I love unreliable characters so I was very excited about this book!

Unfortunately for me, most of the twists were easy to see coming and the story simply didn't impress me.

It's definitely a page-turner and if you like your thrillers to be full of twists this might be worth a shot!

This story was a solid 2 stars for the majority of it. It seriously took me MONTHS to get through it (and NOT because Hogwarts Legacy just came out and I've been addicted to that). The story just moved SO slowly that I was bored for the first 50-60% of it.

And yeah it finally picked up. And Amber was right—sometimes she does lie. There were some big 🤯 moments that made me re-read the same part over and over a few times to make sure I was following. Surely this can’t be right?! I didn’t guess any of it which of course I love. So it started to have some potential and I finally, FINALLY got through it. I was about to give up but it’s really hard for me not to finish a book. I’d rather just take months to get through it instead. 😑

I also don't think I ever connected with Amber. I wanted her to wake up and I wanted her to remember what happened. But we never connected. She wasn't someone I'd ever vibe with enough to be friends with. I did enjoy how the story was told from three different POVs—right before the coma, during the coma and childhood arounnd10-11 years old. You'd think that would keep the story at least a little lively but Amber really needed to PICK. UP. THE. PACE.

Were the twists shocking and more outrageous than I expected? Yeah! Did I finally start enjoying it? Sure did. But overall, if a book takes me THIS long to get through, it’s just not going to rate high. It needed to captivate me sooner. Get me excited. Make my heart race. And sadly, this one just overall didn't.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a brilliant read. As soon as I started reading this book I just knew I was going to love it. Highly recommended

Simply brilliant! Such an amazing story right up until the end. The right twists and turns that make you curious enough to devour it in one sitting. Which is exactly what I did!

This was SO good. I'm not entirely sure how to do this book justice. I was thinking about it long after I had finished.

Another twisted story from Alice Feeney.

Not my favorite of her books but still kept my interest. The story jumps from past to present and can be confusing if you don’t pay close attention.
Like the author and will read more by her.

SOMETIMES I LIE is an interesting, very well-written psychological mystery. The narrative voice is engaging and very unreliable. The story has multiple twists in it, and Feeney has a gift for spinning readers along perfectly. This was my first novel by Feeney, and it won't be my last. Really good. Definitely recommended.

Three things I know to be true: 1. this book was a wild ride 2. I couldn't put it down 3. I should have read it years ago, but better late than never.

Wow!! Sometimes I Lie goes back and forth from "then", childhood in diary format and then present. Lets just say during the present chapters I felt so claustraphobic!! I loved trying to piece everything together along with the main character and trying to figure out who to trust, what happend and why.

Sometimes I Lie was my first read from Alice Feeney, but you can bet it won’t be my last. I feel like this book really messed with my mind, and even at the end, I wasn’t sure I was clear on what had happened. In the case of this book, I loved that! You can tell immediately from the blurb that you cannot trust the narrator in this story, as even by her own admission, she’s a liar. It makes for an interesting relationship between reader and narrator. But even knowing that, the author is able to inject such terror into Amber’s ‘voice’ that you can’t help but feel for her. She’s lying in a hospital bed, and while she’s unable to move, she’s aware of everything that’s going on around her. But the creepy part is that while she doesn’t remember what happened, she has reason to suspect that every person who visits her could have caused her harm.
This book flip flops between Amber’s present and her past, back to when she was a young child. It was written in a way that kept me interested, because I knew the timelines were going to payoff in a way I wouldn’t expect, and I couldn’t wait to find out how. I have to say, one of the things that can sometimes happen to me with Mystery/Thrillers is that I can have a hard time connecting to the main character, which I am OK with. Most of the time they are in circumstances that I don’t want to identify with. But I totally connected with Amber and everything she was feeling, I was feeling, too. There were times when the fear left me breathless, and I couldn’t put this book down. When I did have to put it down because of life, I couldn’t get back to it fast enough. The pacing of this book just never let up, and I always wanted to know more.
I’m surprised at how much I remember, because I read this book a while ago. (And am just now reviewing it - bad blogger!) There were so many twists and turns here, so many people who could have been the bad guy (and honestly, even if they weren’t the bad guy, none of them were stand up people.) I enjoyed Sometimes I Lie so much, and if you’re a fan of Thrillers and still haven’t picked this book up, I think you’re really missing out!

