Luke and Quinn’s story was just amazing. Luke is reserved and Quinn is open. It’s the perfect case of opposites attract! Add in high stress jobs and these 2 were bound to ignite! I would recommend this book.

I was thrilled to be getting the next Station Seventeen book. So far, Kimberly Kincaid impressed me with her writing skills, her knowledge of the profession and with the way she writes romantic suspense. Yes, there were some liberties taken with protocol but, it was for the best. Sometimes you have to overlook something for the greater good. But, I wasn’t the least bit surprised that In Too Deep impressed me in the same way that Skin Deep and Deep Burn did.

I loved Luke and Quinn’s story. They had, not only a love of helping people, but an appreciation and commitment for the job that totally impressed me. Even when things went FUBAR, their first concern was helping the patient … dedication – and that showed throughout the story.

Luke and Quinn handled their situation in their own ways. Luke was a loner, he kept things close to the vest, his job was to protect and serve, not let anyone get to close and to make sure Quinn made it through this ordeal. Quinn was open, loving, had a bevy of friends and her first concern was protecting the family that she loves. She wasn’t handling having a killer stalk and threaten her and Luke and those close to them. But, Luke soothes her, calms her and she can’t fight the attraction that she feels for him. She also can’t believe that he chose her to finally open up to, show her the side of himself that he kept hidden and admit his feelings. When they do come together, it’s explosive and the love that they have been denying themselves shines through.

Luke and Quinn were surrounded by so much love. The Station Seventeen crew couldn’t be more supportive and concerned once they found out what was going on. Luke’s family was wonderful – I loved Momma Billie and Hayley. They were strong, independent woman who loved Luke fiercely and didn’t fold when trouble came knocking at their door. Who would have thought that it would be Hayley that saved the day?

Kimberly Kincaid wrote a beautiful romantic suspense. She showed us how wonderful things could be if you open up and trust the people around you to have your six. She didn’t let the action slow down and she made us feel the pain, suffering, concern and love that both Luke and Quinn were dealing with. It was wonderful how she made sure we understood their feeling and why they had them. Quinn was written as an unstoppable woman who was determined to overcome her fear. And, Ms. Kincaid did an amazing job of bringing Luke out of his shell and showing us the true man that he was. I was honored to read and review this story and am looking forward to more from everyone at Station Seventeen.

This was a decent story and I somewhat enjoyed both the hero and the heroine, Luke and Quinn. However, nothing really stood out making it a great book.

What can I say Kincaid has outdone herself again. With every book I read of hers I fall more & more in love with her writing. This book is about Luke & Quinn and is filled with suspense & drama. It had me on the edge of my seat.
It’s a must read!

Quinn annoyed me a lot, and I didn't really care about the romance, so there's basically nothing in the story for me to enjoy :/

I love all of this authors books. This book was just a little “been there, done that” for me though.

This was a super addition to Station Seventeen series, this is rookie firefighter/paramedic Luke and Paramedic Quinn's book. These two are attracted to each other but have not acted on it.On an emergency call these two are kidnapped and after that things start heating up between them that is until Lukes sister is threatened and he pushes Quinn away.I really liked this book I am hoping there will be more in this series soon.

“Luke Slater hung forty feet over the city of Remington by a hand, a harness and a Hail Mary.”

From that heart-pounding, adrenaline-soaked first line to the very end, this book was one heck of a ride. I always expect sizzling romance and a suspenseful plot when I enter the Station Seventeen World. But nothing could have prepared me for the roller coaster ride this story took me on!

The blurb only scratches the surface - Quinn and Luke find themselves paired up on “ambo” while Quinn’s regular partner (the yummy Parker - did I just type that?) heals from an injury. Within hours, Quinn and Luke find themselves, and those they love, in danger from cold-blooded gang leader that is right out of your nightmares. But packed between all that action is some very powerful writing about how people handle grief differently. While Luke viewed the tragedy in his past as a lesson to keep emotions encased in stone, Quinn used her sad backstory as a lesson to embrace friends and co-workers as family. Quinn and Luke truly are the “yin” and “yang” couple - one lightness and joy, the other stoically hovering in the shadows. As a result, their growing attraction and love make for some very tender moments amidst the chaos. Of course, a huge part of this amazing read is the stellar writing of Ms. Kincaid - somehow she always manages to realistically capture witty banter, dark moments and smexy scenes between characters within a perfectly paced plot.

An added bonus is the secondary characters, some we got to know up-close and personally in the prior Station Seventeen books - it was great to catch up with them all! I also view Station Seventeen itself as a character - the fire station is always at the heart of these books as it is in the hearts of the people who work there. I cannot wait for the next book - there are a lot of Station Seventeen stories to be told!

This is the third book in the series but I found it quite easy to read as a stand-alone.

Luke Slater is a rookie fire-fighter on Engine 17 in the city of Remington. On the side he is also studying to be a paramedic.

