I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

What a delightful and charming PN romance. I adored Mick and his reluctant feeling at the appearance of Renny in his life. Having lost his first mate and being a wolf shifter, the chances of finding another mate, a million to one. He comes to his senses in a spectacular and hilarious way (no spoiler here!) I loved the dual POVs. This helps me to understand the characters and their actions from their side. This was wonderful and I look forward to more from this series.

If you enjoy PN romances, give this one a try. You will not regret it.

Calling all you Others fans! This is the first books of the series and feels like a spin-off of the Others series, which I absolutely adored! That being said, my review may be a ‘little’ biased, as she was my first author/series I fell in-love with.
Renny is on the run from a known stalker who has enlisted he pack to bring her back – kicking and screaming, if necessary. She barely makes it to the bordering town of Alpha, Washington, when she runs into Mick. Mick struggles to reconcile his wolf’s response to her and the knowledge he and his wolf already had a mate they loved and lost. Although it took me a while to warm to the characters, I ended up falling in love with them and their story. I look forward to reading more of Christine Warren’s books in this series.

A wolf shifter running from a stalker finds herself in Alpha, Washington, where she meets the reclusive alpha wolf destined to be her mate.

Renny Landry is on the run. A coyote shape-shifter and his violent pack of henchmen have been chasing her up and down the west coast, but she's finally made it to her destination: the town of Alpha, where shape-shifters of all kinds live and work together and look after each other. She can almost smell the town when she’s mauled by one of her pursuers, but wolf shifter Mick Fischer gets her out of a bind with his shotgun and intimidating nature. As Renny heals, she and her new friends work to get her to a point where she can start over. This includes figuring out why Mick, the new wolf in her life, refuses to acknowledge her as his mate. As Renny’s stalker gets increasingly desperate, vicious, and downright crazy, the shifters of Alpha work to ensure her safety as well as Mick’s, since he has a history with the man in question. The quirky combination of small-town life and mild suspense makes for a relatively satisfying read, but the disjointed structure leaves swaths of story untold. Mick and Renny are a graphic novelist and a librarian, and they represent their work in their personalities; he’s more of a shower, while she tends to tell. Additionally, Mick's “act first, ask questions later” mentality leads to some questionable interactions, and he and Renny never actually have any real, necessary follow-up conversation after significant things happen. This kind of communication issue leads to a few irreversible actions, and that puts a damper on the book. The most recent addition to Warren’s

This is the follow up to the prequel novella in this series. The prequel was awesome and I loved it. Unfortunately, I didn’t connect with the characters in this book. It was a DNF for me.

Despite my disappointment with Something to Howl About I approached this installment in a positive light. I hoped my tour of Alphaville would prove to be better this time around. As this was full length novel, I was looking forward to improved character development and an exciting and thrilling story. My expectations were met in some regard, however I felt my experience could have been better.

What The Story is About

Baby, I’m Howling for You features Renny Landry and Mick Fischer. Renny, a beta wolf shifter came to Alphaville seeking sanctuary from the coyote shifters who were pursuing her. As Alphaville is a town, which provides sanctuary for troubled shifters she saw it as the one place where she would be safe from the crazy coyote shifter and his minions. Unknown to her, the decision to seek sanctuary in this town would bring her in contact with an alpha wolf shifter who would make it his mission to protect her from the threat posed by her pursuers.

Mick Fischer came to Alphaville eight years ago to escape the pain of his past. However, the pain is as raw today as it was eight years ago and as a result he lived an isolated life. However, when Renny happened upon his property isolation would no longer be an option. His protective nature kicked into gear and his desire to protect a she-wolf in distress became his top priority.

What I liked.

The story started out with a bang. Fast-paced, adrenaline pumping, and it had me on edge of my seat for the whole chapter. Although the pace changed at the end of the first chapter, it did not take away from the story. There were some humorous moments, which made me smile from time to time.

I thought the author did an excellent job with plot thread involving Renny’s stalker. I found this aspect of the story engaging and I kept turning the pages as I had to know the outcome. The coyote shifters were crazy, arrogant and determined which made the threat to Renny serious dangerous.

It was a pleasure watching how the community members welcomed Renny into their fold. Each resident willingly played a part in keeping her safe, which reinforced Renny's belief that she came to the right place.

Renny is a character I enjoyed spending time with as she possessed the qualities of a strong female. Determined, brave, smart, independent and not afraid to stand up and fight her demons.

What I did not like

The attraction between the protagonists was instantaneous, which is a common factor for most books in the PNR genre. Despite the instant attraction Mick fought his feelings for Renny, which proved frustrating for her, as she recognized immediately he was her mate. Then, when she least expected it he mated with her, which confused her. I had a difficult time with this aspect of the story. Mick's actions made it difficult for me to buy into their relationship, which was further compounded by the fact that they never got to know each other, prior to their mating. Mick did not give Renny an option. He claimed and took, what he believed he was entitled to.

