I enjoyed reading this exhaustive biography/history. The book is presented in chronological order. It includes lots of illustrations and described the artwork as well Jasper Johns thoughts on the work. I really like reading about the work behind the work. Anyone interested in American Art and this fascinating artist will enjoy this book.

An interesting journey through the works and philosophy of one of the most important American artist of the 20th century. I particularly appreciated how his art was included into the larger context of the history of ideas and creative representation, particularly in the USA. A recommended book to anyone interested to delve into the recent story of American art but particularly the works of Johns himself.
