Every now and again I find myself on the hunt for a book that's raunchy and fun. Something that's light that will take the hours away. This book was sexy and fun and all that I'm after.

Thank you for the opportunity to read The Silken Edge. I no longer read the erotica genre of romance and decided to not download this title before it was archived in June 2018. I did not read nor plan to read this title.

Started off well but quickly went downhill. The ex-boyfriend doesn't seem to know which way his personality is meant to go, and getting into BDSM on a bet IS NOT the way to get into it. Although there's no abusive play still not a great representation of the lifestyle.

I am giving this book a 2.75 star rating. This is the story of Kristy and Jake. Kristy was dumped by her boyfriend of 5 years. It was a "somewhat mutual" breakup. She decides to turn over a new leaf and try something new. She has been eyeing the young handsome owner of the gym she belongs to, whose name is Jake. She also makes a bet with her best friend on having a try out session of BDSM play. After that session she becomes hooked and she gets hooked on Master Jay. She goes through the journey of finding out the true identity of Master Jay and trying to have a relationship she is comfortable with. She is trying to find a medium in finding herself and the new lifestyle she has embraced.

This book was an easy read. It flowed nicely. I liked how the author gave a point of view to the men. Most authors don't do that, so I appreciated the attempt. It was sometimes unnecessary for some characters to have this privilege since that person was not an essential part to the storyline.

The first thing I noticed about Kristy was that impulsive. She decided the very second that she was dumped that she was doing something different. She just did not have follow through until her friend kind of forced her. She was also very judgmental. I did not like that about her. I wish there was more of a struggle within her. She was so disapproving to the BDSM scene and the people. After her first encounter, she dives right in. The story would have been more interesting with the angst of Kristy struggling to figure out if she really liked what she experienced and what it made her in sight of her own judgments.

Jake was a good character. One thing I liked about him was that he was a safe young man. He was conscious of his decisions. He used condoms and checked the date on them. I was really impressed with that. That itself was a thumbs up for me.

I wish the age difference was not such a big gap. 14 Years is a lot for me. It is not believable for these characters to have a relationship that will last. With that being said, their chemistry did not explode off the pages, but I can say there was a realistic dynamic to their relationship. Throughout the story I got the impression that she was trying to change him and lead him out of the lifestyle. That lead to the author changing Jake. That change was not the better for me. He lost the characteristics that I liked about him. He started off as a young man that knew what he wanted and knew who he was. He went through a change where him and Kristy switched roles. He became the woman in this connection. I felt that Kristy changed him by making him feel guilty that he still wanted to participate in the lifestyle. In my opinion, she changed him too much. I believed she trapped him and that was her game from the beginning. This aspect alone disconnected me from the story.

The author really rushed the story at the end. But there was a happily ever after and the loose ends were all tied. I am on the fence with this book, so I cannot say that I would fully recommend it. I would suggest a person read it for him/herself.

*I received an ARC from Netgalley for an honest review. All reviews are my own opinions.*

Having recently read the immensely popular Fifty Shades Trilogy, I couldn't help but compare the two as I read. This novel is actually quite tame in its portrayal of BDSM in comparison. I personally know nothing about the BDSM world, but I believe readers like me would rather read a story of couples who enjoy vanilla sex with a bit of exploration into sex toys, mild bondage, etc. The story is actually very sweet. Jake does not have a dark past causing him to live this alternative lifestyle. He simply derives pleasure from the experience as a Dominate. He seems to have close family relations, so no dark skeletons in the closet for him. In fact, he has a twin sister who he has had a romantic relationship with his best friend and comes to live with him. Kristy has recently been jilted by her longtime lover and is very vulnerable when she becomes involved with Jake.
I found this book highly engaging. I wanted to finish up my ordinary household chores to continue reading. This is an easy, sexy read. It is probably on a high-school reading level so it doesn't have "big words" that most average readers aren't familiar with. I actually hate those books when I'm reading for "pure pleasure" or "mindless reading" as I am compelled to look up definitions for each word or I can't continue reading, so this book allows one to freely enjoy the book.
I am rating this book 4 stars and highly recommend it to those who enjoy a tantalizing fictional romance. Obviously, there are sexual scenes and there is some language that might offend some readers.
I received an ebook of this novel from netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

A bit Meh. Standard fare with nothing much to set it apart. Too much focus on the gym and the club and her age and not enough on the relationships.