Quinn is the second seat in the Remington ambulance attached to Engine 17, when her partner Parker injures his hand and is off duty for a while Luke is rostered as temporary replacement. On pretty much their first call they are kidnapped by members of the Viper gang and forced to look after one of their gang who has been shot by members of a rival gang. Quinn and Luke are eventually released but the leader of the Vipers, Ice, threatens to come after them and their friends and family if they breathe a word of what happened and who they saw.

This is kind of a mash up between romantic –suspense and a flat-out sexy firefighter romance and it didn’t really work that well for me. There was quite a good plot but I did feel at one point that Ice brought everything on himself, if he had just walked away and not tried to frighten Quinn and Luke then things wouldn’t have spiralled. Similarly, although Quinn hid it well she definitely had TSTL tendencies which, given her EMT training appeared rather stupid.

Also, is it the adrenaline? Why do two people who have lusted after each other from afar but remained professional because there is too much at stake suddenly throw caution to the winds when their lives are threatened? Halfway through this tense, gripping thriller we stop for copious amounts of sex over and over again, I get that Quinn and Luke aren’t the detectives and can’t do the investigation themselves but it does seem odd.

Just to pile on the woe, Luke and Quinn both have shitty childhoods and angst-ridden back stories which I don’t think were necessary for the plot. Given the other stuff that was going on I think it could have been dispensed with frankly. Yet Luke apparently is zen enough to help Quinn get over the trauma of being kidnapped and threatened at gun-point 0 he knows just what she needs, yes of course, sex Is always the cure, right?

My only other criticism is that I found the other characters to be fairly indistinguishable. I couldn’t tell if they were cops, detectives or firefighters, grunt or superior officer they were just a morass of names.

I would still give one of this author’s books a try, she wrote some gripping thriller type stuff and maybe it was just the balance in this particular book that I found to be wrong.

A perfect blend of romance and suspense!

I wasn't actually expecting the amount of suspense that was here--several scenes literally had me on the edge of my seat throughout; obviously I was too distracted by that fantastic cover (and Luke) to have read all the way down on the synopsis. Or maybe I did read all the way down, but just forgot--again, I'm blaming that cover. The muscles! The blue eyes!

Either way, I'm not complaining.

I loved Luke and Quinn, both of whom live to take care of people while shying away from being taken care of themselves. Quinn is without family of her own so she's made her own among the friends she's found at work; Luke has two remaining family members and they're the only two people he lets himself be close to. In seven months at Station Seventeen, he's built up an armor around himself; he's put in extra shifts and extra work in order to get his paramedic license on top of being a firefighter but has kept himself carefully separate from his coworkers. But of course he's noticed them, especially Quinn...

Ms Kincaid did a great job balancing the romance and the suspense here. Just when I was fully pulled in to the romantic aspects of Quinn and Luke's relationship, she'd do something to bring the danger they were in back to the forefront and have the hairs on the back of my neck standing straight up. The drama at the climax--ack!--was intense. Fortunately the ending made it all more than worth it...

In Too Deep is the third book in the series, but would work fine as a standalone. Prior to this I'd only read one of the series novellas-- Deep Check , the one with the hockey player in it, of course!--and wasn't at all lost. The men and women of Station Seventeen (and Precinct Thirty-Three) make up a fantastic family, and I can't wait to read more from the series soon!

Luke doesn't let anyone in including women, so when he is partnered up with the one person he does not want in the struggle begins.
Quinn is a nurturer she just wants to make sure everyone is taken care of especially her friends in Station 17. Being assigned to train Luke is probably the hardest thing she has to do.
They never expected their first call together to turn into a dangerous situation. One that only they will get through together. They have to decide how to deal with this and whether to trust their friends or not. While trying to support each other the sexual tension grows as well as the stress of their secret.
What a story I couldn't put it down. The way the suspense weaves in leaves you on the edge of your seat, while the tension between the two of them leave you breathless.

I can't rate this book fairly because for me it was really hard and I'm gonna tell you why.

1.  It was a well-written book that I think readers should read only if you know a couple of things going into it and are okay with it. Also, know going into it that it's kind of like a spin-off of Chicago Fire and Chicago PD

2.  There was so much cussing and the use of the Lords name in vain that it overshadowed the book for me and I wanted to put it on my DNF pile, but I read it to the end because I felt I owed it to the readers

3.  It's kind of critical when writing a book with paramedics to get the logistics correct medically.  When you take a blood pressure reading it's imperitive that you get the systolic and diastolic of the blood pressure reading correctly.  If your blood pressure is reading 60/80...you're dead - just saying!  Please flip those numbers because for medical personnel reading your books - we're gonna call you out.  It's just life.

4.  I felt the PTSD component was handled correctly, however, we will not release someone to do their job if we feel it's going to be detrimental to other peoples safety.  We're just not going to do it.

