This is my second Quinn Anderson book. It started out pretty cute. I do love her voice in her stories.

This one however, didn't quite meet my expectations. I have a pet peeve about male characters in M/M Romance novels being portrayed as too feminine. I don't mean "effeminate", I mean "feminine". Where you keep asking yourself if this is Brendan or Brenda you're reading about.

If that were my only complaint it would fall into the "many" category because I read a lot of books that give me that impression. But this one also bothered me with with the other H, Colin Matthew.

I was put off by Matt. I found him egotistical and judgemental. The way he was meant to be. But, he never redeemed himself in my eyes. All of his romantic overtures left me feeling like he was either trying too hard or making himself look good.

This particular story didn't work for me. However, I still very much enjoyed Ms. Anderson's writing and look forward to reading many more of her novels because her writing is witty, warm and easy to read.

Brendon stumbles into a relationship quiz on a magazine given by his friend. He thinks the quiz's answers are so perfect for him and Brendon becomes a little obsessed. Well, actually Brendon believes that the quiz maker is his soulmate. After doing a little "(online) research" and finds his name to be Matt; Brendon starts his quest for true love.

All of the Above is pretty predictable when we have an MC who does a little stalkerish action to set-up a fake meet-cute with a love interest who says that he hates being lied to. BUT, this also has a rom-com formula that feels familiar and it makes me smile on several occasions. I mean Brendon is a bit neurotic about it, and it was FUN to read. I thought Matt was being judge-y, though maybe he has a valid reason for it.

It was an entertaining read -- if you can close your eyes of both the MCs' flaws and don't let it bother you much :)

This book was SO MUCH FUN!
I instantly took a liking to Brandon. He’s adorkable, funny, sweet and well, I just really enjoyed his voice.

So, upon reading a quiz in one of his friend’s discarded magazine, and spiraling into a hard crush, he makes it his goal to identify the author of said quiz because they’re obviously should mates.

I absolutely loved it. I mean, I would have probably done the same thing, sort of, Definitely would have googled the shit out of the guy and staked out his usual haunts in hopes of „accidentally“ running into him. I think we can all agree that Brandon went a bit far with pretending (and knowing!) to like all the things Matt likes and as expected it backfired eventually.

Beautifully written.

I’m not sure I truly got Matt, he’s still a big mystery to me and I have to admit, he’s not the most likable person (to me). He came across as too cold for my liking and I didn’t quite get what Brandon saw in him. There was just something missing for me. And, I don’t know, I just never got rid of the feeling that he was hiding something sinister. Ha. He wasn’t though and I still enjoyed seeing them fall in love. Brandon and Matt were very sweet together. The Date Book was a seriously awesome idea!

Highly recommended!!!

Honest review based on an ARC provided by Netgalley. Many thanks to the publisher for this opportunity.

It's no secret I really enjoy this author's works but this is my first time reading a book outside the series I'm following so I wondered how different this would be.

The story is simple: after taking a quiz, Brendon notices he is very compatible with its creator. Since it was a local magazine, it wasn't hard to locate the person, Matthew Kingston, and simulate a meet-cute. The problem rises when the two notice some incompatibilities among so may things they have in common.

Maybe because I found it weird when I read the summary about him falling for Matthew from a quiz, I didn't feel so surprised by Brendon's stalking. I did feel a little creeped out, but this is a topic discussed in the book so it was okay in the end. What I didn't like was Matthew himself. This was a very quick book so maybe I needed more time to get to know him but his quiz would repel me instead of making me interested. Also, even if he was almost the whole book described to look like a teacher, he missed the vibes. I guess I'm stereotyping too much, but I did expect more of him.

Aside from that, it's a book to read in a day so easy and fun it is. The plot is quite simple too but I liked the way it goes deeper on their personalities, the clash seemed very real to me as fantastic as their meeting had been. It's uplifted with a little bit of seriousness to give it credibility.

If you're looking for steamy scenes, there is something but not enough—I'm not fond of smut so it was great for me. I'm not saying this because I wasn't into Matthew. As a matter of fact, I can only remember one scene really. So yes, there would usually be more in books of the genre. And also yes, I'm thankful there wasn't.

You won't regret choosing this to pass time. Just be alerted that Brendon does act stalkerish if that's the type of thing that really puts you off (and Matthew is too blah but it's just my personal opinion lol). In any case, for me this was the ideal amount of fun needed to take my mind off things!

