Baby, I'm Howling For You kicks off Warren's new Alphaville series set in a far away corner of her Other's/Fixed world.
I liked this for the most part, my major problem was I just have a personal issues with the foundation of the story - the leading lady wolf-coyote hybrid shifter,Rennie, is being stalked by an evil alpha and his equally bad henchmen who want to hurt, rape and then kill her. This is a setup destined to keep pulling me out of the romance, and especially when the wolfshifter leading man goes all alpha possessive of her when she should be pretty traumatized by her time on the run and in peril. Another small nit, is that the shifters in this world are the love at first sniff kind and, even though the leading wolf has his own issues, the pheromones do all the work. What I did like: I liked Rennie, she was spunky and excited about her new life and the setup for the rest of the series had some supporting characters who are promising.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for providing me with an e-ARC to read and review. "Baby, I'm Howling For You" is set to be released January 30, 2018.

Warning: This book contains explicit romantic scenes and language. For mature readers only. Reader discretion advised.

This was the shifter book I didn't know I had been missing from my life. I absolutely LOVED "Baby, I'm Howling For You."

First off, I fell head over heels over the fact that Renny is a librarian and Mick is a graphic novelist. *insert book-nerdish swoon* That alone deserves all the stars in the world. But of course, that was the cherry atop the sundae for my love of these two characters.

Renny is such a kind individual and so strong throughout all her attempts to have a normal life. Plus she's not afraid to put her foot down against Mick's efforts to protect her. Mick - I feel for the guy. His past is too a rough one. What he struggles to overcome I have not really seen much of in shifter/paranormal/supernatural type books, so I was more invested in the story.

Readers will additionally love all the other characters, each with their own unique charms, as well as the diverse sanctuary that is Alpha, Washington.

Then there were the truckload's worth of funny moments and real-world references throughout the entire book. I lived for those moments and was laughing aloud on more than one occasion.

Renny's last name threw me off for the first couple of chapter. I saw the words "Renny Landry" but my mind read it as "Renny Laundry." I have no idea why. I also didn't care for the multiple rehashing ad nauseam of details about the conflict. But other than those things, this was a perfectly entertaining beginning of something wonderful.

It's been so long since I've read a book by Christine Warren. The story? On point. The characters? Loved them. The setting? A fictional home away from home. The romance? As sizzling as bacon cooking in a frying pan. I will definitely be reading the next book in this series, "Your Lion Eyes."

Renny doesn't get many moments of peace. But she has found her mate

A very suspenseful book, but still lots of other good stuff going on.
I was very wrapped up in this book, I hated having to put it down.
I would like to read more about this group of "misfits". Alphaville is a wonderful town, where shifters can go when they have no where else to go. The residents take care of one another.

Renny and Mick didn't get off to a great start, even though they both knew they were mates. But no matter what Mick didn't want Renny away from him.
Read to find out how past and present all collide.

Good PNR. I liked the intro novella and it,was nice to visit Alphaville again. For me the first half of the book was great; interesting story, good characters, plenty of action. But the second half lagged a little. There was plenty of steam, but not enough story. Overall a fun read.

Renny Landry is on the run and she knows just where she is going. Somewhere where a lone wolf shifter on the run may have a chance of a brand new life: Alphaville. Alphaville is supposed to be a town where a shifter can find sanctuary no matter what animal they turn into and that's exactly what Renny needs right now; sanctuary. From the crazy stalker coyote shifter who believes she belongs to him and if he can't have her, no one can. Mick is escaping from his past in Alphaville, unlike most wold shifters he didn't follow his mate when she died, he just can't figure out why. Until a half dead red wolf shifter is chased to his door, then his instincts know; she's his.

A brand new series from Christine Warren? I was definitely going to be trying it out. Warren's brand of PNR normally involves a lot of fun, a lot of laughs and some hunky heroes. However, much to my dismay Baby, I'm Howling For You just didn't hit the spot for me. I wanted it to, I love the idea of a town full of different shifters, each their for their own secret reasons, which are there to be discovered throughout the series.

I found that this book just didn't hold my interest. I was bored. The story line was predictable and although this is something that I don't usually mind, in romance most stories are predictable, I have to at least enjoy the ride, even when I know where it is going. Instead I found my mind wandering as I read, until by 50% I realised I was skim reading and not paying much attention. I didn't need to, I knew what was going to happen.

