This is the second book of the series but my first. It would have been more enjoyable to have read them in order. There is a lot of family back-story that I only got glimpses of in this story and I felt the missing information.

Hailey Tiverton is still reeling from all the loss in her life, most recently her brother and sister in law in a car accident one year ago, leaving her custody of her 7 year old niece, Skye. She’s barely holding it together when she loses her job. After multiple job interviews with no results, she suddenly discovers a job circled in a newspaper next to her.

Spencer Westerly is a tech millionaire. He and his long time best friend, Jordan, own a successful business together. Spencer spends daylight hours working hard and his nighttime hours partying and being a manwhore. No attachments.

LOTS of family drama. This is where it would have been good to read them in order. Secrets, hidden agendas, sibling rivalry, loads of misunderstandings among the Westerly family. Hailey and Skye unknowingly get sucked into it all. Spencer and Hailey were college sweethearts/lovers torn apart because they were too young to deal with everything thrown at them at the time. Spencer’s Grandmother’s scheming brings Hailey back into Spencer’s life. Lies of omission between all the family members and between Hailey and Spencer.

Spencer hasn’t been around kids. Yet with one short scene with Skye, he knows he can be the father figure in her life. Hailey, for as protective as she is with Skye, was too easily accepting of this.

I really liked Jordan. He seemed to be the only one with everyone’s best interest at heart and he didn’t cut Spencer any slack, called him on his crap.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC provided by NetGalley and the publisher.

Spencer Westerly's world was turned upside down by his Grandmother when she discovers a secret that she thought was already known. Spencer was not a Westerly by blood.

Mrs. Westerly is extremely sorry that she was the one who told him the truth and decides she has to do something to bring him back to the family but it won't be easy.

Little does she know that by bringing Spencer and his lost love Hailey back together she would also be changing her own life.

Spencer and Hailey's love story will take your breath away. They will make you laugh and cry but most of all you will root for them to be together. Add Hailey's niece Skye and the story becomes magical.

Anxiously awaiting the next book in the series...

Second Chance romance series with some what likable characters and a grandmother trying to fix what is broken.
The story 234 pages but it seems to feel a lot longer as the author gives readers way to much of Haliey's inner thoughts. Many times readers will reread the same thought over and over again which as Ruth Cardello gives readers a glimps into the past. Most of the past isn't needed since she covers it in current time.
Spencer is a jerk who grows a little too quickly in live with this first love. The Grandmother is pretty entertaining as she meddles in her Grandchildren lives.
Readers will be able to jump into book 2 without needing to read book 1 and i have a feeling that is how the entire series will be as each of the different children will fall in love or fall back in low.
Thank you to Netgalley and Publisher Montlake Romance for the advance copy

From the beginning of this story, I was pretty sure that I would hate Delinda. She made it easy, by being so blatantly manipulative. The old woman has a pretty fractured family, but most of it isn’t her fault, and now that she’s older and lonely, she wants nothing more than to have them all back into the fold.
Too bad she never heard the old adage about catching more flies with honey.
Delinda wants Spencer back in his life and she sees his old college girlfriend as the quickest route to her goal. But I don’t think even Delinda counted on falling in love with Hailey or her niece Skye, which made it easier to like her. More importantly, I understood her and I LOVED the way Hailey managed to get through to her.
Now on to Spencer and Hailey.
Boy, oh boy did these two give me a headache! Hailey with all of her second guessing—though I understood her reasons—was like a bad roller coaster ride. And Spencer, yeah dude, we get it. Your mom is a big ol’ liar and gave you some issues. But you’re a grown man so suck it up and get over it.
You could tell right away that feelings still lingered between them, but they couldn’t get out of their own way long enough to make it happen! Honestly though, I liked Spencer and I wanted him to find forgiveness and reconnect with his family, but if I’m being honest I still didn’t think he deserved Hailey. The way he dropped the ball in college and the way he just jumped to conclusions, doesn’t sound like a guy in love…no matter what the photos say.
I enjoyed this story, a lot. Despite the fact that both main characters kind of worked my nerves, I had a good time reading this book and it only took me about a day to finish it.
Now I’m very curious about Brett’s story, so I’m going back and getting a copy of In the Heir!

ARC for honest review with no compensation

Up for Heir is the 2nd book in the Westerly Billionaire series by Ruth Cardello and a great way to continue this series.

