This book is a good fit for readers looking for a paranormal romance with a strong focus on themes of protection, sanctuary, and finding love in the face of danger.

I started out ravishing every word in this book, but it didn't take long for me to start rolling my eyes and wishing the ending would hurry up. There was so much and nothing at the same time... I can't justify recommending this to anyone.

BABY, I'M HOWLING FOR YOU - Christine Warren

HOT! - 4 stars

Plot - 4 stars - Renny is on the run from her stalker and ends up in Alpha, Washington, a town known as a sanctuary for shifters who have nowhere else to go. Despite her feeling guilty about bringing trouble to the town, everyone rallies around her and is determined to keep her safe, especially the guy who quickly turns out to mean more to her than she ever expected.

Writing - 4 stars - The story started with a bang and caught my attention right away. The action was fast and exciting, and the characters were entertaining. I liked the whole world that Warren built, and felt oddly at home in this diverse community.

Characters - 4 stars - This is where the story shone for me. Renny is a strong and capable character, but she's in over her head when a stalker decides her wants her and won't let her go. She's funny, personable, and I liked her spunk. Mick, the shifter who turns out to be her mate, is strong, totally alpha, but he's also sensitive enough to know when to let her make her own decisions. Supporting characters of Zeke and Molly are funny and made enough witty remarks to keep me smiling.

Title - 3.5 stars - I guess the title implies that Mick's inner wolf is attracted to Renny, despite the man's doubts.

Cover - 4 stars - The cover is very eye-catching, with the prominent wolf eyes looking out over the scene.

Overall - 4 stars - This is a new-to-me author, and I enjoyed this book very much. The romance was hot (!), and the shifter aspect simply made it more interesting. The characters were pleasant and shared witty banter that made me smile. I liked everyone's values and the sense of friendship and support that was the basis of the town. This was a good start to a series, and I look forward to reading more from this series and from this author.

The town of Alpha is a refuge for shifters of all types. That is why aren’t runs there (literally) when she is trying to get away from her stalker. ARC from NetGalley.

Love in hiding…

And who doesn’t love a wolf-y, stalker romance? Me, for one! And this was a fun, tension-filled read. This author knows how to make me laugh under the most trying circumstances and Renny and Mick’s story offered all of it!

Renny had been running from a man who insisted they were supposed to be together. Now, he was just angry. And deadlier than ever. She found herself under the protection of a man-wolf who may be her mate but really – he was just a different, angry man. Or so it started… Mick was angry. And determined to continue his solitary existence. He’d had a mate and he didn’t deserve, or want, another one. Until he looked into Renny’s eyes, and her soul….

Action, romance – it was all here in a read that was so much fun! I know, stalkers are not fun, but Mick and Renny and the other inhabitants of Alpha sure are! With their push/pull connection, and the danger surrounding them, this made for a highly entertaining read!

This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story. The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you

It was a fun read overall, I enjoyed the characters, the romance, and the story. Not my favorite by the author but a decent start to a series.

I recently got into PNR so by the time I got this book I felt I had read this story before. Sure, most PNR book follow the same storyline but that's just me. To be frank I liked it. It has everything you, if you're a huge pnr fan, would want. There's a lot of action & suspense as well which was got me invested in the story.

This book was a hidden surprise for me. It is a shifter book with a heavy dose of humor and a touch of feminism. Renny has been running from her coyote stalker and trying to get to Alphaville when she stumbles across the property of an alpha wolf just at the moment she needs saving. This book was steamy and set up a series set in the town.

I was seeing a lot of praise for this series in the countless reviews and decided to give this a try, but the author's writing and the characters were not really appealing to me.

Loved this book! Couldn't get enough of it. Reminds me of old-school Christine Warren and why I fell in love with the PNR genre.

Baby, I’m Howling For You is the first installment of the Alphaville series by Christina Warren.

Omg! I love Christina Warren every since I read her series The Other. Christina Warren is one of my top ten authors to read when it comes to supernatural creatures. She has a knack to capture her readers in a fantasy world that none of us want to leave. Or perhaps it’s just me…

Renny Landry is a wolf on the run from a stalker and his unappealing pack of killer coyotes. As she’s forced to leave her beloved job as a librarian she comes across the sanctuary of Alpha, Washington. A safe place for troubled shifters. However, when she first meets Mick. Whoo he’s certainly oozing dominance.

Can Renny find it in herself to actually settle down or will her hopes be shattered once more? Will Mick be able to give Renny the life she deserves?

I absolutely enjoyed and thrilled by the writing of Baby, I’m Howling For You . Christina Warren is amazing and her writing just keeps blowing me away.

Unfortunately this book just didn't work for me. I was a big fan of The Other's series that Christine Warren had, enjoying the mix of humor and paranormal romance. I think this had more of an element of romantic suspense which isn't my jam. Totally a me issue :)

I remembered trying one of Christine Warren's books from another series awhile back, and I didn't finish it. It just didn't grab me for one reason or another, and I wasn't really using goodreads at the time so I don't even recall what it was.

