Really enjoyed this crime thriller. Great cast of characters and a gripping and entertaining plot with enough twists and surprises to keep this reader guessing. I Couldn't put it down.

I found this book a little hard to love purely as I like to connect with the characters and it's so hard doing that in this book when they're all not nice. It was a little gross in places. Sadly not a book for me

This was a gripping and compelling read about twins Callie and Tilda. Tilda is a well known actress and Callie is a 'normal' ordinary girl.
If creepy, suspense thrillers are your genre then you will not be disappointed with this book. It has all the factors you need - love, jealousy, abuse, and enough of a head mess to not put the book down until you have finished it.

Callie is an ordinary young woman who works part time in a bookstore and lives an ordinary life. Her twin sister, Tilda is a well loved actress who lives life to the full. Callie is obsessed with Tilda and they spend most of their time together. But then Tilda meets Felix and things start to change when Callie worries about how controlling he is and the changes in her sister. Her obsession moves to a whole new level after she signs up to a forum called Controllingmen. She gets dragged down a dark and violent pathway in her endeavours to protect her sister.... but how far will she go to ensure her safety. The twists and turns in this book will keep you turning the pages until you have reached the conclusion. A great read.

This book was like watching a horrible accident taking place- you don't want to be involved with it but you can't seem to drag yourself away from it!

Tilda & Callie were twins. Tilda was the pretty confident one, Callie wants to absorb her- the eating bit was pretty gross! If ever a child psychologist was needed it was with these two- their Mum seemed so nice & ordinary!

They grew up. Tilda became an actress whilst Callie worked part time in a book shop. They met together for film nights until one night Tilda wants her to meet Felix, the man in her life. Before long Callie adds Felix to her obsessions, convinced he is manipulating and abusing Tilda. When Callie becomes equally obsessed with a web forum about abused women things really get out of hand.

The author does a brilliant job of portraying these deeply disturbed & dislikable people. I'd give the book three stars because I really didn't like it but that is a purely personal take on it. I couldn't stop reading it & it absorbed me so I had to read to the end as quickly as I could. That it would usually merit five stars so I've averaged it out at a four. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for letting me read & review this disturbing book.

I really struggled with this one but did make it to the end! The biggest barrier was my lack of engagement with the characters (none of whom I liked) but it also didn't help that it all just felt totally implausible. I thought the premise was great and I really wanted to like it but sadly I found it rather disappointing.

This isn't a perfect book by any stretch of the imagination. The characters are all unpleasant and hard to like, so if you need story with characters you can root for, this probably isn't for you. At the same time, there's something compelling about it that keeps you reading as you unravel what really went on and discover the truth behind who people appear to be. If you're intrigued by narcissists and their behaviour, this is a fantastic read. If you're not, then probably not so much.

Psychological thrillers featuring twins (especially the one good, one bad) are so hot right now. I’ve read a lot of books in my time, but this has to be one of the creepiest, messed up yet. I’m not talking dismemberment of murder victims or gratuitous scenes of violence, I mean uncomfortable behaviour that seriously made me squirm.

From page one, your attention is captured, and you are so quickly drawn into the world of Callie, Tilda, and Felix. A soon as I started reading, everything just felt so off, and I couldn’t quite put my finger on why . There was something odd and screamingly intense about every single character. For the first few chapters I had alarm bells ringing in my head as it resonated with The Talented Mr Ripley by Patricia Highsmith. I am reading more and more thrillers these days (or should that be mystery-suspense) that are drawing parallels with classic noir (and I am not complaining) and I did initially think that White Bodies might go along that path of Tom Ripley, with the uncomfortable and unlikely threesome spending disturbing amounts of time together, but it did not.

Robins drops a MASSIVE clue early on where everything is going , it’s so in your face that I actually did miss it. I was too wrapped up in the nod to Ripley and my own theories to notice, which was a fantastic smokescreen.

Jane Robbins creates an amazing work of suspense, intrigue, and family relationship in White Bodies. The relationship between Callie and Tilda forms the heart of the novel, leaving the reader to judge who needs who more. Callie is quiet and reserved and works in a bookstore whereas Tilda is a semi-famous extroverted actress who has always overshadowed Callie, even in childhood. Callie has been dominated by Tilda all her life, an in some scenes we see Tilda’s subtle, manipulative cruelty to Callie. It all becomes even more complicated when Felix, the hedge fund manager, appears on the scene. Tilda begins withdrawing, losing weight, maybe abusing herself or being abused by Felix, putting her career in jeopardy, all seemingly due to Felix’s controlling obsessive compulsiveness. Callie can’t just leave things alone and she becomes more and more obsessed with finding out the truth, however it is almost impossible for her to separate the truth from the fiction as she becomes entangled in a web of deceit that may unravel her.

White Bodies is a bit of a slow burner, certainly the first half of the story is about setting the scene and development of characters, and they are truly awful, but in a good way. Robins does a great job creating two different and unreliable sisters here that leave us wondering who was the unreliable one and who was the one to trust. I could empathise slightly with Callie, but at times she grated on me like nails down a chalkboard.