When a story doesn't hold much interest me, it's then the characters that have to carry my interest forward and again this just didn't happen. I liked Renny well enough but she didn't have enough charisma to pull me through the book. Mick the alpha wolf shifter, our hot hero...meh. The problem was was that they were just okay, but ultimately forgettable. This book didn't pull me in, I wasn't intrigued by any of the characters Warren presented and I feel like in a few weeks time I will barely remember I have read this book at all.

This wasn't a hit for me and I doubt I will continue with the series, there was just nothing in there wither character or story-wise that interested me enough to read further on.

I’ve always found that while Christine Warren’s novels are a bit hit or miss, they’re always a relaxing read, more or less. Her latest paranormal romance series called Alphaville starts out here, in Baby, I’m Howling for You. And yes, I agree that the name is pretty corny. But I figured it was worth a shot, especially because the preliminary reviews made it look good, and I’ve enjoyed some of her work in the past.
Renny is a red wolf shifter on the run. From what, you ask? An obsessive stalker who also happens to be the alpha of a pack of coyotes. Now, one would think in a fight between wolves and coyotes the wolf should win, right? Well consider these little tidbits: Renny is a red wolf, IE a smaller species, and she’s also outnumbered. That’s why she’s running to Alphaville (again, horrible name, I know) where all forms of shifters are welcome. With any luck she can find a safe space to live while she deals with these monsters. Once there though, Renny ends up getting more than she bargained for.
Warnings first: As mentioned above, Renny is being stalked by a seriously deranged man. He doesn’t care about consent or stalking laws or any of that. He wants to have his way with Renny and then murder her, since she denied him (and his poor ego couldn’t handle that, apparently). Warren dances around actually saying what’s going on here, rarely coming out right and saying it, but it’s still pretty obvious what is going on here. The coyote pack hunt her pretty relentlessly, and don’t really seem to care if they kill her by mistake. This whole series of events may make some readers really uncomfortable, so please be aware of it.
As far as light and quick reads go, this one wasn’t too bad. For those readers that like to occasionally dip their does in the romance world (while sticking pretty heavily to the paranormal part), this isn’t a bad series. I do think that dedicated romance fans might feel let down with the romance plot, as there isn’t a lot of buildup or tension in that department (but I could be wrong – romance isn’t me preferred read here).
The main character, Renny, has a pretty interesting name and on the whole is a well-rounded person. She’s stubborn, a book lover (bonus points for that), and driven to finding her own way in life. There were some points countered others though. Renny kept telling us that she was more than capable of taking on a coyote, as long as it was one on one, but every time she was presented with that opportunity she ended up either losing the fight or running from it. It left me feeling like she really was a female that needed to be protected by her mate, since that’s essentially what happened during every major altercation in this book. Which is a bit disappointing, to be honest.
I wish we had more of a chance to see Alphaville – yes, many characters are introduced from that town (whom presumably may become a focus in later novels), but I still feel like there was a lot to explore in that area. For example, I would have loved to see more about how all the different shifters cooperate in the down, and how the hierarchy (if there even is one) works.
I can’t say for certain that I’d read the rest of the Alphaville series. I think I’d be tempted to try them, depending on the description and how they seemed. Hopefully they’d hold up a bit better than the first novel.

Baby, I’m Howling For You by Christine Warren is the 1st book in her new Alphaville series. Having enjoyed the novella (Something to Howl About) to open this series, I looked forward to reading this one, and I am happy to say this series is already a winner.

Renny Landry is our heroine, and a wolf shifter on the run. Renny has a stalker, who is the leader of a coyote shapeshifer pack, and no matter where she goes, they always find her. Her last hope is to get to Alpha, populated by various species of problem or damaged shifters. Before Renny can get there, she is attacked by some of the members of the coyote pack, but lucky for her, someone comes to her rescue.

