Welcome to my stop on the First Kiss Hypothesis by Christina Mandelski blog tour! Thank you so much to Chapter by Chapter Blog Tours for including me in the tour, as well as providing me with a free copy for review! Nora and Eli are absolutely so cute as best friends in the beginning of the book, and you ca definitely see the tension between them the instant we get a glimpse into Eli's perspective in the second chapter. When Nora is being taught how to drive by Eli, their relationship is so sweet and precious, I absolutely could not wait to see how their relationship would unfold as the book went on, and I was not disappointed. The scene when Nora and Eli go tot he beach party is so cute - you can definitely see Eli getting a little jealous over a certain Texan who is trying to get Nora's attention. After a certain event leaves Eli broken over the rest of his lacrosse season, we can see the tensions rising amongst him and the situation that is occurring with our friendly neighborhood Tex. The entire book flowed so well, and was written in a way that makes their reader feel as if you were sitting next to Nora and Eli for their entire journey. I really loved the way that the author was able to challenge Nora and Eli's relationship through sports, injuries, colleges, and other potential boys that Nora could have chosen throughout the book. Eli's mindset throughout the novel was also very interesting to see, as we see him transform from best friend to something more, but not before he makes a mistake that could cost him everything that he has been working for in the end. If you're looking for a quick read that is easy to love and hard to put down, this is definitely the book for you! I highly recommend this book to fans of Operation Prom Date and It Had to be You, both novels published by Entangled Teen Crush.

This was cute and fun! It's a great, breezy contemporary for teens. Nora thought she had it all figured out, but she was SO wrong! I don't know if I agree with her or her methods, but I liked the thought process behind it and loved seeing the romance bloom!

Unfortunately I didn't finish this book, as I couldn't get into it - nothing against the author or book, just not to my personal taste. Thank you for the opportunity to read it.

This did not hold up completely to what I was expecting and I didn't enjoy it as much. Most of it seemed a little cliche and all the action was rushed. I will not be purchasing this book.

When I first saw the title of this book, I knew I’d love it. I’ve got a thing for adorable teen romance books, and this is definitely one of the cutest.

The best part of the book wasn’t the romance, Nora, or Eli. It was Eli’s adorable younger brother Ari. Ari is SUPER smart, but he is also on the autism spectrum. Instead of treating him like a burden, the author manages to make this cutie oh so lovable. Nora and Eli show their best selves around him, and if it weren’t for Ari they wouldn’t have ended up together in the first place.

Though I’ve got to admit, I do love Nora. She was smart, lovable, but still frustrating. As a reader reading from her point of view, it was hard for me to watch her hold on to the first kiss hypothesis. She dealt with this hypothesis and her need to find someone that wouldn’t hurt her throughout High School, which makes my heart hurt for her. High School kids can be judgemental, hypothesis or not. But I still love her, and I know she didn’t deserve to go through any of the things she did.

Eli Costas. Him and I? We have a love/hate relationship. In the beginning, it was promising. He was cute, he was a hard worker, and he wanted more than anything to make Nora his. But then he grew bitter and blamed everything on Nora. (He made her CRY. Newsflash, dude. That’s not what you do to the girl you like.) Though they did resolve this, it stuck with me for the rest of the book.

But overall, I loved this book and thought it was adorable. I will forever hold a place in my heart for MJ and Eli and Nora’s PFEs.

I really enjoy the best friends to more trope and this book did not disappoint. Nora and Eli have been friends forever. Nora has this theory that she will know who her one true love is by having the most wonderful first kiss with them. This is how she knows that Eli is not the right person for her because they had already shared a horrible first kiss. So she decides to ignore any feelings that she might have about him because according to her theory it won’t work out. Eli doesn’t agree with her and vows to prove her wrong about her theory. Although this theory is very unbelievable to me, I could see how it’s something that Nora believes in and I feel like this story somehow works with it. It was a very quick cute read and would be a good book to read during summer.

I give this book a 3 out of 5 stars.

The First Kiss Hypothesis by Christina Mandelski was cute and entertaining. I sure did want to slap Nora around a time or two though. She was set against anything that didn't flow with her theory, even if it meant kissing every guy she could get her lips on. All that saliva. Gross.

