Adam Kingston is not pleased when he learns his father bequeathed half of his business empire to his rival, Nate Thomas. His other problem is that Kinston Corp is losing money due to his father's mismanagement. Adam is a slick, bisexual businessman who keeps his same-sex trysts on the down-low. Meanwhile, Nate is an out and proud environmentalist who wants to save the world with Kingston Corp. His plans are to increase research and development of the green wing of Kinston's businesses. Adam's plans involve scaling back the environmental projects, and working on new technologies that could drive new revenue. A researcher at heart, Adam's more than happy to roll his sleeves up, but not with Nate.

While their ideologies clash, Adam's very much attracted to Nate's body--and this kicks up hard when he learns Nate has a passion for manties--sexy lace and satin briefs. Adam's a bit manic, and his desire to master Nate drives him to make compromises that might actually help lift Kingston Corp into the black.

This is kinda a fun one, though the romance developed a bit to fast for my liking. Adam's so angry with Nate, and yet this gets switched off entirely because of manties? That was hard for me to buy. That said, Nate is not some submissive man; in fact, he takes the upper hand in nearly all their interactions, both professional and personal. They are truly committing to saving Kingston Corp, and learn to navigate their business and personal relationship in mutually beneficial ways. I liked how it ended, and the tenderness that did develop between these former enemies-turned-lovers.

There were so many things I liked about this book. The MCs. Their attraction. Enemies to lovers. Conflict. Kink. Fan-yourself hotness. Angst. Boy did I love Adam and Nate. But...ever feel like you walked into the middle of a conversation? That's kind of how I feel about this book.

This needed to be a full-sized novel in order to fully explore these characters and to give them their due diligence, story, backstory, and the HEA they deserved. This to me, was an awful lot of angst and not enough story, not enough information to support it, and too-quick of a resolution that just was not the happy I wanted for them. I enjoyed this read, but it's definitely a missed opportunity here that could've turned good into great.

First, let me say that men in manties is not one of my favorite things. I can understand how others are into the idea, though, and thought the premise was interesting. Enemies to lovers is definitely one of my favorite things, though, and it's the whole reason I wanted to read Lace-Covered Compromise.

Adam is a spoiled, cold, obnoxious man who's just found out, upon his father's passing, that he's not being handed complete ownership of his father's company as he had thought he would be. Instead, he's to own half, with his enemy, Nate, receiving the other half. Nate, the kind hippie (Adam's words, not mine) freak that Adam has always hated because Nate doesn't put up with Adam's bs. As Nate and Adam try to come up with some type of compromise, some kind of plan for the company that their board will accept, somehow the two fall into bed together. Discovering that Nate likes to wear brightly colored lace manties really turns Adam on and it surprises Adam to find he likes it, but he goes with it, boy does he go with it. Adam is bi, but closeted, and Nate is happy and out. What are two such diametrically opposed men to do about the situation they've found themselves in?

Well, in Adam's case, he wallows in his self-pity, he gets seriously anxious, enough that he is constantly on the verge of one of his frequent panic attacks, attacks Nate for having the nerve to be so sexy and so dominant in the bedroom, but yet, so sweet that Adam can't possibly handle it, and bails right after one of their rounds of mind blowing sheet time. That they ever manage to get back together is all because Adam has an awesome best friend, Valerie, who is the real star of this story, and because Nate has the patience of a saint.

I wanted to really like Lace-Covered Compromise, but I just couldn't. Adam was too much of a d bag, there was too much nattering on in his own mind, Nate's POV was never presented, and the ending was less than satisfying. I do like Nate, Valerie, and the sexy times between Nate and Adam and the fact that Nate was the dominant one and that Adam finally listened to him when they were in the bedroom, but I didn't like anything else. I wanted more of Nate's thoughts, more of his backstory, and I also wouldn't have minded a lot more of Valerie and Adam's relationship. As Lace-Covered Compromise is written, though, I just didn't end up caring about it or about Adam, and since the story is all from Adam's POV, I couldn't rate it higher.