Spencer Westerly lost the love of his life a long time ago and with the division in his family he is determined to make it on his own until a family secret comes out and he turns to the bottle and is living fast and loose with women and his life. His grandmother, Delinda is determined to bring him back into the fold because she had a part in the family secret coming out. So she decides to find the love of his life and in the hopes that this will bring them back together and maybe Spencer will find it in his heart to forgive her.

Hailey Triverton suddenly becomes the guardian of her niece after her brother and his wife are killed in an accident. While trying to help her niece adjust to her parents being gone forever she ends up losing her job and apartment but accepts a job with Spencer’s grandmother as her assistant only she doesn’t know they are related at first. When Delinda sends her on an errand to get a package who does she run into…but the man who was the love of her life but broke her heart in the end…Spencer Westerly.

Will these two find their way back to each other and find their HEA and will it be the start to mend a family that is broken??

This book is a page turner and looking forward to see who will be next in the Westerly family to find love! !

Spencer is a millionaire who is resentful to his family and wants the least approximation possible with them, but as his bossy and controlling grandmother does not accept his position she begins to arm to bring him back. Her secret weapon is the sweet HAILEY, love of Spencer's life. After a misunderstanding of the past, they broke up and never saw each other again ....
Delinda Westerly brings Hailey right where Spencer works and all the memories and sorrows bring back the passion that once warmed their hearts. After a good conversation they realize what really triggered the breakup and Spencer is determined to take Hailey back.
Even fearing and with her niece Skye under her responsibility, she slowly lets her heart lead her life toward her old great love.
But Spencer's resentment of his family may bring a new problem to this equation.
What I like most about this writer is that she does not invent a lot of drama, she loves a good dialogue to solve the issues and I love how she focuses on a strong family love.
Up for Heir was a pleasant and enjoyable read that flowed and left me with a smile on the face at the end and the best it did not let me into a hangover I was about to enter because of two other strong books I read this week. Wonderful!
I loved Spencer's grandmother all determined and manipulative and at the same time fragile and full of love to give to anyone who wanted to receive and of course I loved Hailey 's niece who brought a tasty dose of humor to the book.

Up for Heir is a second chance romance. It tells the story of Hailey and Spencer who were college sweethearts who broke up and have not seen each other for many years. I received a copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I did miss the first book in the series which was Brett's story (have to remedy that one soon). Hailey spends all of her time raising her niece, Skye. Both of them have suffered great loss. and are Hailey is trying to pull them ahead, however, she also needs to find employment. Spencer has worked hard to be a success outside of his family's business and wealth. He is a successful tech wiz and his business is growing. He and Hailey run into each other and the reader witnesses two people who have experienced heartbreak realize they still have feelings for each other and have another chance at love with each other. Up for Heir is a great story about loss and love and it heartwarmingly shows how family is not just the one that you are born into, but, it can be the one you make.

Up for Heir by Ruth Cardello is Book 2 in the "Westerly Billionaire" Series. This is the story of Spencer Westerly and Hailey Tiverton. I have read the previous book and feel that you can make this a standalone book.
This is a second chance at love story where Spencer and Hailey met before but his drive to start his business and other things seem to pull them apart. Now Spencer is very successful business wise but emotionally not so much. There have been family secrets that have hurt him and his has turned to drink and lots of women. But his Grandmother, Delinda has set things in motion to find Hailey and hopefully move them forward, Hailey has lost her job and apartment and in addition is the guardian of her niece. But then, Delinda comes forward asking her to take a job as her companion. Which leads Hailey back into Spencer's site.
I enjoyed watching these two get past their issues and come together.

Up for heir is packed to the brim with emotion, passion and love. A perfect second chance romance.

Up for Heir is the second book in the Westerly Billionaire series and it's time to learn more about the siblings that grew up with their mother. Eric the middle brother is still absent and at this point, I am starting to wonder why that's happening. His book better be full of good stuff and revelations because we are two books into the series and so far he is only mentioned! We got to see the sisters who are still not on my good side, so why not Eric? What's up with him? I bet his book will be the last. I wonder if one of the sisters (the fun one probably) will end up with Jordan, Spencer's friend. He was the best guy in this book, maybe only after Brett. Spencer never managed to win me over because of the things he said about the women in his past when he compared them to Hailey. He never made me feel as if he regretted saying those things and I wasn't very happy with him. Hailey for the past year has focused on making her niece feel better and tried everything in her power to protect her. I think she suffocated Skye a little, but she tried and I am giving her points for that. She is mostly a good person, if not a little mouthy. The book has 234 pages and Spencer say Skye only once. He is basically going to be a father to a child that he only saw one time. Isn't that a little weird? We got a first-row seat in the family drama, but Spencer barely knew about Skye. I am not happy with that and it really bothered me. Truth to be told, I wasn't very happy with this book.