That aside, I'm glad it didn't stop me from requesting this one and giving this series a try. It reminded me of stories of the type with a town full of "others", and I do love a good ensemble cast. Was just the distraction I needed to help get me out of a reading funk.

I was so eager to dive into Baby, I'm Howling For You. It's been a while since I've picked up a new paranormal romance series. Overall it sounded like a fast paced read with plenty of romance, but when it came to the whole mating aspect and this particular world of shifters, I couldn't get into it. It's definitely cool that there is a town for outcast and misfit shifters. That's what made me want to read the story, but it wasn't really the focus of the story. I hardly felt like I actually made a visit to Alphaville. I'm on the fence about reading another story from the series, but I'm sure it will be on my radar for a while anyway.

I do not normally read shape-shifter stories, but the description of this book sounded pretty good, so I thought I would give it a try. I was right, definitely not my genre. Not only was there shape shifting, coyotes, wolves, lions and bears, but there were rather steamy descriptive sex scenes which are also not my thing. However, saying all that, if you enjoy this genre, you will probably love this book, in fact one reviewer said this was the perfect guilty pleasure book if you are in the mood for a paranormal romance with protective alpha males, steamy sex scenes and intense action.

Renny is on the run from her home in California. Hot on her trail are a pack of coyotes, trying to bring her back to their Alpha, Geoffrey Hilliard, who has been stalking her and trying to force her to become his mate. She is heading to Alphaville in Washington State, a safe place for shifters. When Renny's car runs out of gas she has no choice but to shift into her red wolf form, and run towards Alphaville. The pack catches up to her just outside town on the property of an Alpha wolf, Mick. He investigates the noise and finds an injured Renny. He drives away the coyotes, injuring one, and calls the sheriff for help. Of course, being half animal, the magnetism between Renny and Mick is apparent to everyone and their inevitable mating comes later in the story.

I did like the wide cast of characters and how loyal and friendly they were to Renny. It was interesting to see the various animals they shifted into. The adventure was up and down throughout the story. While trying to track down the Alpha Coyote Stalker, there were mistakes, injuries, and some rather disgusting animal behaviour. The romance scenes were not many, but again, they were pretty descriptive. I did like the plot of the story . I thought the author did a great job at keeping the story interesting. There was always a new danger right around the corner.

My rating for this book was difficult to decide on. The story was well written, but it is just not my thing. I am going to be honest and state that if you like paranormal romantic suspense add a star to my rating.

I love it when a new series begins by a favorite author and you find out that while it’s new you get to see some familiar characters and the world they live in isn’t really all that unfamiliar to you. That was the case with this new series by Christine Warren, the author of one of my favorite series, The Others, and when I picked up the prequel story (Something to Howl About) I returned to a world I felt comfortable in. The first full length novel takes us through the journey of two characters that have lived through some seriously bad shit in recent years, but now have a chance to come together and offer one another healing and a chance for a future. Renny is running for her life when she stumbles into Mick’s backyard fully expecting to die, one way or another, but he comes to her rescue, never realizing how important she truly would be to his future. Mick is hiding from his own past, having lost his mate, cleaned house on his own corrupt pack and run to Alphaville to live an isolated life as a lone wolf. Once he sees Renny he knows she’s trouble, but he can’t in good conscience let a female bleed to death in his yard. As Mick and the other badass protectors of Alphaville come together to get Renny out of her predicament, Mick becomes increasingly possessive and when he can’t resist a moment longer shows Renny how important she truly is to him. Renny suddenly finds herself with an insanely possessive alpha wolf in her life and there’s no getting rid of him, not that she actually wants to, but as danger closes in she knows that she might have to sacrifice her life to keep her mate safe and she has no problem making that choice. Mick and Renny’s story was packed with action, steamy as all get out, and full of fun plot twists keeping me engaged and enthralled through every page. The heat between these two lovers was off the charts and when they finally gave into it I thought my kindle was going to catch fire. Mick is a bit of an ass in the beginning, and even as he shows Renny how much he wants her, he doesn’t see how badly he is handling their new and intense relationship for most of the story. Thankfully Renny is plenty sassy and she-wolf enough to show her man how he is screwing up and get him back on the right track. I loved how strong she was, even in moments of intense vulnerability and need, she always made sure that the alpha personalities in the room didn’t disregard her opinions or treat her as if she didn’t have a say—girl power! I am really looking forward to the next story in the series which as I understand it is Renny’s friend Molly’s love story and I know that lioness is going to be kickass as she finds her mate. Another amazing series in the works for sure and I am dying waiting for the next release. Thanks Christine for your amazing imagination and for sharing it with us romance nuts.

This was just the right pace for a paranormal romance and exactly the type of engaging characters that I enjoy reading about.

3.5 stars. a pretty standard "small-town shifter life" book, but as a work of escapsism, it fills the bill! (Also, as a librarian....I find it really hard to believe that the old librarian couldn't find anyone for ten years. there are always many more librarians than jobs.)
