This is cleverly written using first person for Vanessa, now, in present day, and third person for 'Nellie' some years earlier when she was working as a nursery teacher and preparing for her marriage to Richard Thompson.

Vanessa comes across as an unstable, slightly damaged woman following the breakdown of her marriage to Richard. We learn in the early chapters of Vanessa's difficult relationship with her mother, her rather chaotic single life when she lived with her girlfriend Sam, and her more steady near normal life living with aunt Charlotte.

As Richard is preparing to marry his new fiancée, Vanessa turns stalker to warn her off Richard. I wasn't sure for a good way into the book whether Vanessa was jealous and wanted the engagement to end so that she could get back with Richard, or if she wanted some sort of revenge just to spite Richard.

The Wife Between Us is unusual in that it is written by two authors but it does read as one smooth flowing story, no guesses at all as to who wrote which parts, and seamlessly and cleverly weaves in and out of Nellie's relationship with Richard, how he is controlling and manipulating every step of their marriage.

The ending has a good twist but I would have liked to know more about Richard and his sister and what happened with their parents, why was Richard like he was. A good psychological story of complex and flawed characters.

4.5 Stars rounded up.

Thank You to NetGalley and Macmillan ffor letting me read this book.

As you can probably gather I dont like to give all that much away when I write my reviews, this is because I dont like to spoil it for those that want to give the book a read, if you are not happy with this then tough, but I just can give things away and spoil the book.

Well I dont know quite what to say about this book, but I will have a go. This book is a fast paced read, full of twists and turns just at the moment when you think you have worked it out. The atmosphere is dark at times and it leaves you with a few questions along the way, bt having done this the book makes you want to contine on although at times it is a bit slow and maybe gets you asking "Why am I reading this?" and "Do I continue or give up?" You must continue!!

This the first book that I have read that is not written by just one author. I think that Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen have done an excellent job with this book and have managed to gain a fan with me. I look forward to possibly reading another book or two by them in the future. Well done to the both of you.

I would recommend this book.

Wow, did I think I had this book all figured out! And I couldn’t have been more wrong! The twist was brilliantly done... I didn’t see it coming and it just turned the book into something fantastic for me!

A very enjoyable read that I can definitely recommend!

Thanks to the author, publisher & NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this book from the very first few pages. You keep thinking you know where this is going - until there is a twist...and there are loads of them. It really keeps you guessing and I couldn't put it down as I wanted to know so badly how it would end. I don't want to give anything away from the plot for fear of ruining it. Well thought out and well written. I really liked it.

I had heard a lot about this book before picking it up; there are lots of positive reviews flying around so I had quite high expectations about this psychological thriller from the start. It follows a woman who is divorced from her husband, and is struggling to come to terms with what happened and to get on with her life.

The plot is set out in chapters divided between the present and the protagonist recalling events of her past relationship with her husband. This format worked really well to build mystery and tension because what had happened to get her to this point is gradually revealed right up until the dramatic final scenes.

I wasn't disappointed with this book, even with my high expectations going into it. It's really tense and I felt very sorry for the main character, Vanessa. She went through such emotion as the story unfolded and similar situations happen all the time in real life, which gives the book a deeper impact, particularly for women and for those who have struggled with relationship issues. That must include most people on some scale, so the truth behind this is quite an important factor for me to lift this above being just another psychological thriller.

I have completely jumped on the band wagon of people raving about this book. I finished it in under 24 hours because I really didn't want to put it down. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good psychological thriller - you won't be disappointed.

This is another psychological thriller but unlike other ones I have read there are lots of twists to this which I didn't see coming which made this a great page turner.
It's really difficult to explain without giving away too much - There are 2 stories one is Nellie who is marrying the lovely Richard who showers her with gifts and surprises and everything seems to be looking great for their perfect wedding. Then there is Richards ex-wife who is trying to stop Richard getting married - can't say anymore!

The Wife Between Us

The start of this book was great and I was really enjoying it, however about half way through it was then quite confusing and I gave up. Not a book for me.

The Wife Between Us is an entertaining page turner that I read in two days. I couldn't wait to read what happened next and whether there was another twist I can't go into the plot because of 'spoilers' but the characters are compelling and, most satisfyingly, there are no loose ends. Every bit of back story is part of the journey and all is revealed by the end. Brilliant! I was given this copy through netgalley for an honest review.

Really enjoyed this book about Nellie the ex-wife and her replacement Emma. You find out about Nellie's past and present life, and what a great ending, one that you will never guess. Highly recommend this book.

What if you could stop another woman making the mistake you did? He's not just a bad husband, he's a bad man, and his ex-wife wants to step in - but should she? And is she right about what he's doing now? Really really good read.

I got this book from Netgalley (thanks, Netgalley!) but it's not for me. I didn't find any of the twists particularly twisty as the story followed a well-worn path with the usual tropes. At no point was I screaming 'Oh my god!' at some revelation it was more like, 'Quelle surprise'. Unsurprisingly, it's going to be made into a film and it definitely reads like it was written to be made into a film.

I really enjoyed this book. I especially liked the twist half way through and thought the characters developed well. Would be interested in reading more by the author.

Really good book. Too difficult to explain much of the story as honestly there were so many twists and turns. Basically Vanessa's ex husband Richard is getting married again. She wants to warn his bride about Richard's real personality. A brilliant story worth reading.

A twisted and complex psychological thriller, I enjoyed this book.

A story about marriage, secrets, lies, friendship, betrayal, manipulation and obsession. Well written with excellent characters. Lots of twists and turns throughout the story - many of which I didn't see coming. Very clever writing with a satisfying conclusion.

A gripping book which will have you hooked from the start. Recommended.

This joins the current spate of psychological thrillers started with the likes of Girl on the Train but adds an additional dimension. You need to pay attention to the nuances and the backgrounds and stories of the many characters. All have a tale to tell to add to the intracacies. Initially one thinks that the story evolves round an abandoned and jealous wife who has lost her perfect luxurious wanting for nothing materialistic. She is now destitute and hears that her exhusband is about to remarry. She Has to do something to halt the marriage but why? All is not as it initially seems and there unfolds the truth.

Sadly, this was not mu kind of book. The story starts out fairly interesting and I enjoyed it. Later on, though, it all becomes confusing and I had to push myself to finish the book. I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. Thanks to NetGalley and Pan Macmillan!

This rating is 3.5

This was a surprisingly good book. I thought I knew where the book was going but I was wrong. I went from feeling sorry for the characters to not liking them. I would of liked the chapters to be headed on whose point of view we were going from and also whether it's in the past or present, the fact it wasn't like this made me it very confusing. I enjoyed reading from these authors and I hope they write together again.

Thanks goes to net galley and the publishers for providing me with a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
