Loved this book. Didn’t want it to end. Highly recommend.
Love love love. Incredible book. Fabulous book club pick too

Wonderfully written story set in World War II. While military life is indeed talked about in this book, there's a sweet coming of age love story, adventure and a bit of spy thrilling action.
I thoroughly enjoyed it though and felt the characters were vividly detailed.

The premise of this book sounded interesting to me because of my love for WWII.
For me, the writing was very dry. I felt like I was trudging through every sentence, trying to find the action and the story. I didn't feel like it pulled me in or held my attention, and I was often just pushing through instead of enjoying the story.
There were parts that were interesting, like Shtefan's quest to lose his virginity because of Himmler's belief that this would make him a better soldier, but overall I didn't feel very invested in the book.
The writing of this author makes me think I won't be picking up another by him. It just didn't work for me.
