A fun little story about Santa's daughter, Holly, and her new Yeti friend, Frostina. It was a quick, little graphic novel. I enjoyed it but should of read it closer to the holiday season. Fun for all ages and it was super cute. The artwork was beautiful and vibrant.
Thank you, Action Lab and NetGalley.

Unfortunately, this title was not a good fit for me, and my platforms only post 3 or more star reviews. Thank you for the opportunity to read this book.

Did you know Santa Claus had a daughter, Holly? Well, now you do! And in this story, Holly experiences an adventure that easily rivals her father's magic job...

It all begins with the arrival of Yeti princess Frostina. Together, the girls have to face an attack by an army of scarecrows and uncover a conspiracy of the Krampus meant to sabotage Santa's work...I love the Krampus, so of course I was delighted to find that he is the villain in this story.

The story was just fun, and I loved the author's sense for details. E.g., he added a small icon to the speech bubble, showing the face of the character speaking when she/he was not included in the picture, so you always knew who was talking at that moment. On another page, the girls are shown riding in a wagon down the vertical space between pictures in miniature format. The illustrations were done in a colourful and clear way, and a unique style was recognizable throughout the entire book. The scarecrows and the dragon, though meant to be scary, looked really cute and I actually pitied them because they had to follow the Krampus' evil orders.

The bickering of the girls added a humorous touch and though I myself am not a young girl anymore I can imagine younger readers enjoying this very imaginative story.

Northstars Vol. 1 is a fun adventure for young readers. This is a mini review so I don’t spoil the story for anyone. In this graphic novel readers will enjoy meeting Holly, the daughter of Santa Claus, and Frostina, a Yeti Princess. These two meet for the first time and right away they click and go on a magical adventure to solve a mystery in Undertown. The illustrations are colorful and well done and the story was a perfect mix of humor, suspense and adventure. This is a quick and fun story. The layout of the story is easy to follow, so this is perfect for new graphic novel readers. This is a magical adventure for young readers.

I was nervous going into this. It *sounded* like a good comic, but I was worried being geared towards the younger crowd it would be less enjoyable. I loved it! I would totally buy this for my nieces and nephews. Strong female leads who save the day and Christmas? Heck yes!

A fun little all ages story about Santa Claus's daughter, Holly, and her new tween Yeti friend. They fight Krampus when he tries to sabotage Christmas. There's a lot of fantasy elements to love in the story too. It's full of trolls, ice dragons and fairies in addition to your typical North Pole fare.

This a super cute story. The daughters of Santa Claus and the Yeti go on an adventure and madness ensues. The art in this book is really bright and colourful and it is a perfect story for all ages. It is simply enough for children to understand and there are no mature themes. It’s still captivating for those not quite so young but still young at heart!

It wasn't exactly unexpected. Mythological characters have to work together to fight an evil force. I liked that these were entirely original characters, allowing them to take on any traits instead of having to fit into some preset frame. I didn't much enjoy the presumptions .Who is this villain? Why is he trying to destroy the town. It feels like we're supposed to know stuff about the characters and their world. Some of this gets explained through dialogue, though this is not a natural exposition.

Welcome to Snowville was a quick little graphic novel for young readers and it was super cute.

Santa's daughter meets a Yeti Princess and they set off on an adventure when they find a Troggie trying to steal a magic wand. They travel to underworld and have to fight straw men and Krampus.

Can't say to much about it or there would be nothing to read. :) Holly, is a pretty smart character and Frostina is a tall, tough character and together they make a pretty good team. The Troggie is super cute too but he doesn't say much...lol.

If you have young readers who like graphic novels then this would be a fun one for them to read.

This is such a wonderful graphic novel. It's one you can gather the young one around and read together. Many believe that Santa has a daughter named Holly Claus. In the kick off to this series she is set to babysit the Yeti princess Frostina. The two have a grand adventure and help save Troggie Town from the Evil Krampus. This is a really fun graphic novel, and would make an excellent animated holiday special.

I would have loved this as a child! It brought me back to the feeling of anticipation christmas made me feel every year. A perfect comic for the month of December.

My Review: I am always looking for graphic novels to include in my Advent Reads event in December but it is pretty difficult, so this was really exciting to stumble upon. This is definitely geared towards a younger audience but can definitely be enjoyed by all age groups. We get to see some classic holiday characters and some new ones that have quite an adventure. There are some unique explanations to common questions from kids who are starting to doubt the magic of Christmas. I do think it is aimed at young girl readers, as the 2 main characters are female, but the action can be enjoyed by all genders. The art is a fun cartoon style that feels like it will become a classic. This was definitely a fun introduction to Snowville and the characters and I am excited to see more in the future.

Gearing up for more holiday fun!

This graphic novel is the first 2 chapters of Northstars. We meet Holly Claus, the daughter of Santa, and Frostina, the Yetiville Princess as they realize something is up in Snowville. The have to go on an adventure to defeat evil to save Christmas.