Set in London, White Bodies is told in first person from Callie’s point of view as the timeline moves seamlessly from past to present day in alternating chapters. The reader is given background on the twins’ relationship with each other but also disturbing revelations of past events give a clue what could have shaped them into the characters they are today.

The quality of the writing is superb, the storytelling is a well crafted web of suspense that tied the truth and lies intricately together, completely throwing me for a loop and off-balance. White Bodies as a whole is an entirely satisfying if extremely disconcerting read. If you like safe reads that keep you in your comfort zone then this one isn’t for you, however if you like to push your limits with a little with something that will make you feel like you have ants itching all over your skin, then give White Bodies a try.

Unsettling, uncomfortable, creepy, disconcerting and outright disturbing, but most of all entertaining. I received an advanced review copy of White Bodies, thanks to Jane Robbins and publisher Harper Collins.

A very unusual and occasionally unpleasant novel about two sister Callie and Tilda..Callie is convinced that Tilda's new boyfriend is controlling her, and hurting her.She log onto a site called \controlling men, and chats with several women who are experiencing the same thing.
Eventually she becomes obsessed by the whole thing, and starts to snoop her sister's flat when they are away on holiday. Then she gets sucked into meeting a rather strange young woman in |York, who tries to bribe her into killing her boyfriends if she gets rid of Felix.
The twist at the end of this novel is unusual, unexpected but very difficult to either understand, or have any feelings for the people involved.
Thank to Net Galley, and the publishers for a llowing me to read this.

White bodies by jane robbins.
Callie loves Tilda. She’s her sister, after all. And she’s beautiful and successful.
Tilda loves Felix. He’s her husband. Successful and charismatic, he is also , suspicious and, possibly, Still, Tilda loves Felix.
And Callie loves Tilda. Very, very much.
So she’s determined to save her. But the cost could destroy them all…
Sometimes we love too much.
A good Read. Bit slow but read it. So only 4*.

This is a creepy little number; a book where you think you have it all figured out and then when you realise that you've been played and how well you have been played, you want to go and read it all over again with fresh eyes.
I thought that the plot and the style of writing were spot on. Whilst Callie and Tilda are strange characters that perhaps weren't as developed as I would generally like, in this instance this worked really well. Whilst Callie comes across as neurotic and a bit of a dreamer and a drifter, Tilda is as much of an enigma in her own way. I was never entirely sure who or what to trust, and the creeping sense that the book was building to a terrible climax kept me turning the pages frantically to see what was going to happen.
Thanks go to the publishers and net galley for the advanced copy in return for an honest review.

A really good, if sometimes uncomfortable, read. The main character Callie is seriously odd, but that said so are most of the characters in this book! A good story that flowed well throughout.

An unusual title and book, though one that I would recommend. The 'white bodies' of the title refers to a scene in the book and is mainly set around two sisters and the husband of one of the sisters.

I'm reluctant to say too much about this book without risking giving away the ending and twist which I think is worth reading for. Answer these questions: What makes this book different from all others? And why should anyone care?

I think that the only criticism I have of the book is actually in keeping with its psychological thriller genre in that it's pretty sickly creepy in parts. The lead character is definitely odd. In fact in this respect i would liken the book to Girl on the Train only in the sense that you;'re not sure what to think because the main character is clearly not thinking straight.

I was blown away by this debut novel from Jane Robins. A psychological thriller full of twists and turns it is the story of twins Callie and Tilda. Callie is the quieter twin who worships her more enigmatic sister to the point of obsession. She is meticulous in recording her thoughts and feeling about Tilda in her dossier.

The novel opens with the death of Felix, Tilda’s husband of just a few weeks. In a series of flashbacks, told from Callie’s point of view, we see how Tilda and Felix meet and how Callie becomes concerned about the influence that Felix appears to be exerting over Tilda who is a ‘resting’ actor. Callie’s concerns lead to her involvement with members of an internet forum for abused women and those who seek to help them.

The novel moves along at a good pace and I struggled to put it down. Although annoying on occasions Callie is a good narrator and the characters are all well drawn. It is a cracking read and I hope the author writes more.

I received a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley and publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thank you

I have mixed feelings about White Bodies and while I think it's interesting read I have some reservations. Firstly it took me some time to get into, as it flits between two times and sadly I didn't really like either main character. I did enjoy the twist on the story but found it a little to far-fetched. Overall I'd rate the book 3 stars as it was entertaining.

A very clever well thought out plot to this novel and written fantastically but .......half way into to it ii had pretty much already thought that I knew what was going on and I was right on quite a few things occurring but not so much on a couple of others. I did love callies characters the most but she is so gullible in so many ways which in some ways is very downfall as if she sets herself up for it.
Well worth the read but it didn’t grab me in a way a thriller is meant to.