Mick Fischer, our hero, moved to Alphaville years before after his mate was murdered. He still grieves for his deceased mate, and doesn’t understand why he is still alive, since mates usually follow one another.
When Renny regains conscious, she opens her eyes to 4 people staring at her. Mick, Molly (paramedic), Jaegar (the mayor) and Zeke (local deputy, and Molly’s brother). She tells them who attacked her, and why she comes to Alphaville. Though they know the stalkers will follow her here, they all agree to help her and offer her protection. She stays in Mick’s cabin just overnight to recuperate, and Molly will help her, with clothes and sharing an apartment. But before that, Mick’s wolf keeps telling him she is his mate. Mick brushes him off, and says he already had his mate. When Renny begins to feel better, she senses her strong attraction to Mick, and also knows he is her mate. But when she tries to mention that, Mick ignores her.

When Renny moves to town, she and Molly will be attacked by the coyote pack members, with Mick, Zeke and others coming to their rescue. Mick is determined he will bring her back to his cabin to protect her, and in a short time, though he doesn’t understand this, he starts falling hard for Renny, and accepts that his wolf is right…she is his mate. But Renny, though she wants Mick, acts distant a bit, because of how he brushed her off earlier. Of course, that won’t last, especially with her staying in his cabin. The chemistry between them was sizzling hot, and they truly did make a great couple. But first they need to find a way to stay alive and stop the coyotes.

Geoffrey is the leader of the coyote pack, and he is insanely obsessed with Renny. She has turned him down a number of times, but he refuses to let go, and continues to attack. Mick remembers Geoffrey, who happened to be his ex mate’s brother. Mick knows Geoffrey is not only crazy, and but very dangerous.
What follows is an exciting, at times tense paranormal story that was fun, and very steamy. There were so many dangerous situations that held my breath a few times, wondering if they will survive. There was a number of intense edges of your seat moments, with lots of action. I also like the chemistry between Renny and Mick. In Baby, I’m Howling for You About, we meet some excellent characters that I would love for them to have their own books, such as Zeke and Molly, who were great. There is a lot of potential in this series, as we have different types of shifters; bears, lions, cougars, just to name a few.

Christine Warren once again gives us an exciting new series, a great couple and wonderful secondary characters. I look forward to the next book in this series. If you like romance, paranormal, and shifters, then you should start this series.

A stalker.
Renny had to give up her life, her job, because of a stalker-shifter.
Now, the only hope for her is to get alive in the city of Alphaville, where other shifters with other kind of problems live, but they were welcome.

Exhausted and injured, Renny collapses in front of the door of Mick Fischer, a wolf, who soon recognizes the attackers of the small wolf as coyotes.
Mick and friends in town, Jaeger, the mayor; Zeke, the deputy; and his sister Molly, EMT, take care of Renny and listen her story. They decide to help her, especially since the main attacker, Geoffrey, was the alpha of a clan in California known to be a tyrant.

However, there was one more reason for Mick to want to protect Renny: his wolf wanted to claim her as his mate.

Mick had lost his mate eight years ago, brutally.
He went to Alpha in search of an exile of his own. Wolves were known to have only one mate for life, how, then, was his wolf recognizing Renny as a new mate?

Renny immediately - and her wolf - was drawn to Mick, but she realized he did not want anything to do with her.
Well, she was not looking for a hero. She just wanted a safe place where Geoffrey and his coyotes could not attack her.

But unlike what she thought, Geoffrey shows that he would not give up easily.
A real war operation had been set up.
Meanwhile, Mick and Renny have to deal with their overwhelming and possessive new feelings.

Other characters are introduced.
The interesting thing about this series is that in Alpha all kinds of shifter can be found, which gives the author the freedom to create different types of plots and romances.

For those who like fantasy books with alpha males, comedy and HEA, this new series is the one.

5 stars

I like shifter/werewolf books. I like shifter/werewolf romances even more. Unfortunately, finding a good solid shifter/werewolf romance is a dime a dozen. I have reviewed the good, the bad and the ugly. I have become very picky about what I read because of the duds I have met. I can say with absolute certainty that Baby, I’m Howling for You is one of the good ones.

