A very enjoyable read for me.~ The concept behind it intrigued me and I thought it very interesting in the delivery. As a reader who enjoys "behind the scenes" info on artists I admire, I think this book would satisfy any readers soul who wants to know what others are reading. My favorite part was the insight it gives on how the books people love truly shape who they become. I received a free copy of this book to review from Netgalley and chose to submit a fair and honest review.

I loved reading this book as a digital ARC, but I have recently ordered my own copy so that I can appreciate the photos better. Any bibliophile can appreciate the voyeuristic pleasure that comes from browsing someone else's bookshelf. Imagine being able to see your favorite author's bookshelf. How would you feel? That is the feeling that stays with you page after page of this too-short book.

I really feel that UNPACKING MY LIBRARY is a great conversational piece. I wasn't familiar with the artists prior to reading it, but am an art lover, so as I got to each new artist, I took the time to Google their work. I found that the artists whose work I was most drawn to had libraries that reflected my own, and had favorite/most influential books that were similar to my own. I was even able to look at one artist's book choices and send a message to a friend with mutual book interests and say "Hey, have you heard of this artist?" and they had the same response of being drawn to that artist's work. I would buy this book just to see if others around me had the same response; as I said, it's a great conversational piece if nothing else.

Unpacking My Library: Artists and Their Books is exactly what you would think it is. The readers are taken into the world of the artists and shown their book shelves. Seeing what titles and authors influenced the artists allows the reader insight. This book shows us another side to the artists in a lovely way.

Thank you Netgalley and Yale University Press for a digital copy of this book. I am rating it Five Stars because it does exactly what it was supposed to do. It was very well done. I would look into the other volumes in this series. Recommendation is likely.
