I've been dying to read a book from this author because I know how dark she writes and I absolutely love dark books.

I can definitely tell you that she didn't disappoint. This book was intense, raw, and gritty.

Everything about this book was just so.....wrong but damn was it beyond good. I couldn't seem to unglue myself from reading each and every single page, one after the other.

I can honestly say this book was freaking taboo and I love me some taboo! I like anything forbidden, WRONG and yet so right!

If you can't handle taboo stories, then this is definitely not for you, but if it's something you like or want to try out, then I suggest you go for it. At times I felt like I was on one of those scary roller coasters where you don't know how you're going to feel once you're on it. Didn't know what to expect, whether you were going to be afraid or if you were going to enjoy the thrilling ride, I felt like this going in, but I can guarantee you this was one hell of a roller coaster that had my adrenaline going nonstop.

I've definitely found myself another dark author that I plan on reading more of because now she's got me intrigued and I absolutely can't wait to see what else she can get my blood pumping with.

5 EVIL STARS!!

The blurb of this book won't give you much about the story, but I can guarantee you that you'll be surprised at what's been written.

There's not much I can say about it without giving away the plot, but this is a Lily White story and that in itself should give you a hint that whatever you're about to read will keep you entertained.

This must be one of the parts that completely enthralled me:

- I finished the homily with so much passion and fury, it forced the parishioners to their feet at the moment I spilled my last drop just so they could scream, "Amen!" A-fucking-men was right. -

Unbelievable!!

There's so many stunts done by one of the characters, you can't even believe... MF all the way until the end and beyond!

It wasn't easy to see Jacob's internal fight. I thought he would remain strong until the end, but also the way he was teased by circumstances in which he saw himself was too much...

Lily White delivered one incredible story and if you like taboo stories, you can't skip this one!

This book was by far the most twisted, darkest I have read this year. It was a total mind trip that had me on the edge of my seat the entire time reading it. While some will call this book a psychological thriller, I found that the play on religious views and beliefs to be intense, intriguing, and enthralling. The strong characters lived in a twisted world were you couldn't anticipate what would happen next and then Lily White leaves her audience with a cliffhanger! I became immersed in this dark read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

I ended up dnf'ing this one. I normally love Lily's darkness, but this one wasn't for me.

"Her body still presented like it wasn't a temple shielding her soul, but a cage. Not just a cage. Her body was a weapon."

This was a total mindfuck! However, while I enjoyed the overall story and deviousness I did found the story a bit dragging. Yes, we got it that he was a devoted man and was not allowed to sin that we were told over and over again.

Through his kitchen window Father Jacob Hayle sees a "young woman. She collapsed, her frail body crumpling, her head hitting painfully against the ground because she’d failed to brace herself."
He carried the woman, who "had the face of an angel – the face of a memory I was fighting to forget", inside his church. Bringing this woman into his life is the start of a horrible chain of events to Jacob’s worst nightmare.

When Jacob learns that this woman was brainwashed to be the perfect submissive by his twin brother Jericho aka Elijah, who he hasn’t seen in almost eighteen years, he is shocked to learn that Sedra aka Eve is his brother’s gift to him.
“She’s not a possession to be traded back and forth. She’s a human being.”
“She was. Yes. Sedra was a boisterous child when she was brought to the compound. So beautiful, passionate, energetic … full of innocent youth. Enjoy Eve. Keep in mind that your time with her is limited.”

Recognising the perfect masochist that Eve is, it does not take long for Jacob to answer the call of his dark urges. "Wearing temptation like a cloak, Eve was dangerous to a man like me.
I was a devout man, one falling into the depths of Hell happily staring up into the face of what had been my last temptation."

The way the story of the twin brother evolves is a colossal insidious intrigue and I am very much looking forward to the conclusion of their story and am anxious waiting for book 2, Fear The Wicked

"Pray louder, Sister. Because I can promise you, your God isn't listening."

I haven't been particularly overwhelmed by the last couple of Lily White releases, but this is completely back to form. Although a slow start, which I have to admit I struggled with, it really picked up, especially towards the end, to become a scene of sweet chaos, including the darkness and evil White is so well-known for. A 'snowball effect' climax, this was one dark and strong ending which has really fed my desire to read the next to find out what happens.

I loved how there wasn't really any romance as such in this. It was about pleasures of the flesh, about temptation and about power and corruption, sometimes shocking, other times erotic. One particular scene which stood out to me—when I felt myself sit up and think, hey, I'm into this now, what's gonna happen?—was that of Jacob giving his homily. Then, things got really dark.

So dark, in fact, I'm not sure I can see the light—but I plan on stumbling through to reach the end of the tunnel regardless.

