. Definitely not for someone that insists on a HEA, but if you're looking to actually be touched deeply by a story, pick this up immediately!

Four years ago, Helena's husband died. She lied to her mother and to the police. A bestselling author, Helena is good at making up stories, and they believed her.
Now, Helena is writing her final book, and in it, she will reveal the truth of what happened.
Will Helena be able to finish the book?
What secrets has she been hiding for the past four years?
The Ghostwriter was my first Alessandra Torre book and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
Helena was a prickly character but I liked her anyway. She had a difficult relationship with her mother and it was easy to see why Helena turned out the way she did. I also liked Mark and Kate a lot.
The plot was interesting and held my attention. I was really intrigued as to what had happened in Helena's past and what happened to Simon.
The writing style was engaging and easy to follow.
I liked the mystery aspect of the book and was glad that romance wasn't a big theme.
Overall this was an enjoyable read that I would recommend.

This book was stunning. One of my top reads of the year. Heartbreaking, mysterious, and addictive.
This is the best book I've yet read from Alessandra. The writing is superb, capturing the reader and refusing to let go.
Beautifully sad, and a story that i will never forget.

This was an intense read and I enjoyed some parts of it, but maybe I just wasn't in the right headspace to really get into it. I love Alessandra's writing, but this was to dark emotionally for me to really fall in love with it.

Sweet mother of all that is holy, this BOOK! This book was everything - EVERYTHING - I hoped it would be. You want to read something incredible? Pick this one up NOW!

AMAZING Suspensful GREAT Heart wrenching
Couldn't put this book down! Best books 2017
"If you lie enough times, no one believes your truth"
Suspenseful read of an author Helene who teams up with her rival Marka to ghostwrite a story that evokes your emotions. When Marka arrives it isn't who you expect. But then again as you get know Helene through the story things aren't always as they seem as there is a struggle for control as deceit and advantages come into action .
Emotional read which reaches into your heart giving it a tug and squeeze while delving into the soul.

This was a different read than the usual Alessandra Torre books and I liked it. She always surprises me with her ability to change her writing style.
