This was a great read! Devoured in one day and hard to put down.

This was the first I had read in this series and had no issues following the story. Easy to read as a stand-alone

I completely forgot to write this review. I definitely enjoyed this story. Suzanne Enoch is an excellent writer and never disappoints. Callum and Becca’s story was well paced and an excellent way to spend a rainy day. I loved Callum’s relationship with his young niece and I loved the dogs!

This book started off well, it was an entertaining read with a decent writing style, good flow and pacing. I didn't really love the characters though and it took way too long to get into the romance.

This is the third book in the series and while it can be read as a stand alone, there will be confusion as to why in the prologue Callum threatens the Duke of Dunncraigh seemingly unprovoked. It is all made clear in the previous book, My One True Highlander.

The prologue characterizes Callum MacCreath as a drunk womanizer. At the time, he was. Upon learning his childhood friend, Rebecca, is going to marry his older brother, he insists and then insults her to marry him. His behavior is so despicable that he is banished, at which time he threatens the Duke of Dunncraigh that if anything happens to his brother or Rebecca, he'd be coming for him. Callum makes his way to America, to Kentucky, and builds himself a whiskey empire in his decade-long absence. During this time, Ian MacCreath sends continuous letters to Callum that are ignored. Never hearing word from him, Rebecca accepts the help and friendship of the Duke and his son after her husband's death, soon followed by the loss of her father. The Duke and his son have set their sites on the widow and her home.

Everything they thought would happen comes to an abrupt halt when Callum does return to claim his inheritance. Despite burning every unopened letter from Ian, Callum cannot ignore a news story about his brother's death. His brother's death that he finds highly suspicious.

With his return, Callum does find that his brother and Rebecca had an enjoyable life. The inquisitive Mags, their daughter, is just as determined as her newly discovered uncle. It takes Callum aback. He wants to do nothing but kill the murderers and avenge his brother, despite their disagreement and Callum's long-held anger. Though she was the love of his childhood, Callum does not trust Rebecca or her innocent act and he treats her so. While he firmly believes he knows his brother was murdered, nobody else does. It appears that Callum is still the hot-headed, irrational young man he left Scotland as. Rebecca refuses to leave without her daughter, and Callum will not allow Mags to be taken away, so they have to find a way to live together. As Callum continues to be present in her home, the feelings they had both let go of a decade ago resurface. Callum knows he must convince her and protect her, and prove himself to her that he is not the impulsive, reckless idiot that he was before. She does concede that if Callum can find proof that Ian was murdered, she will support him.

Rebecca's choices made sense. She chose the reliable older brother, rather than the brash younger brother. When he returns, Rebecca is also suspicious of him. Regardless of her suspicions of Callum, he wins the heart of not only Mags, but also several members of the household. He is tenderly attached to Mags, who adores him and his wolf Waya. The wolf pack have been together since he nursed Waya back to health as a pup. Like Callum, Waya is ferociously protective and loyal. Rebecca's heart begins to warm to the prospect of having him around. At first she was stringently against levirate marriage - something Callum brings up a several times - but as their situation continues, her unease grows.

When it becomes clear that Callum is on to something and his notion of murder is not as far-fetched as everyone believes, he must choose between building a life with her over his striking vengeance. It is not an easy choice, and Callum struggles heavily under the weight of what he must do. The evidence has finally been uncovered and things seem to fall into place. Until a desperate Dunncraigh inserts himself and takes drastic measures to steal the hope for their future.

I loved the way Callum and Rebecca fell into love together, despite (or maybe in spite of?) the surrounding circumstances. I adored Mags and her delightful "wolf pack". They all fell into family life so easily and naturally. A fast-paced, conflict-filled story that is hard to pass up!

I didn't read the other books in the series beforehand, but the book works fine as a standalone. It was a bit of a slow start, but it picked up as the story went on. A childhood friends to lovers story with a touch of revenge.