Eli seemed like a fun dude. I don't get why Nora held their first kiss against him. The circumstances of that kiss didn't give him a fair shot at all. Poor guy. But, he was persistent, and I enjoyed him as a character.

Their friendship is pretty adorable. I love how they treat each other and interact. Even taking the romance out of the equation, there is a deep love there. It was quite beautiful.

The Fist Kiss Hypothesis by Christina Mandelski is a young adult standalone romance. I have started and stopped several young adult contemporary romances lately. I just haven’t been able to click with the characters or the plot…or something (I think because I have been on such a fantasy kick) but all of that changed the moment I picked up The Fist Kiss Hypothesis. I LOVED this novel. Like, really loved it. I loved the characters, I loved the romance, I loved the plot. All of it just worked for me. I could not stop smiling while reading The Fist Kiss Hypothesis, which is always a good sign.

The Fist Kiss Hypothesis is the story of next door neighbors, and best friends, Nora and Eli. They have both had a crush on each other for a while, but Nora has totally written Eli off because he failed her The Fist Kiss Hypothesis. You see, Nora is a scientist and because her grandma said she knew right from the moment she met her grandpa that he was it for her, Nora thinks that she can tell whether or not the guy will be the one based on their first kiss. So she goes on a kissing spree, and poor Eli was the first test back when they were pre-teens. Bad kiss= friendzoned Eli.

Eli is the best! He is really the best guy. I loved how good of a friend he is to Nora. He is always looking out for her. And he is seriously so sweet. I want Eli all for myself. Which is why he is making my top book boyfriends of 2017 list. I loved Nora as well, but Nora and Eli together, well that was magic. I was rooting for them right from the start. Yes, Nora’s logic was faulty. Yes, it is clear as day that Eli and Nora were into each other, but it didn’t matter. Their story was so cute, I didn’t want to miss an instant of it. I flew through this book, and I didn’t want it to end.

Bottom line: If you are a fan of cute best friends romances, The Fist Kiss Hypothesis is one you will not want to miss. Honestly, I am kind of shocked it doesn’t have a higher goodreads rating. This book is an easy 5 star read for me! The Fist Kiss Hypothesis is one of the best young adult contemporary romances I have read all year, and Eli is one of my favorite book boyfriends. I can’t recommend this book enough if you are looking for a cute read that is sure to put a smile on your face.

I enjoyed this cute YA novel and it held my attention throughout. Nora, the science loving weird girl with her impossible theory and Eli, the jock bestfriend who was secretly in love with her.
I enjoyed their adventures for pie and driving lessons, and laughed at their banter.
It was a really cute story and I would definitely recommend to friends.

I wish there was a 3.5 stars option on GoodReads. I enjoyed this, quite a bit, but there were somethings about it that had me pause.

The best friends/people next door trope is something I have always enjoyed. And I enjoy it more when there is no unnecessary love triangle or cattiness, which thankfully, this did not have. Yes, I would have enjoyed a little more female friendship (though Nora reconnecting with Abby was a nice inclusion to the story), and yes, I would definitely have enjoyed more time with Nora’s family, but overall this was a sweet and simple story that I finished in two sittings (albeit a few weeks apart).

Nora was a stubborn character, a fact that I appreciated in parts and wanted to hit my head against a brick wall at parts. I love the fact that the girl is the ‘player’ in this without any overt slut-shaming about it. She has a goal and she is headed for it, because she is terrified of heartbreak and loss. That is very relatable, and I emphasise with her on many counts.

Eli is a treat too. He is less focused than Nora, a little more insecure, couched in confidence for his athletic abilities. He is sweet at parts and clueless at others. A part of me hated the way he was willing to play Nora though the logical part of me could acknowledge that he just did not realise he wanted to ‘play’ her because he loved her.

The whole mutual pining aspect of things is something I always adore, and this was done well without being over the top and without various characters banging their heads against each other to make them see sense. Their friendship deepening into love was so gradual for them not to notice until they had to face almost losing each other. The ease in their relationship, the years of history, it all painted a rich picture, and made them well-rounded characters.

Some of the way they talk to each other and treat each other does not sit well with me, but it was a fun read, and I am glad this was my first read of the year.

My oh my, The First Kiss Hypothesis giving me so many feelings that I could not put the book down and yet, I could not let it finish so fast because it is super cute, super sweet, super amazing and that conclude to super making me loving every inch of the novel. Can I have more?

