Lucy and Gideon's history is a bit messy to say the least. They haven't seen each other in 2 years and now Lucy needs his help with scoring a husband. I could just feel and imagine the struggle it took Gideon to agree to this crazy demand with him being in love with her for so long.

Their chemistry was smoking hot. I really like how patient he was with her and his determination to bring down all of her walls to see him for who he is.

Never have I ever felt those words strike a chord in me like I did this time. I guess it has something to do with being in a similar place a life time ago, but those two little words had seal the deal for me; I loved it – it's as simple as that!

I can't wait to see what mess Roman cooks up in the next book :)

can somebody tell me what the cover dude's name is, asking for a friend-

ANYWAY,

WELP I expected more from Katee because I love her books but this one didn't do it for me. I couldn't care less for the characters, and I didn't feel their chemistry at all. I'm sad because there was so much potential and yet it fell flat for me.

Will keep an eye out for Roman's book, tho.

The feminist in me rebelled at the setup of Make Me Want. The author has a talent for creating strong heroines who hold their own, so I trusted her to make it right. While Lucy Baudin isn’t Robert’s typical heroine, she’s only submissive to the sensual teachings of the hero. And, Lawd, is he ever a good teacher!

While I admired his bedroom skills, Gideon and I didn’t get along well at all. He’s too much of an arrogant, controlling alpha for me, and surprisingly, a little whiney towards the end. When you want to smack the hero instead of kiss him, ya know he’s just not the one for you.

Make Me Want is an incredibly hot story, which is totally typical for a Katee Robert book. It’s also a quick read and definitely worth adding to your bookshelf, especially if you’re fond of Gideon’s type of hero.

I was given an advance copy by the publisher via NetGalley and chose to write an honest review.

Helllllooooooo Katee Robert.

Welcome! Glad to meet ya.

Sorry for the serenade but… THIS GIRL IS ON FIIIIIIIYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Still. While reading this I considered dialing a friend, because HHHHHAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLPPPPPPPPP!!!

Reading Make Me Want I more than once wished for a warning label and maybe my own personal freezer. Someone should put a blast chiller option on kindles. I needed one.

What prompted me to click the request button are:

(a) The dude on the cover kinda looks like Carter Dane so my first thought was, “why is CD on the cover of some MF smutticilicicousness?” which quickly segued into a brief episode of wish fulfillment along the lines of, “has CD decided to widen the playing field?” Then I expanded the photo and realized my mistake.

*epic sad face is epic*

Congrats, Alex Mecum!

*fake smile*
*grumbles*

(b) The main character’s name is Gideon!

What? I have a name kink. Don’t judge.

This Gideon is eerily reminiscent of another (also slightly Neanderthalish) Gideon I’ve lusted over read before and while Sylvia Day might take exception to the similarities, my thoughts are more akin to…

The story itself is not groundbreaking and rife with non/miscommunication with a heaping of martyr syndrome that I loathe. Lucy is up for a promotion at her good ole boys law firm and won’t get it unless someone puts a ring on it. Gideon’s a friend of her ex-fiancé and was once hers too, so that coupled with his reputation as a skilled headhunter, leads her to hire him to find her a suitable husband. His reputation as a sex gawd leads her to ask him for “lessons” on how to have the HILLY DILLY amazingly since her ex told her she was a bad lay. Can you say projecting, boys and girls?

Regardless, the boning is top-notch! On the couch, on a conference table AT A FANCY SCHMANCY CLUB, a naughty video chat, in a lingerie dressing room and they did make it to the bedroom a couple times. Gideon’s also on the bossy/toppy side too! I mean…

Seriously, this thing should come with a complimentary box of wipes, a pack of cigs and some Gatorade.

I will most definitely be reading the next in this series. One-handed, but still. Now that I know what I’m in for I will be prepared like the devoted Girl Scout I am to see Roman getting his swerve on!

Recommend to… hells bells, you know who you are.

The fantasy comes to life. Katee Robert has a knack for allowing readers to live vicariously through her imagination. Whether naughty, dangerous or heartbreaking, her characters call to the little voice inside yearning to escape. Make Me Want is a passionate tango of lust, love and liberation. One woman's quest to unlock her inner vixen, brings her heart's desire. HOT!

A successful lawyer hoping to make partner by getting married to appease her conservative bosses, Lucy Baudin has few options. After a devastating breakup, she hadn't dated in two years. Her former friend Gideon Novak is a headhunter, so she hires him for a deceptively simple job: find her a husband and teach her to regain her confidence in the bedroom.

