I loved this book! I would give this book a solid 4-1/4 stars! It has all the elements of a great read: First and foremost, it has a good story plot ...the characters are well developed and it was hot and steamy all in the right places! I loved the humor that this author had injected into the book! There were a couple of comments that were made that had me chuckling right out loud! There were a couple of memorable secondary characters that were worth mentioning: Lady Mags and Waya. There were 2 or 3 instances where these two almost stole the show ...they balanced out the book quite nicely! I would definitely look for more books from this author in the future!

An odd read for me because, for once, I found myself in the odd situation of not particularly loving either the hero or heroine but seriously digging the crew of supporting characters. The hero/heroine were not particularly bad or poorly written characters, they just never reached out and grabbed me. I found their first encounters as spurned friends to be flat and emotionless. The hero is told to leave and never return, which he does. Fast forward 10 years and now he's uber successful whiskey maker in America. In my opinion, that would have been the most interesting part of the story and it was glossed over. The following plot was too convoluted to easily follow and I find myself flipping through the book to keep names straight, which served only to remove me from the story and not fall into it. Not a bad read, not a great one. I'd hold out for another from this author before solidifying my opinion on her.

This was a bit different from the sorbet I normally read, but I really liked the synopsis.

I liked Callum and Rebecca. They’re both stubborn and sassy and there’s just so much chemistry between them. Rebecca’s daughter, Mags, pretty much stole every scene she was in and I couldn’t get enough of Waya.

Plot wise, it was okay. The backstory with Rebecca’s husband {aka Calllum’s brother} felt quite convoluted and with so many different clans and various members mentioned, it was hard to keep everyone straight. The scenes between Callum, Rebecca, and Mags are what kept me reading.

Overall, it was a good story with fantastic characters. I might look into other books from the series.

I have had the pleasure of reading Suzanne's novels in the past and own much of her collection in my personal library. Starting this novel i had high expectations for this novel and was quite surprised at abrupt early events in the opening pages. When starting any novel i always want to immediately admire the main characters perhaps for their strength, courage, compassion, or maybe skills. However the prologue quickly painted a picture of a seemly drunken self serving gentlemen, and a materialistic refined young woman.

Through my skepticism in the prologue i continued reading and must say that Suzanne displayed an effortless development and self growth in Callum. Within the first chapters i discovered a grown, matured, hardened man whom had worked hard for everything he possessed and became an extremely successful businessman. Callum scorned and rejected by the people he cared for most had moved on with his life, starting his own story determined to make it his own. Inadvertently Callum receives a crushing blow in the form of news spiraling him back to his roots in Inverness a heart full of vengeful violence and resentment. After ten years Callum steps foot back on Scottish soil, ready to make anyone and everyone responsible for his brothers death pay dearly.

Rebecca still reeling from the emptiness of loosing both her father and husband in the same year can only focus on her daughter and the business left in her lap. When a visitor arrives at her door and in walks a man from her past that she had convinced herself she never wanted to see again Rebecca falls into a full swoon of shock.

After ten year back in each others presence, and not shortly after in each others presence Callum and Rebecca must prepare themselves for an emotional roller coaster of passion, conspiracy, and murder. The reader is left unknowing what is around each corner, and what Callum is truly planning.

"I thought my entire book had been written," she said quietly, leaning her shoulder against his. "You were an early chapter of regret and disappointment and questions." Rebecca kissed the frown on his brow. "Now i think perhaps you were the prologue, and my next set of chapters is just the beginning." This time she kissed...


Until the final pages i was absorbed into Callum's quiet strength and self assurance. I remained pleasantly surprised thorough this read and was astonished at Becca's willingness to trust Callum blindly after only having just reunited with him. This is a good sit down novel and was not a quick read for me.


This is Book number three in Suzanne Enoch's No Ordinary Hero Book Series. Do not fear worry about reading these novels out of order, this was a great stand alone read as well.

A Devil in Scotland is the third book in series of standalones, but now I want to go back and read the first two...and probably a few more of Suzanne Enoch's books.

This is a second chance romance of sorts. Callum and Rebecca had been childhood friend ten years earlier, but they didn't develop a further relationship despite both of them having thoughts of it. Then Rebecca marries Callum's brother Ian, and Callum leaves Scotland.

I had reservations about the whole brother's widow scenario, but it was well done. Neither Callum or Rebecca were ready for each other ten years prior, but due to their individual situations and life events each matured into the other's perfect compliment.

