I was a fan of classic Hal Jordan as Green Lantern. This update failed to grab my attention, it was boring, and the artwork was dark and murky. I DNFed the book.

Enjoyed this take on the Green Lantern. I've always enjoyed superhero cartoons, and now comics/graphic novels. The images in this graphic novel are great. The storyline was good. This was the first Earth One book I've read, hope to read more. I liked how the story is laid out.
I enjoyed reading this thru NetGalley, but really wish it had been in a different form. It took me longer then I would have liked but that was because I had to be on my computer to read it.

I really enjoyed this. I hope it gets a sequel at some point. It was a nice dark version of the Green Lantern Corps.

Green Lantern was one of the first comic book series that interested me, so I was skeptical about any tampering with Hal Jordan's GL origin. My fears were unfounded, because, like the Batman Earth One treatments, this title was a well thought out origin for Hal Jordan's Green Lantern. There are Manhunters, Kilowog, and other characters and trappings which are familiar to GL fans, but this knowledge is not a prerequisite to appreciating the story and artwork of this volume. Highly recommended.

As a huge green lantern fan I was already excited about a new origin story for Hal Jordan and how he got the ring especially considering Hal Jordan as a character and his origin was kind of dated and boring to begin with unlike Kyle Rayner who is my favorite Green lantern. This was something fresh and new which was exciting. I couldn't put this down and eagerly look forward to another volume down the road. I will certainly be recommending this.

"Green Labtern Earth One, Vol. 1" is a fresh take on the classic Green Lantern mythos. The creative team of Corinna Bechko and Gabriel Hardman work very well together, mixing their collaborative story with Hardman's beautiful art. While the coloring on this preview copy was unfinished, Jordan Boyd does an excellent job of establishing a visually dark and moody aesthetic that helps set the tone of the story perfectly. The story on a whole tells a new origin for Hal Jordan, as well as several classic Green Lantern supporting characters, in a very cinematic way that pops right off of the page. This is a must read for any Green Lantern fan, new and old alike.