Right from the first page, I know I'm going to love this novel. Like love, really love it? The First Kiss Hypothesis is a story of two best friends turns into a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship. Aren't that cute? Anyway, the story is about Nora Reid's hypothesis on the first kiss which she believes from the scientific aspect of the first kiss that gives her a wonderful reaction like from her grandmother's story, that's their destiny to be together but little did she knows, her best friend also her neighbour, Eli Costa is her destiny.

The characters;

Nora Reid: She is a beauty with brain. She is intelligent and she is on her journey to be a scientist only that she's a bit slow on love aspects. I love her character so much, she is confident although she is in denial about her true feelings still, her character is just amazing.

Eli Costas: Once, he set his mind to win Nora Reid's heart. I know he will be a romantic, loving guy perfect for Nora Reid. Even before he sets his mind, he is such a wonderful friend to Nora. I wish I have one boy like that in my life and I'm still hoping for that which I'm on full mode cheering Eli Costas on his way to win Nora Reid's heart.

My verdict;

The story plot is well written by Christina Mandelski. Her writing makes me feels like I am Nora Reid though, the reality is I was not but still it gives me that feeling. Overall, it's an adorable story which I'm going to reread it again in the near future when I got my hands on The First Kiss Hypothesis's physical book. I so totally recommend everyone to read this book as soon as possible because you know, you are up for something sweet, didn't ya?

You meet scientist extraordinaire Nora, whose really a college aged kid trying, to prove a type of experiment that kind of worked for her grandparents and she's kind of hoping that said experiment will work in her favorite one day. Oh and save some tortoises along the way as well.
Eli is her friend from next door and she's known him forever. They get along great and the story and their chemistry moves along quiet nicely. You like each character and their P.O.V. is good. So to prove a theory, one must do what one must do, even if it means kissing a thousand frogs, before you find the right one.
So, when you get a chance, pick up a copy and try it out and enjoy.

I was not a fan of this book.
The main character, Nora, believes there is a science to finding the person you are meant to be with because her grandparents had this epic first kiss story. For all of her preaching about scientific theory, Nora didn't see (and no one pointed out) the glaring flaw in her theory. She believes in love at first kiss. That the chemistry and magic will be there and it'll be beautiful and there's only one person it'll happen with. But it takes two people to fall in love. Just because she felt nothing in all those kisses doesn't mean the other guy has never felt something. What if for the guy it was the ultimate first kiss and he's in love with her but she didn't feel anything? Also, she has no control and no way to scientifically prove her theory. She wants to be a clinical research scientist but her view of scientific theory is not only flawed but incorrect at times.
It bothered me that a book based on the premise of a scientific hypothesis on first kisses and love was inaccurate in its portrayal of the scientific method. Yes, it's a romantic comedy but I expected more from a book where the MC wanted to be a scientist.
The male narrator wasn't great, either, which was also disappointing. He was better and tried to use logic to show that Nora's theory wasn't accurate. The whole plot hinges on Nora's theory, and Eli's anti-theory, so the fact that I couldn't get behind the hypothesis meant that this book was a difficult one to finish.
The romance is sweet if you can get past the glaring problems with Nora's hypothesis, but that would be the only redeeming factor about this book.

Rating: 2.5

When it comes down to it, this book was a fairly decent book. I got from it exactly what I expected form this type of YA contemporary romance novel. There was nothing really new added to the table here and that would have been fine by me, it’s just that a lot of the YA contemporary tropes it had have always been a bit problematic for me.

This is about Nora, a girl who is determined to find her one true love, which she thinks will be revealed to her by the magic of their first kiss. Basically, she’s kissed a lot of guys in the search for love and has never kissed more than one guy twice.

It’s also about her best friend, Eli, whom Nora kissed once in the 8th grade and refuses to kiss again, determining him to not be her true love due to their failed first and only kiss. All of this despite the fact that Eli is deeply in love with her, and the fact that Nora is secretly in love with him as well.

Really, so many problems would have been solved had Nora been a little less stubborn and had Eli been a little more forward.

But alas.

