This book undoubtedly has useful information that will help you improve your well-being, including particularly helpful chapters on mindfulness, self-acceptance, and intentional relationships. I appreciated the references provided at the end of each chapter. I also liked the inclusion of a self-assessment so that you know where you are starting at and can monitor your progress. The worksheets that the authors provide for download on their website make this process much easier.

I really wanted to love this book, but it seemed overwhelming. If you follow the program as the authors suggest, it is a major commitment of daily time and effort, and it just felt like too much. I struggled just to read the book, which struck me as unnecessarily long and repetitive.

The book is well-written, informative, and encouraging, and it does offer many practical suggestions for improving your well-being, so you may enjoy this more than I did.

I was provided an ARC through NetGalley that I volunteered to review. Because I have not seen the final published version, I cannot comment on the final editing and formatting. The ARC was neatly formatted and had only occasional proofreading errors.

I liked this book. William and Robin share a compilation of research about Mindfulness and their experiences. It is rare to have a book about this subject with exercises and scientific references. The book is easy to read and the exercises are helpful.

This is a book to add to your self help library. If you flow through the techniques mindfully you will find you treat yourself with more compassion and understand your body mind connection. This is well written, very easy to follow and highly educational. A excellent read.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the copy in exchange for an honest review!

I have suffered from anxiety for most of my life and figured this book may be beneficial to me. My low self-esteem is also an issue that I need to work on. This book was helpful to me, as it gave strategies to assist in becoming more compassionate to myself. I would recommend anyone struggling with these issues check it out!

William and Robin Shearer’s “Mindful Choices for Well-Being” is an eye-opening, inspiring, and transformative book. As a therapist who is very past-oriented, I was quite surprised that a book focusing on present-day mindful choices and habits could be so powerful. It is amazing how many excuses we have for engaging in unhealthy and sometimes destructive behavior. We blame parents, genes, biology, addictions, trauma, and everything else we can think of. Sometimes, they are used as an excuse and paradoxically disempower us towards valued and healthy living. The Shearer’s provide a detailed, practical, and compassionate approach that wakes us up from the trance of autopilot and catapults us toward empowered choices and habits that can free us from depression, anxiety, and so many other dis-eases. I highly recommend this book!