Baby, I’m Howling for You has an interesting plot. Renny is on the run from an obsessed coyote. She is running to the town of Alphaville. Alphaville has a reputation as a city that takes in the cast-offs of the shifters society. Renny is hoping that if she can make it there, that the city’s alphas will be able to help protect her. Unfortunately for her, the coyotes’ catch up to her when her car runs out of gas. Forced to run for her life, Renny ends up in the backyard of a solitary Alpha wolf named Mick. What Renny doesn’t know is that fate has connected them. What draws them together? Will Renny be able to get around Mick’s walls? Will she lose her coyote stalker? Will the residents of Alphaville allow her to stay? Want to know…..read the book.

I loved the idea of Alphaville. A city made up of shifters who either do not have a pack or are by nature solitary was fascinating to me. Add in that all the government positions were filled by Alphas’ and I loved it. I liked that it was Renny’s version of Shangri-La. What I liked, even more, was that it was attainable. That it was real and there were people ready to help Renny with her stalker.

I could not stop reading this book. It kept me on edge the entire time I was reading it. I needed to find out what happened to Renny. I needed to know what would happen with Renny and Mick. I also was very curious about the residents of Alphaville. What residents that were introduced were very interesting. This is a series that I can sink my teeth into!!

I liked Renny. I thought her stalking situations was portrayed very realistically. Everything that coyote did, I could see a human who was a stalker doing the same thing. She was brave. I mean, she took off running towards safety in her wolf form instead of letting the coyote pack take her back. I did feel that her personality was kind of suppressed during the story. But, it was done on purpose. She was in a life or death situation. She couldn’t be a peppy, happy cheerleader. Instead, the author chose to let her reveal different aspects of her personality slowly. I also did think that her reaction to Mick’s revelation was very understated. Very understated. I also would have had the same thoughts she did afterward. I mean how do you compete with a ghost?

Mick was such an enigma during the first half of the book. The author chose to reveal his secrets at the same pace that Renny started to open up. I will say that I was pretty surprised at some of the things revealed about him. I was also surprised at some things that he had done. When that was revealed, I couldn’t relate it to the Alpha that was portrayed. He also did his darndest to keep Renny away from him. He didn’t want or need her in his life. But his wolf (and hers) had different plans.

The sexual tension between Mick and Renny was off the charts. I did find it a little odd when he was attracted to her when she was injured. When they did finally have sex, it was off the charts. It was so good that they stayed cloistered for almost a week.

The end of the book was action packed. I did find it a little unfortunate about what happened to the coyotes. But considering that they were a huge problem for so many shifters, they deserved it. I am excited to see what the rest of this series will be like. If it is anything like Baby, I’m Howling for You, then I will be pretty happy.

Baby, I’m Howling for You is a sizzling action-packed shifter romance novel. It will keep you engaged for the entire book. The main characters were very relatable. The plotline was engaging. I couldn’t put this book down. I needed to find out what would happen with Mick and Renny. I am looking forward to the rest of the series. I would recommend Baby I’m Howling for You. I would also reread it.

I would suggest that no one under the age of 20. So adults only. Why adults only? Well, there is explicit sex. There is also language and violence.

I would like to thank St. Martin’s Paperbacks, St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review Baby, I’m Howling for You.

All opinions stated in this review of Baby, I’m Howling For You are mine.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. I read this a couple of weeks ago, but since it doesn't release until 1/30/18, the publisher asked for reviews to be held until 30 days prior to book release. I made the mistake of not writing down my thoughts on paper when I finished the book. By the time I sat down to write this review, I could remember very little about the book. I guess that, in and of itself, is a bit of a review. This book is forgettable. I didn't care much for the characters or relationships. I know I couldn't wait to be done with it so I could move onto other things, but beyond that...nothing. I will not be looking for more from this series and I doubt I'll be looking for anything else from this author.

Second volume in the Alphaville series, but the one I read first of course lol, Baby I’m Howling for you follows Something to Howl About (my review is here https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... ) and takes place in the town created by shifters and become a haven for those who don’t have anywhere else to go. And for the heroine it’s a last hope of security.

Indeed Renny has been chased for months by a group of coyotes sent by their alpha who decided to make her his mate, no matter she doesn’t agree. She owes her salvation to Mick’s intervention, who sends the males away then takes her in to treat her. Renny is a strong heroine, and even if she’s tired of running she doesn’t give up. She’s thrilled when she realizes Mick is her mate, and she doesn’t resign when it seems like he doesn’t want her. She’s also determined not to be put aside from the search for the coyotes and the decisions concerning her security, but she doesn’t put herself in danger stupidly.