Mick is a character I had a hard time getting to know. First, I never got inside his head. Second, I found his actions rude and overbearing. I never got the feeling he loved Renny. It felt as if his need to protect was more from a sense of obligation, and a way of making up for not protecting his first mate.

Conclusion/Recommendation

This was an interesting read, but I felt it could have been better. I enjoyed the time spent with the quirky residents of Alphaville and I am curious to know their story. If you are a fan of the paranormal genre, then you can consider partaking in a journey to Alphaville

I was a huge fan of Christine Warren’s Others series. I remember reading them years ago. I tried the Gargoyle and it just wasn’t for me. But that was okay. Now that she was back with shifters, I was excited to give her a try again. I’m a huge fan of shifters, as most of you already know.

So, I started this book and really flew through the first 30ish% of the book. I really liked Renny. She is a red wolf shifter on the run from a stalker, a coyote alpha. He keeps sending his enforcers after her. She never agreed to date this guy and he isn’t taking “no” for an answer. She decides to run to Alpha, a town that is made up of shifters. At least then she won’t be putting humans in harm’s way.

Mick is a lone wolf and with a bad past. He had a mate once, that is until his grandfather and alpha decided she wasn’t purebred enough for him. His grandfather had his mate killed. That is when Mick went on a murderous rampage, and who could blame him. He expected to die after his mission was done. Most wolves don’t survive the loss of their mate, so he wasn’t expect to and he wasn’t happy about it. Now he’s just a bestselling graphic novel writer and illustrator. That is until a wolf collapses in his yard.

So I really enjoyed the characters living in Alpha. Zeke, the sheriff deputy and lion, along with his sister, Molly, the lioness and EMT, where a lot of fun. Then there is Marjory, the wanting to be retired librarian and wolverine shifter was really great. I even thought the villains, the coyotes, were great characters for the most part. They seemed exactly how you would expect a gang leader would stalk someone. And that was pretty much the way the alpha of the coyotes ran his pack.

My issue with the book is a few things. One: the relationship issues between the two. They have that mate, instalove thing going on. While that isn’t my favorite trope, I’ve read many versions of this trope that didn’t bother me. I’ve even read some that the shifters tried to fight that pull. But this one, just rubbed me the wrong way. Mick fought it tooth and nail. I don’t blame him, it must’ve been hard to lose his first mate and survive it. But then less than 24 hours later he’s biting her and mating her without her permission. He takes her back to his cabin and they continue this mating dance, where she returns the mating bite. Then there is enough sex to last a year. I was sore just reading it.

Two: now that they’re mated, the issue with both of their pasts are out in the open. You would things would get better, right? Wrong. Mick is still so tight lipped it is annoying. He’s all about sex, but shows her nothing outside of sex. She tries to get him to talk and he just clams up more. She does make some headway, but it isn’t easy for her.

Three: He goes all alpha male on her, constantly. She pushes back and even mentions that she understand that she is in danger and needs to be protected. She just wants to be part of the conversation and decision making. I feel like she is very reasonable and that Mick just can’t help himself. He is very worried that Renny will go the way of his first mate. While, I can understand his concern, still. When he said he wanted to lock her in a cell with half the sheriff’s department standing guard while he goes out with the other half to hunt down the coyotes, that was when I had decided that enough was enough. She had tried to reason with him and wasn’t at all trying to put herself in danger, but I would have to put a stop at some point. So I decided that I had read enough. I was tired of reading her being treated that way.

I have to say that I liked the characters, except for Mick. He was just too alpha for me. He needed to work with her, not overtop of her. He was very caveman. I really enjoyed the time with the others though. I wish I spent more time with them.

I even liked the suspense part of the story. I thought the coyotes made great villains. I liked the stalker aspect (though I never want to be on the receiving end of this kind of crazy). I wish there was more of this in the story.

So, when the story focused on the suspense and Renny trying to get her life back together, I really enjoyed it. The romance, though, was a big fail for me. I’m trying to remember if the Others series was this overly alpha. I remember some pretty alpha males, but I thought I remembered the women getting through to them and not being hampered or ignored the way Renny was.

WELCOME TO ALPHAVILLE, where the she-wolves and alpha-males play. . .for keeps.

Renny Landry is a wolf on the run. Pursued by a shapeshifting stalker and his slobbering pack of killer coyotes, she is forced to flee her job as a librarian to find sanctuary in the wooded hills of Alpha, Washington. A well-secluded safe space for troubled shifters, Alpha is Renny’s last hope. But the first person she meets there is a gorgeous alpha male with fiery eyes, fierce tattoos, and one ferocious appetite—for her…

Mick Fischer thought he left his past behind when he moved to Alpha. But fate has a way of biting him in the tail when a female wolf shows up on his property. Wounded, desperate—and disarmingly hot—Renny brings out the snarling, protective alpha beast in Mick like no other woman he’s known. Can these two haunted, hunted wolves manage to mate for life…even as the deadliest past demons howl at their heels?