Sexy cover! Adam's father leaves him only half of the family company. The other half goes to Nate - and the two don't get along. Until Adam sees Nate's pink panties. It was good to watch Adam grow up and become a better person.

Honestly, the best description that I can come up with for Lace-Covered Compromise is cute. Cliche, I know, but what can I say? There’s absolutely nothing wrong with cute by the way.

Adam was awkward and heartbroken and determined to keep his family’s business running and most importantly in the family. Nate had his own plans for the business that he was left to co-run by Adam’s father and they didn’t include being bullied and bossed around by Adam.

I loved these two together, once they got out of each other’s way. Adam did more to sabotage himself in the process of trying to get rid of Nate. Then there was the fact that Nate was out and Adam was firmly in the closet.

As well as being cute, Lace-Covered Compromise was also fun and did I mention sexy? Sometimes that’s all you need in a short, sweet read. 😉

I received Lace-Covered Compromise in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review. This is a fantastic book. The men are hot and the sex is hotter. Adam and Nate are thrown together by Adam’s father when he leaves his company to them as equal owners. They do not get along but as time goes by they hook up sexually and that is the beginning of a complicated but sexy relationship. The book is well written and keeps your attention. I would highly recommend this book.

4 Stars!

Adam expected to inherit his father's business when he passed, but the old man decided to leave half the business to Nate Thomas, the head of the environment research department, and Adam's nearly complete opposite. Nate and Adam clash every time they cross paths, but when Adam realizes what kind of sexy underwear Nate uses, he starts seeing him in another light. Will these two men manage to compromise to save Kingston Corp. and perhaps see that they work well in other areas of their lives?

Okay, so I kind of expected this book to be told from Nate's POV or at least to have a dual POV, don't ask me why, because I don't know. Still, I was a bit disappointed I only got Adam's point of view, because frankly, he wasn't a likable man and by the time he decided to try to make amends, I almost didn't care about liking him any longer. Nate seemed infinitely more likable, however, since we didn't get his POV, I don't think I got to know him as well as I would've liked. The chemistry between them was good, but my enjoyment of it got colored by my dislike of Adam.

I loved Adam's best friend, Valerie, though. She was a great sounding board for him, making him see reason and helping and supporting Adam along the way.

Overall, this was a nice read, it was well-written and hot and angsty, but it isn't my favorite Silvia Violet book. Still, I'll recommend it to those who enjoy enemies to lovers.

Adam is privileged and spoiled and when his father passes away, he expects to solely inherit his company, so he is shocked and angered to discover that his father left the company to both him and his father’s right hand man, Nate. Nate would like to compromise and try to revive the decaying company, but Adam wants to do things his way and won’t listen to reason. It doesn’t help their situation that Adam, who is bi and closeted, is attracted to Nate, especially when he catches site of Nate’s pink lace manties. Being attracted to Nate just angers and frustrates Adam further. Can these two men compromise and work together to save their company and maybe find love along the way?

This was a well-written story that flowed well, but I just didn’t connect with these characters. I absolutely despised Adam, he was a complete and utter twat and although Nate was a bit more likable, I didn’t really care for him all that much either. By the time Adam became somewhat likable towards the end of the story, for me, it was too little, too late, because I was just beyond fed up with him by this point.

I won’t deny these two men sizzled together, the sex scenes was plentiful and smoking hot, but I was missing the chemistry between them. I just didn’t feel it.

The story was interesting, but I wish the author had explained more clearly what the function of the company Adam and Nate co-owned was. Adam and Nate spend a lot of time talking about its departments, but I was never sure of what type of company it was exactly.

All in all, this wasn’t a bad story and I’m sure many will love it, but it just wasn’t for me.