This is a steamy friends-to-lovers trope, so fans of this will be delighted. It's clear from the outset that Lucy and Gideon are perfect for each other, even with the ridiculous setup and their emotional hangups. Of course, Gideon will get jealous when Lucy dates the men he finds for her. Of course, he will feel as though he had taken advantage of the situation. Of course, Lucy will compare her dates to Gideon. Of course, they will confront her ex, who has no redeeming features in the novel whatsoever. It's how we get there that's the fun part, and why this trope is such a fun one to play with. Lucy is a likable and relatable character, confident in her profession but not in her personal life. We can all feel that way sometimes, which is why this happily ever after tale works.

I absolutely adore Katee Robert's books as they always deliver. It diesnt matter what genre she writes in (contemporary/erotica, suspense or mafia) I WILL read it. So when I saw she was writing a book for Harlequin's new racy Dare line, I could.not jump on this book fast enough! I loved Gideon and lucy. I thought their chemistry was hot and sexy and their connection intense. I could not get enough!

Lucy and Gideon have a history together. As the bestfriend of Lucy's ex-fiance, Gideon has been personally connected to Lucy for a long time. But when Lucy professionally contacts him for his headhunting abilities, it breaks all the rules. He must find this workaholic a husband and in the interim teach her all the ways to rock her future husband's world in bed. But when emotions get involved and lines get cross can Gideon and Lucy realize that what they giveaways wanted has been right in front of them all along?

I loved this story. I loved that their passion was so fiery and that the more time they a spent with one another they realized how great the other was. I did get frustrated with Lucy at times however as I felt she was so in her head all the time overthinking things. Likewise, Gideon's aboutface came out of nowhere and was SO random that I actually went back to see what I missed. But all in all It hought this was such a fantastic spin on a mathmaker/friends to lovers story and honestly hope we get Roman's story next!!

I would like to thank Netgalley and Harlequin for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review! Bravo! 4 stars!

My first Katee Robert read but won't be my last. Make Me Want is the first in the Make Me series and a great friends to lovers story with a twist. Gideon is a headhunter, one of the best. He has known Lucy for years, although it has been several since they've spoken. Her ex did a number on her and Gideon was the one to break the news to her. He felt like he needed to give her some space. When she contacts him to find her a husband and "help" her in other areas of her life, will he take the opportunity to finally get the girl he always wanted? Or will he do what he was hired to do and walk away. I loved the steam factor in this story and look forward to reading the next in the series.

Make Me Want is a hot, quick read. I readily admit that it has a ridiculous premise but I enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

This is the story of Lucy Baudin and Gideon Novak. Lucy is a lawyer who has it all in her professional life. She is headed to the top but realizes that in the eyes of the top partners of the firm has a stigma about single women. She calls Gideon, who is a successful headhunter, to help her find a suitable husband. Lucy also introduces another condition with the arrangement. Gideon is seen as a ladies man with much experience in the bed. She needs him to mentor her on how to satisfy a man since she was cheated on by her ex-fiancé, Jeff. Jeff stated that she was not enough in the bed. Gideon agrees to help due to the fact he feels guilty and thinks he is responsible for breaking off her engagement to his best friend.

Even though the reader knows the characters are going to end up together and the story seems predictable, Gideon's character ramps the story to a 5 star rating and beyond. He is selfless. The reader can really tell that he cares for Lucy and only wants to make her happy, even if that means agreeing to her foolish plan.

I liked how the author made Lucy authentic. She was a strong woman when it came to her business persona, but she was like any other person in her personal life. She has insecurities about her worth, even when she had a man standing in front of her telling her how beautiful and awesome she was. It showed how light could be overpowered by a dark shadow in the corner of a person's mind. Fear and doubt controlled every choice she had made since Jeff.

I loved the chemistry between Lucy and Gideon. Gideon had wanted Lucy the day he saw her, but his best friend got to he first. Through her plan, he had to make her see he was the right man for her, even though she was trying to deny the chemistry between them. I like how the author evolved their relationship. The little things they did that a couple would were cute and sexy. While he was teaching her, he was allowing her to teach him about what was in his heart for her.

I loved this story. I gravitate toward stories where a man is willing to teach a woman sexually and let her explore what she likes without asking for anything in return. I truly devoured this book. It had me singing and dancing. Made me want to call me a friend...

This was a good, fast moving storyline that was very entertaining.

The main characters were equally good and the detail in the story was excellent.

It kept me engaged throughout and I really enjoyed it - another great book by Katee Robert - 4 stars from me for this one!

This was a fun and sexy story! I love the friends to lovers trope, and this was a new and different twist on that.

Lucy Baudin is an excellent lawyer, and she loves her job. But she's managed to lose herself in that job for the last 2 years, following the nasty break-up of her engagement. She's decided she needs to get married to secure partnership at her law firm, as some of the old-timers at the top still have outdated ideas about single women. So, she calls on her friend Gideon for help, though she hasn't seen him in quite some time.