* * * * *

I don't know why but I am a sucker for stories about small towns in the Pacific Northwest especially when the folks in the town don't quite fit the stereotype of small townsfolk. The inhabitants of Alpha definitely fit that description. Alpha Washington is tale that shifters tell each other, a place where they will fit in.

It's been a few years since I have stumbled across one of Ms Warren's books and I am berating myself for that because her books are just that good. I became immediately engaged with the story as it opens with Renny on the run for her life. And the characters are so real that they just seem to jump off the page. And the dialogue is sharp, and at times had me laughing hard enough that my ribs hurt. This book reminded me why I fell in love with both paranormal romances and romantic suspenses.

I do highly recommend this book to any of my readers who enjoy the paranormal. There is enough suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat and characters that are easy to connect with. And as a bonus, this is the first book in what looks to be a series well worth following.

This book was really good. I liked that although there were so many reasons they should be together it was not an instant romance but something that had to grow and build into something substantial.

Actually more like 4.5 stars...

Christine Warren is a new-to-me author so I didn't know what to expect but the romance stories about wolves always fascinates me so I picked this one. Thankfully the author didn't disappoint. My fascination with wolves and about their romance still fascinates me. I love it.
Though Ms. Warren broke a rule in here. We all know about wolves having but one mate for the rest of their lives and that's really what I liked best in their romance. But it seems Mick, our alpha wolf, has two and it almost bothered me at first. Though he met his 2nd mate, Renny, his first wife have already been dead for 8 years. Without revealing too much, I can say that the author handled the storyline well that I got over quickly with the fact that there's almost a love triangle in this novel. (the reason why I can't give this one 5 stars)

The romance between Mick and Renny is at its best with all the possessiveness and even the push and pull because of Mick. Renny's problem being hunted, which is the reason why she's gone to Alphaville, added more to the tension of the story. It was really good. Now, I'm eager to read the next books in this series and other books by Ms. Warren as well.

This author does paranormal romance just right. Plenty of page-turning action along with some secondary characters I look forward to seeing again. Mick and Renny are perfect for each other in every way. It was so much fun reading about these wolves along with some other shifters. This is the first book to kick off the series of Alphaville. I can't wait to see what's in store for us next.

Christine Warren starts a new series with Baby, I'm Howling for You. Wolf shifter Renny flees an abusive coyote shifter who is stalking her. She seeks sanctuary in Alpha and discovers her wolf shifter mate. Lots of action and romance.

Baby, I’m Howling For You is a brilliantly epic story that will delight and entrance readers as they fall in love with this fantastic world full of wonderfully unforgettable characters. If paranormal romance is your go to genre for a fun escape then this book is the one that you want to read. It is a fabulous story that walks you through this mysterious new world of shifters who have no packs but each other for belonging and friendship. Warren takes readers on a wild, action-packed journey that will leave them breathless and begging for more.

Mick knew he already had his happiness and then lost it. What he doesn’t understand is how he is still alive when his mate is dead. Normally, when one mate died the other passed shortly after from the deep grief and desire to be together forever. While he wrestles with his purpose, he continues to put one foot in front of the other. Renny is running for her life. Every time she tried to set down roots, her life is cruelly turned upside down by the same person. In her heart, she knows she will be safe if only she can read Alphaville, the only safe haven for shifters who have no pack to protect them. When she makes it there by the skin of her back, she finds shelter, help, and so much more than she ever bargained for. Can Mick accept his new destiny when it violently shatters his peaceful domain? Will Renny find her place of safety that she hoped she would find in Alphaville?

Renny is a tough, resilient woman who left me smiling when she refuses to allow others to fight her battles. She is determined to not bring danger into her new community and put her friends in the line of fire. Her heart is grateful with the help her new friends insist on giving her, but its Mick that shatters her heart and transforms it into something she never dared hope for. Mick is an alpha through and through, and when it comes to his heart he is just as fierce and obstinate. He fights for his heart with everything in him, and shows Renny that when life throws unexpected gifts your way, you should open yourself completely to them instead of pushing them away.

Christine Warren is an incredibly talented author who has shown me how a uniquely exquisite love story painstakingly brought to life can wield its worlds of power and passion to conquer every part of my heart. I love when a story becomes larger than life and consumes my heart and mind whole. This story did that and so much more. I lost myself to the mystery, the passion, and the undying hope that resounded through every word and emotion that flowed from the pages. This is paranormal romance at its best! Do not miss this author’s books as you will never know the masterpieces that you are missing out on.

I enjoyed the story overall. I really loved the world building and the secondary characters. Alphaville and its inhabitants are vacation worthy. I also liked the stalking premise. A thing that happens for real and that women fear. That harrassment and hounding with a shifter twist.