A new to me author Jaci Paige. The Silken Edge. A very spicy book. A storyline that keeps you going back for more, great dialogue and likable characters. A well written book. I'll look forward to reading more books by this author.

Goodness, where do I even begin...this is the first book I've read about BDSM and boy did I learn a thing or two. It's essentially very erotic romance between Kristy, a supposed vanilla in bed, and Jake, her personal trainer with a secret hobby. Recently dumped and lonely, she allows her friend to talk her into going to an exclusive BDSM club, where she has the night of her life with Master Jay. Meanwhile, she also can't stop thinking about her personal trainer Jake, who's offered to help her out with her tough situation. I couldn't put this book down, it was definitely eye opening for me!

This is the first book in this series by this author. You will fall in love with the characters as you read. I just couldn't put this book down, I was hooked. This is a bit of an emotional read as you take the journey with the characters. I can't wait to read more in this series and by this author in the future.
Highly recommended
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book

This book had so much potential but unfortunately it fell short for me.

Kristy gets dumped by her boyfriend and turns to her best friend for advice. The best friend that naturally just became involved in the BDSM lifestyle. Sherry tries to convince Kristy that she would enjoy BDSM but Kristy is dead set against it. To prove that she doesn't enjoy it, Kristy agrees to a scene with one of the club's paid tops. But to her surprise she actually enjoys the scene far more than she ever thought possible.

Sounds great right?

Kristy makes this big thing about an age difference (15 years) between her and Jake. The author wants you to believe that Jake doesn't have an issue with it and therefore neither should Jake. Normally this would be realistic if Jake was more mature for his age. But in this book it's actually the exact opposite. I couldn't believe how immature Jake just was. Honestly he acted like an immature little girl for half the book. I had to push through just to finish it. Towards the end the only thing that kept me interested was Roxie and Jonathan.

The book starts with Kristy's breakup after a long-term relationship, which seems to get over too fast. And after her best friend insisting she gives in into trying the BDSM lifestyle and she falls for Master Jay and long story short they have a happily ever after end.

The book was ok and its pace was ok. Moving forward into the action of the story. If you are into BDSM lifestyle you will enjoy the book, if not then I'm not sure if you will be able to relate with the love scenes.

However the author sets up pretty cool the world and characters and if you have enjoyed the first book, you will be looking forward to the next one.

Interesting read. Kristy thinks her friend Sherry is crazy for being in a BDSM relationship, but tries to be supportive. After her boyfriend dumps her, her curiosity gets the better of her and she is introduced to Master Jay. She wades in deeper over time, and eventually learns that Master Jay is really Jake, someone who has had his eye on her for awhile, and vice versa.
They hit a major rough patch as they each work through their feelings, but eventually get their HEA.

I received a e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was so good I ended up reading it in one night!
It was sensual, hot and dramatic, a perfect mix for this genre. Granted, there is not much depth in the story itself, but the main characters are more layered and complex than expected for an erotic novel. I liked how they all had to go out of their comfort zone and test their limits. No one ever said love was an easy ride. I will definitely read the rest of the books in this series!

This was book was particularly well written for a BDSM erotica title. There was decent character development. I enjoyed this book and read it one sitting.

I enjoyed Kristi and Jake’s story. I loved the BDSM aspect and the fact that age doesn’t matter when it comes to love!

Krist is single after a long term, unfulfilling relationship. She led a sheltered life until her friend introduces her to the BDSM world. Overall the book was enjoyable, but I didn't always feel the chemistry between Kristi and Jake outside of the club.
