The world the author created and the secondary characters in this story were interesting. It kept my attention and will make readers want to snag the next book. I know I want to. The story was enjoyable and I definitely cheered for Mick and Renny, but holy cow that was quick. A little more build up would have gone a long way. My only other annoyance was the fact that the word mate was thrown around quite a bit in a short period of time. However, this was still a page turner for me. You get your alpha wolf, sassy female, and their budding romance. It’s got all the components you’d expect from a shifter romance read. I’m definitely interested to see where the author takes this world and to see the writings I’ve missed up till now. A review copy was provided in exchange for an honest review. Enjoy!

Three words guys: Give. Me. More. Baby, I’m Howling for You is the first book in a new shifter series written by the proficient Christine Warren and wow. It was a whirlwind of action, romance and that all too strong and delightfully annoying mate call.

Renny is on the run. And not from just any old stalker, but from a crazy-obsessed shifter with a whole pack at his disposal. She’s literally thirteen miles from Alphaville, a place she hopes will be her salvation, when this story kicks off and things get hairy fast, in more ways than one.

Written in the third person, we experience the story from the point of view of the two main characters: Renny and Mick. Renny, we learn, used to be a sweet librarian, until she moved to the wrong town and attracted the attention of a very possessive coyote shifter. She’s been running from him every since; at least until the moment she collapses at Mick’s feet. Over the course of the story, we watch her come out of the shell she’s had to put herself in as she struggled to survive under the force of her stalker’s obsession.

Mick, on the other hand, is a self-made recluse. He would have liked for nothing more than to continue living his quiet existence on the outskirts of Alphaville but that ends the night he smelled another wolf shifter and then coyote shifters trespass on his territory. Of course, Renny’s arrival shakes up his whole world and not just because he has to involve local law enforcement, paramedics and the mayor when she arrives but because he has to come to terms with his wolf’s desire for her to stay.

Baby, I’m Howling for You is an amazing shifter romance, which serves to highlight the strength of the mate call and gives the perfect example of what two shifters will do to keep the love they never thought they’d get to have. It takes place in an amazing town: Alphaville; which is home and haven to a hodgepodge of shifters, all with their own stories to tell. It’s also full of a cast of amazing characters such mayor Jaegar, and Zeke and Molly Buchanon, who all come together to not only support Renny in establishing a life in Alphaville but also in attaining liberation from her stalker.

While, Baby I’m Howling for You may not have the most beautiful cover, it is definitely eye-catching and the blurb makes up for any issues anyone might have with the cover. This cover would peak my interest but the blurb would definitely keep it. From beginning to end, I was caught up in the adventure and excitement of the story and romance blossoming between Renny and Mick. With a cast of well developed characters, a well developed world and amazing dialogue, I really felt like I was a part of the story.

Overall, Baby I’m Howling for You was an amazing read and has single-handedly been the cause of me seeking out more shifter novels for my enjoyment. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes paranormal romances, urban fantasies, shifter stories and stories featuring that ever encompassing mate bond between shifters and I would definitely purchase this book for a friend.

Rating Conclusion

Baby, I’m Howling for You earns a solid 5 out of 5 stars from me. It has literally set the bar for shifter novels for me from here onwards. Areas that felt a little off for me included the cover, which while an eye-grabber, is kind of just there. Otherwise I really loved the story and loved the characters.

Trigger warnings: attempted rape, sexual assault, death of significant other (in past), stalking

Besides the prequel novella to this series, this is the first Christine Warren novel I've read.  While the prequel gives a little bit of extra backstory, you can read this as a standalone without any problems.

The story started out with the action - Renny's car running out of gas miles from the town of Alpha, and her leading the pursuing coyotes in a chase in (hopefully) the right direction.  The initial scenes got me hooked, with lots of interesting characters, including a grumpy alpha wolf, and lots of humor, but then, unfortunately, it petered out.

“In the space of a week she’d gone from fearing for her life and struggling to survive on the run, to having a home and a mate and now the job she’d been dreaming of since she was a child."

Overall, this is an average destined mates romance, with the overly possessive and protective male and the female in danger.  Renny and Mick's relationship gave me whiplash.  They literally went from Mick being in complete denial about their mating to jumping headfirst into bed together.  I never really got a sense of love from them, just lust.  I would've liked to see more of them falling in love and getting to know each other, rather than just going at it like rabbits.  For example, at one point, Renny is worried because she's falling in love with him and he hasn't said anything about his feelings.  An older woman counsels her that sometimes men show their love through actions instead of words (eye roll).  So when the bad guy destroys their bedroom, Mick arranges for it to be fully redecorated (in a day!) using furniture Renny had bought when she thought she'd be sharing an apartment with her friend.  Sid note: I've refinished furniture before, and it takes much longer than a day for things to be stripped, sanded and repainted.  Yes, this is a weird thing to fixate on in a book about werewolves, but it was just such an odd detail to be off on.  Back to my point - Renny takes this as a sign that Mick actually cares about her, partly because of much money he must've spent (?!).  To me, it looked like a grand gesture, but it was also just another example of Mick making decisions for her without her consultation.

