Great book and great insights. This book discusses the motives of discipleship across cultures and goes beyond superficial issues. It addresses the heart issues through the use of symbols and rituals in ways that are meaningful. W. Jay Moon brings academic insight and practical expertise from his lived experience in Ghana for almost a decade. The book is full of practical examples that help to move theory into practice. This is an excellent book and I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to mentor or disciple others.

This book is written to show the connections between discipleship ministry in the "West", and the kinds of ministry values that missionaries often employ in doing discipleship cross culturally. With the world changing at such a fast pace, I think it is helpful for Christians to look toward specialists in cross cultural ministry. The book is written well with a lot of examples from around the world. A lot of the book is built on the foundation of "creation theology" which is something I am a bit uncomfortable with, thus some of the conclusions are based off of this "high anthropology." But the book gives a lot of ideas for discipleship and overall I think the book's message is needed.
