I have loved everything I have read by Tamara Morgan and Seeking Mr. Wrong was a great addition to the list.

Former jewel thief Penelope Blue is married to FBI agent Grant Emerson. He was injured in his last assignment but some way, somehow has gotten clearance to go on the next case which happens to be abroad a cruise ship. He thinks he has gotten one over on his wife, but no since she now works for the FBI now as well and he was not expecting her to be in the offices must lest assigned to the same case. Surprise for him she now works the white crimes division. They are after a criminal known as Johnny Francis. Grant is supposed to be going in as a high player in a card game with Penelope and her associates moving around gathering information. She also has to keep an eye on Grant for if he is found out he will literally be swimming with the fishes. She also does not like his chances at the card game having beaten him herself, and then seeing some of the people who show up on the ship. Grant becomes upset when one of her former boyfriends slash partners in crime Riker, is there and starts to flirt with her. She must now shut him down but also get information from him and also somehow let Grant know he has nothing to be jealous over. The story is fast paced and keeps you going by who is the Francis person. You have many different characters but the way they are introduced you are able to keep track of them all. Along with Penelope and Grant you have a very good story.

So, my love for this series was a surprise even unto me, when I picked up the first book almost totally at random. It's about a jewel thief married to an FBI agent and all the wacky shenanigans they get up to and I'm going to give you minireviews of all three, here we go.



Stealing Mr. Right opens with Penelope and Grant already married, but (supposedly) keeping a lot of secrets. Pen doesn't tell Grant she's a thief, but she suspects he knows, Grant doesn't tell her he does know or what his motivations are, there's just a lot of "he doesn't know that I know that he knows that I don't know" etc going on, which is hard to keep track of but also half the fun. I think my favorite part of the book is Pen rather frantically trying to convince her heist team that she only married Grant out of calculated manipulation when, haha, no, honey, everyone can tell. It was extremely campy and convoluted, but it was high energy and had a lot of fun.



Saving Mr. Perfect had Pen retired from thievery and trying to make a go of being a housewife, but utterly bored out of her skull. But when a string of thefts gets blamed on Pen, she has to go back into the jewel thief world in order to clear her name. This one took an issue that I had in the first book, but blew it up to a much larger scale - the unequal power balance between Pen and Grant. Both characters are extremely stubborn and the book tries to present them as balanced and using various social forces/manipulation to get their way, but...no, Grant has all the power. He's physically stronger, he has the law enforcement job, and scenarios are usually set up in a way that gives him the higher social standing. There's things Pen could use in the power play, but she just...doesn't. The end result has Grant steamrolling over her for most of the book. It's irritating, but the humor and camp from the first book is still present, and the couple still has chemistry when they do work together, so I still had fun.



And finally, Seeking Mr. Wrong is possibly the best in the whole trilogy. Grant takes a job undercover on a cruise ship full of notorious thieves to try and locate a mysterious informant, and Pen and all her friends come along because they think he's being reckless and needs backup. The setting and the setup allow for the tightest story yet here, and we get to keep our focus on what this series does best - humor and Pen and Grant making googly and suspicious eyes at each other simultaneously. It also fixes a lot of the power imbalance problems I had from the second one by putting Pen in a situation where she's got a lot of social capital and competence, compared to Grant as the relative outsider. It's silly and sexy and fun, the secondary characters really shine, and the conclusion was both surprising and satisfying. Really the only problem I had was the virulent gendered hate against a minor female character, all done for the sake of a red herring. Arguably one could say it was in keeping with the over-the-top tone of the rest of the book but...extremely unnecessary.

I cannot overstate how much I enjoy this crime caper series. I read this one slowly because I knew it was the last book, and I wanted to savor it. And it was delicious, just like I'd hoped it would be.

Penelope Blue might be my favorite heroine ever, which is saying A LOT. Her voice is so fresh, so snarky, and so distinct, and the author has done such an AMAZING job over the course of the series with Pen's character arc. She's still devious. She's still all kinds of sarcastic. She's still fiercely stubborn. But she's also a whole lot more, and she proves this in spades in SEEKING MR. WRONG. (See what I did there? Spades? And this story features a high-stakes poker tournament?? Never mind...)

There were some fun surprise twists again, so I won't say anything more about the story. Just know that if you pick it up, you're going to have a hard time putting it down.

If you're a fan of heists and snarky banter and light mystery, you MUST read this series from the beginning. I promise, you won't regret it!