I was pleasantly surprised by the hero. Generally the alpha males, especially shifters, tend to be overprotective and stubborn, but Mick listens to the heroine, questions his decisions and feelings, and is realistic about the consequences his overprotective behavior could have on their couple. He tries by two times to do things without telling her but recognize his error when she learns it. And if he first resists to his attraction to Renny it’s because he had a mate who died years ago, and he doesn’t understand why and how Fate “gives” him another. The only thing I found strange was how he changes his mind in the blink of an eye after an attack from the coyotes, and marks her without asking her opinion and in the middle of the street in front of everyone. The explanation that follows didn’t contain enough apologies for me lol.

So yes there’s a nearly immediate attraction because of predetermination. But we see the characters’ feeling evolve through the book, and there are several discussions between them on this subject because the heroine wonders on her ability to live with a mate who wouldn’t love her and she brings the subject up.

On the plot side I must say I found this strangely slow. Often I was waiting for something to happen but nothing. The guys chased her from the other side of the country but in one month they only make two attempts to catch her, unsuccessful of course. Of course that allows us to focus on the couple and to see their feelings and their relationship evolve, but that means the coyotes look like asses (lol) (is there ass-shifter book?).

All in all I thought this was a very pleasant story, and I’m happy to have read it before the preceding novella because I liked it more. I can’t wait to see who will be the heroes of the next volume, and as the title talks about lion it should be the deputy sheriff or his sister, who has become friend with Renny in this volume. But we’ll have to wait December to know!

Baby, I'm Howling For You by Christine Warren is the story of Renny Landry and Mick Fischer.
Renny has been on the run from a stalker for a few months. Renny is trying to make is to Alphaville where they are misfits, damaged and other type shifters in need and found a safe haven. But just a few miles before getting there she is attacked by the mans enforcers. But she escapes and makes it to Mick cabin. Mick saves her and calls out the Alphaville squad to help her and find the ones responsible for this. But the quick have an instant attraction and mate bond feeling. But Mick already had one mate and lost her so he isn't willing to risk his feelings and tries to ignore that Renny is his mate.

I was excited to return to Alphaville as the prequel novella was a great introduction to the series. In this novel we once again meet a heroine who flees to Alphaville for sanctuary as the town has a reputation and history for taking in persecuted and lone shifters in need. Here we meet Renny and Mick. I thoroughly enjoyed this PNR novel as I felt they both had sizzling chemistry and great banter. I could not get enough!

When Renny Landry finds herself the victim of an insane stalker and his goons she flees to Alphaville. But when she is wounded in a failed attack and rescued by Mick Fischer, she never would have expected her life to turn upside down. What happens when she meets her match under dangerous circumstances? Will they be able to survive the stalking shifter and Mick's past returning to haunt him?

I enjoyed this story and Mick and Renny's connection but felt it was pretty similar to the prequel in some ways (insta-connection, initial rejection of the mating bond by the male, etc.). But it did keep my attention and hooked to the last page! All in all I am interested to see what follow up stories the author has planned in this series as Jaeger seems like he would be a fantastic hero! I would like to thank Netgalley and SMP romance for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula

Baby, I'm Howling for You is a good start to a new series by Christine Warren. I liked both the hero and heroine in this one but their romance didn't grab my attention as much as I would have liked. I was more curious about some of the secondary characters.

All in all, Baby, I'm Howling for You is a good read.

REVIEW
I only discovered this series when I was asked if I'd be interested in being part of the Blog Tour by Justine at St Martins Press. ./After reading Something To Howl About, I knew I wanted to read much more of this series! I was hoping to meet more of the Alphaville residents, maybe even learn more about the characters of Jonas, his family and the newcomer, Dr Annie Cryer that I had already met in Something To Howl About.

The cover has a woman walking along a road, surrounded with forest that is covered in snow. After reading the blurb I automatically guess this lonely female figure is Renny. At the top section of the cover is a wolf shifter with piercing blue eyes, maybe Mick? The shifter on the cover would attract my attention to at least pick up the book to read the blurb, so I'd say it does its job well.

