Adorable, and perfect for transportation story time! Kids like to imitate adults, so this is perfect. Also, it sets up for a sequel!

Bobby's Got a Brand-New Car by Zidrou is a fun ride through a child's imagination of grown up things. This was a fun and cute little book, but it isn't clear to children in my view that it is a dream, or his imagination running away with itself.

Little Bobby gets to pick out his dream car (a convertible) and pay for it with his own money (the magic card that pays for everything!). He takes it out for a drive and listens to all the sounds a happy car makes. He picks up his mom from school, but when he gets dad, dad has to sit in the back.

The book never lets on whether this is a daydream, and I think I'm ok with that. Surely children are smart enough to know they can't drive cars yet. The magic card that pays for everything might be a teachable moment, but I say let the kids have a little dream of being big and being on the road.

It's a cute story and the illustrations are perfect. I liked the style that this book had. I also liked that it didn't belittle Bobby.

I received this ARC from NetGalley via Quarto Publishing Group.

This is a nice story of a kid buying a car and making sure his parents get home safe. It has beautiful color illustrations. I say this but there is a recurring theme that I don’t like. Bobby has a “magic card, the one that pays for everything”. I think this is a bad lesson to be teaching. We don’t know if it’s a credit card or a bank card, just that it pays for everything. We need to teach children about money from an early age, and using a “magic card” is an irresponsible lesson to teach without knowing the origin of said card.

'Bobby's Got a Brand-New Car' by Zidrou with illustrations by Sébastien Chebret is a fun ride through a child's imagination of grown up things.

Bobby's Got a Brand New Car by Zidrou was full of child-like imagination and fun. Allowing a child to imagine and lice the life of and adult through story is such fun. The illustrations worked only to improve the story line.

Illustrations are beautiful and colorful. Magic card can be confusing to kids.

Vroom vroom vroom, cars delight and captivate children from their imitatible sounds to the rolling moving parts. This book puts the littlest one in the drivers seat from picking out the wheels to taking mom and dad for a drive. I love the creative freedom this book invites and the illustrations are absolutely noteworthy and I will be drawing my trees a new way from here on out!

This title isn't my favorite and didn't hold our three year old's attention at all. I really wasn't thrilled with the whole concept of introducing "magic cards" that pay for everything to children. I certainly don't want my child thinking about racking up credit card debt on his magic card. I did like the imagination Bobby showed as he talked about all the things he would do in a day with his newly purchased convertible. At bedtime, he dreams of starting the whole day over by purchasing a plane... Probably with another magic card.

This was a fun and cute little book, but it isn't clear to children in my view that it is a dream, or his imagination running away with itself. That said the book has some lovely illustrations. A nice quick read but could be confusing and you may need to explain to children why Bobby has a "magic" card hat pays for everything and also how at his age he can drive a car... when they can't!

An easy read book , lovely illustrations. The book centres on Bobby buying a new car!! Some children may get the plot that this was all a dream while others may not!! The fact Bobby drives the car and pays for it with his magic card may need to be explained to some children. Overall it is a nice quick read .

This little story is about Bobby going out to by a new car. It's quite an adult theme for a children's book, such as going into a car salesroom, saying for a car, and obeying traffic lights etc. Also, I'm not sure how much of a good idea it is to give children the idea that mummy or daddy's magic card 'pays for everything'! The illustrations are adorable and quite unique, and the text is well-placed on each page to ensure that it can be read on top of the full pages of colour. On the whole it's a nice book, but I'm not convinced it's an appropriate enough topic for a children's book.