And let's not forget about Mags. She was wonderful!

I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.

A Devil in Scotland is a fun romantic novel that has everything you could possibly want...mystery, intrigue, romance, a hot (headed) Scot in a kilt and a strong woman who has to make difficult choices. This book was an easy and interesting read and I thoroughly enjoyed all of the adventure to American and back...a wonderful way to fill the time now that Outlander season 3 has ended and we're entering another Droughtlander! Looking forward to the next book in Suzanne Enoch's No Ordinary Hero Series!

This story starts with the epilogue telling how Callum comes home drunk during a meeting/argument about his longtime friend Rebecca. She is going to marry his older brother Ian. He know this isn’t right because his brother and her father are getting involved with people who are not to be trusted. He is also jealous and says horrible things about Ian and Rebecca when she turns his proposal down. He is told to leave and never come back. That is just what he does. He becomes a rich man in his own rights in America but his brother has sent him many letters which he has his staff burn, that is until he finds out his brother dies in an accident. He knows he is murdered and vows revenge. It is a game of cat and mouse as he tries to prove the murder of Ian and Rebecca father. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book given to me by Netgalley.

This was a great story. Callum, Ian and Rebecca grow up together. Callum always assumed Rebecca would always be waiting for him, until she wasn't. She accepted the offer of marriage from his brother, Ian. Not because he was laird or because she loved him, but because he was safe, steady, secure. Callum goes crazy and is banished from the clan. For the next 10 yrs, he makes his life in America, building up a reputable distillery business.
He then gets the news his brother is dead, drowned, and he is laird. Callum knows there is no way his brother drowned since he was an excellent swimmer. So he heads back to Scotland to find out who murdered his brother. Home to Rebecca. The chemistry between these 2 is seen from the beginning. You knew even though Rebecca was marrying Ian, her heart belonged to Callum. Callum worries whoever killed his brother is after Rebecca next and vows to protect her and his niece, Mags. Together they work to find the proof they need to prove who murdered Ian. And at the same time they have a second chance at exploring the love they have for one another.

The last book in A No Ordinary Hero novel entitled A Devil in Scotland, penned by Suzanne Enoch, and published under the St. Martin’s Press imprint. Bring us the story of Callum MacCreath who in 1806 tries to stop the marriage of his childhood Rebecca to his older brother. With one misstep, Ian banishes him, by then Callum was happy to leave Scotland forever. But before he left he left a warning to his brother that to keep his enemy close.
Now in 1816, Callum learns that his brother regarded his warning a little too late. Now Callum finds himself back in Scotland to keep his promise to his brother and the leader of the Maxwell clan who Callum knows murdered his brother.
Sparks again fly when Callum reunites with Rebecca. And with his return, he must keep not only Rebecca safe but his brother daughter as well.

I read one other title in this series, besides this one, and didn’t enjoy it the novel as much as I did A Devil in Scotland. A Devil in Scotland lied more heavenly on the drama which I really enjoy when it comes to Historical Romance. With a well-developed plot and enjoyable characters. A Devil in Scotland is one novel you should add to your reading shelf.

True to all the Scottish romance suspense novels out there this measures up! What an amazing story of highlands romance, corruption and greed. Second chance romance kinda. Adorable 6 year old, waya a wolf and a mop of a dog named reginald. Mags stole every scene she was in! This is a very good Scottish romance novel, right down to the talk and it's traditions. Throw in a unique story and a near perfect read! A little slow in the very beginning but things pick up quickly and soon your submerged in the highlands and these characters! Great read and a new author to follow!

This is the third and final book in the “No Ordinary Hero” series after “Hero in the Highlands” and “My One True Highlander” which I read and enjoyed thoroughly earlier this year.

When he learns that Ian, laird MacCreath, and his father-in-law George Sanderson had died mysteriously within a fortnight of each other almost a year ago, Callum MacCreath knows it is time to return to his native Scotland to find the chief of the clan, the duke of Dunncraigh and kill him.