We have all read a story synopsis that makes us a little leery about reading the book, wondering if we are really going to enjoy it, even if we know the author and trust their work immensely, and this was one of those stories for me. Luckily Ms. Enoch came through for me with amazing aplomb. I enjoyed this story, the suspense and emotional drama were more than enough to make it worth every second of reading, but when you add in the unrequited love, intense chemistry, and familial responsibility that is being dealt with, the story goes from just OK, to being fantastic. Callum has returned from a long separation from his family a new man, a man with a strong work ethic and the ability to lead, all traits he would never have developed had he not been forced to grow up so quickly. The death of his brother has left him with only one thing on his mind, vengeance, and if he has to bring down the only woman he ever thought he loved to get it, consequences be damned, but almost immediately his goals are changed and he has to find a way to get justice without blowing up his new world. Becca once made a practical decision, using her head instead of her heart, but she never imagined she would be widowed with so many responsibilities at such a young age. Now she is faced with the furious brother of her late husband, the man that grew out of the boy she once loved with all her heart, and she has to decide if she wants to throw her lot in with him or turn to the only other men in her life, men she has always trusted and believed in. As they are forced to work together to uncover the truth around Ian’s death Becca and Callum cannot deny the passion that flares between them, but neither believe there can be more, until suddenly they cannot deny it a moment more. It might be too late to change the past, but they have a future that is unwritten and only they can decide what will go on those pages, if they are still alive to write them. I LOVED this story even as there were moments I really wanted to smack Callum for his callousness and ruthlessness. Callum was a man I could believe perfectly growing from the guilty boy that was forced from his home after a terrible decision. I found him interesting, strong, stubborn, dangerous, and sexy as hell, but when he is around the women in his life (once he stops being an asshole to Becca) he is a giant teddy bear that offers them a protector but also a broad shoulder to cry on. Becca was a little bit naïve in a lot of ways, but thankfully once the evidence was presented to her, came to understand that not everything is as it seems in her little world. She is obviously smart, passionate, and loving, but in her own right I think she is a bold personality and the type of woman that is needed to balance the rougher edges of Callum’s personality. I loved seeing her go up against Callum in their passionate arguments and, of course, once she switched sides she was just as amazing going against their enemies with him. The chemistry was obviously still there for these two even after so many years apart and the fact that they had both changed so much over those years, but honestly the moments when they are just together in peace were just as good as the sexy moments. I was thrilled with the conclusion of this series and I look forward to seeing what comes next for Ms. Enoch and getting a chance to hopefully meet a whole new group of sexy Scots! Thanks for the amazing journey through the highlands with this Clan of crazy interesting characters.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

I LOVED it. Callum and Rebecca were charming and grew into wonderful characters that got a second chance at love. The most wonderful character though was Rebecca's daughter, Maggie. Not only did this 6 year old charm Callum and his wolf Waya, but myself as well. She reminded me of my nieces.

I adore Ms. Enoch's writing. She has a fantastic flair for writing. You just get lost in the story. I couldn't put this down as I was so intrigued by the plot. This is a book that will go on the "to read again" shelf.

Although well written, Callum & Becca's story didn't do it for me. Their relationship as in-laws was a distraction that I had a hard time overcoming. As a side note, Callum's relationship with his niece was adorable! In general, I enjoy Suzanne Enoch & look forward to her next release.

Can people go from being friends to enemies to lovers? This historical romance leads us to the answer. I have not read many historical romances, and it did not capture and hold my attention as other books have done. I can usually sit with a book and finish it off within a few hours. This one was a pick up, put down, pick up, put down read for me. I tend to think it's because I am not a fan of history.

As a fan of historical romance, I'm familiar with Suzanne Enoch's name but can't recall any of her other titles I've read offhand. I was excited to get into this one, as I'm especially a fan of historical romances with older main characters, and those who are not members of the nobility or don't conform particularly well to the gowns-and-ballrooms stereotype of historical romance fiction. Unfortunately, the hero's behavior and attitude was too much to overcome for me to really enjoy A Devil in Scotland. In the prologue, Callum's behavior towards Rebecca was so disrespectful, arrogant, and angry that I felt it would require some serious groveling and showing that he had grown as a person and made an effort to understand why Rebecca made her choices. However, I never felt like this growth as a person really happened; while Callum did grow and develop in other ways, becoming a hardworking and responsible businessman, a romance should focus on the development within or towards the main romantic relationship, and I didn't see that here, which left me unsatisfied.

This was a great read. I read it fairly quickly and found I could not stop turning the pages to see what was going to happen next. Callum and Becca were steaming the pages from the start and I was rooting for them right away.

There was some suspense throughout the story to uncover the unexpected deaths of Callum's brother and Becca's father, but did not overshadow the romance. A fabulous Highland romance worth picking up!

Very entertaining
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. All of Suzanne Enoch's books are great; this one is no exception.