This is such a fun series and I hope there are more to come. A sexy former jewel thief. An FBI agent on the chase. The first two books were a fun cat-and-mouse chase and enemy-to-lovers catnip. This book was a great treat, seeing the two lovers working together, but pretending not to, to catch the bad guys. Reading it, I could easily imagine the series becoming a mini-series or tv show. Fun, sexy, with action and intrigue. And the struggle of a bad girl trying to be good was super fun to read. Hope for more of the series in the future.

This is the third book in the series and is another super read from Tamara. I have enjoyed each and everyone one of these books and this one does not disappoint if you have enjoyed the previous two books in this series you will want to give this one a read. Penelope and Grant are great characters and I really enjoyed catching up with them.

I really had trouble getting into the book initially and getting caught up in the emotions of the characters. The storyline was good, but it just didn’t stand out in my mind amongst other books in the genre. The blurb was great, but overall the book just fell flat for me.

The third and final installment of the Penelope Blue series, “Seeking Mr. Wrong” is laugh out loud funny that at times, it has to be classified as a comedy of errors. A gender swap and a retelling of “It Takes A Thief,” Penelope Blue is an unforgettable heroine. It is sad to say goodbye to her and her beloved Grant.

The description is a good synopsis of the story. If I add more, there will be spoilers. So, I’ll just mention that Penelope and Grant are as lovable as ever. And with the addition of new characters, their new personalities added to the adrenaline-fumbling pace. Yes, fumbling not pumping because this is Penelope Blue we are talking about who is actually great being a jewel thief but somehow, something always happens for it to be a fumble.

If you love romantic comedies, “Seeking Mr. Wrong” is for you. In fact, the whole Penelope Blue series is for you. It is that good.

Penelope Blue and federal agent Grant Emerson are back. Penelope is a former jewel thief turned FBI consultant and she is trying hard to stay on the straight and narrow. Penelope and Grant are great characters and re-visiting them was fun. And yet, I didn’t really care about the mystery and that’s the main reason why this installment didn’t work quite as well as the first two for me. But I absolutely adore Penelope, her high spirited nature, her loyalty and her shrewdness. She is a kickass heroine who’s good at what she does. Grant is as swoon-worthy as ever.
With Grant’s life on the line, Penelope has no choice but to accept to get involved and backup her husband during a risky undercover mission. Penelope and Grant’s chemistry is explosive and sigh-worthy! While I’m sad this was the last part of their adventures, all stories must come to an end and this series will be definitely worth a re-read!

I'm on the verge of tears writing this review. I can't believe there won't be any more Penelope Blue in the future. Why? This serie was absolutely perfect. Each book is even better (if that's possible) than the previous one. Agatha Christie meets Ocean's Eleven. It has crime, love, family, friendship, action, mystery and a group of criminals plotting a plan.

Penelope Blue has become one of my favourite book characters. She's fun, fearless, loving, caring, selfless, kind and clumsy. And with Grant, they are the perfect power couple.

About this story, we get to know new characters like Lola, Hijack or Eden St. James (some of them more interesting and friendly than others); Penelope and Grant (and their whole squad) go on vacation, while trying to discover who Johnny Francis is. And we also see a new side of the main characters (Penelope's relationship with her father, or with her new friend Lola; and Grant's weaknesses). The end, in my opinion, was absolutely perfect and couldn't have been better.

I am hooked on this series. As soon as a new book is released I want to read it all right away and savor it all at the same time. The premise of these books is just so original. In this one the gang set sail to catch a thief. Ironic right? Another thing I LOVE that the writing really grabs hold of you and keeps your attention. The one liners are so funny, sarcastic and quite delightful. I am in love with all the members of the Blue crew but Riker holds a special place in my heart and I am making room for Lola!

Romantic thriller cozy

I was provided an eARC of this book by Sourcebooks Casablanca via NetGalley. This is my honest review for which I receive no compensation of any kind.

The cover is bright and cheerful and so suits the whacky romp with Penelope and her cohorts on this (literally) million dollar cruise! The story was a bit weird and totally implausible, but so many of them are. But I am neither a high-stakes gambler, FBI agent, nor a jewel thief, so I can’t imagine living this way or even trying to pull any of this off! Knowing that if the wrong person takes a dislike to you, you could end up bleeding out overboard far behind the ship. I mean, the guy wasn’t even very nice to his own daughter. Neither of the fathers was actually. One of the fathers made his daughter wear an extremely heavy, gaudy tiara around 24/7 during the cruise that was the prize everyone was there to win or steal. The other father was in the stateroom next to his daughter while he tippy-toed around with a strange woman.. oh no, that was her mother. Well, how was she to know, they hadn’t lived together in almost forever!

