Eve Potter left her sisters Louise and Josephine to spend the holidays with her childhood friend, Margaret Havisham, hoping the connection would help her find a husband, as the girls were barely getting by after the death of their parents.
Arriving at Amberly Hall early, she decided to start walking..unfortunately ..in the wrong direction.
She ended up at the Earl of Ravenworth's home, thoroughly chilled, just aheaad of a blinding snowstorm.
After an overnight stay,Eve attempts to walk to Margaret's home, afraid of the feelings the Earl arouses in her, only to twist her ankle and almost freeze to death, only to be rescued by the Earl. He carries her all the way back and he and his household tend her, only to have Margaret arrive like an avenging angel, demanding to see her and in fear for her as the Earl had been the subject of a scandal.
When Margaret relates the tale, Eve will not believe it, and meets with the Earl to ask him his side.
That's when he knows for sure....Eve is 'The One.'
This is a short, sweet historical.
I requested and received an ARC from NetGalley and was delighted with it.

This is the second novella in a trilogy of novellas about 3 sisters. Eve is the youngest of the sisters who sets out to a friends estate for a visit. She takes a wrong turn and ends up at the Earl of Ravensworth's home. Once the storm sets in, she is stranded there for several days. Eve and Bryce's love story was sweet. I laughed, and cried while reading this book. I highly recommend this book. I loved the first book in this series and am anxiously awaiting the last book in this series.

"The Earl Who Loved Her' is a very sweet novella with a nice plot and enjoyable characters. Eve's family is living in genteel poverty after losing her parents, and her sister encourages her to attend a Christmas house party at a friend's house. Maybe Eve will find a husband. Instead, she gets lost and finds an estate with a brooding recluse who is an Earl.
Bryce, the recluse Earl, isn't pleased that he has to house a young woman who can't continue her travels in the snow and ice. He may not be pleased, but he is attracted to her. The snow and ice continue to hinder Eve's leaving his estate and they grow closer.
Eve realizes there is a reason why Bryce stays away from society and why he is a recluse who is more at home in the country. Can they overcome the obstacles in their path?
Very sweet story, liked both of the main characters and was very happy they found their happily ever after.

Eve Potter the youngest of the three sisters sets out to visit her friend at Amberly Hall for the Christmas season a day after Louise set out to take up her job as a governess. But as fate would have it, there is no coach waiting to collect her from the stagecoach so rather than freeze she sets out on foot…only to go in the wrong direction. Nearly frozen, she arrives at BlackHall, where she is invited inside and introduced to the master of the house, the Earl of Ravenworth. Eve is smitten, for he is beyond handsome. Bryce Harlowe the Earl of Ravenworth lives as a recluse, shunned by Society and even his own family after being accused of a scandalous transgression. The young woman at his door cannot stay at Blackhall less her reputation be ruined but fate takes a hand when the pesky winter climate leaves them snowed in together at Blackhall then Eve twists her ankle. Bryce and Eve grow closer, each discovering a mutual respect and longing for the other.
Another lovely novella the second in the trilogy & I can’t wait to read the final part. The characters are very well developed for a novella, the plot is well paced & I was loathe to put it down. A delightful story of seeing someone for who they really are rather than jumping to conclusions

It is an amazing read. I would have loved there to be more of the epilogue to know more about how it all turns out with his family and former friends. It is very well written and true to its time period. The characters are well described and develops through the story. I was caught from first to last chapter. It has a lot to it; laughs, sighs, hot chemistry and one steaming scene. It is so touching and it feels like you are there with the characters on their trip towards their HEA. A sweet story that was full of love, laughs and chemistry. Both Eve and Bryce has things to deal with and that is why it takes a lot of thoughts for both of them to come out and take the chance of love. I like that Bryce is so thoughtful and a real gentleman.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

This is a quick novella so there isn’t much time to develop the characters. You have a troubled hero who is ostracized for something he didn’t do, but he won’t defend his name. You have an innocent, yet plucky heroine. They’re stranded together over Christmas and you know what is going to happen. It proceeds about as you’d expect with Christmas joy and happy endings.