Gideon Novak is a headhunter, and he's the best in the business. When Lucy approaches him about using his skills to fill the position of her husband, he's totally thrown. But, he owes her, so he agrees to do it. He also agrees to her additional stipulation, regarding brushing up on her sexual skills. As if any man wouldn't be thrilled to have her as she is. He's had feelings for her for a long, long time. But he's not the keeping kind, and he feels Lucy deserves better. So he has to take what he can get, and keep the memories. He has no idea how hard that will turn out to be. Not to mention that picturing her with another man makes him ragey.

Gideon and Lucy's chemistry was off the charts once they got together. I loved seeing their interactions, and watching as they realized that there was no way they could keep things casual between them. They each had their own reasons for the separation of their friendship, but they were so happy to be back in each other's lives, and that helped to blur the lines of their feelings even more. Though Gideon makes a bonehead decision, I like how they both fought for what they wanted, and that it wasn't solely on Gideon to make the move toward making things right.

I really enjoyed Lucy's sister as a side character. Her book isn't next, but I'm hoping she'll get one, because I would love to know more about her, and her dating exploits. Gideon's best friend Roman was an interesting character as well, and his book IS next. I'm definitely intrigued by him, and I'm very much looking forward to his story.

I highly recommend this book for a quick, steamy read, with well written characters that really make you feel for them. I truly enjoyed it so much.

After the end of her relationship / engagement two years ago, Lucy Baudin put all her focus on her job as a lawyer trying, and for the most part succeeding, to overshadow the blows to her self-esteem served up by her ex. Now, she's in a position to make partner, but her personal life needs a bit of a lift. So she hires headhunter Gideon Novak, professionally, to find her a husband, and personally to help her gain her confidence back in the bedroom.

Gideon has had a thing for Lucy since she dated, and almost married, one of his best friends. After that relationship ended as usually happens during break-ups, so did the friendship between Gideon and Lucy. The last thing he ever expected after a two year silence is to have Lucy asking him to find her a husband ASAP. But what throws him even more is the request to teach her some skills in the bedroom. Will he be able to keep his personal and professional feelings for Lucy separate? When it becomes very clear that his old feeling for Lucy haven't gone anywhere, Gideon will have to speak up this time, or watch Lucy marry someone else.

Katee Robert certainly packs a lot of heat into a relatively short read. The sex between Lucy and Gideon, that connection they have, is so hot. It conveys a world feelings. I thought that Katee Robert did a great job of balancing the fact that these are two people who started out at friends (even though Gideon has had feelings for Lucy all along) and then had a lengthy separation, pick back up and add a deepening layer to their former relationship status. Katee Robert also does a great job in showing what harsh words from those we are close to can do to us mentally and emotionally, and the fact that sometimes those scars aren't easy to fade. It's clear in the way Lucy, at first, hesitates when it comes to being intimate.

What didn't work so well for me was the fact that Gideon was tasked with both finding her a husband - like a business transaction, using his headhunter profession aka playing the "matchmaker" - and acting as her "friends-with-benefits" in helping her gain back her confidence in the bedroom. It was just too much. Instead, it unfortunately came across for me a little more preposterous. The conflict Gideon faces could have just as easily been conveyed using one trope or the other. For me, utilizing both was not necessary to the connection between Gideon and Lucy.

Besides that, I really enjoyed the book. It's a quick read and, as mentioned above, full of quite the steaminess. There's already a couple of characters I can see taking up the mantle in the next book(s). I'll definitely be checking back and seeing where things go.

I’ve always loved Katee Robert’s books and this was as usual a very enjoyable read.

What I liked:
* Good storyline, not perfect but good.
* Well described characters and secondary characters that’s described in a way that makes me crave their story too.
* No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
* A good amount of dialogues
* The way Gideon helped Lucy get over her insecurities
* Great love scenes
* A story written with lots of feelings making me feel included in the events

If you like a good romance with happy ending and without to much drama, I recommend this strong 4 star story.

This story is hot, steamy and fabulous, this one will have you grabbing a fan and a tall glass of water as hero Gideon Novak sets out to help friend Lucy Baudin find a husband and give her lessons in seduction or does Lucy end up seducing Gideon, this is a one sitting read you will not want to put it down.

Gideon works as a head hunter and is very good at his job he is not a party animal he has a few friends and when one from the past, one that he has never forgotten asks to meet with him and then asks him to help her find a husband of convenience and to help her with the finer points of sex and seduction he is gobsmacked, you see his feelings for his friend have always been strong and he feels a lot of guilt over what happened with her ex one of his friends so all he can do is say yes even though he knows he should be saying no.

Lucy has thrown herself into her job as a defence attorney after the break-up with her fiancé, she pulled herself away from her friends and has not had sex, but now she wants a promotion at work and being married will help, who better than to help but her old friend Gideon and the sizzling heat that sparks between them is not to be pushed away, as Lucy becomes the seductress and her fantasies are met.