Ten years earlier, when Callum was a rake of only 20, he tried to warn Ian of the unfaithful motivations of the chief of clan Maxwell, a cruel man hungry for wealth and power. Instead, Ian not only ignored his little brother’s warnings but he also got himself betrothed to George Sanderson’s daughter Rebecca, the girl Callum grew up with, his one and only love. I love Suzanne Enoch’s books. Having read several of them I find that the “No Ordinary Hero” trilogy is my favorite of her series and the final book didn’t disappoint at all, although honestly I have to say that it is my least favorite of the trilogy. The problem, in my personal opinion, is that the story focuses so clearly on the mystery/detective story side rather than on Becca’s and Callum’s romance. The antagonism turned romance is well developed and it is beautiful indeed, but we don’t get to read as much of that as of the clan’s politics, the revenge and the motivations, the dealings with the past, the anger and the regret. This is not necessarily a bad thing, those feelings and dealings needed to be there, but I would have liked that both aspects of the novel (the whodunit and why, and the romance) had been more balance, more of a 50/50 so to speak.

Having said that, I loved the way Callum and Becca learn to build a new trust between them. This is what they needed in the end. But I loved even more the natural way they become a family themselves and little Mags. And Mags was my favorite character, her and her acceptance of Callum right from the start. They become a pack of wolves the minute they meet, and pack is a metaphor for family, love and protection.

Although I said that "A Devil in Scotland" is my least favorite of the trilogy, to be fair and completely honest, I must say that the expectations were very high, so high that it was not easy at all that the book would meet them. But in the end I liked the book very much; I liked it more than most of Enoch’s earlier books, still not as much as the first two books of “No Ordinary Hero”, but that is ok.

I’ve not read any of Suzanne’s work before , but after this I fully intend to carry on .
The Devil In Scotland is a brilliant piece of writing that from the first keeps you turning those pages .
I finished it in about 6 hours and barely left it , except for the school run and that was under duress lol 😆.
I recommend this to all Fans of romance, throughly enjoyable.

There is plenty of tension, action, danger, and romance in "A Devil in Scotland" which makes for a thrilling and exciting read. Suzanne Enoch writes great romance novels and I look forward to her next series.

Suzanne Enoch doesn't fail to please and I really enjoyed her latest romance set in Scotland. Very sexy, very romantic and I just love brawny Highlanders.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. This is the third in the No Ordinary Hero series but can be read as a stand alone. I will say however, characters from the previous two books are mentioned enough times to peak your curiosity.
I requested this book for: 1) THE GORGEOUS COVER and 2) THE AUTHOR. I never did read the description until I started to read the book. The book is about Callum MacCreath who returns after the death of his older brother Ian, and begins to woes Rebecca; Ian's widow. I ALMOST ALWAYS have a problem with the "woe the brother's widow" trope and yet Suzanne Enoch did a wonderful job. It never felt weird to me as I was reading the book. I enjoyed how Enoch explained an old Scottish law that allowed for brothers to marry the widow in order to keep power and money in the family.
I loved the couple of Rebecca and Callum and the banter between the two was wonderful. The two of them work together to find out who killed Ian. As the two work towards the end, the relationship intensifies and they become equals.
This was a wonderful book about romance with steamy sex scenes. I loved it!!!!

I dnf'd a little over halfway through. I just lost interest becuase it felt rather drawn out. I simply didn't connect to the characters. I was really intrigues by the setting and the plot was interesting but the execution was lacking for me.

I always love a Suzanne Enoch book. A Devil in Scotland is the best of her No Ordinary Hero series with a great heroine and hero.

I really enjoyed A Devil in Scotland. I was completely involved in the story from page one right up to the very exciting end. This is a regency novel but with a twist, I loved the characters and the conspiracy that they had to uncover together. I especially loved how one wolf and one six year old girl charmed a tough man!

Callum MacCreath and Rebecca have been best friends for years. Rebecca has watched Callum turn wild and reckless. The two have always had feelings for one another. When Rebecca announces she is marrying Callum's older more responsible titled brother, Ian, Callum is eaten up with jealousy and realizes his feelings for Rebecca. But it is too late, Callum is thrown from his home and asked not to return. Callum heads to America where he changes his ways and becomes owner of a successful business.

Ten years later, Callum learns his brother is dead. He returns to Scotland to have revenge on everyone who caused his brother's death. He learns Rebecca and Ian had a daughter, Mags, who immediately charms him. Callum also learns Rebecca is just as much a victim as his brother was. As the two work together to figure out who killed Ian, they realized the feelings and passion they felt for one another is still there. Callum tries hard to protect Rebecca and Mags but in order to have a future with them, he has to change his idea of revenge. He has to do it legally so that he can have a future, but as he tries to do it the legal way, one of the things he treasures most is kidnapped.