I was given a free ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I like Sophie Barnes, and so I wanted to like this. However, I don't know that it really works as a novella. The character development seems both rushed in places and then absent in others. I read the Governess title in this series, which suffered from the same issues but it a least had the main characters in the same room for the entirety of the plot. I found it hard to believe that two people, who are snow bound for only a week, but then only spend 3-4 days of that week in each others company are going to fall head over heels and throw caution to the wind. Especially, given that our heroine has the weight of her sisters' sacrifices and expectations riding on her shoulders.

This was a nice light read, the story of one of three sisters, part of a series. This sister is headed to spend Christmas with friends, in pursuit of a husband, but becomes lost in a snow storm. Ending up on the doorstep of an Earl who has been shunned by society, they are mutually attracted, but resist the temptation. Her friends eventually come to her rescue, alerting her to his history. But there is a HEA.

This is book 2 in a series of 3 novellas about the Potter sisters. This story is about Eve. She is the youngest of 3 sisters. On her way to visit a friend, she is dropped off at the depot and decides to walk to the house. She takes a wrong turn and ends up at the house of Bryce, the notorious Earl of Ravenworth.
Eve arrives as the weather starts to get bad and ends up being stranded for a week.
I just didn't feel the romantic connection in this story as I did in the first one. In trying to be a gentlemen, Bryce keeps himself away from Eve. I think that is where the story suffered. They were separated too much and too much in their own thoughts and not enough connection.

Eve and Bryce sure have interesting conversations when the woman is out of it at times:
“You’ve shaved,” she said, not answering his question.
A look of disorientation overcame him. “What?”
Settling back against the plump pillows, her eyes grew heavy. Her eyelids began to close. “You were so,” she yawned, “rugged earlier.”
A pause before asking, “You liked it?”
“Mmm hmmm.” She was drifting away.
I liked this book, I fell in love with Bryce.

This is Bryce and Eve’s story. She has been invited to spend Christmas with a good friend. Her sisters are working to support her having a season. The stage arrived early and instead of waiting for her friend’s coach to arrive she starts walking and ends up at the wrong house. Eve has to remain at Bryce’s home because of bad weather. He is afraid that her reputation will be ruined but true love conquers anything. I can’t wait to read the next novella in the series.

Another sweet story this time featuring the youngest Potter sister, Eve. Bryce is strong, silent, sometimes moody and all together loveable. Who would not want to get stuck at his house for a week?? And let’s not forget the butler, a great character. Their cute love story is perfect for an afternoon read.

Stranded after taking a wrong turn on her way to a friend's manor, Eve Potter finds herself shivering in the snow on handsome Bryce Harlowe's doorstep. Even though they both know it could damage her reputation, the Earl invites Eve to stay with him until the weather permits her to venture to her friend's residence. While the snow flies outside, things heat up between the two but their respective pasts threaten to put a damper on their fledgling relationship. Can they find shared holiday joy? Or will they be left out in the cold?

This is the second book in the Honorable Scoundrels series by Sophie Barnes, but you don't need to read the first book to enjoy this one. This is a fun, light read filled with delightful characters and a simple, yet satisfying, plot. After all, what's better than a Snowed-in romance?

Eve and Bryce are fun characters with well-developed personalities despite the shortness of the book. Eve is stubborn, caring, intelligent, and honest. While Bryce is both charming and frustrating in turn. His interest in gilding flowers was unique and added a depth of character that I appreciated. It humanized him and made him less of an ideal and more real. Even the side characters are fun. I particularly enjoyed Bryce's butler.

I enjoyed the book and look forward to checking out more from this author.

Five stars

This novella was a short and enjoyable read. Anything can happen during the Christmas season, especially love.
