I would like to thank Bonnier Zaffre and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Anything For Her’ by G J Minett in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
Following the death of their parents Mia and Billy are very close and when Mia is diagnosed as having a terminal illness Billy rushes home to spend time with her. But Billy bumps into his ex-girlfriend Aimi from when they were at school and Aimi asks him to help fake her death to get away from her abusive husband and his controlling family. When Aimi does disappear the police believe Billy knows more about it than he’s saying.
I enjoyed reading ‘Anything For Her’, it had a clever plot, the characters were interesting and the storyline involving. There were enough twists and turns to keep me guessing and a conclusion that was surprising.

They say that love is blind, well that is certainly true in this gripping, twist packed, roller coaster ride of a thriller.Billy Orr has returned home so that he can spend some time with his dying sister Mia.Whilst they are out doing some shopping Billy is surprised when he unexpectedly bumps into his childhood sweetheart Aimi.He might not have seen her for eleven years but he has never forgotten her and would still do anything for her.So when she explains that she wants to escape her abusive husband,Billy agrees to help her fake her own death. It's only after Aimi has disappeared that Billy slowly starts to realise that perhaps Aimi had different reasons for disappearing and that maybe she is not the same girl he knew and loved all those years ago.Billy was a complex character who was highly intelligent but obviously had some serious issues. It was difficult not to feel sympathy for the poor bloke despite the fact that it was his own blind faith and actions that have caused him to get caught up in the aftermath of Aimi`s lies.

I was hooked by this riveting thriller from the first page, right through to the shocking, unexpected conclusion. The interactions between the various, well developed characters where realistic and believable especially the passive/aggressive interactions between Billy and Mia.I highly recommend this twist packed tale of families, relationships, lies secrets, deception and manipulation. As the old saying says ``There's none so blind as those who will not see``

This mystery thriller took me a while to get into and, to be honest, were it not for the glowing reviews posted on Goodreads, I’d have given up. However, I’m glad I persevered as, once you get into it, it’s a well told tale with twists and turns and a satisfying ending.
Worth a read.
Thanks for Netgalley, GJ Minett and the publishers for the opportunity to review.

I received an ARC from NetGalley to read and review. The below is my honest, unbiased opinion. Thank you, GJ Minett, the publisher, and NetGalley, for allowing me to review.

You'd do anything for the one that got away . . . wouldn't you? When Billy Orr returns home to spend time with his dying sister, he bumps into his ex-girlfriend Aimi, the love of his life. He might not have seen her in eleven years, but Billy's never forgotten her. He'd do anything for her then, and he'd do anything for her now. When Aimi tells him that she wants to escape her abusive husband, Billy agrees to help her fake her own death. But is she still the Aimi that Billy remembers from all those years ago? Once Aimi disappears, Billy has to face the possibility that perhaps she had different reasons for disappearing - reasons that might be more dangerous than she's led him to believe . . . Sometimes trusting the one you love is the wrong thing to do.

ANYTHING FOR HER by GJ Minett is a thrilling psychology thriller with mystery elements. I think we've all wondered what we'd do for the one that got away, so this book is already extremely relatable--even if we haven't helped our ex fake his/her own death. The writing was clean, captivating, and the character development was fantastic. My heart ached for Billy throughout this entire book. First, his sister is dying, and then he discovers the love of his life is being abused by her husband. And then she uses him to fake her own death. And then he discovers she may not be the person he remembers. He just can't catch a break, and you truly do feel for him. I credit that to Minett's superb writing. I couldn't put this one down!

I’ve heard lots of great things about this authors books so couldn’t put off reading one any longer.

This is one of those stories that really intrigued me and kept me turning the pages.

I really liked Mia, Billy’s sister. She has been part mother and sister to him for a lot of years and constantly worries about him. Even though Billy loves and respects his sister, he is determined to take control of his life and live it his way. I think bumping into Aimi makes him even more determined. Instead of just existing. Aimi seems to waken him from inside.

Billy is a bit of an odd ball. He has been through a rough time and I think meeting Aimi gives him purpose in life and even though he knows he probably shouldn’t get involved, he likes her to much to say no. I have to admit to being concerned and wishing he would take his sister’s advice though.

There really isn’t much more I can say about the story as to do so would give to much away. What I will say though is, Anything For Her is a story full of deceit with a very unexpected outcome. Very cleverly written so I had no idea what was in store for me and I have to say I just loved the ending. Will certainly be reading more of the authors books.

I came across this author just over 12 months ago when I received his debut novel 'The Hidden Legacy' and what a pleasure that was to read. I have since read and enjoyed his 2nd novel 'Lie in Wait' and fully intend to read every other novel he writes in the future. The Hidden Legacy was an outstanding debut novel, an easy 5 star rating but such a standard to live up to. I have enjoyed both the other books which have both been a very good standard but not quite up there. Do yourself a favour give this author a read, you won't be disappointed.
This book took me a while to get into, but that is probably down to me and features the character Billy Orr who returns back home to be with his dying sister. When he is back home he bumps into his ex-girlfriend Aimi, who was the love of his life and he has never forgotten although he hasn't seen her for eleven years. Aimi tells Billy about her abusive husband and that she wants to escape from him. She feels her only way out is to fake her own death and she asks Billy to help her.
After Aimi's disappearance Billy starts to question whether she had other reasons for wanting to flee and if their actions might be more dangerous than he first thought.

I would like to thank Net Galley and Bonnier Zaffre for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Some men can’t resist a damsel in distress and Billy Orr has a hard time saying no to old girlfriend Aimi when she comes to him, desperate for help. Her husband, she tells him, is a monster and he will never let her go. The only way she can escape him is to die, so Billy agrees to help Aimi fake her own death. It’s only after Aimi “dies” that Billy begins to wonder just what he’s done and why. I really liked this story of a nice guy caught up in a situation way out of his control. The fact that Billy has come home to be with his dying sister and gets enmeshed in this bizarre scheme only heightens the pathos and brings true meaning to the phrase “No good deed goes unpunished”