Another enjoyable tale from Suzanne Enoch's No Ordinary Hero series. This is a tale of an irresponsible youth banished from his home and returning a decade later upon news of his older brother's death. It begins as a distrust of all in a quest to find out who killed his brother and seek vengeance. It quickly develops into love for his brother's wife and child, and a need to protect them and seek justice for his brother's death.

I have voluntarily posted a review consisting of my honest opinions.

Callum leaves Scotland when his brother marries his childhood friend and learns that his feelings were deeper than friendship. He returns to find his brother dead and the feelings from past for Rebecca are not gone. Good storyline to keep the reader turning pages.

Ebook from netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own

1806, Callum MacCreath had been a wild and crazy young man all his life – treating life as an unrelenting adventure just drinking and womanizing and no way is marriage in any of his plans. However, when he learns his childhood best friend Rebecca, and his older steady and upstanding brother Ian announces that they plan to marry Callum’s world turns upside down. He didn’t realize it but he wanted Becca for his own. Having been drinking all day Callum was not in his right mind and not only made a fool of himself asking Becca to run away with him, but Becca turned around and gave him a scathing refusal. Having heard their argument his brother Ian banishes him for his duplicity and betrayal whereby Callum was only too happy to leave Scotland forever….

1816 – Marrying Ian was the practical, logical thing for Becca to do. But once Callum sailed away to America, she missed his rakish charm and lust for life. Now, ten years later, Becca is a widow when a much-changed Callum returns to his Scottish homeland. Ian had died an accidental death, but will Callum blame her for his demise? Now neither can deny their scorching attraction, but will Callum ever trust her when she is keeping company with the man Callum blames for his brothers death.

*** I have always been a big fan of Suzanne Enoch and I have to say she has never disappointed me with her talent in writing a fully developed novel with extraordinary characters which makes me want to complete reading it in one sitting. Callum was a great character and it was a pleasure to see him remake himself, after being banished by his only brother and cruelly rejected by the woman he always thought of as his best ‘buddy’ and friend.

One thing he was positive of was that his brother’s death was no accident! Now that the title had reverted to him he knew he had to return to Scotland to discover the truth. What he never expected was to discover he had a niece whom he hadn’t known about - a child who completely stole his heart from the first moment he met her and he would protect her with his very life. The fact that her mother Becca was keeping company with one of the prime suspects Callum felt was responsible for the ‘accident’ that claimed his brothers life. He would never let his niece be in the company of such a man.

I highly recommend this book and all the wonderful characters you’ll meet from a young precocious child to the four footed pets who form a ‘pack’. Absolutely wonderful sensual romance and suspense adventure!!!

I typically really enjoy Suzanne Enoch's work, and this book was no exception. I was a little troubled by the heroine's seeming obliviousness to the machinations of the baddies around her, especially after the hero's warning against them at the beginning of the book. I found this book to be a fast paced, enjoyable read.

"If I ever hear of anything ill happening to my brother or to his wife, I will come and find ye. Even if I have to claw my way oot of hell to do it." --Callum MacCreath

And that is how this novel begins.

Ten years ago, Callum was shocked when he learned his brother, Ian, was engaged to his childhood friend Rebecca. He believes that Ian (and therefore Rebecca) is being manipulated into a bad business deal by the clan chief, but he is banished from House MacCreath after Callum asks Becca to marry him instead. Becca vehemently refuses as she sees Ian as stable and able to provide her with a steady life. Callum is then forced to leave, but he warns Ian of his suspicions and vows to seek revenge should anything happen. Now, Callum is called back to Scotland after learning of his brother's untimely death. He is fueled by his need for vengeance and the truth, but is distracted and entranced by the life his brother has since made for himself..

I actually really enjoyed this novel, but it was just so long. I felt that there was some stuff that was continually repeated--Becca's indecisiveness as to whether she could trust Callum, Callum's need for vengeance vs. wanting to make Becca happy--and could have been condensed. Other than that, I don't have any complaints. The mystery/danger aspect was really fun, and I loved the friends to lovers/enemies to lovers relationship that Callum and Becca had going on. The dynamic between all the characters (and Waya) was really great as well. Becca was such a strong, take-no-crap heroine and wasn't afraid to stand up to Callum, and Callum was just hilarious. Give this one a read!

I love a good Scottish historical, and this author is a consistent writer for me. I thought this book offered some unique plot, and characterization. Especially having the main characters be a widow, and there being a past between the leads.