I swear, this book needs to come with HUGE warning labels. And I mean HUGE!! At one time, Eve was known as Sedra, a relatively ‘normal’ child with loving parents and a protective older brother. When she was 10 years old, her parents moved them to a community that was supposed to better for them - a nurturing environment. And that’s where Sedra’s life spiraled and she soon became Eve, the obsession of the cult leader, Elijah. Elijah was handsome and charismatic, convincing his followers that he was full of purity, that Eve was key to their salvation, and that together, the commune needed to help him either turn people to their cause or eliminate them. Jacob was Elijah’s identical twin brother, who also happened to be a priest, and his parish was in the neighboring town. These two brothers couldn’t be more alike and yet they were so different. This story tells of the darkness that lives inside each of these characters and it’s not only dark and depraved, it’s also twisted, eerie and wicked.

While I had sympathy for Sedra/Eve, I was a bit confused by her behavior. I guess I couldn’t understand how she was brainwashed so easily. She didn’t seem so susceptible in the beginning. Elijah definitely ruled this story. He was the beginning and the end and a part of me couldn’t help but see everything through his eyes and try to understand. Between him and Jacob, I wasn’t sure who to root for because both had a black hole growing exponentially within them. I honestly don’t even know how I feel about this story. It’s definitely not over and I’m curious to see if there will be any light in part two,
Fear The Wicked.

This book is a rollercoaster and at first I wasn’t sure if it was going to be a rollercoaster I wanted to read. This is my very first Lily White book but I have a tendency to gravitate towards dark and heavy reads because it is something different for me to get my teeth into.

Sedra/Eve, I can’t sum her up. She’s not an easy character to connect with. I found myself feeling a bit off with her character. I think my cynicism came into force a lot in this book. I just feel like she’s not as well rounded as she could be. However U kind of had to eat my words because oh my days she ends up being my absolute favourite in this book.

Jacob, hot dayum! What can I say, he’s hot, sexy and so damn tasty. I loved reading about him and his desires. I love the war he has and then when he gives in, it’s explosive! Elijiah on the other hand, dude, I wanted to castrate him. I really hate him but at the same time he intrigues me.

I am so excited to see what the second book entails!

4 stars

4.5 STARS

First of all, if you like dark erotica, twisted, sinister, pushing boundaries, gritty, kinky, disturbing, and without romance but lots of steam and passionate scenes, then this is the book for you!!

Illusions of Evil is a chilling, psychological thriller/suspense, that is intense, enthralling, intriguing, with twists and turns. The story is well written, fast paced and with exciting plots. The characters felt so real, the emotions and actions felt so palpable that it felt as if I had been transported to Lily's world.

Don't let the first few chapters fool you, this book will keep you flipping the pages to find out what happens next, and in the edge of your seat the entire time.

Lily White and her Mind-blowing writing powers never fail to disappoint.
I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next installment.

This story was twisted. I went into this story with a completely different type of story in mind, but that doesn’t mean I was disappointed. In fact this story ended up being better than what I expected. The twists and turns are ones I’ve never read about before, which makes this story completely unique and refreshing. I was constantly surprised, and completely interested the entire time. Jericho and Jacob’s dynamic was intense and full of absolute mind f**kery. You really feel for Serra, and root for her to overcome all the forces keeping her where she was. I couldn’t wait to get to the end of the story, because I constantly wanted more. When the story came to the end, I wasn’t ready, and I still wanted more.
This was a new Author for me, and I am now excited to explore EVERYTHING else she has written. She is now stuck with me, because her writing is fantastic. I want all of her stories in my library now!
don’t want to give anything else away so I will have to move on before I do. Just know that this is a MUST READ in my opinion, and an author worth keeping an eye out for in the future.
BUY. THIS. BOOK! READ THIS BOOK!

Genre:  Dark Erotic Suspense
Type: Book 1 of 2
POV: First Person – Multiple

Eve was raised in an environment she couldn't comprehend since the age of ten.  Eleven years later she couldn't tell what was real and what wasn't; what was evil and whatnot.  As a true follower and believer, Eve did everything she had been thought.  She wanted to prove she was of worth to her leader; she wanted to show him her faith and discipline.

"She only wanted to be good herself. Giving everything to a man she believed loved her. Sacrificing her own identity to fulfill whatever sick delusions he had of her. They were all symptoms of the good inside her."

I found this book interesting and the sins and erotic feels sometimes made me question my sanity but that didn't stopped me from wanting to read till the very end.  There was something about the secrets of a character I wanted to know so badly.  I felt I couldn't read fast enough to get to the bottom of everything.

I found myself a bit frustrated with Eve for being so naive. I understand at an extent her situation but yet I feel some common sense could have been used on some scenes. However; This book was really good; I was not expecting the story to have such a twisted plot but yet so many things I cannot say because of spoilers.  The story itself kept me hooked from the beginning.  There were some twists I honestly didn't see coming but at the end I was still freaking full of questions which had me frustrated and screaming at my kindle.  I wanted one specific character to act a bit different; I still have my hopes so we shall see how this story will end in the on the next book.

