I enjoyed this werewolf tale. Full of twists and turns and some sassy characters!

This book is actually by the same author as the short story anthology that I read yesterday, although I didn't notice that at the time I was requesting it. I definitely prefer this longer story to the other collection though. The dialogue was still a little bit awkward at times and the mystery plot was still I think too overshadowed by the sexy bits, but overall the characters were fun and likable and the story was enjoyable and although things did seem a little bit rushed it was still a pretty fun, quick read. If you're in the habit of skipping the sex scenes in books like this you might be disappointed because there are quite a few of them, but they are pretty well written overall.

Werewolves are violent creatures who hunt humans as part of their entry into adulthood. Finding a family of werewolves who are pacifists is unexpected, but when they are all killed except for Jayden, Eli and his father decide to take Jayden in as part of their supernatural hunter team, except even Jayden's extra strength might not be able to save them

I liked the overall premise for this story: the good werewolf learning to exist in a world of bad ones amid a family that hunts bad supernatural creatures. Their work together as fighters and their experiences against various magical creatures built a very interesting world that pulled me into the story immediately.

Unfortunately, the story also suffered from a lack of detail. For example, as a group of hunters that travel the country fighting bad creatures, they seem to throw money around like they don't have to worry about it. Yet, they don't have jobs nor appear to be the least bit concerned about the expenses. Details like where the money was coming from add depth and realism to the story, which this one consistently lacked.

There are lots of positives around this novel. It has a slow burn menage with an established couple. ( I enjoy M/M/M and with a shifter spin. Double trope). The traid is very diverse, and when together they are really sexy. The mystery and world building were interesting. It is just a shame about the present tense, this was extremely distracting. It brought me out the novel several times. It also can be a bit- "will- they -won't -they" that got a little tedious.

I read this in an hour or two as it's not a long book and there are interesting ideas within its just a same that it could have been better edited to nip the present tense in the bud.

2.5 stars

I received an arc of this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

From what I am able to gather this is the second edition of this book but I don't know if it was expanded at all from its previous form.

I will say I had a really hare time getting into this book but I do not enjoy present tense at all. It takes a lot for me to fall into a story in present tense in order to enjoy it most of the time this story came off as clunky in need of a second polishing with an editor. While I enjoyed the idea behind the plot and characters I wasnt able to connect with them very well because how the plot flowed in present tense. I tried to enjoy how we got to see each chapter from different perspectives and I can see a lot of potential here but for me personally it didn't work. Though I am happy to see a diverse polyam relationship triad.