I do LOVE a HOT book. And when Silvia Violet writes it, you can usually count on some smokin’ hot sex scenes to be sliding across your kindle like it’s coated with the lube that Valerie mentions knowing is Adam’s favorite brand. 😉 The even better part of her books is that she wraps around those sex scenes neatly with usually a great story, and The Lace Covered Compromise does all that!

If an enemies to lovers book is written well, the push and pull can make for some fantastic reading, and Ms. Violet does it very well. Written in first POV, we only see Adam’s view of his contentious relationship with Nate. However, there are frequent small glimpses of Nate not seeing their relationship in quite the same way that Adam does (at least when Adam isn’t being a complete a-hole).

Adam has to grow so much in this book, and he does, thanks to his father’s death, and the patient love of Nate. Oh, and the fact that Adam learns he likes to be controlled during sex, and apparently loves having his man wear some lace over his man bits. In the end, though, the portion of the title that is the most difficult for Adam to do, and the part that also creates the most growth for him is “compromise”. Not something he has ever had to do, he learns that it won’t kill him to compromise, even if it seems like he would be losing to do it.

The resolution to this issue seems a bit too easy for a man with Adam’s personality to do without an incredible amount of stress, but it works because at that point, he knows he has to choose between that, or his love for Nate.

And there is one piece that you almost never get in any romance novel that the author gives you here. A chance to see the MC’s actually BE in a relationship after all the work to fall in love and resolve their problems. You see Adam and Nate talk, go on a date, do normal things. The reader even gets to see Adam’s relationship with Valerie mature and become one where they are even more honest with each other.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the sex scenes…OH MY! The author is, shall we say, creative, and I loved every part of it. Even angry sex has its consequences, which are discussed as adult-like as the “no condom” conversation. I couldn’t stop reading this book! Thank goodness for the kindle app on my phone, so I could at least pretend to get some of my day job work done, while finishing the book. 🙂

Highly recommend, and this is a MUST re-read for me.

I love a good enemies to lovers story, and this one was just great! Adam comes off as a jerk for a lot of the story, but his anxiety makes him a much easier to relate to than he would have been otherwise. I love that Nate is both kind and strong. And the lace was as added bonus!

I love a hot man in a pair of sexy, silky, lacy manties and was so excited that this was a feature in this book. However, that wasn’t enough to make me love this book. Don't get me wrong, there is some super hot sex that includes the sexy, silky drawers, but again, not enough to make me want to keep reading. Adam and Nate were thrown into something I don't think either wanted.Because of that I can understand why Adam disliked Nate , but why had he always disliked him? I also felt myself having to go back and reread here and there because I felt a little lost. I’m not all mad at the book, but it wasn't something that grabbed me and make me want to devour the book in one sitting. I think if I had a little more backstory on the two and maybe a little of Nate’s POV, maybe it would have grabbed me a little more.

3.5 Stars. I enjoyed this in spite of Adam who was rather hard to like for a good chunk of the book. I love a good enemies to lovers book and this one definitely fit that category and had a some really hot "hate" sex. Adam is just hard to relate to and hard to like in the beginning. He is entitled, spoiled, stubborn, used to getting his way and prone to temper tantrums when he doesn't. It isn't until about half way through the book we realize that he's also insecure, lonely and scared. It doesn't excuse his behavior but it goes a long way towards making me not hate him. He really only has one true friend and she doesn't take any of his crap and sees him for exactly who he is.

We really only get a peek at Adam's relationship with his father because this book starts with his death and the fact that he gave half his company to Nate. We don't really get much background on Nate at all except that he is more of a do-gooder who loves the environment and is a people person. The two have to find a way to work together to save the company but they have radically different ideas and neither is very good at compromise. They have "hate" sex pretty quickly and I do love that Nate is the bossy one in the bedroom.