"We are all cast out into a world filled with both good and evil, with sadness and happiness, but mostly a world and life that has no directions. We are born to survive and eventually die, and there's not always a correct path to travel."

Overall, Illusions of Evil would be appealing to readers who don't mind cult stories and don't mind stepping outside of their comfort zone.  This book will definably test your limits because is a story about temptations, desires and overall your faith.

Never, ever, EVER think you have a Lily White book all figured out. I’ve certainly given up. I didn’t know what to expect after reading that vague blurb of ILLUSIONS OF EVIL, apart from it being helluva lot taboo and me being raised conservative-Catholic should have had me staying far away from the book. But as always, I’ve been drawn to this darkly erotic, forbidden, brutal and somewhat scary tale like moths to the flame. Seriously, I have read my fair share of forbidden stories featuring a preacher or even a priest, but this is by far the most evil, the most cunning one. Because, as always, the name Lily White should have been a warning label in itself.

I’m refusing to talk about the plot in this review at all, because anything I would say would be a spoiler. And believe me, you need to experience this story blindly in its entirety as I did.

Lily White’s mind has to be a terrifying and utterly dark place, there just is no other explanation how else she conjures stories and characters like this. I’m amazed and frightened in equal measure.

The utter darkness that lurks beneath the façade of some of the characters is unbelievable – and oftentimes so, so unexpected. I never know if I should love these characters as much as I do. A sane person probably wouldn’t. But if your heart and soul are as dark and black as mine, you will see the devastating beauty in this whole nightmarish religious mess of a story.

This book might not be as pitch-black as some of Lily’s other books, but it’s surely one of her most disturbing ones, with elements that will chill you to your core. It’s intense, gritty and disconcertingly sensual. Oh, and it ends kind of a cliffhanger. Ungh!

This book is wrong on so many levels but I absolutely loved it! No matter how many times I get my knuckles hit with a ruler by the nuns they won’t change my mind about loving this story. AMAZING read, there just no other way to express my love for it!

Sedra is ten years old when her parents move her along with her protective older brother to a commune they feel is better suited for their wants and needs. Not sure what I can say about her parents that they would sit by and watch what happens to their daughter at the hands of Elijah, the communes leader.

Elijah is twisted and demented and I really still have no clue what the end result is that he craves, all I know is that he doesn't care whom he has to hurt in order to get what he wants.

I felt bad for Jacob whom has his own demons to slay but as we find out shortly into the story Elijah has plans for Father Hayle that will totally mess with his mind.

This was an amazing start to the series, duet, trilogy? Not really sure how long it will be but I do know for certain there is a book two coming, Fear The Evil, Which I can guarantee I will be reading!

This needs to be mentioned and please understand that there are NUMEROUS triggers in this story. This is a DARK, EROTIC ROMANCE, which includes Non-Con and Dubious Sex, Religious figures that have sex even though they took a vow not to, and a cult leader that will do ANYTHING he wants to ANYONE he wants. If any of these things offend you DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK. That being said, if this is your cup of tea I highly recommend this book.

Illusions of Evil by Lily White is a full-length, standalone, dark erotic thriller.
Please take the label dark not lighty. The book is a Dark read and not for the faint of heart. Consider you warned.

There is evil out there everywhere in the world and Eve is the proof.
Illusions of Evil is a mindfudge of epic proprtions, nothing is as it seems, you can trust nobody.
The book is full of twists and unexpected turns and left me breathless. There is tragedy, loss, and evil- so much evil.
Book two, Fear The Wicked releases soon.
I give 4 dark stars. Thank you, Lily White.

Illusions of Evil is Lily White's newest twisted, mindf***. As always, author Lily White draws me in like a moth to a flame. I couldn't look away. She captivated me from start to finish. It is dark, gritty with quite a few unexpected twists that had me like "oh, sh**".

The characters were so intriguing. The more I got to know them, the more I wanted to know. I couldn't wrap my head around the why, making me like Jacob and Sedra, caught in Elijah's web. Honestly, I'm still not sure why. It is like a cat and mouse game, only not all of the characters know the rules or that their even playing this warped game. And the stakes are high. Makes for some very interesting reading. I was like "OMG", "why?!" and the occasional "WTF".

The push/pull between the hero and heroine is intense. The desire and want is palpable. Author Lily White gives temptation and sin a new meaning. It is a battle between good and evil, right and wrong, between characters and oneself. They say good will triumph over evil, but how much can one take before giving up and giving in? It is a battle of wills.

I don't want to get into the story because I don't want to give things away and spoil it. Suffice it to say, it was not what I was expecting. You'd think I'd know that because I read Lily White's work. She is never predictable. So, while it wasn't what I thought, it was better. Much more than a dark romance involving breaking of vows, which is what I was expecting.