This was a magical holiday adventure that will be a fun read for all ages. It is bright and festive and the adventure is entertaining but on the shorter side. It was easy to read and follow and I loved all the characters introduced. Holly Claus and Frostina are in for a long friendship I think, and they seem to complement each other well.

Yay for holiday books, this is one to definitely get you into the spirit without being too over the top - shove Christmas in your face.

While reading this, I was thinking of giving this four stars. However, when the dragon Winter Wyvern was summoned by Krampus, I know that five perfect stars is more appropriate to rate this entertaining comic series written by Jim and Haigen Shelley.

Holly and Frostina are both likable characters but for me, I think the dragon is the best character because of how funny he is. I can't wait for the second volume of this and hoping I can read more of Winter Wyvern in that installment.

Beautiful, vibrant and colorful artwork is sure to grab your attention for this magical journey with Santa. Anna Liisa Jones did a remarkable job taking the spirit and joy of the Christmas season and enshrining it within her images. You can’t help but look at these pages and feel the warmth, fun and charm of the season.

Jim and Haigen Shelley have provided a graphic novel that is perfect for kids who want to get into the Christmas spirit. Adults may chafe at the shortness of the story as it’s only two chapters in this first volume but it feels like the perfect length for younger attention spans. If older ages beyond the recommended 4-8 take a second to just enjoy the story as a prelude to the season they might find that despite its length,

It’s a different Santa Claus story than most as it focuses on Holly, Santa’s daughter, so the unique factor was definitely high. Along with her we also meet a beautiful Yeti princess named Frostina and other characters that are sure to tickle your funny bone with their hijinks.

A magical adventure awaits between the pages of this fun graphic novel which allows you to have a fuller experience of written story plus vivid images to truly bring the tale to life.

The appropriately named Polaris—at the North Pole—is the home of Santa Claus’s town, Snowville. His daughter, a cute redhead, is just as appropriately named Holly. She’s happy to have a princess visiting, though she’s not what she expected. After some getting-to-know-you they take off to the underworld with a little green guy and get mixed up a plot to take over Snowville.
Yetisburg Address? Wonder how many kids will catch that one. Grammar gets them past a dragon somehow. I like how there’s a little emoji face next to the dialog when the speaker isn’t pictured.
“Huh. That could’ve gone better.”
The moral is right to the point and very true.
The artwork doesn’t try to be realistic, but that’s okay. It has more of an old-school comic book feel, which isn’t much of a surprise since it seems to be targeted for younger kids.
3.5 pushed up to 4/5

4.5 stars because this was to short! But oh my, the story was so cool! There are 8 weeks until Christmas, and that means 56 days, so almost 2 months. Reading this manga brought me closer to it.

Here we meet Holly, the daughter of Santa, a beautiful redhead girl. Santa wakes her up telling her that the Yeti Princess is coming to their home. She dresses up and when she opens the door, there she is: Frostina, the furry yeti princess with almost the same age as Holly, but a little younger. While Holly presents her the house, they discover a little green troggie trying to steal a magical wand. Then he tries to explain to them that a big evil king enslaved them into the Underground, Holly and Frostina go there on an adventure.
The art is exquisite, the colors are amazing, and the story is funny and cute, There are only 2 chapters, but I can't wait for volume 2.

What a cute little story! I think this would be great for kids...it gave me a huge smile. Good story about friendship and bravery.

Perfectly acceptable, this comic for the very young audience has a lot of colour and brightness about it, and won't change anyone's world, but is fun and energetic enough without being too twee, sappy or stupid. With only the one two-part story it doesn't exactly go far, though.

This was a great comic with a great title. In Snowville, Santa's daughter Holly (not much of a stretch there!) thinks she's getting a babysitting job when she's put in charge of the daughter of the visiting Yeti King. She doesn't know she's about to set out on an adventure which will uncover a conspiracy at the North Pole!

She quickly learns that Frostina is a girl very much her own age if a little taller (she's a yeti after all, although she doesn't look much like the traditional yeti is supposed to), and very soon the two are involved in an adventure. This was, to me, described a little confusingly in the blurb as being a trip to "the subterranean city of Undertown to investigate trouble in Troggie Town." I didn't quite get what that meant. Is Troggie Town part of the City of Undertown, maybe a suburb or an Ethnic neighborhood? Or is Undertown misrepresented and is a region rather than a city or a town - a region in which lies Troggie Town? It's no big deal, but it felt a bit confusing, especially since it doesn't look subterranean at all, being awash in snow, trees, and lots of bright light!

Anyway, while down there they encounter some weird and wonderful creatures and strange opponents, but the two feisty girls win through and save Christmas, and isn't that what's needed more than anything - saving Christmas from any selfish interests which would ruin it? We can all fight that battle!

I really enjoyed this story and thought it was well-written, beautifully drawn and colored, and told a worthy tale of Christmas fun and adventure.
