A truly dark and disturbing read, it takes a lot to creep me out, but white bodies succeeded. I loved it!

I will recommend this book for my book club. I was not sure at first where the book was going but i was slowly reeled in and did not see the twist at the coming at all. There is so much to discuss here, the characters, how the author drew us to make decisions about characters and then the lot itself. Not a book for someone who needs a fast pace but a jewel.

The Stranger on a Train novel that isn't.

The story is told through the eyes of Callie and through her journal that she writes in obsessively. All that she knows, or think she knows, about her sister - her twin, as she follows her and tracks her life. The clever twin. The beautiful twin. The tragic twin. The abused twin. Or is she?

And then Callie finds a site for abused women or men and gets drawn into deep conspiracy theories and perhaps even murder.

Callie also suffers from Pica  in relation to her sister's objects - she thinks by eating these items her sister is somehow drawn into her own essence it would be appear.

So this is a strange book but a compelling read. You follow Callie through all her different beliefs and her obsession with her sister's life and are drawn into her  worldview. Where nothing is quite what it might appear - or is it?

‘White Bodies‘ has an intriguing story to tell, at points it hangs a bit to much on a single idea though which forces the reader in a certain direction. For that reason it took me some time to really get into this book, to get hooked by it. You know there will be twists in the story and it simply took me too long before this happened.
Robins tries to get into the mind of Hitchcock and pulls out a story which could have been his, a reference to him is repeatedly made by recalling ‘Strangers on a Train‘.

Nevertheless I liked this book; Robins’ writing style is good and she manages to turn events in the end in a Hitchcock kind of way. Somehow predictable but with a twist.

Dark and really quite creepy, its not graphic just well written, its not too long and although it leans towards some other books I have read in this genre it does stand out.

Two very different sisters for the basis and it all starts to go wrong when one of the sisters meets and falls in love with a new man. So far so familiar . The relationship between the sisters is not quite as it could be and once one sister joins a website for victims of abuse it all starts to unravel

A slow burning psychological thriller that makes the reader question just who is bad, crazy or mad. Thoughts alternate between the twins, Callie and Tilda and their sometimes bizarre relationship.
When glamorous Tilda falls in love with wealthy American, Felix, is Callie right to be worried about his motives? When the rather ordinary Callie looks to the Internet for help with 'controlling men', is she becoming too obsessed with her sister's relationship?
While I was fairly certain of some of the plot halfway through the book, it did not deter my enjoyment as there were many small unnoticed clues scattered throughout. This well written story leaves no stone unturned and while I was possibly hoping for a more dramatic ending, it was quite fitting.

I think this book wasn't for me. I found it awkward, disturbing and creepy - and not in a good way. The only thing that kept me reading was the fact that the story flowed quite well so it wasn't tedious going. I just kept wondering what on earth am I reading? Again, not in a good way. I think it was too much flat out creepy/disturbing for me whilst lacking depth to make it work. I'm glad to see that so many people did like it as I feel like this story has real potential. It just wasn't right for me at the moment.

This could be one of the creepiest and cringiest books I have ever read.

The characterisation in this book is PHENOMENAL - you feel uncomfortable reading it. However, I wouldn't say that the book is particularly thrilling, much more a creepy, psychological thriller. This kind of talented writing of character is particularly shown in Callie. Callie has a VERY dry, awkward and inappropriate sense of humour and personality, and although this is amusing, it's hard to connect to her in the beginnings of the story. However, through some of the most disturbingly, crazy plot-twist events of the book, I grew more fond of Callie's character. Also, the focus on the childhood of the twins is such an interesting insight into their early life - even if you don't like the girls as characters, you can't deny they are unique.

After the first few chapters, the story definitely picks up and becomes more fast-paced, the characterisation draws you in and you find yourself hooked on trying to figure out the mystery, which keeps you guessing until the very end! Every part is more twisted, but you find yourself addicted anyway.

Overall, this was a slow-building read, I wasn't hooked from the first page, and it took me a while to get into the story. However, the character-driven plot is well written and fleshed out throughout the story, which gives you a captivating read. I would recommend this book to thriller lovers, who like a good creepy story, but not particularly to those who want the fast-paced thrills of some thrillers on the market. Overall 4.25 stars! This book does deserve more buzz and more acclaim, which I don't see it getting so far!

This book keeps you guessing as to how it will turn out. Somethings are not quite as they seem and takes an unexpected direction but one which fits the narrative.

Gripping and you will want to find out the end.

I am afraid this book wasn't for me. A bit heavy going at times so all in all not for me

I enjoyed this book, particularly because I thought it was going in one direction but turned out to be different. A good solid four stars from me.

When Callie gets invited to her sister Tilda's flat to watch a movie, it turns out it's also to meet Tilda's new boyfriend - Felix.  He is handsome, charming, successful, and a little bit odd. 
For Felix, control, order and structure are everything it seems - so much so he redecorates Tilda's apartment so that it is all white walls and clean lines. 
Suddenly, Callie's chaotic, brightly coloured and oh so much alive sister, seems to be disappearing.  And Callie is worried, especially when she sees bruises on Tilda's arms and can't get her sister to talk to her. 
Convinced Felix is bad for Tilda, Callie starts digging, into his past and his personality and alienating the couple as a result.  Thankfully, Callie has her online friends to help her though.  That is if they are friends and if none of what she is seeing doesn't have a perfectly reasonable explanation. 
In the "is Tilda in danger or isn't she?" way, White Bodies is really clever, keeping me questioning pretty much through to the end thanks to Callie being an incredibly unreliable and off the wall narrator.  I honestly wasn't sure where the truth lay or whether I was rooting for Callie or wanted her to leave Tilda alone and go sit in a dark room till she calmed down. 
In other ways, though, this book felt like a bit of a let down for me.  In part, because of the same reason I liked it - Callie.  I love unreliable narrators but I didn't love her.  After a while, her behaviour (which was rather odd) grated on me a bit.  I could have done with a second voice to cut through but this book is written from her point of view and everyone else is just seen through her eyes. 
The other problem is the twist at the end.  I saw it coming, though I had convinced myself I was wrong because it started to feel a bit too obvious.  Whilst I read a lot of this genre and am often not surprised, here I think I had decided to expect more so felt disappointed - making it my own fault, I know but there you go - a reader's mind is a strange thing sometimes. 
So, very much like The Marriage Pact earlier this week, I am left in two minds about how I felt about the book.  I enjoyed it, definitely, but I didn't love it as much as I thought I might in those first few chapters and was left feeling a little wanting and a little frustrated.

