I loved House Arrest, and Knock Out was a great way to continue the story of Timothy and Levi. This time, it is 12 years later. Levi is in middle school living his best life after his surgery as an infant, despite his mom and Timothy being incredibly overprotective (rightly so- he was so sick!). He has a best friend (who seems to be drifting more towards another friend), and he feels the need to make up for his small stature by being a class clown. Then his dad tells him to choose a sport, and Levi finds himself into boxing. Not only is he interested, but he’s good at it! Levi becomes more and more into boxing, and he discovers a boarding school for boxers that he is desperate to attend. He just needs to convince his mom and Timothy!

What I liked about this book was that I got to see where Timothy went with his life. I loved Timothy’s story in House Arrest, and I wanted the best for him. While he is still angry with his father, he does make good choices about his future. He is still fiercely protective of Levi, but does advocate for Levi’s needs. I very much look forward to anything that KA Holt writes in the future!

This book is amazing! A great sequel to 'House Arrest'. My students read House Arrest and begged for the sequel. They were not disappointed.

I received this ebook from NetGalley in enhange for an honest review.

I gave this book five stars! I had read House Arrest, so when I heard that there was a companion novel with Levi as the main character, I knew I had to read it. I loved the shape poems and how you could just feel Levi’s emotions and frustrations. KA Holt does a great job at using a novel in verse to really allow the reader to get into each character. My heart hurt for Levi, but since I knew his brother’s story, I also felt frustrated with Levi and how much he didn’t understand. My favorite part was watching him and his brother grow together. Such a beautiful novel and I hope there is more. I know this will be a “knock out” book for my students and readers of all ages.

I can't possibly be the only one who predicted teh general slant of this novel's plot within a few pages. That being said, its not a bad read. Quick moving. A few moments weren't entirely clear but the bulk of the plot is understanding. Might provide some good points of discussion with young readers.

This companion book to House Arrest had me hooked right from the beginning. It was fun to see things from Levi's point-of-view. I was rooting for him and wanted him to be alright, box, and prove that he is strong enough. It was satisfying to check in on his brother, Timothy. Middle school students will love this book!

This is a follow up, novel in verse, to Holt's House Arrest. I knew that when I requested the book from NetGalley but by the time I started reading it I had forgotten. It didn't really matter. Yes, it references House Arrest a bit but you don't need to have read that book to enjoy this one.
Knock Out is about Levi. When he was a baby he had health issues which affected his breathing. As a result, his mom and brother are very overprotective. To add to some typical middle grade stress and drama, his best friend Twig has started hanging out with someone else. Levi wants to make his own mark - encouraged by his dad he starts boxing but will his health get in the way of his life?
This was good and I feel like those who read House Arrest will enjoy finding out more about Levi.

This companion novel to House Arrest did not disappoint! This time readers hear from Levi as he fights to achieve what he considers a normal life. He examines his relationships with his mother, father, and brother, Timothy as he strives to move past his illness.

I love K.A. Holt and so do my students- so I was excited to see that she has a new book being published. While this book includes Levi from House Arrest, Knockout works as either a companion novel or a stand alone. Levi is a typical 7th grader- grappling with friendships, family, and figuring out who he is. However, he also struggles to make sure that his longterm illness does not define him or his abilities. I think this novel-in-verse is really needed, and I know my students are going to connect and empathize with Levi and his family. I can't wait to put this on the shelves in my classroom.

3.5-4 stars. It took me a bit to get into this one, which disappointed me because I LOVE K.A. Holt and House Arrest is AMAZING. However, I kept reading and eventually got into it. I like getting to see what became of Thomas and how his relationship with his brother developed due to the circumstances in House Arrest. I think fans will appreciate this companion novel.

i want to read every single book by KA Holt. Every. Single. One.

The characters are funny and realistic and compelling. I loved the fast-forward of Timothy and Levi's story. The continuation has a fresh feel and the poems flow nicely.

Phenomenally good. I really loved the companion novel to House Arrest. Seeing the world through Levi's eyes after reading Timothy's journal was the perfect way to see how the Davidson's life could continue. I loved some of the shapes the verse was written in and how the rhythms reminded me of the sounds of boxing. Levi is such a great character, and his relationship with those that care about him is so well defined and engaging to experience. I almost wrote read, but changed the last word of that sentence to experience because there is so much that you feel in this book the word read doesn't cut it. I feel kind of bad telling you to run out and grab a book that's not out until March, but at least you have time to plan your purchase

Knockout was a great book! This is a perfect conclusion to Levi's story from House Arrest. I also really enjoyed seeing the dad a bit more in this story. I was able to get a better feel for the whole family. I know many people who will be excited to get their hands on this book as soon as it comes out.
