While the plot seemed interesting (an anthropomorphized tale about the Great Depression), I found the actual story a little bit confusing. There are so many different animals to keep track, and at some point I got lost with all the rabbits, lions, and squirrels in their journey to the Great Lake. While the story is very promising, this book is not really for me - but could be really interesting for younger readers to get to understand the historical period in a fun way. It would also be interesting to see illustrations of the animals. At some point I started taking notes of all the name and species as a way to get track of the characters, so I wouldn’t get lost next time they appeared. And I realized it would be nice to have a graph or something like that indicating this relationship among characters.

This was not for me I found the story disjointed and the writing messy. Quite a few inconsistencies throughout.
