Halloween at the Graff reads like a Hallmark fall movie, with cheesy dialogue and all. (This is not a bad thing – I love a good Hallmark holiday movie). There is some spice here, but not really. It’s more of a light spice, a pumpkin spice if you will. A sweet romance where Instalust turns into Instalove in a cute small-town fall background. We’re told that Walker lived a big, high-powered life in the political arena of DC before she’s part of some huge public scandal that sends her scurrying to small-town Montana to hide out and lick her wounds, but we never found out just what the scandal was, which left me feeling a little unsatisfied despite the cute romance story.

I'm always looking for more Halloween set romance novels, and this is a fun choice! Perfectly lovely fall setting and a frothy romance. Pairs well with a great fall ale!

Walker Wilder found herself in the small town of Marietta, Montana, trying to move forward after her previous life imploded, leaving her at the point of starting over. We get the impression at the start of the book that she is done with men. Her energy is focused on bring guests to the Graff hotel and making them a destination. She wants to start by working on a family friendly Halloween event. Walker needed some publicity for the hotel, so she invited Calum Quest and his Ghost Quest to see if the setting at the Graff would make for a good show.

Calum wants to be done with is show because it’s just gotten too big and he is not passionate about it anymore. He’s been on the road too long and now something is just missing. He is more than ready to film the finale of his show. He came to Marietta because it’s on his way to his friend, Laird Walker’s, house where he will take a much needed break. He wasn’t really looking for a location for his last show.

This was the first book that I have read by Sinclair Jayne and I didn’t really know what to expect. It was definitely a sweet romance. I love the Halloween holiday theme and the bit of paranormal activity. I don’t think I have ever read a ghost hunting romance, so it was fun! This book has some hot chemistry, some awkward moments, funny lines, an underlying mystery and definitely adventure. The dialogue between the characters flows effortlessly and the sparks definitely are flying. Calum was totally my book boyfriend while I was reading this book. He was hot, romantic and had a take-charge attitude. The author can’t go wrong with a man looking for a long term commitment ;) Read this book if you are looking for a sweet romance. *dreamy sigh*

3.5 stars!
I've never read this author before, so the title and season was what I was looking for at the time. I wasn't sure of either character at first, both were dealing with their own problems. Calum was in need of some career changes and wasn't exactly likeable at first. Walker was trying too hard to get Calum interested in getting coverage for the Graff, but when you find out more, you understand her need to make her new career a success. The chemistry between the two is slow building, no insta-love here which I enjoyed. All in all I thought the story was a well written if not a little uneven (at first) enjoyable romantic read.
I received an ARC thru NetGalley for my honest opinion

I love the premise of this book. It's so nice to have a fall and Halloween centered romance since most holiday-themed books focus on Christmas. More books like this, please!

A small town, an historic hotel, and a ghost...what more can you ask for at Halloween? Walker Wilder's entire life has taken a dramatic turn in the past year. Her only chance to start over is a job in PR at the Graff Hotel in Marietta, thanks to an intern from her past life. Determined to make things work without her past interfering, she adopts her mother's last name and tries to figure out a way to up the hotel's bookings. A visit to the attic for Halloween decorations leaves her with an uneasy feeling, prompting an email to Ghost Quests in the hope of getting the Graff's name out there. Calum Quest has lost his feel for his show. He has come to Marietta to stay with his friend and figure out what he wants to do next, but takes a side-trip to the Graff when he receives Walker's email.
Calum is more interested in Walker and her secrets than the possibility of a ghost at the Graff. The more time he spends, the more he finds himself charmed by the town and Walker.
Walker is used to the high-powered career and life she used to have and doesn't expect to stay in Marietta too long. Her job and Marietta, as well as Calum, not to mention the family she has always wondered about, start to make her re-think her future and where she thinks she should be.
Both Walker and Calum have some baggage, and I do like these two, especially together. It's fun to see them discover what a special place Marietta is, and for Walker to find her family. The was a Halloween ghost story that wasn't overly spooky, and in fact, had me giggling in some spots.
This is a fun start to a new Marietta series set around the historic Graff hotel. It will be fun to see what's next for the Graff.

I always enjoy Sinclair Jayne's books and this was no exception. There was so much detail in a short story - love that! Calum and Walker each had their big issues they were working through and had so many hurdles to overcome being together. I love the backdrop of ghosts and another special holiday season at the Graff!

I just love the stories about the citizens of Marietta Montana, especially the Graf Hotel series. This book by Sinclair Jayne is another wonderful installment!