The characters were done quite well for caricatures. Everyone was playing a part, so no one was just being themselves except maybe the host of the cruise, the owner of the great tiara everyone was plotting to steal! Penelope is a former (mostly reformed) jewel thief turned FBI wife and partner to Grant Emerson, the FBI agent. Penelope Blue is considered to be the best of the best when it comes to a jewel heist and everyone’s money is on her getting the jewels. They don’t seem to get it. She’s really not there to steal them! The pace was fumblingly fast as everyone raced for the final hand of poker to see who would win the tiara and still be alive at the end. The tension had you almost going in circles.

I’m not going to reveal any secrets on this one. Just to say, that Penelope gets out of it with all that she wants including her husband in one piece, if a bit bloody.

Recommended.

Ms Morgan does not disappoint. I love this series and as always I'm left with waiting more.

I enjoyed the first two books in this series and could hardly wait for this one to release. Morgan didn't disappoint. "Seeking Mr. Wrong" had witty banter, steamy love scenes, action, tension, and humor.

Infamous 'retired' jewel thief Penelope Blue and her husband FBI agent Grant Emerson seem like an odd couple. They met when he was investigating her and talk about sparks. The two are dynamite together. She has given up, more or less, her life of theft and instead helps the FBI as a consultant and amateur field agent. Grant, despite being Mr. All-American and a possible successor to Captain America, is willing to bend or break the rules where Penelope is concerned.

This story wasn't quite as breezy as the others,it was darker, but it was twisty. Penelope and Grant haven't been married long and they are still figuring out their relationship which led to some spirited, and sexy, bickering. Grant was injured at the end of book two and at the beginning of this one he is impatient to get back to work, while Penelope would rather he take more time to recover. Then they got brought in for an emergency and they are both out in the field. Penelope's family and some of her friends are along for the ride. Penelope worries about Grant and his injuries while he tries to pretend that he's perfectly fine which led to tension between them.

A high stakes poker game, old friends, new enemies, and a story set on a ship at sea with no easy escape made for an engaging story. Most of the twists took me by surprise though there was one I figured out early on. That didn't decrease my enjoyment or the suspense especially as there was a lot going on. And there was one thing pleased me; one of the new characters (who I'd love to see again) has asthma and Morgan actually portrays it pretty accurately. Most books, movies, and TV shows get it wrong so it was a nice surprise to see it presented realistically.

The rest of the story stretched credibility at times but was interesting. While the story didn't quite live up to the wit or humor of the earlier books, it was still enjoyable and the tension of the poker competition and finding a master criminal as well as the side dramas going on kept me reading. Morgan also further developed Penelope, Grant, and some of the others, fleshing them out. I'm looking forward to more adventures with Grant and Penelope.

This is a great book; this is the third book in the Penelope Blue Series written by Tamara Morgan. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. What could possibly go wrong when a former jewel they and an FBI agent get married? Add to the mix that she's now working as a consultant for the FBI and has to act as backup in an undercover operation. With a very sought after tiara up for grabs that's on every jewel there's most wanted list...

This is part 3 of the Penelope Blue series. The book explains the characters and their background very well so I think you can read it without the first two... BUT the first two books were so amazingly romantic, fun, sweet AND sexy that you HAVE to read them. Besides, the story is so much more satisfying when you see the growth of the characters.

What I love about this book:
The love between Penelope and Grant: It's so touching and sweet. And they are sexy together too! No graphic sex scenes but they are sexy,.
The character of Penelope: She is sassy, fun, loyal and lovable... I would love her as a best friend.
The dialogues, the dialogues and the dialogues: So snappy, fun and sarcastic that I laughed out many times while I read it...
Penelope's friends: all so much fun... Riker's a favorite and so is Warren, her father.
The HEA...

What I was want more:
More scenes and MORE books of Grant and Penelope: I know they can't be together every single page... but they really shine when they are together! I need more of this couple.

A fun and lighthearted read, totally enjoyed this chase filled romance with two most unlikely protagonists. This is the third book in the Penelope Blue series and although the coupledom between Penelope and Grant is a done deal despite the more than honest start, this former jewel thief and her FBI hubby have proven that opposites do attract but there are many hurdles to get a happy ending. This final book in the series finds our couple on a mission to neutralize the bad buy by pretending not to know each other? Which leads to a lot more shenanigans from the always on the go Penelope Blue. The book is definitely not meant to be a standalone and it makes a fine ending to this humorous and witty series.
