Unfortunately, this did not live up to expectations. As a big fan of Little Women, I was hoping this would be a reimagining I could be on board with. I did not like Todd's take on the characters and how she envisioned them if they had lived in the 21st century. Sadly, this one majorly missed the mark for me and I ended up not finishing it in the end.

love the way Anna Todd writes and even though this was a modern take on the Little Women and i have to admit even though i have never seen Little Women i knew i still had to read it and if it did anything it makes me want to watch it now.

I loved this story it was such a beautiful take on a family growing up and coming of age, in a way i wish i had this book when i was around 16 as it would have been such an amazing story to read at that age. In saying that I’m 35 and still loved it.

In this tale of 4 sisters we get to learn so much about this family and what it’s like to live in the military world and live in certain places and try and build relationships with other people even if you don’t know where you will be in a week, month or year.

It also shows that a thing can happen in the blink of an eye to change a family and we really get to see how a family comes together as well as butting heads at the same time. We had four such different sisters who tried to help each other even though they were different and they had each others backs

It was such a different book to what i would normally read but again a big fan of Anna Todd and i didn’t want to put this down. It’s a must read and it really shows us aswell how social media in these days can really be hurtful and you have nowhere o hide.

Absolutely loved this story and it’s a must read loved it 5 Stars.

Spring Girls was not for me. I tried multiple times to get into the story and failed sadly.

I voluntarily reviewed this book.

I’ve tried several times before to enjoy a book by Anna Todd, she seems like such a nice person and I really want to jump on the hype wagon that is her books, but The Spring Girls is no different from her other books.

I felt like the writing was poor and needed better editing, the characters are shallow, boring, and unlikable, and the plot could use a revamp or two.

After about 20%, I decided to speed read through the rest of the book, hoping it would get better towards the end but it didn’t.
I haven’t read Little Women since I was a kid so I don’t remember enough of it to compare to The Spring Girls so I can’t really speak on that aspect of the book. I did think the idea of a modern Little Women was really cool but this book just didn’t do it for me at all.

I love that Anna Todd takes chances and writes all different kinds of things. That she took a chance and make some of the most famous sisters in the literary world her own? Wow. Mad respect to you, Anna Todd. I hope that she continues to take risks and write the words of her heart.

I'm sad to say that I was not the biggest fan of this one.

Maybe I had high hopes given that the After series is one of my absolute faves and I expected to fall in love with Anna's writing all over again, but I just couldn't. There was something about this story that just felt unfinished. I also wasn't the biggest fan of the characters, which I believe is the most important here. I was a little bored with them and overall, with the story too.

I may still continue to read Anna's books, but this one just wasn't for me.

I was excited when I found out Anna Todd was writing a modern retelling of Little Women. Please know going in, this book is not an exact retelling. The book is well written and I really liked it. I was impressed with how spot on the author was able to create the family dynamic. It felt real and very relatable. I did feel like there were some difference in the characters from the original book. However, I did enjoy The Spring Girls.

I'm so sad that I didn't enjoy this book enough to finish it.
I remember loving Little Women, and I also remember not liking Amy. And sadly, that's my main issue is this retelling.
I put the book on hold for a while and then decided to listen to the audiobook and I felt the same, so I decided to give up
:(

I love Anna Todd's writing style, the After series is book crack to me. I have been looking forward to reading The Spring Girls, but sadly this book just wasn't for me. I do however, look forward to future releases from this author.

I tried but sadly, I just didn't connect with this. I didn't get far and I had to stop. I guess I need to stick with the original.

I wasn't sure what to expect going into this book, I mean Little Women is a classic and I just wasn't sure how Anna Todd would've gone about her story. I was pleasantly surprised, I really did enjoy this book. Little Women in today's world, who would've guessed!

A beautiful and strong bond between 4 sisters, we see their lives grow and mature.

Definitely a page turner I recommend.

The Spring Girls is billed as a 21st century retelling of the American classic, Little Women, by Anna Todd. It does not have much in common with the original book, except the fact that the author has kept the names of the four sisters and placed them in a situation where they are being raised by their mother while their father is away in the military. This version lacks the sweetness and true family unity that is so endearing in the original book. This is why, I think, I had trouble emotionally investing in any of the characters. If I had, I could have accepted this alternate version much more readily as a new story that stood on its own, There was a lot of angst, and not much happiness in the characters and plot. The book is told in alternating first person narrative, so it should have been easy to step into their shoes. Hopefully others will step into those shoes more easily than I did. Thank you Gallery Books and NetGalley for the ARC of this book and for allowing me to review it.

This is a modern day version of Little Women that was like looking into the window of a home I was walking by and zooming in on a snapshot of the family’s daily life. Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy are the Spring Girls, they live with their mum Meredith who is doing her best to raise them in their father’s absence overseas serving in the military. They live on an Army base and move around every few years or so and money is tight for them.