The genres I have seen listed for this book are Paranormal, Fantasy and Shapeshifter which all fit well. The label of shapeshifter fits as there are not only werewolves in this book, there are bears, lions, lionesses, cougars and coyotes. I love a good shapeshifter book though admittedly I usually stick to werewolves so the other shapeshifters were a new element for my that I found I did enjoy.

The book begins with Renny on the run from a group of coyotes, she is heading to the once place that may offer her help and refuge, Alphaville. Alphaville is a place that is populated by various different shifters. So Renny doesn't feel so guilty if the coyotes follow her there, as it is a place where there are no fragile humans. Renny has been on the run for quite a while now. She just seems to settle and then Geoffrey locates her again and sends his coyote bullies to find her again and the she has to pack p and leave as she doesn't want to endanger humans. Renny's car runs out of fuel so she quickly abandons her car and clothes and shifts to her small red werewolf form and runs as fast as she can knowing she is well out numbered should the coyotes get her cornered somewhere. Renny does end up fighting and being injured but she doesn't give up as she knows what fate awaits her if the coyotes catch her and take her back to their Alpha Geoffrey. Geoffrey made it clear to Renny that he wants her and though she tried to let him down gently at first, then ended up being more forthright and flatly saying no! Geoffrey gets what he wants and he is obsessed with getting her irregardless of her feelings, or rather lack of loving feelings towards him! Renny is fully aware she is running for her life! She desperately needs to get inside somewhere or find people as this will discourage the coyotes from attacking her. Blindly running, with the coyotes hot on her heels she ends up almost on the doorstep of Alpha werewolf shifter Mick.

Mick has lived at Alphaville, or rather the outskirts of Alphaville for sometime now alone. he doesn't interact with a lot of people preferring to keep himself to himself. Mick lost his mate Beth and has been alone ever since. When he see's Renny in her red wolf form she reminds him of Beth so much he automatically protects her from the coyotes and telephones for help to come and sort out her wounds. Its not long until Mick realises his inner wolf has decided that Renny is theirs!! and though Mick can be stubborn, his wolf is determined and it's not long until Mick joins his wolf in wanting to claim Renny.

Now Renny isn't alone and has made a few friends she relaxes a little hoping her being around other shifters will put off Geoffrey and his coyote crew. Sadly for her it doesn't, in fact the coyotes seem to think its acceptable to attack Renny in broad day light in the middle of Alphaville. Naturally Mick takes it upon himself to protect Renny and enlists the help of Aplhaville's Police and Mayor and a few other shifters willing to fight and get rid of the coyotes, including Geoffrey once and for all.

I don't want to reveal any more of the plot as it needs to be revealed as you read the book for yourself. I enjoyed the writing style and pace of the book. It has plenty of great characters with the promise of more in future books too.

I really liked most of the characters in the book. I loved the way both Renny and Mick could feel their mate bond but were both very wary of discussing it with each other. I enjoyed how though they both felt and instant bond, they developed their relationship a little slower and didn't always see eye to eye. Renny may be a small werewolf and Mick a large werewolf Alpha that is much bigger than her but she still stands, digs her heels in and readily argues for her own way and her own independence.

I also really liked the brother/sister banter between Zeke and Molly. A quirky character in the book is Marjory Caples, the current librarian who is desperate to retire and very eager to train her replacement. I love the way she speaks to Mick as though he is a naughty boy and she is his school teacher. It's really funny to read how the tough, grumpy Alpha, turns meek, mild, well mannered host when Marjory visits him to speak with Renny.

I also think the character of Geoffrey is also really well written and I thoroughly enjoyed hating him and his coyote henchmen too.

My immediate thoughts upon finishing this book were that I loved the main characters of Mick & Renny as well as some of the others such as, Zeke & Molly. There's plenty of action right up to the end of the book. I didn't want to put it down! I am seriously looking forward to reading more of this series.

I really loved this book, as well as the prequel novella Something To Howl About too. The pace of the book was perfect, I really did not want to put this book down once I began reading it. If you love shifters, then I think you'll really enjoy this book. It does have a couple of explicit steamy scenes but they are well within the context of the plot of the book. I definitely want to read more of this series as well as check out Christine Warren's The Other Series as well as some of her other series too