This is a delicious story that had me turning the pages, I fell for Gideon right from the start he is so caring and gorgeous and will go out of his way to protect Lucy and it was taking a lot for him to control his feelings for her and seeing him open up to her in so many ways was awesome, and Lucy wow she is a lot stronger than she thinks and her prowess in the bedroom is a strong as in the courtroom I loved seeing her stand up to Gideon. MS Robert has written a story with fabulous dialogue and a connection between Gideon and Lucy that will leave the reader smiling, I highly recommend this one.

[I recieved a free advance review copy by Harlequin via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review]
My heart is soaring. This book was a perfect read for my hopeless romantic self.
Lucy works at a law firm and she’s got a position just under the CEO. She’s basically married to her job. For work-related purposes, she decides to contact her ex-husband’s (ex) best friend, also a headhunter, Gideon, to hunt her some suitors... Guys willing to marry her on such short notice. And Lucy asks Gideon for a ‘friends with benefits’ arrangement.
This is when shit goes down, obviously.
I love it when the two characters in this situation start catching feelings and realize that their relationship has more to it than just physical attraction.
This is a perfect read if you’re looking for something swoon-worthy with a couple of laughs and tears on the side.

This book was good, but predictable. All romance novels have the same plot lately it seems. I had higher expectations for this one.

My first reads by Katee Robert were her O'Malley series, while Make Me Want is quite different, it still has the same connections and steamyness. Lucy's crazy idea to hire a headhunter to find her a husband was interesting and challenging given that she asked an old friend, Gideon, to do it. Gideon was definitely having a harder time with it given that he was the one that told Lucy that her boyfriend was cheating on her. I thought Lucy and Gideon were a perfect match and I thought that the story between them, past friendship, long time pining and a lame ass ex were well down. Make Me Want had just the right amount of sexytimes too.

I can't wait to read Roman's story. He definitely intrigued me!

Review forthcoming on All About Romance

Make Me Want is one of the first books from the Harlequin Dare line, a new imprint that is meant to be hotter than their others. Since I’m a fan of Katee Robert I was looking forward to what she could bring to this line, as well as seeing what to expect from the other books. If they’re all like Make Me Want, you can expect the Dare line to be short and steamy, but maybe light on deep emotions or complex plots.

Lucy Baudin wants to get married to advance her career, because she thinks her law firm looks down on her for being single. She decides to enlist her ex-husband’s friend Gideon Novak to play her matchmaker. Gideon is actually a headhunter, but Lucy is confident he can transfer those skills to finding her an eligible bachelor that would be interested in settling down to a sort of marriage of convenience.

There’s more to her request, however. Lucy’s ex belittled her sexual skills and cheated on her. A fact that was revealed to her by none other than Gideon. The end of her marriage let her feeling insecure about sex, and she knows she will need to overcome those feelings in order to succeed in a second marriage. She decides to ask Gideon to give her, for lack of a better term, sex lessons.

Okay, so this part was weird to me. Robert brought her usual skill at writing sex scenes, so everything that happens between Lucy and Gideon in bed (or on the couch, or in a dressing room) is hot. However, I found the premise of her asking him for sex lessons so flimsy that I couldn’t get past it. I like the idea of the matchmaker falling for his client. It worked well in Heartstrings and Diamond Rings by Jane Graves. I would have been fine with Gideon, who has been crazy about Lucy since before she married his friend anyway, trying to set her up with potential husbands and floundering because he wants her for himself. They still could have gotten it on just as much out of pure wanting. The whole idea that he needed to give her sex lessons and neither of them would catch feelings was too absurd. Especially since she was somewhat inexperienced and had been abstinent for a couple years prior.

This left me feeling conflicted about Make Me Want. I liked Gideon fine. I liked the matchmaking. The writing quality was good enough. Lucy is an insecure mess but that kind of character can work in the right circumstances. I just couldn’t ever get on board with the overarching premise, and that’s a killer. It made the plot seem too thin in between sex scenes, and the attachment Lucy and Gideon shared too forced, when it could have sprung naturally from shared attraction and friendship.

This was a quick read, and one that I was eager to come back to each time I could. I zipped through the book in a few days without trouble, so I’ll look for more from Robert and the Dare line. I just think I wanted more oomph from the story. I really like books where one or both characters have been pining for the other for years and they finally see their moment to give in. Make Me Want had that, I just think it would be more impactful without the contrived sex lessons concept.

I’m interested to see what else Harlequin Dare puts out. It does have a higher heat level and more sex scenes than the other Harlequin titles I’m familiar with, but I would say that the sex is pretty vanilla compared to what you see in other high-heat books being put out by other publishers. It may be naughty for Harlequin, but plenty of readers won’t be at all scandalized by Make Me Want. The next book from Robert is Gideon’s friend Roman’s story, so I do look forward to seeing if it satisfies a bit better than this title.