The story is set in today’s world but at times often felt like it was more like the earlier setting as they lived quite a simple, non-materialistic life. The girls were sharing bedrooms, sometimes beds, they borrowed each other’s clothes and Meg has dreams for her future that seem quite outdated.

Meg is the eldest and has dreams of marrying a military man and having a family. She is beautiful and attracts a lot of attention. Not always good though, over the years she has had issues with boys taking advantage of her and other girls being jealous of her. Having her private life splashed across social media was one of the most difficult things she has had to endure so each move the family makes to a new base is a bit of a blessing for her. The opportunity to start fresh can have it’s positive side.

Beth is quite shy and very much a homebody. She loves to bake and take care of things at home. She is home schooled and finds socialising / making friends very difficult. She is very much the care giver in the Spring house and steps up when Meredith is feeling overwhelmed.

Jo has dreams of getting away from the family home as soon as she graduates high school. She wants to move to New York and be a journalist for her favourite magazine. She is very well read and has strong opinions on issues going on in the world and can often be found with her nose in a book. She is quite a striking looking young woman but is completely unaware of it, she loathes how much girls worry about how they look and prefers a more natural, casual look.

Amy is the baby of the family at 12 years old. She is rumbunctious and loves to get involved in all of her sister’s business. She hates to miss out and is not backwards in coming forward. She is impatient to grow up and be more like her older sisters.

We follow each sister as they navigate their way through friendships, romance, love and heartache. They may not always see eye to eye but the bond between them is unbreakable.

‘Never, ever, let anyone take your strength, girls. Don’t let anyone make you feel less than whole, and if they try, show them who you are.’ – Meredith Spring (Mum).

Unfortunately, I did not finish this book. As much as I love Little Women, this modern day retelling did not sit well with me. I could not connect with any character, but truly appreciate the opportunity I was given to review before the release.

Anna Todd has had a fan in me since the days where she mainly wrote on Wattpad. I will instantly read anything that she puts out, because she is just that wonderful. This book was nothing short of that. She loves to pull readers in from the beginning and loves to leave them hanging for more and more. The characters in this book are absolutely fun and bright and you fall in love with them from the beginning. If i was in charge of my New Adult section in my library, this would be on the top of my list to buy!

I wasn’t sure how to feel about a book that compares itself to a classic. But I really enjoyed Todd’s Spring Girls. She does a great job depicting the lives of a family full of very individual teen girls. Each girl coming of age at different stages yet all dealing with living the life of a military. I really liked this book but I can’t say it compares to the classic Little Women.

I really didn't know what to expect with this book. The cover and the description of being a modern day Little Women caught my attention and I decided to read it not knowing much else about it. I ended up really enjoying it. I used to watch a kids version of Little Women over and over as a young child, but I honestly don't remember much about it so I can't really compare the two. At first I didn't think I'd like trying to keep up with the 4 story lines as the chapters switched the point of view between the four daughters, but I was quickly untangled in the lives of the Spring sisters and couldn't put the book down. There were a few errors that need to be corrected but I'm sure this will be done during the final editing of the book. All in all I really enjoyed this one and would recommend it!

A CHARMING and COMPELLING coming-of-age saga that paints a vivid picture of sisterhood and the strong family bond, The Spring Girls grabs you and never lets go. This Little Women-inspired read is so RIVETING and RELATABLE. The setting of New Orleans and Germany were places I’ve lived or heavily frequented. I instantly related to the mother, Meredith, an Army wife of four children like me. I saw some of myself in each of the Spring girls. Each sister is so CHARMING and CHARISMATIC that you’ll be pressed to choose a favorite Spring girl. I LOVED everything about this spellbinding story of sisters.

We were a force of nature, the four of us Spring girls.

The Spring Girls is a POWERFUL and PASSIONATE story of love, acceptance, and identity discovery. This tale is brilliantly told with multiple heroine viewpoints that flawlessly flow into the overarching family saga. The Spring Girls is fresh, fun, and full of feels. I couldn’t put this book down. What an ENTHRALLING and EVOCATIVE journey!!! My only problem is that I NEED MORE!!!

I loved the plot twist. I loved the entire idea that people were never who we thought they were.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 strong ‘sisterhood’ stars

I honestly did not like this book at all. I don’t like Little Women but I was hoping that Anna Todd could bring a better perspective to the tale and I just didn’t like it at all. I just felt the characters like those in little women were flat, selfish, and boring. The only person I really liked was Beth and that was it. I didn’t like that Jo was in this head space that you could be girly and tomboyish at the same time. I’m like that so it was like she was saying that against me. Maybe I’m reading too much into it but still. Meh was just selfish and stuck up and I did not like her at all. Amy was just annoying AF and the mother was a disappointment. I felt bad for Beth. She was basically everyone’s slave. And Jo noticed that but never really did much to help her. She would notice that she was everyone’s slave and then never did much about it. Overall i did not enjoy this book, but I feel like if you’re a fan of little women this is definitely the book for you. Sadly for me it was not. I just went into it hoping that I would gain a better liking for it but nope.