What a fun and unique book! After reading Calum and Walker's story, it prompted me to find the other books in the series. There are a lot of laughs, and some unusual happenings at the Graff Hotel. Everyone involved needs a second chance, but will they be strong enough to reach out and hold on to it?

So Holiday in the Graff really played into the Halloween theme with the presence of ghosts (both literally and figuratively!) Calum and Walker each had some things in their lives that continues to haunt them. For Walker her previous career ending in such a dramatic way along with her life in DC really makes it hard to move forward again. Add in the fact that there are some family mysteries regarding her father's side of the family that also continues to haunt her in some way. Calum on the other hand deals with ghost haunting (or with a play on his name Questing!) He's made a successful career out of it but it seems he can't really feel himself having more in his life because of it. So when these two meet they were both at a crossroads and add in a possibly haunted hotel then you have a sexy and slightly eerie Halloween romance. This is more on the sensual side and there are a lot of side plots that would make the reader really confused if they don't follow the series by this same author. But Calum and Walker's romance is more character driven anyway and it really plays into the trusting each other theme of a relationship. Still a good read.

The thing I loved about Halloween at the Graff is that it is told mainly from the thoughts of the main characters, Calum and Walker, rather than from dialog and third person voice. This concept of writing made the story so interesting as you are clued in on both character's emotions, feelings and thoughts at that moment and following.
Walker is desperately trying to hide from the fiasco she fled in Washington, DC, where she was a high powered political assistant. No one but her former assistant knows about her recent past and that is perfect for Walker. She now works at the restored Graff Hotel in Marietta as the public relations manager and Calum Quest represents a chance to get a level of high publicity for the hotel. He has a television program devoted to ghost hunting and Walker is going to hook him into doing a show on the Graff. Surely there must be a ghost somewhere in the Graff's history.
Calum is really only interested in doing the last show of the season and being done with it all. He is really only in Marietta to visit his former partner, Laird Wilder, to talk to him about how Laird left all the hoopla of television. Little does Calum know that Laird is a lost cousin to Walker and she would really like to investigate that side of her family.

This was a rather underwhelming addition to the Marietta lexicon. Neither Walker nor Calum really impressed or intrigued me. They lacked depth and the result was that I never really got into the story.

Walker is a new addition to the Wilder family, which seems to be growing, and not through procreation. Her downward trajectory to Marietta and her feelings about being there are hard to sympathize with. Calum also seems to be on a bit of a downward spiral.

That they hit it off in Marietta is not exactly pure chance, but close enough to it. There's a bit of paranormal activity (kind of a required element seeing as how Calum is a ghost hunter) but it's not a lot. Mostly, it felt like two people complaining about how awful their life seemed now compared to where they wanted to be.

I'd give this one miss unless you really have to read all the Marietta books or all the Wilder family books.

Starting over career wise at 32 is never easy and it doesn't come as a shock to Walker Wilder that she hates it. As the new events director at historic Montana Graff Hotel, a job she is highly over qualified for it's her job to create a buzz about the place and fill rooms during off peak season. In her mind it's perfect, Halloween time and she decides to hire a spirit hunting tv crew. When just a very handsome spirit hunter shows up she just can't stop thinking about him. Calum Quest hunts things that go bump in the night but he's getting tired of the chase and questioning things that there are no answer to. He also can't stop thinking of Walker. Walker is really trying to reinvent herself and time with Calum and her new found cousins may just do it.

Halloween at The Graff begins the Holiday at The Graff series written by various authors. I enjoyed Walker and Calum’s story, I do need to say that at times I was torn about Walker. Life changing events have happened to her in the last year. Her reputation and political career in tatters, tossed under the bus as a sacrificial lamb, her discovery of what a cheating jerk her was going to be groom truly was, and the decision to move far from DC to the wilds of Montana… and the possible homestead of part of her extended family. Yes, life sucks and she’s in hiding far away from anyone who might know her and using her mother’s maiden name. She’s trying to build a new life with half-truths and the intention of leaving in six months. She’s running and hasn’t stopped running. I really wanted to like Walker, and eventually I did… once she stopped thinking, thinking, thinking so much.

Calum has ridden the ghost hunting show of his creation for a very long run. Yet now he’s ready for something else. He’s grown tired of the extras that go with making his show. He still enjoys the chase, sometimes, but now it’s time to wrap it up with his Halloween special. He’s in Marietta to visit with a friend, a man who had been with him back in the beginning of their ghost questing when he gets an interesting email.