What I didn’t enjoy were many things about the leads. I liked Renny in general, but her arguing at every turn for any security measures got old fast. She ran to Alphaville to be safe, but was upset when any safety measures were brought up. I can’t stand instalove, and I was grateful that their bond was explained as mostly metaphysical. But Renny’s need for Mick to declare his love was annoying. By the end of the book a total of 4 weeks had passed. The majority of the time they spent together over the course of those weeks was having sex. Expecting a man who barely knows anything about you to be madly in love with you after a matter of days was stupid. I also hate the cliche of “I’ve loved before, but not like this”. Mick loved his former mate, so much so that he was willing to tear the world apart to avenge her. It’s okay for him to have loved his former mate a woman he actually knew as much as he now magically loved Renny. He avenged then mourned his wife for a decade. It wasn’t necessary for him to be dismissive of what they had to justify falling for Renny. It would’ve been nicer if the message had been it’s okay to love again, instead of my old love wasn’t that great anyway.

That being said I am looking forward to the next book.

Having read Something to Howl About Book #0.5 of this Alphaville Series I was curious to see if this series would continue to expand in richness. I was not disappointed in this book as it expanded on the characters from the previous book.

Renny's character starts out in a dramatic way encouraging the reader to fall in love with her life threatening situation. It isn't hard to like her and want a better life for her. Her character expands throughout the story and you will find a need for the ending of the stalker behind her fear.

Mick's character is a little harder to get your head around. He's everything a woman would want but still his character felt elusive creating in this reader a desire to have him be a little bit more approachable. But that being said he was portrayed exactly as the author intended and the reader will want to know his back history which created who he was in the present day.

All in all this is a quick easy read but I would of like a little more depth to the characters. For that reason I give this 4 STARS.

I have read several books from Christine Warren Others series and really enjoyed them, I was hoping to enjoy this one, but the sad fact is I couldn’t finish it. This is the first time I am writing a review on a book I never finished reading, but per Netgalley I have to rate the book and add links before I submit the review so, please keep in mind I only read half of the book something major could have happened that turned the whole book into greatness after I stopped reading.

I am all for the whole fated mates, but dang Mick totally pulls off the mating thing in the first few chapters and by the way, he did it just totally turned me off. As a reader, you want to feel the sparks fly off the pages and I never got this with these two even after their matting.
As I kept reading and finding these large shifters getting beaten by a pack of small coyotes I had enough and went on to another book.
I enjoyed the world set up and the suspense to the story, but I couldn’t accept the fact that a pack of coyotes beating these larger alphas, nope, totally not right with me even as a pack.

Can these two haunted, hunted wolves manage to mate for life…even as the deadliest past demons howl at their heels?

My Thoughts:
I have to say this was a howling good time! Sorry I couldn’t help myself! I really enjoyed this paranormal romance and the author’s writing style laced with humor, snark, it’s action packed, good world building, awesome secondary characters and leading characters with a lot of substance to them.

Renny is a on the run, being stalked and terrorized by another alpha from a coyote pack from her home in California. Renny has spurned his advances many times, but he won’t take no for an answer. He is resorting to have his pack chase her across state lines. Renny is trying to get to Alpha, Washington to try and make a new life for herself. Little did she know, she was being driven to the arms of her mate!

Mick has a tragic back story and he lives alone. He is a wolf shifter and they mate for life. His wife died eight years ago and by all accounts, he should have died too, since wolves usually can’t live long without their mates. He is just biding his time to die or so he thinks. Mick is a rather famous graphic novelist; he not only writes them, he illustrates them. He has made a decent life for himself in Alpha, coming from California shortly after his wife died. He keeps to himself and is readily accepted for the cranky man that he is. Then one night he hears coyote yips that sound like they are in distress and it is too close for comfort. Trespassers on his land. He goes outside of his cabin and out of the woods shoots a coyote and she is badly injured. She is being chased by another coyote and he looked like he was going to finish the job he started. Mick shot him. He didn’t kill him, just injured him and he took off. Mick brought her to his cabin and called the deputy to come and take his statement. The deputy also brought along his paramedic sister and the town mayor. Now the fun begins!

I absolutely was engrossed in this book! It was a fun read and I loved the characters. There is a lot going on to keep me more than hooked! I got a little more of Alpha’s (referred to as Alphaville) story and learned more about the secondary characters that I met in Something to Howl About. The story is fast paced, and it is fun to watch Mick struggle with his feelings for Renny. They have great chemistry and the banter between them is so entertaining. The secondary characters are also hilarious! I don’t want to give anything away, as this book needs to be read and enjoyed.

If you love paranormal romance and shifters, then give this book a try. It really is a great read and I can’t wait for more of Alphaville and the wonderful characters that live there!