After learning about the devastating secret that his family has been keeping from him for years Spencer is dealing with the emotional turmoil by becoming a partying playboy. He feels isolated and alone and has no one who he can lean on.

Hailey has recently become guardian of her niece and she is now the main focus in her life. Unsure what to do when she finds herself unemployed and homeless a fairy godmother by the name of Delinda steps in and offers her a job as a companion.

When Delinda asks her to drop off a package the last person she expected to see was Spencer the only man she ever loved as she had no idea her employer was his grandmother. They were together in college until she suffered a traumatic loss and didn’t receive the support that she needed from Spencer so she left home to return to what was left of her family. Delinda knew that they belonged together and was willing to use all her matchmaking skills to ensure they realize their feelings for each other but are they able to overcome the misunderstandings of the past? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
Hailey + Spencer were each other's first love.
Misunderstanding broke them up.
Now, they have a second chance.
Will they be strong enough to make it work?
As always. Love always win.
It was a very sweet story.
I loved the storytelling + the characters!

What an amazing story of love, second chances, forgiveness, and loss. This book has it all. Hailey has suffered from the loss of her family. Having to take on her niece after her brother dies, Hailey feels as she is failing Skye. Spencer was Haileys first love, that didnt work out, Hailey felt alone when she needed Spencer. Add in a meddling grandmother and the realization that forgiveness helps with moving forward. Can Spencer and Hailey make it work this time around? Can they both be the parental figures skye needs? I cannot wait to read more.

Second chance romance with an emotional undertone and mixed with a mischievous grandmother

Up for Heir is a second chance romance with an emotional undertone and mixed with a mischievous grandmother, making this a fun and relatively light hearted read. I was engrossed from start to finish in this book and despite it being part of a series, it can be read as a standalone (I personally haven’t read the previous book and followed along ok).

Spencer and Hailey, who tell the book through dual perspective, have a chemistry that clearly still exists between them despite their painful past. Spencer is a stubborn male struggling to deal with secrets of his life. Hailey, on the other hand, is a strong woman trying to do her best despite the heart-aching circumstances she is dealing with. The emotional undertone of the book added an extra layer to Hailey and even Spencer, helping to create likeable characters and allowing readers to connect with both of them. I loved Hailey’s niece Skye - you just wanted to give her a hug and I adored the relationship that developed between her and Spencer’s mischievous grandmother, Delinda, who added some real humour to the book

Overall, if you enjoy a well written second chance romance with some angst and humour, definitely don’t hesitate to give this book a read!

Delinda and Alessandro are still into their matchmaking games.

Spencer is now in Delinda's sight. With such a complicated past of parentage and life' obstacles, he is not going to be easy to match. Only once was he ever in a true relationship and that did not end well. So, Delinda must use her skills to provide the incentive for his path to once again cross Hailey's.

Hailey now is responsible for her niece. She is the only family Skye has left in this world. After the trauma of losing her parents, Skye does not even speak to anyone. Leading a normal life is all that Hailey wants for her, therefore, she has tailored her life to providing a safe and nurturing environment for Skye.

This is one of my favorite books by this author. I love this Westerly family with all their complications, twists, and turns. Delinda as the matriarch of the family rules with an iron hand. As the series progresses, she learns to soften her grip and understand her grandchildren better.

If you are a Ruth Cardello fan, you will not be disappointed. If you have never read her books, what are you waiting for? I highly recommend this book and the series.

I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thank you to the author for sharing a copy with me.

Up for Heir is the second book in the series that features the dysfunctional Westerly clan. This is Spencer Westerly's story and it's a great one. I love these characters especially Spencer after his failed attempt to trick his Grandmother into believing his fake relationship in the first book. Now he's reunited with his college sweetheart Hailey Tivorton Little does he know that it is his meddling Grandmother that is responsible for bringing Hailey back into his life. In the end will he care??

A wonderful, emotion filled story that you don't want to miss. I highly recommend everyone put this one on the must read list..

Spencer Westerly is a powerhouse in his own right, forced to forge his own way in life despite his family having more money than they needed he proved to them all that he could not only make money, but be a leader. He has a major chip on his shoulder though when it comes to his family but when he runs into his college love his priorities will have to change in order to be the man that she and her niece needs.

I've been looking forward to Spencer's story since I read the first book and I wasn't disappointed. The relationships that are developed are hard won and such a joy to read about.