I enjoyed Halloween At The Graff. The ghost story was left unfinished in my mind, unless I missed it. Yet the overall story was fun and entertaining. It’s always fun to run into old friends in Marietta and that we did with Sage, the Wilder brothers and their ladies… and perhaps a few secondary characters who will have their own story told one day. Lookin’ at you Shane. I had fun, I was entertained and that’s the whole point. If you’re addicted to small town Marietta then you’ll want to get started on this new series. I’d definitely recommend this one to anyone who enjoys holiday themed stories, interesting characters and a touch of mystery.

Sinclair Jayne writes emotional, intense romances that usually have a lot of angst, drama and soul searching. Halloween at the Graff is not quite that heavy but a great read. In fact, I loved the more lighthearted approach to Walker and Calum’s story. Yes, there is still some anguish, rebuilding of life goals and career crisis in this story; still it is a lot of fun to read.

The ghost hunter aspect of the story was paired with Washington, DC mover and shaker made quite a couple as they flirted, fell in lust then love and searched out the ghost of the attic makes a delightful, intriguing read. I was hooked from the beginning when Walker is rehashing her demise in Washington and encounters the moving chair in the attic. From there the story continued to hold my attention. Halloween at the Graff is perfect for the adult who loves a good story, ghost story or not.

Now I look forward to more stories concerning the Graff Hotel in Marietta, Montana.

Cute holiday story without being too “Halloweeny”. Wish I had known a little more back story in the rest of the Wilder clan but cute none the less.

I’ve not read Laird, Kane or Luke’s stories but this book has me intrigued about the Wilder family. I love everything Marietta and ever since I read Sinclair Jayne's Sons of San Clement series (very sad that hasn't continued beyond 2 books) I have enjoyed and look forward to her stories.

Walker and Calum’s story is quite sweet. Though they both have a void in their lives due to their turbulent childhoods, somehow together, the walls they built to protect themselves come tumbling down. The inexplicable attraction is consolidated when certain spectral events cause them to bond. Walker has never trusted easily and plays her hand close to the vest. So when certain secrets that she’s hiding are revealed in the most unfortunate way, everything between them goes awry. But even in their estrangement, Calum begins to understand that Walker’s intent was never to mislead him, and the situation was more bad timing than lies. Calum’s raw honesty and willingness to bare his soul was what appealed to me the most. Starting over with the right person makes it easier.

I'm so glad to have a new Marietta series to get lost in...I just cannot get enough of the town and its residents. The collaboration of different authors to create the series, each with their story, is the trademark for each these series so far and as far as I'm concerned, genius and entertaining on a whole other level.

Walker and Calum's story is the perfect kickoff to the series not only because it features the primarily the Graff hotel...which plays an important part, or at least gets a mention, in each series so far, but because it also recaps so many of the previous stories characters, almost as a reminder of the past, but also as a backdrop for the stories to come...It was even a pleasant surprise for Miracle Lake to get a mention.

Ms Jayne has once again provided her writing wonder in the characters of Walker and Calum... their instant connection, dialogue and banter between them captivates and draws you in. The added element of the haunting at the hotel is sure to send off intrigue and suspense to keep you turning the pages quickly to get to whatever the conclusion the hauntings may bring.

I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in the series to see what are the next surprises are in store for the residents of Marietta.

Halloween at the Graff by Sinclair Jayne, book one in the Holiday at the Graff series, is an interesting story. Walker Wilder’s life has imploded, making her feel lost and with no idea how she is going to turn her life around. When one of her former interns offers her a life-line with a job she is way over-qualified for and in Marietta, Montana, she jumps for it. Walker is now the new events director for the Graff Hotel, where she is trying to create a fresh buzz and new traditions to fill rooms during the off-season. Halloween might not seem touristy, but maybe hiring a spirit-hunting TV crew to showcase the ghosts within the Graff will definitely grab some headlines. Maybe Walker hasn’t lost her magic touch. Calum Quest is burned out. He created an entertainment empire chasing spirits he has never seen and is tired of asking questions which have no answer. He wants to recharge his life, starting a new adventure. When he sees Walker walking toward him he starts wondering if one truly can fall in love at first sight and if he can get her to reciprocate those feelings. Walker’s ideas for the Halloween celebration just might start some new traditions for Marietta, a life with Calum and with her newly found cousins.

I enjoyed reading this book, reading it in one day. Sinclair Jayne is a great story teller able to draw her readers into her stories. I definitely recommend this book to other readers.
