This story is interesting, as a CIA agent blackmails a fixer to use one of his assets to assassinate a UK politician. The asset, Michael Devlin, believes he is done, after his hit a year ago he has felt himself done with that part of his life. His mind never lets him go,as he worries about those who have gone due to his work.
He was married to his one love, when she died he vowed to never love another. In this story we follow a man through the layers of his life via his conscience. We feel how he does and can picture all he speaks of as he goes through his memories, feeling intensely, love, loss and despair.
This story gives us insight into a warrior's mind, even when ordered to kill,is it really right to?A nice 'hero' who tries to take care of others while forgetting himself.