Adam isn't out and no one knows he is bisexual as opposed to Nate who is comfortable with who he is. I think for me the feelings were a bit quick and other than a couple of dates and a lot of sex there wasn't enough time to find it really believable. Adam can be a jerk and doesn't always treat Nate all that well but I loved that Nate didn't just instantly forgive him nor did he just let sex fix it. Adam had to step up with not only through actions but with his words as well.

So while I didn't love Adam and I wanted more character development from Nate I did enjoy this book and the sex was hot! This is my first book by Silvia Violet but I would definitely read more by her.

This was a great MM romance. The story begins with the pair really disliking one another, but they must work together. As the story progresses they learn to work together and develop a great relationship. The characters are well developed and the story was hard to put down. It was a wonderful story with a little kink.

Adam and Nate
Whoooop awesome read. A lot of fighting and arguing... they hate each other (ha! not)
Adams father left only the half of the company to him and the other half....to Nate

They are totally opposite about the future of the company and Adam goes straight to Nate to tell him the truth and to f* of.....walking in Nate's office there is a duffel bag and some pink lace peaks out. Adam is instant hard....

Both men struggle to work together but oh my.... they are sexy together....they fight and curse and are so hot for each other.
Nate is one sexy guy and knows exactly what Adam needs. Adam is so spoiled and doesn't even know how the act 'normal' but he knows he is attracted to Nate.

Adam shows some lousy act in the morning after spending the night at Nate home. Nate is done and icy toward Adam and Adam knows he has to confess his deep fears....

Told from Adam's pov and he has a very busy head which was awesome !! Wonderful written story I was totally in from page one. The way they loved and fight was highly sensual. The lace of course sexy as hell Both men strong, emotional and vulnerable and all put down in a very appealing way. Their personalities...... I loved them immensely
The story told in a strong witty way, the space was fast, feelings all over the floor.
The whole package.....I want to recommend!!

I really wanted to like this book. I mean, manties y'all! But sexy hot pink lacy boy shorts can only go so far in improving a story, and unfortunately Lace-Covered Compromise just did not work for me.

Under the terms of his father's will, Adam Kingston is forced to share ownership of Kingston Corp. with Nate Thomas, who heads up the company's Enviro division. Adam starts out as a total jerk in this enemies to lovers story ... well, actually, he's an asshole of epic proportions. Adam is a control freak and he's not interested in compromise in any way, shape or form; Adam's idea of managing the company along with Nate goes like this:

"It was time he understood that it was my place to decide the direction this company would go. He’d simply have to get on board.".

When Adams barges into Nate's office, he surprises Nate stuffing some pink lace panties back into his gym bag. Adam is intrigued, but his first reaction is "It was always good to know someone’s secrets. Someone’s hot, dirty secret." And after Adam basically stalks Nate (hacking into his phone) and finds him in a gay bar ("He was wearing a black tank top, jeans that were impossibly tight, and holy-fuck-me-now pink lipstick" with pink lace underneath), Adam threatens to out Nate: “I could tell the board about all this,” I said, gesturing to his outfit and around at the club."

Given the way Adam behaves for most of the book, I personally needed an epic "come to Jesus" moment of redemption in order to care about him. Adam has [panic attacks. I realize this can be a debilitating condition, but apparently being with Nate cures Adam of his panic attacks, rather than delving into his issues via therapy. (hide spoiler)] Finally, I need to know something about characters in order to care about them. It's almost as if Nate appeared from space; we know nothing about his family, friends, work history, very few personal quirks or qualities.

I loved, loved, loved Silvia Violet's Thorne and Dash series and am looking forward to reading more from her, but Lace-Covered Compromise just did not click for me. 3 stars.

This was a great “Enemies to Lovers” story with some super sexy lingerie. Our guys have some deep animosity between them thanks to Adam’s father and they aren’t afraid to let things get loud.

They move pretty quickly into a sexual relationship and from there it’s a matter of working things out (mostly in Adam’s head).

If you love a little rough sex, some denial and a bit of inner angst – this is for you. Oh – and Manties!!!