“'Whatever I wanted before is gone. I know I did everything I could to pretend you meant nothing to me, but I think I can stop now, because that ship hasn’t just sailed, it’s hit an iceberg and been lost at sea. You are my mate. So, from here on out, we’re going to forget about my idiocy and move forward together. Deal?'
Her lips twitched. 'Sounds pretty convenient for you, if you ask me. I just pretend you didn’t treat me like a leper for the first eighteen hours of our acquaintance, and you get all the benefits of having a mate without even having to work for it?'
He let himself grin. 'Sounds good to me.'”

As for other cons, I felt like the characterization was practically nonexistent.  They're both wolf shifters, Renny's a librarian and Mick writes graphic novels and.... that's pretty much it.  Mick, at least, had a pretty interesting back story, and while it factored into the main story, it felt like it only scratched the surface of the emotional depth possible.  I liked the secondary characters (especially Molly and her brother Zeke) and the idea of this town filled with misfit shapeshifters.

It's fine - it just felt like the same old thing I've read before, with no new insights to offer.  So if you're a big fan of shifter insta-love stories, you'll probably like this, but, for me, it fell flat.

I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I've really enjoyed previous books from this author. I found this book had less humour than earlier titles. The central relationship didn't develop enough for me.

Renny is on the run from an unwanted stalker. She's trying her best to the haven of Alpha (Alphaville). It's suppose to be a sanctuary for shifters who are on the run or just need help in some way. She doesn't quite make it to town but, fortunately for her, she ends up in the yard belonging to Mick, a wolf shifter who's hiding out and dealing (or maybe not) with the losses in his life. He's not sure he wants Renny in his life but Fate may have other plans for them.
I loved this first "full" book in this new series from Christine Warren. I thought it was interesting. I loved the characters, not just Mick and Renny, but everyone in the whole town, the storyline, and the heat level. It reminded me of why I used to devour the writers The Others series (and made me want to go back and re-read them all). I have actually re-read this book twice now...and thinking about reading it again.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley

This book was really good! I haven't read a paranormal/werewolf story for a few years and I have never read a story by this author so it was surprising how fast I got into the story. The male was protective but learned not to go too far. Can't wait for the next one.

I really liked the first read in this new shifter series. Renny is on the run and heads to Alphaville in hopes of hiding out. Mick lives in Alphaville still coping with the grief he has for his murdered mate. Renny makes it to Alphaville but is injured when she awakes Mick is there along with Molly, Zeke and Jager. They agree to help her but as they grow closer and even though they fight it Mick and Renny are mates. Can Mick protect her? This is a fast paced read with great characters, steamy chemistry and plenty of drama and suspense. I was hooked from beginning to end. Looking forward to more in the series.

Christine Warren always writes wonderful shifter novels. This new book is another entry in the Alphaville Series; it’s best to read the other titles in the series since most of the characters are involved in this book. We have the story of Renny and Mick, and the villain coyotes. Lots of action! I highly recommend.

A bigot who gets his comeuppance.
A stalker who is gets what he deserves and two shifters who get their HEA

Remmy is a red wolf shifter/librarian who is being stalked by a pack of coyotes. She stumbles, injured onto Mick’s property. Mick is a grey wolf shifter/graphic artist who is burying his sorrow of his lost mate for 8 years. They meet, mate and dispose of the bad coyotes. I love the citizens of Alpha, Washington. They are a mis-matched group of shifters who ban together to form their own family.

Favorite quotes:
“Although Alpha is a small town, so you’d be wise to give up any expectations of privacy right now and save yourself some headaches.”

“...forget Zumba; mortal combat was apparently the true path to physical fitness.”

My first 5 star read of the year. I will be reading more Christine Warren.

Well, I am sincerely pleased to announce that once again, Christine Warren has brought her fabulous world to life with well written words that paint vivid images that makes readers feel as if they are part of the story. The characters are strong, captivating and grab the reader’s attention right from the start and in this case, Renny and Mick draw readers into an emotionally turbulent romance that is full of heat and spice and you can practically feel the chemistry between them as it flies from the pages.

The fast paced plot is full of thrills and suspense that keep readers on the edge of their seat while a bad alpha keeps the danger coming as he has fixated on Renny and then the author adds a few surprising twists to keep readers guessing. This story has it all with lots of romance, suspense, heat, great dialogue that makes it easy for the readers to relate to the characters and feel as if they really come to life and let me tell you the alpha males are super sexy and they are definitely playing for keeps, of course I don’t mind because they can certainly keep me.

Another great series from Christine Warren, which isn’t surprising since I love her other books. This book starts off with plenty of excitement and I was glued to the pages from very first one. I loved Alphaville and there is some really interesting characters that live there, so I can’t wait to visit again.

Though I was excited to start the series,it was just an okay read for me. I just could not seem to immerse in this story and connect to these two. I found that I kept putting the book down, wanting to find something else to read. This story was written well, it just didn't pull me in.