This is one of the best books I have ever read, a truly gripping story line that will have you hooked from day one. The way the author has you entwined in the character’s personalities is so clever and the twists are brilliant. Having never read a story line of this intensity I am now a huge fan of the author and am hoping she will publish similar books.

I loved Kate’s style of writing and the fact that throughout the whole book we did not know who was mad, sane or telling the truth. For an author to able to achieve this is an amazing accomplishment.
Unfortunately, having said that, I cannot say that I really liked any of the characters or really enjoyed reading the book as it made for a really uncomfortable read with bizarre behaviour exhibited by nearly every character featured in the novel.
I would definitely read another of Jane’s books, but if it is fiction I hope it would be a lighter read than White Bodies.

White Bodies is written from the view of protagonist, Callie. Callie is quite introverted and perceptive of the people and world around her. Callie's twin sister Tilda, is the complete opposite and likes to be the centre of attention. Tilda gets into a new relationship with Felix. To begin with, Callie thinks Felix is charming and wonderful. And then she starts to have an inkling that something isn't quite right between her sister and her new beau. Callie becomes obsessed with trying to find out what's going on between them.

I enjoyed this book and it was definitely a page turner. I liked how you kept going between Callie and Tilda and trying to figure out who was the "bad" one. I just felt as though the ending should've had more punch to it.. with more of a shock factor.

Superb, I can normally guess the ending of most books, but this had me wondering right up to the end. Excellent writing, very believable, and a total triumph for the writer.

A very readable and well-paced psychological thriller. A very original storyline which really kept me hooked from start to finish. I shall be keeping an eye out for future novels.

Tilda and Callie are twins. But they are not much alike. Tilda is the beautiful, talented girl everybody loves. Callie is shy and likes to watch and observe her sister. She is a bit obsessed by her and wants to protect her.

As adults, Tilda is an actress and gained a bit of fame. Callie works part-time in a book shop. Tilda is still a very important person for Callie. Callie loves to spent time with her sister and hardly has a life of her own. Then Tilda falls in love with a man. Felix is good looking, successful and charming. Callie likes him at first and they include her in much of their activities. But as time goes by, Callie feels that Tilda is changing. She begins to find clues that Felix is harming Tilda. But Tilda is denying it. She is very determined that she loves Felix and is very happy. Callie finds a website for women who are suffering from an abusive relationship. She soon finds people to talk to and share her fears for her sister.

I have a bit of mixed feelings for this book. The story is not very new. I read a lot of stories about sister who have a toxic relationship. The writing style is good but I could not really connect to the story. What I did like was that is has a very weir character as a narrator. Callie is strange. She lives willingly in the shadow of her glamorous sister. She does not envy her, she just wants to be part of her life and be the number one person for her. She develops strange behaviors like f.e. she feels the urge to eat things which belonged to Tilda, like her hair or her baby teeth. It is really disturbing.

What I also liked was that feeling that something sinister is going on right from the beginning. The main characters are all not very likeable. They are all weird and have issues. But somehow I liked that. It made it hard to work out what was going on. I had an idea but I did not figure it out entirely.

The book has its flaws and the idea of the story is not new. It is full of clichés. Tilda is the extraordinary beauty who charms everyone and Tilda is the shy sibling who thinks she is ugly and fat but of course everybody else thinks she is lovely and pretty. But I enjoyed reading about those creepy people. The story is twisted and keeps you guessing. It was an easy read, nothing spectacular but a solid and entertaining read.

Wow! What a rollercoaster ride of a book.!

I loved this book and could not put it down. It has so many twists and turns and I have to admit it kept me guessing almost to the end which is great.

It is incredibly creepy and cringe worthy in places which at times made me recoil in horror (I have to say that it's not gory in anyway). Such a great psychological thriller with some fantastic characters.

It's about two women (Callie and Tilda) who are twins when Tilda starts a new relationship with Felix, a charming if not slightly OCD hedge hunter. Callie becomes suspicious of Felix and his ways so she starts researching on the internet about the tell-tale signs of abuse when she gets chatting to two women, one being a friend of someone who is being abused and the other being abused herself by her partner. This interaction makes Callie more paranoid and so the obsessions starts.

It's a real page turner, I was utterly engrossed as things progressed.

Brilliant read! Would highly recommend to anyone who likes a dark, twisty story.

I’m no expert on twin behavior but this? Giving me the creeps, and I mean both of the girls, Tilda and Callie. Both of them need psychological help. Right from the start I started to wonder who was telling the truth and which one of the girls was the liar. I flew through the book, turning the pages not able to stop reading. The suspense building with every chapter made this book a real joy to read and I liked it a lot. The ending though.... Not a fan of it. Would have loved the one responsible for all the crimes to be held accountable. But besides that, “White Bodies” is a thriller I can recommend to everyone. I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. Thanks to NetGalley and HQ!