This was both a really compelling read and a really slow read, both at the same time. The twists surrounding the diary, the narrator, the relationships, that really really surprised me and was really well done. But to get there seemed to take forever, and was shrouded by some unnecessary subplots.

I am very late in reviewing this but I could not finish the book despite trying several times. I didn't care for the writing style or multiple timelines. Thank you for the advanced copy.

This book is INSANE, and I mean that in the best way. You are constantly second guessing what you know to be true, because Sometimes, She lies. WHAT actually landed her in that coma? What is happening now? In her past? In the week leading up? When everything falls together you will be shocked and gripped and so ready for more.

Late to review this but...I received a copy of the ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion. I did finish the book but give it only 2 stars. I can understand why many readers enjoyed it, as details are revealed slowly and the reader must try to figure out what’s real, what’s not and hey, it says right in the title that one must remember that *Sometimes The Narrator Lies*.There were lots of twists and turns before the conclusion which I found somewhat confusing. I believe at the time that I read this I’d read one too many novels with an unreliable female main character, so maybe it’s just me.
Thank you, NetGalley.

I was engaged from the beginning, but got weary of the multiple timeframes - that's just not my preference in storytelling. Ultimately that put a damper on my enjoyment. Also, I was leery from the get-go due to the title. I was uncertain who and what to believe. I think I prefer a little more clarity.

Psychological thriller that takes place over a few weeks time. Amber is in a coma. She can hear what is going on around her but can’t communicate. Amber is also very honest, she sometimes lies. As the story goes on, the reader is unsure what is the truth and what is not. I found this to be a gripping story and couldn’t wait to see what would happen. Will look for the next book from this author.

When Amber Reynolds wakes up in a hospital, she can’t move, speak, or open her eyes. She has no idea what happened or how she go to where she is. Slowly, Amber begins to remember what happens to her, as she remembers the truth about those that visit her while she is in the hospital.

Sometimes I Lie is what I would call the perfect thriller. There’s one twist that’s just out of grasp throughout the entire book, some may be able to catch on, or you have a pretty good idea as to what is going on, but can’t pinpoint exactly what. And then, as you close in on the last 50 or so pages, multiple twists continue to be thrown at you.

I loved the characters in this book as well. Typically the character you want to hate most in psychological thrillers is the husband, but in this case, he’s actually the good guy! The two main female characters are characters that you love to hate. They aren’t the most outstanding citizens, but you still root for them throughout the book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait to check out Feeny’s next book releasing in April!

I love unreliable narrators. This book blew my mind in the best way. I didn’t know who to believe or listen to. And in the best way I didn’t know what to believe or what was going to happen. Alice Feeney wrote an exquisite book with characters that I’m not even sure I like. They’re damaged and crazy and I love it. Paul is an innocent bystander in the madness but he loves Amber and that’s all that matters. Definitely would recommend!

AHHHH!! This book was so, so good! It was so attention-gripping and I couldn't put it down. Then I got to the end and OMG THAT ENDING!!!! Such a great book. Thank you for the opportunity to read it!

I can't recommend "Sometimes I Lie" enough to those who like psychological thrillers. It kept me guessing until the very end, with each new revelation only adding to the suspense. Best of all is that it all seemed logical and the ending makes sense. Very well-written!

This book reminded a of The Girl on the Train in terms of having an unreliable main character. I thought I had the book pegged from the very beginning but I was wrong. So very wrong. Good job on the twist!
