This is my first time reading this author. The synopsis had me hooked.

As sweet as the romance is in this story, I didn't feel much of a connection between the two leads. Separately, Sage and Adam both intrigued me. I love single parent stories and this one had more heartache than most. I just wasn't sure why they wanted to be together except that they were both lonely. Also, just about any cliched bad thing you could think to happen did--fire, accidents, more accidents, crazy neighbors. Too many layers involved.

Good premise, just needed a little bit more for me.

Adam's story is one of second chances and redemption for committing a sin that was one born of a rage due to circumstance.
He is a man of god that kills a man for molesting a child, and rather than going to trial he pleads guilty and goes to prison to try to ease his guilt of his crime and to save the child of more trauma. Sage is a widow with two young children who needs help on her ranch, which turns up in the form of Adam who's looking for work after wandering from town to town after his release from prison. Together they form a friendship and a bond that leads them both on a path of a love and a passion that neither never thought they would ever find.
This story was so heartwarming and emotional, and I loved the main setting of it being on Sage's ranch. It was so endearing to read about how all the friends and neighbours in the community pull together when Sage is in need and how Adam steps up for Sage's children to be the father figure they need when it counts. There is also action and adventure in abundance and some mayhem and mishap along the way to finding their happiness.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and its characters that I couldnt help but fall in love with them. It was very well written and so good I couldn't stop reading it once Id started it.
Brilliant and well deserves 5 Stars!