A major trope in fiction is the best friend who is secretly in love with the main character. I personally have always really liked that trope. My problem is when the best friend starts to feel possessive of the person they love as if they were owed that person’s devotion. And there was a little of that going on in this book with Eli actually thinking about hurting a guy who was hitting on Nora, and I just wasn’t feeling it. I never think that this is cute in books.

Another thing, this one more annoying than offensive, is Nora and her refusal to see reason. She is basing her first kiss hypothesis on her grandparents who kissed only once before falling in love and getting married like two weeks later. She then refuses to kiss anyone more than once because obviously, in science, if an experiment works once then it must be a law of the workings of the universe. Had she just tried for a second kiss so many things could have been avoided.

Overall, this was a cute, if somewhat cliche, contemporary novel, in the vein of all cute, cliche, contemporary novels. If you aren’t trying anything to blow your mind, and are just looking for a quick read, then go for it. If not, well, then it might be best to skip over this one in my opinion.

Thank you to Entangled Teen for giving me an eARC copy through Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. And this doens't affect my thoughts or opinion about the book in any way.

A funny cute YA contemporary that talks about pie, friendship and how wonderful science works in our society.

Nora believes that her hypothesis (which is kissing a person for the first time will determine her soulmate) is true based on her grandmother and grandfather's love story. With this, Nora dates and kiss every guy she had met to prove that her theory is really true all along.

I like how Nora thinks. Isn't it awesome that she builds a kissing booth for her to prove her hypothesis in finding her one true love by kissing them. At the same time, the proceeds will go for taking care of the endangered tortoises.

For Eli, Nora's best friend is so cute and hilarious. I always look forward every time that it is his POV. I love how he contemplates on wooing Nora and how he plans all the things that he would do to prove Nora his love. I also like how he really cares with his brother, Ali. And a bonus thing to like and love him is his interest to learn how to make pies for Nora.

I love how their friendship experienced the ups and down the whole time. And how they managed to solve things by eating their favorite food which is a pie. The story, also showcase that having a member in the family with autism is bad. It shows that having a disability like this, doesn't stop you to live life to the fullest and experience the love and happiness that you could get by your family.

This one is cute Teens & YA story. Best friends to lovers love story. Nora and Eli are neighbors and best friends from the day Nora moves in the small Town. And for years Eli has a seacret crush on Nora it is just that Nora has her theory of the importance of the first kiss and her theory is impossible to break. But this time Eli is determined to prove Nora wrong and make her fall in love with him without the kiss. Nora is an interesting and very caring person. Eli is perfect for her and it is great to see them together in the end.I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

4.25 ★ – SATISFYINGLY SWEET AND DELICIOUSLY ADORABLE

I’m a romance nerd and ridiculously addicted to Entangled Teen (Crush) books. They’re delightful, cutesy, and so much fun to read. The First Kiss Hypothesis by Christina Mandelski is no exception and had me hooked from the beginning.

I LOVE friends to lovers stories and this one most definitely did not disappoint. The plot was entertaining, hilarious, and had plenty of sweet moments that made me smile like a dork. Nora’s theory about finding true love, while quite silly and something I would never do, was a unique concept that had me intrigued the entire time. Some parts of story were clichéd as expected and a bit cheesy, but who am I kidding… I LOVED IT ALL! And that ending… that final scene at the beach — gave me insane FEELS. I reread it over and over cause I could not let go of this lovely story and Nora and Eli.

Speaking of Nora and Eli, they were both frustrating at times, but totally made my heart melt. Through the ups and downs, the misunderstandings, and the drama, they made me feel like a teenager falling in love for the first time and I enjoyed every moment. They’re so stinkin’ cute together… specially when they’re bickering and challenging each other. And their chemistry – absolutely steamy and sweet with plenty of close call scenes that had me holding my breath. I don’t want to give too much away, but Nora and Eli’s love story is positively charming. Not to mention, it involves a lot of pies… lots and lots of yummy pies!

Oh and one more thing… Eli’s younger brother, Ari, was all kinds of adorable and cuteness. He added more heart to the story and I loved his interactions with Eli and Nora. He’s sweet, smart, and endearing in every way.

The First Kiss Hypothesis is satisfyingly sweet, deliciously adorable, and irresistibly swoony! I honestly had so much fun with this book and cannot wait to read whatever Christina Mandelski writes next. If you’re in the mood for a light hearted cute romance, then I highly suggest you pick this up!

I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
