This is a fun book that enables children to learn Spanish (or English depending on their first language) whilst they are reading the story - a nice touch if a little repetitive at times.

I enjoyed this Spanish/English story about pets! It was "just right" in so many ways -- just the right tone, just the right level of word difficulty, and just the right length. it is good for a younger child just learning to read their first (or second) language, or for an older child just starting a second language (since seeing the translation right next to it is so helpful). Please write more of these!

What a fun way to teach children some simple Spanish! All the sentences are written in English and Spanish. The illustrations are beautiful and engaging. Simple, straight forward and fun!

Thank you to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

A cute book with simple illustrations and simple sentences chosen to help children learn a few basic words in Spanish. I enjoyed the read a bit more than I expected to, and think this would be an excellent choice for a book to keep on hand for very young children that you are wanting to teach Spanish to. For older children though, it may not be the best choice.

A bilingual book for younger learners (and also worked for me to impress my 14 yo who is learning Spanish in high-school and check his learning skills at the same time) which impressed with both the cute, colorful illustrations and text that repeated just the right amount to help learn. I had memorized most of the words used in the book due to the clever repetitions by the time I reached the end of the book! es un buen libro!!

A bilingual book in Spanish and English that compares and contrasts things the narrator’s cat and dog do, can’t do, like, or don’t like.

My Spanish skills consist of vocabulary I learned from Sesame Street, what I picked up living in Southern California for three years, and what I can figure out based on similarities to other Romance languages. In other words, my Spanish is horrendous. However, thanks to the repetition of terms in different contexts and the bilingual text in this I now know a couple more Spanish terms after reading this book. It’s also an easy English read, so it would work well the other way too (Spanish speaker learning English terms) or as a beginning reader for little ones whose native language is either Spanish or English. If you want to test yourself in one language you can easily cover up the other language as the Spanish is always at the top of the pages and the English is always at the bottom (kudos on the smart design there). The illustrations are simple but attractive computer graphics, which is nice because between looking back and forth between the lines of text any more details in the illustrations might just overwhelm the eyes. A very approachable bilingual book for those just beginning to learn Spanish or English, or beginning readers in either native language.

Told in both English and Spanish with a drawing in between, this tells the similarities between cats and dogs as seen by humans, though the cat might have different opinions. In the end they figure out how to coexist.
With its simple language and artwork, this is right in the wheelhouse of preschoolers.
3.5 pushed up to 4/5

An adorable bilingual English/Spanish book about the relationship between a cat and a dog - definitely a good resource to help teach kids basic Spanish phrases at an early age, aka the best age to learn a foreign language.

Bilingual book in Spanish and English, great little short book for beginner readers to learn new words in two languages.

I think any book that encourages learning second languages is a great idea, and 'My Cat, My Dog' does exactly that. It tells the story of a dog and a cat and how they interact. All of the sentences are duplicated, once in English and once in Spanish. I enjoyed the simple graphics and use of white space and nice clear text. The story however, seemed that it was just a lot of simple Spanish phrases thrown together in order to try and make some semblance of a storyline. I didn't find the story enjoyable, and it seemed that the sentences had been chosen due to their simplicity in Spanish as opposed to the story they make.

Very brief, but enjoyable story of the cat and the dog. I liked the bi-lingual back and forth, and very fitting for the disdain of the cat towards the dog. I had the story on my devices (Ipad and Kindle), and the illustrations where not shown. Would have been more interesting to see them, as again, the story is super short. Would recommend, but probably not for electronic versions.