Author Lily White builds the tension and plays with your mind through her characters. It all leads back to one character, who is like the puppet master. But that ending?! No way!!! I need MORE!! Another fantastic book by Lily White. It is disturbing and deals with sensitive subjects, so be warned. This is a dark romance erotic thriller.
4.5 Evil Stars!!

I have read several books by Lily White and every time I do, I am enthralled by her stories. They are unique, dark and captivating. But in Illusions of Evil we are given a story so twisted I could not put it down.

This is a book you really need to just read. No spoilers, no hints, nothing. You need to experience this journey. It may be too dark for some, but if you enjoy dark and twisted characters and stories, this book is for you.

This is not a romance. It is a dark erotica with characters so twisted, they are on the verge of being demented. Brother against brother. Good versus evil? But is anyone really truly good or truly evil? One brother is attempting to find peace with his past and find forgiveness. The other thrives on evil. Eve is the pawn that finds herself in the middle of them. When one tests the other, who will come out on top?

Lily White writes dark and twisted that blows her readers away. I could not put this book down. It was unexpected and surprising at every turn. The ending blew me away. I will be sitting here so not patiently waiting for the next book!

Let me tell you guys something, Lily White is one of those authors who will make you fall in love with the sick twisted side of her writing. You will have no other choice but to love what she writes because she just have a way with telling a story that will have you devouring her book in one sitting.
This was the case with ILLUSION OF EVIL. The storyline is one that will leave you saying ‘WTF” half the time and gasping because of all the twisted secrets that will be revealed. The characters are some of the best that she have written, especially the antagonist. My goodness he was one sick SOB man, so damn twisted and you are going to love it and leave you shock because of how much you will like this story.
I cannot wait until you get to meet Father Jacob and the rest of the clan in this great twisted, f@@ked up story. Buckle up your seat belts for one twisted evil ride.

I’ve read a few of Lily’s books and this is definitely my favourite so far. It’s so wrong yet so good. I read it in one sitting- staying up til the wee hours as I didn’t want to put it down.

I’m not gonna write anything about the storyline as I think you should go in blind. I didn’t even read the blurb before reading it. I felt the author threw me on a crazy rollercoaster and I loved every second of it.

I thought the storyline was brilliant and the sex scenes were hot. If your looking for a crazy, twisted taboo read then I recommend you read this. I’m looking forward to reading more.

ILLUSIONS OF EVIL: is a standalone dark erotic thriller by Lili White.

Holy crappers!! Wow!! What a scintillating unputdownable sinfully sexy twisted read this was, what a fucked up crazy sick journey this one took me on. You know it's so so so wrong on so many levels but I shit you not the scenes in this were over the top hot!!

I hate doing this but I have to write up a no frills review for this one, because seriously you need to go into this book blind, that's the only way to give this book any sort of justice it deserves. Don't even sneaky peak!!

Ok so why I didn't give this 5 stars is because being honest I struggled with the very first few chapters, they felt disjointed, like it was explaining one scene in the past and then it jumped into the future leaps and bounds so I had to go back and re-read what I'd read then the story came into itself from about chapter 5 and from that point on I was sucked into this and for the life of me I couldn't put it down, visitors arrived, one coffee small chat and I was pushing them out the door only to hurry back to finish this.

Don't be fooled by this author, I may have only read a few of her books and she may look all pretty and innocent but OMG let me tell you she runs towards the darkness, no tiptoeing for her and she will gladly take you down with her. And this book was no different, it was dark, twisted, sick get ready for this crazy ride because it's one you'll be wanting to take.

There is twisted evil everywhere in this world which we’re privy to encountering within this book, pure evil resides. Eve has been brainwashed at such a young tender age but with that comes denial. This is her tale, it's not an easy tale to read but it's one that has you questioning your own morals.

Well, this was certainly an interesting little book. It wasn't at all what I thought it was going to be. That said, I enjoyed it nevertheless. This is the third book I have read by this author, and all of them have been unique and impressive. Miz White is quickly becoming a must read author for me.

I think I am going to leave this review a bit on the vague side. I don't want to spoil any of the plot or twists and turns. The writing was fantastic, and it was well paced. The plot was engaging and multi-faceted and kept me turning the pages. The sex scenes were hot and reasonably plentiful. I wouldn't exactly call this romance, so I am not going to bother with outlining OW/OM drama. The characters were intriguing and relatively well developed. They were also nicely flawed. Slightly demented (OK maybe more than slightly). Suitably damaged and still, I found myself inexplicably drawn to them. I would have liked to have gotten a bit more background on the main ones but since there is going to be a book two hopefully more of that is coming. Fingers crossed...

Not much left for me to say about this one. I liked it a lot, and I'm intrigued to see where this author is headed with this story and with these characters. This gets a solid two thumbs up from yours truly.