I could keep going, but I won't because it's not in me to be petty and to be honest the core of the book was good.  If you like the shows above, then you'll love this book.  If you love the GD word and Lord's name in vain in every single sentence, then you'll love this book.  I don't. As a matter of fact, I have a rule in the house that if a show says it more than once - it gets turned off.  I think that when you start using curse words so much in your books it's because you can't formulate a proper sentence and come up with others and this might seem harsh and I'm really sorry, but for those that don't want to see 10,325 cuss words (I might be exaggerating) this book isn't gonna be your cup of tea.  If you want a heroine that deals with her PTSD through sex and drinking, then this probably isn't the book for you either.  Is this book well-written other than the extreme language?  Yes, and it would have been really good had it not been for that because the plot had some really good things going for it.  The interactions with the other characters were great, but this was the first book I had read by this author and although I really like the series that I read so far - I can honestly say that I probably can't continue it.  I can't overlook and condone the excessiveness and excuse the language.  I just find it unnecessary and when is it enough?

I was given an ARC copy in exchange for an honest opinion.  All opinions expressed are my own and do not reflect anyone else's.

4 1/2 STARS!

With the next book in her Station Seventeen series, Kimberly Kincaid brings us the sexy story of rookie Luke Slater and paramedic Quinn Copeland. While the plot is reminiscent of a past Chicago Fire “kidnap the rookie and paramedic, make them care for wounded, threaten them” story line, it still was an entertaining read to watch the flirting crushes that Luke and Quinn had on each other turn into red-hot passion!

Rookie firefighter Luke Slater has been working on getting his paramedic certification at the same time as his firefighting gig, so when Quinn is all of a sudden without a partner for a few shifts, Luke is put on rotation with her. They both secretly are attracted to the other, but hesitant to be the first to admit it. When danger comes knocking on their first shift together, they have to stand behind each other at all costs!

Paramedic Quinn Copeland will do anything to keep her friends at Station Seventeen safe. They are as close as family and when a madman threatens to take her and everything around her down, Quinn will fight back with all she has. With danger at every corner, will they be able to overcome it and have a future together?

In Too Deep by Kimberly Kincaid
Station Seventeen #3

Quinn Copeland has worked at Station Seventeen for five years when her partner is injured and Luke Slater, rookie fireman and EMT training to be a paramedic, becomes her new partner. The two have been very aware of one another since their first encounter but neither has acted on the chemistry between them…until…they are suddenly thrust into a situation that threatens not only them but all those they hold dear. Both have suffered losses in the past and do not want harm to come to anyone they know and care about in the future. As they deal with the aftershocks of their experience, work with those in charge of an investigation, continue to work together and eventually become more than work only partners they also have a ruthless murderer to contend with as he begins to circle in on them and those they love. This book is action-packed and deals with issues such as suicide, loss, PTSD and assault – it ends on a positive note and does not require the reader to have read previous books in the series.

Thank you to NetGalley and Barclay Publicity for the ARC – This is my honest review.

In Too Deep is another in the Station Seventeen Series by Kimberly Kincaid. This book is one of opposite personalities thrown together in work than attraction between them begins to sizzle. While Luke is reserved and Quinn is gregarious, they have the same values and beliefs so in reality they are not different where it counts.

This electrifying romance had the added depth to the characters and their lives that I have come to expect from Kimberly Kincaid. The plot is well-developed with intense situations that that can happen in life. In fact, the first happens early on, which is a catalyst to the attraction between Luke and Quinn, making In Too Deep an exhilarating read.

I have read one other book of this series. I say that to be able to clearly state that this read very well as a stand-alone.

A wild action-packed story from beginning to end. Quinn and Luke are the perfect couple, each having histories that provide instant understanding and attraction without overdoing any relationship reservations. The bad guy was one I loved to hate, always popping up to keep the tension growing and the story moving. That was tempered with the usual camaraderie of the Station 17 crew – which I love. They add a family aspect to all the chaos. And finally, Kimberly Kincaid’s romances wouldn’t be complete without the flaming hot romance perfect for a firehouse. Loved it.

So I'm a fan of the Station Seventeen series, basically because it's the romantic suspense/action trope and I love those ones. Here we have Luke and Quinn, both part of Station Seventeen, both paramedics. One is a trainee, that would be Luke and yes Quinn is the superior officer. Where Luke is holding back in terms of his personal life, Quinn considers the station her family. They also happen to have the hots for each other albeit not acted upon until the onset of a traumatic event, which I shall not expound on as to prevent spoilers. Basically this plot device accelerated the interaction between these two making them confront a lot of issues. This paved the way for the romantic relationship to develop fully. All in all this was a fast paced and edgy romantic suspense with great character development. It definitely is a welcome addition to the Station Seventeen series. Can't wait for the next one.

This is a great book; this book is the third book in the Station Seventeen series written by Kimberly Kincaid. As Station Seventeen’s rookie, Luke Slater knows his fire and EMS training will be both rigorous and risky, but he never imagined having to partner up with the one woman he wants to keep at arm’s length most of all. Quinn Copeland is as wide-open as Luke is reserved. He has no interest in letting the sweet and sexy paramedic rock his hard-earned control. But the need for composure becomes the need to survive when they find themselves in the crosshairs of a brutal gang leader on their first shift together. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