I really enjoyed this first book in Christine Warren's new series. I loved Renny, she's a bad ass. Mick is very stubborn to begin with but once he gets over that there is no stopping him. I t was great to see the town come together and help Renny and welcome her so completely. I can't wait for the next book to come out.

If I thought that my love for supernatural romances had waned..I was so wrong! Christine Warren is back with a new spin-off series to her infamous Others romances, Alphaville. A quaint, pacific northwestern town where shifters of all kinds gather. The outcasts, the lonely, the downtrodden and the forgotten are all welcomed.

Renny's on the run, literally. She's being chased by a pack of coyotes who are out for blood and her haven is Alphaville. The whispered about town were cast-outs can seek refuge is just within her grasp when the attack on her hits. Or so she thinks. She's landed on another wolf's territory and he doesn't take kindly to attacks on his property. Say hello to sexy alpha wolf Mick. He can't deny the bond between himself and the she-wolf the moment he sets eyes on her. And when he learns of her tragic story and her barely-there escapes from the clutches of a mad-coyote shifter, his instincts kick in.

Supernatural romances have such a base quality to them. The animal instincts of the shifters allows for a more guttural and visceral reaction when it comes to hero and heroine. And there's something about that that I love so much. Not only does this new series have some seriously sexy mating scenes (WHEW!), there is non-stop action. From the moment Renny's paws hit MIck's territory down to the battle against her coyote stalker there's a thrilling pace made to keep readers intrigued. Supernatural romance lovers add this one to your TBR lists now!

I had wanted to read Warren’s The Others series for quite some time, but honestly, I didn’t have the time to catch up on all fifteen releases. Enter in Baby, I’m Howling for You. Set in the same world as Warren’s The Others series, but safe enough for those of us new to Warren’s works, not only was this first book in Warren’s Alphaville series a five-star read, but it was so entertaining and bingeable (I read in in one day) that I’m convinced it would be worth it for me to read all of those fifteen previous books.

I enjoy a good paranormal romance, but honestly, Baby, I'm howling For You was FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC! Chalk full of adventure, action, suspense, wonderfully steamy romance, this book had me utterly lost and forgetting about time. I like a good hero and heroine, but I feel Renny and Mick are stupendous characters. They have so many secrets and depth to them and their personalities meshed well with one another and the chemistry was hot, heavy and breathtaking.

This felt like such a energetic and heart galloping story. Exciting and thrilling rolled into a sizzling romance made this story irresistible. I HIGHLY recommend this book to paranormal romance lovers...you will bite into this and BEG for more!

I give this a STEAMY AND EXCITING FIVE SHOOTING STARS!!

Baby, I'm Howling for You is the perfect book if you are in the mood for a guilty pleasure paranormal romance. This book was a book filled with protective alpha males, steamy sex scenes, and intense action.

One of the things I really enjoyed about this book was the characters. I really liked the wide cast of characters and how developed they were. The author clearly really cares for all of the characters, and that love was showcased throughout the story. I cannot wait to read more about this eclectic group of people. I also really enjoyed the plot of this story! I thought the author did a great job at keeping the story interesting. There was always a new danger right around the corner. The intense action moments always had me on the edge of my seat!

The romance between Renny and Mick was extremely sexy and passionate. The author did a great job developing intense chemistry between the two characters. The chemistry between Renny and Mick was palpable! I really enjoyed watching their relationship develop, even if it was a little fast paced and had insta-love vibes. I would have liked to see it develop even more, but I am hoping that I will get more development throughout the rest of the series! I think Renny and Mick are a wonderful couple and I cannot wait to see what happens next for them!

The main issue I had with this book was that it seemed like it was a little dense. I felt the book was a bit too descriptive which made this book have a heavy feel to it at times. There were moments when I lost interest due to that. However, I did think the book was fast-paced and addictive as a whole.

Overall, this was a fun and addictive paranormal romance! If you are looking for sexy shifter romance, then this is the book for you!

This book didn't catch my interest. Not because it wasn't good but because I just wasn't in the mood at the time to read this kind of book. I will try again in the future.

This is the first full length book in the Alphaville series and if this is any indication of the rest of the series, I can't wait for more. This book had a bit of everything from a tense chase scene to steamy romance and everything in between! Alphaville is full of quirky characters, all of which are shifters. While Renny thought that Alphaville could be just the sanctuary she needed to escape her dangerous past, she had no idea it would make such an impact on her future when she met her fated, albeit reluctantly so, mate, Mick. The gruff, reclusive Mick and Renny, the outgoing librarian, make a terrific couple.

Wow where to begin with book one in this fascinating series.
We get a young woman running for her life is what we get. She has a stalker and not in a good way at all. Her goal? Get to Alpha Washington.

Mike carries the past with him but he has made some what of a life for himself in Alphaville.
He thought everything was ok up until a female red shifter is struggling to stay alive on his front stoop.

This book is wickedly good, we get intense action and suspense and the hotness factor sizzles. I enjoyed it very much.
