Full of stereotypes with bad dialog!

I stopped at about 20% as I just couldn't take anymore of the bad story line, terrible dialog, one dimensional characters.

Also, why does everyone have more than one name? I get that some people have hyphenated names but everyone in town!?

I would not recommend this book to anyone.

His Redneck Girl was a cute read. I thought it was funny but it was written for a younger audience so some of the situations were a little over the top for me.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

If you are a fan of red neck comedy this is the book for you. The characters are so authentic red neck that you can't help but laugh. The overall theme of this book is funny and there are many laugh out loud moments. Aunt Callie is so red neck you would think this is where many of the comedians or country singers get their material from.

I enjoyed this book it was a fun read.Baylee Jean has been trying to get over and ignore Jimmie Joe for the last ten years when she realises her broken heart was her man-hating aunt's fault she is determined to get her man-whore of an ex back.I quite liked this one it was way over the top and funny in places but did become a little repetitive at times well worth a read though.

This book was fantastic! I loved the characters in this book! I thought they were hilarious and realistic. To some they may not be realistic, but to me they are very much so. This book even had a little bit of mystery to it that intrigued me in the beginning. The author made me laugh until I cried while reading this story! I also really enjoyed the romance in this novel and felt the story was quite original. His Redneck Girl by Lindsey Brookes is a story that I soon won’t forget! Yee-haw!

Didn’t care for this at all. Characters were lacklustre and the plot was choppy at best. Not my cup of tea

HIS REDNECK GIRL (Possum Hollow Series Book 1)
Lindsey Brookes
Book Review: ♥ ♥ ♥ ❣

This book is written in true redneck form. The writing style and characters suit the book. It was funny in places and a little over the top in others.

Baylee Jean was raised by her overprotective man-hating aunt. 10 years after Baylee Jean had her heart broken by her first love she discovers her aunt was behind their break up. Baylee Jean is determined to get her man back, but Jimmie Joe isn't known for being committed to one woman. Baylee has to show him that she's the only one he needs.

Jimmie Joe likes to play the field. He's cocky and always moving onto his next catch. Baylee Jean was the only girl he ever gave a second glance, but her aunt is a crazy witch and he was scared off. Now Baylee Jean is back on his radar, but can he resist? Jimmie Joe is about to be thrown off his game.

His redneck girl is a light-hearted comedy romance. I would recommend you download a sample of this book to see if you like the writing style before purchase. If you like the first chapter this book will definitely be for you.

This book is intended for the young adult audience.

I enjoyed this book although I struggled with it in places. I liked the style it was written in, however, some phrases eventually got a little annoying. It made me laugh and the story was entertaining. 3.5 stars out of 5.

If you love over the top characters, bursts of humor, don’t mind a ton of swearing and enjoy watching one woman go out and get her man… then you’ll have fun with His Redneck Girl.

The basics of what you need to know going in are pretty well described in the cover description. Just be aware that you might have read this before as this is a reissue of a story that came out in 2012 with a new title, new cover and some story changes. (according to the blurb on Amazon and some checking on Goodreads)

I’m not a huge sitcom fan, and in many ways that’s what His Redneck Girl reminded me of.. a sexy sitcom. If that’s your guilty pleasure then this story is for you. I didn’t hate or love it, it was a good book that I enjoyed while reading it.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

This book felt like it was the same thing as most others in this genre but it was trying way too hard!

What a hoot! Jimmie Joe, the manwhore, and Baylee Jean, the sexy good girl, make a fun romance romp. Had me chuckling throughout, with a fun group of characters. Don’t want to give too much away, but with a talking possum, a witchy aunt, an Elvis and a gypsy, make for a rocking good time. Highly recommend this book and author. Looking forward to seeing the next book in the series.

His Redneck Girl

Read a small town romance with a heavy dose of humor? Count me in! His Redneck Girl checks a lot of the boxes on my favorite to read list. However, there is plenty I wasn’t expecting either. Point one- so much swearing. I usually keep notes of such things for when I pass a book on to certain crowds. I stopped highlighting by the end of chapter two. It didn’t kill the story for me, but I know plenty of people who’ll be “counting cusses;” and to each their own. Secondly, there’s some magic involved. It’s not a full on paranormal romance, and it adds to the story, but I don’t usually gravitate to those kinds of books. It’s October, and the dash of witches in this book only served to put me in the Halloween spirit. There’s some formatting and editing issues, but HRG tickled my fancy enough that I’m willing to overlook them (but please consider fixing them!). I won’t be reading this to grandma any time soon, nor will I toss this rec mom’s way. However, I’m thinking of a few witchy friends who might find this novel, worthy of some honest cackling, in their trick-or-treat bags this year.

PS- I thought I was going crazy. Had I read this before? Umm, maybe? Apparently, this is a rerelease of 2012’s Jimmie Joe Johnson: Manwhore. While I can’t find it in my Kindle, or even library, I’m thinking I may have read it somewhere and not marked it in Goodreads. It was worth the reread and good enough to get me to buy the next book in the series, so I’d call that a win!

As teenagers, Baylee Jean Brown and Jimmie Joe Johnson were inseparable and in love. That all ended when Baylee’s aunt and reputed town witch intervened. Years later, Aunt Callie admits to Baylee Jean that she’d told Jimmie Joe that he’d never be more than a manwhore, just like the rest of his family, creating a self-fulfilling prophecy when he left. Now, Baylee Jean is ready to fight for the only man she’s ever loved, even if it means chasing off every hussy in the county. In the midst of all the action, it’s a doozy of a curse that reveals that Jimmie Joe is fated to be her one true love. But what else could you expect in a small town where the shock of a talking possum isn’t really all that shocking, because hey, true love, right?

DNF. I just couldn't get past the vernacular. As I was reading all I could focus on was the accent. And the overuse of the word diddling. The set up seemed silly to me, and I just couldn't continue.
