This book contains a beautiful collection of poems and other short texts that reflect what it looks like to be thankful/grateful for all things. These writings are very heartfelt and often praise God in a loving and appreciative way. This is absolutely a book I would like to return to every November!

This is a perfect hostess gift if you're going to Thanksgiving dinner at a friend or relative. It's a short book with poems (many hymn lyrics) and bible verses that truly show how to be thankful. Can be used as a devotional in fall. Originally published in 2012, it's a timeless book that can be pulled off the shelf anytime one needs reminding we can be thankful for small things in life.

This is a great read for any time in Autumn with poems such as
The year has turned its circle, The seasons come and go. The harvest all is gathered in And chilly north winds blow. Orchards have shared their treasures, The fields, their yellow grain, So open wide the doorway Thanksgiving comes again!
It is especially relevant to Thanksgiving but as the UK doesn't celebrate this day and I enjoyed it is not exclusively for the US. Many of the readings are relevant all year and it is right to praise and thank our God.
I was given this book by NetGalley and the publisher. This is my voluntary review.

Words of Thanksgiving is a very uplifting book containing prayers, meditations, and poems by a variety of people such as Emily Dickinson,Ralph Waldo Emerson and Abraham Lincoln, whose famous Thanksgiving Proclamation, in the midst of the Civil War, made it a national holiday. Each is accompanied by a colorful image such as a pumpkin, leaf, or candle. This is a nice book to give as a gift, not only around Thanksgiving, but as a reminder to take time and just be…thankful.

'Words of Thanksgiving: Prayers, Poems and Meditations' by Nancy Streza is a curated collection of short poems and verses centering around the harvest and gratitude.

The selections include poems by Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry Alford, and George MacDonald. There are passages of scripture from the Bible and selections from the Book of Common Prayer.

The selections lean toward the religious. At 40 pages, this would be a nice gift for the Thanksgiving holiday, with selections that could be read and reflected on around a bountiful table.

I received a review copy of this ebook from Xist Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

Reading WORDS OF THANKSGIVING, compiled by Nancy Streza, I am reminded that Abraham Lincoln made this a national holiday. Wow--I had forgotten! (It's also an interesting story of how the official date changed over the years.)

I was also quite surprised to discover that "Over the River and Through the Woods" was actually about Thanksgiving! What--I thought that was some story about dinner at Grandma's!

Nancy includes some of my favorite hymns, including, "For the Beauty of the Earth," and "Now Thank We All Our God." Reading the lines again, I can "hear" the tune running through my mind. What great songs!

Overall, WORDS OF THANKSGIVING is a balm to the soul. We need books like this, we need to pause and be thanksful for our many blessings. Thank you Nancy Streza!