“Brendon isn’t in a rut, per se—he just always seems to be in-between things. Jobs. Degrees. Boyfriends. He never finishes what he starts. The perfect path is out there somewhere, and if he can just figure out what it is, he’s certain everything else will fall into place.

The last thing he expects is to meet his soul mate in the pages of a magazine quiz. “Who Is Your Perfect Man?” by Matthew Kingston seems like a road map to his future husband: the author himself. Brendon may not have his life figured out, but if Matt is as romantic as his quiz, Brendon can check “true love” off his to-do list.

When Brendon fakes a meet-cute between them, Matt proves to be as wonderful as he hoped. The more Brendon gets to know him, the harder he falls. But Brendon has a confession to make: how can he explain to Matt that he arranged their “fated” meeting? Brendon can’t tell if he’s found his soul mate, heartache, or all of the above”
This was my first romance book which was LGBTQIA and was a male/male romance story! It was a good cheesy romance and I felt it was a good story to introduce me into a Male/Male romance.
Brandon has been a bit unlucky in love and has yet to find the man of his dreams until he stumbles upon a magazine with a quiz at the back for finding your perfect date and it just happens to include all his favourite things. Brandon finds out who wrote the article, Matt, and makes it his plan to ‘accidently’ bump into Matt at his favourite places (that he knows through the article) and ask him on a date. It was all fun until they start a relationship and Brandon is stuck on whether to tell him that the circumstances that they met under weren’t exactly confidential.
It was quick light-hearted read and I really enjoyed it. It was only 155 pages, so novella length which makes it even more interesting that I like it because I usually hate novellas – they’re normally not long enough and don’t have enough detail in them to wrap everything up but this did such a good job! It wrapped up really well and managed to cover everything in the sorry without leaving any loose ends and even had an epilogue to show what happened 2 years later.
The characters were really well developed – especially Brandon who was the main character and you did feel emotionally invested with the plot. One minute you wanted to hate Brandon because of what he was going and then you were wishing they were together! It was a rollercoaster of emotions and it really kept you pulled into the story. There was obvious chemistry between Brandon and Matt also which I really enjoy in a story and obviously helps make a romance a lot more realistic.
I also enjoyed how the plot had that modern twist to it – Brandon manages to find a lot out about Matt because of his online content and he only had a blog! It obviously was a bit creepy how Brandon went online and googled Matt before he went on a date and tried to set up the circumstances to meet him but as Brandon has mentioned, it’s something you can see all the time in romantic comedy films and they make it seem the norm. I’m sure a lot of people will have gone online and googled their partners that they’re going on a date with to see how much they’ve got in common before going on the date so it was interesting to see a twist on that!
Overall it was good, fun read and I’d definitely pick it up if you’re looking for a good book to give you an easy introduction in a Male/Male Romance.

I think this would have been cute if it wasn't creepy? I really really disklike the protagonist. He makes himself a manic pixie dream boy; ge gets away with problematic behaviour because he wants to get the guy.

Also seeing my culture incorrectly represented through the side characters Areesh and Sasha just made me mad. (Disclaimer: I know obviously that there are infinite ways to represent any minority group but imo I feel like as an author not of that background you should do more research...)

Heartwarming read with adorably quirky characters and a perfect HEA.

Book Review: ♥ ♥ ♥ ❣

Sweet but cheesy. I'm torn between rating this book 3 or 4 stars, so we will go with 3.5. I enjoyed the storyline however it was predictable.

Brendon isn't good with committing to decisions. He is always stuck between jobs, studies and boyfriends. Brendon reads a magazine quiz written by a local man called Matt. Brendon convinces himself Matt is his perfect match and decides he has to meet him. After some "research" aka online stalking, he finds a picture of Matt and his favourite hangouts. Now all he has to do is accidentally on purpose run into him. If only it was that simple, but who said the road to true love was easy? Brendon initially tries's too hard and already knows too much about Matt. Can he pull it back? Will these two find some middle ground?

All of the above is funny, sweet and a little cringe-worthy in places. With this said I believe there are people out there who are like Brendon. I feel all of the above is a fairly realistic story. These days it is so easy to take a glimpse into someone's life via social media. You can see their pets, favourite restaurants and in some cases their meal preferences.

All of the above is a Male/Male romance story which I overall enjoyed.

3.5 stars out of 5. ARC received via Netgalley in exchange for a fair review.
