So when I picked up Ruled, I was expecting another regular MC romance, but I have to admit, I was a little confused in parts of this book. Evie Kent (our heroine) is a children's princess party character, and rides around in a pink RV, and her brother is in a MC club. But when rival club members turn up looking for her brother Rocker, she ends up flirting with Rev (aka Jaxson) instead of staying away from him, or going straight to her brothers club for protection. And there was many other little things that didn't quite fit.

I will say, I did like Rev's character, he is cocky, loyal and determined, Evie's I struggled with, and her brothers character I didn't like at all. I would have like to have seen more interaction between all the other characters like the club and Carlie.

I give Ruled 3 stars.

This was a fun and quick read and definitely very erotic. Part of Harlequin's newest line, DARE, it definitely pushes the romance into erotic territory. Evie and Rev are definitely polar opposites. He's a former Navy Seal turned biker for an MC. She's a princess party planning coordinator. He's not ready to commit, she's all about commitment. One thing they do agree upon, their red hot lust for each other is enough to burn every available space they happen to indulge their desire on. There's a bit of an added danger with Evie's brother getting involve with a drug cartel. But for this two, it's just more foreplay. Ruled is also a lot funny with the witty bantering between the main leads. It's definitely a definite page turner with the sexy being no holds barred.

I really tried to get into this book, but it was not an easy read for me.

The action between the motorcycle clubs was almost nonexistent and what was mentioned, lacked the depth of knowledge that I've seen in other books.

Rev and Evie's relationship seemed to start out okay, but Evie's constant theme of "I don't date bikers" was overshadowed by her inability to say "no" to Rev.

The ending to me seemed rushed and I'm not sure I'm invested enough to read the second book in this series.

I completely enjoyed this story. It was quick moving and fast paced with lots and lots of steamy goodness. I found Eve a bit all over the place pushing Rev away, then pulling him back. Rev's character was quite interesting; he claims not to be a nice guy, and proves that chasing after prey is a fun pastime that gets his motor running more than once. He's sworn to protect Eve and ends up kidnapping her to make an exchange with Eve's brother, who's in a rival MC. Eve is sort of clueless to her brother's dealings and defends him at every turn. It's up to Rev to prove to Evie that her brother isn't the innocent she thinks him.

There are some weird character lobotomies at times... a scene in particular in the bathroom where Eve's being held, kidnapped by Rev. I'm not sure Rev would trust a hostage's mouth in certain places! For me, the two do have some pretty good chemistry and a lot of "I want him but shouldn't" goes on, which I enjoy. So all in all, I was easily drawn in and entertained.

I have to say this book had a lot of potential and I did enjoy it. However, the plot was just okay. It had some really weak parts that could've been beefed up and really grabbed us more, what with the girl in the princess dresses who hates bikers, yet has a big weak spot for that same type of man.

Then there was all the biker club drama that was sort of built up to be something huge... and it was a letdown.

A lot of the book could've been better with just more meat. I mean, I certainly felt the sparks between the main characters, but that was the only thing that kept me going. But at times, even their relationship felt forced with rushed feelings. And the end, it sort of came out of left field for me because it really didn't feel like they'd reached that point before then.

And last but not least, there were many, many times when the story had errors – like putting on a 'raincoat' only to put on another one as if it hadn't been donned the first time half a page later or clothes that magically disappeared.

Ruled is one of the first releases from the new Harlequin Dare imprint, which is supposed to deliver the sexy, heat filled romances that fans of this publisher will be missing since the Blaze line was discontinued. Great news! Even better? The Dare line will turn up that heat level a bit by offering readers what are supposed to be their sexiest reads yet.

If I had to describe this book in two words I would probably say sweet (Evie) and dirty (Rev).

The heroine, Evie Kent, runs a princess party business where she and her employees dress up like beautiful princesses, slay the dragon and give the partying youngsters a great time. She has come a long way from the teenager who watched her father get taken away by the police and jailed on a weapons charge. Since that time she’s tried to do her best by her younger brother, Rocker, started a business, and seems to be little by little getting ahead in the world. Rocker has followed in their father’s footsteps and is living the MC life. The Black Dogs pretty much own him, and even though he is a silent partner in her party business, he very rarely shows up for meetings. She’s worried about him, and she should be, especially since Rocker is involved in illegal activities. Which she doesn’t find out until a rival MC club member shows up out of nowhere wanting information on her brother’s whereabouts.

Rev, also known as Jaxon Brady, former SEAL and current member of the Hard Riders MC, is looking for Rocker and confronts Evie when she is working a party. He knows Rocker is running drugs through his club’s territory and he is determined to make it stop. He is immediately attracted to Evie, but he only expects to get her into bed and then move on when the business with her brother is over. Then he gets to know her, and she quickly moves from the temporary category to the I must protect her at all costs category.

Evie and Rev have a typical MC relationship that I’ve seen in so many other books. They get involved pretty quickly, although with the category length, I expected that. Their relationship is fast and dirty, with Evie putting on the breaks for a bit and expecting Rev to prove himself as boyfriend/dating material, which was refreshing. Of course, with Rev and her brother on rival MCs I knew nothing would be easy and Rev would have to make a choice between her and his club. And I was right. Something happens to force the situation between the clubs to a confrontation and Evie is caught square in the middle. Did I like it? Not particularly, but I expected what happened to happen, so I wasn’t surprised.

In the end I enjoyed this one, but I had a few issues. I am interested in reading the next book in the series, and I will be picking up more from this new Harlequin Imprint. Final Grade- C

Favorite Quote:

“Kiss me the way you’d like to have your pussy kissed,” he offers. “Promise you one thing, Evie– I’m a fast learner.”
“But I don’t like it,” I point out with the careful logic of the slightly inebriated “And we’re just friends. Friends don’t go down on friends.”

I disliked this book. I didn't like either one of the main characters. I read this after reading 3 other DARE books and I liked those a whole lot better (one of them is out today Off Limits, by Clare Connelly, and I strongly recommend it).

After growing up with a father that dedicated his life to a motorcycle gang, Evie Kent is all to familiar with what that kind of life it brings, and means for anyone involved, and she wants no part of it. She spent years caring for her younger brother because her father was always too busy stirring up trouble with the gang, and she tried hard to show him that a life in the gang isn't something he should want for himself, but unfortunately the life found him, and has now gotten him into trouble. And now his troubles have made their way to her front door, in the form of a sexy biker from a rival gang, who is wanting to provide her protection. As much as she hates the life, she can't seem to ignore the instant connection they have, and before long that connection spawns into a full blown affair... and her plan to stay away from motorcycle gang members goes to the wayside.

Ruled is an erotic little page turner that is sure to captivate romance readers attention, and inspire many dirty little thoughts. With it's action packed story line, toe curling kinky moments, and a few delicate moments too, it's a can't miss read. I really enjoyed reading Evie and Jaxon's story, their chemistry was electric, at times you could literally feel the sparks of sexual tension between them leap off the pages! Highly recommend this one, it's an unputdownable tale that is sure to satisfy!

This book was ok but it felt forced and I didn't really "click" with the characters. I don't think I will be continuing into this series

While I really enjoyed a lot about this book, I was very let down with the lack of excitement. Here we have 2 rival MC's and the drug cartels, I mean that is the perfect set up for some seriously intense drama. But sadly it was very lacking for me. Such a build up and then nothing really happens. I really enjoyed the characters, Eve and Rev. I didn't even mind that it was sort of a meet and fall into bed kind of deal. Rev, fun to get to know. I wish we would have gotten into his military background a bit more. Why mention the fact that he has trouble sleeping in the same bed as someone and not let us know more about it? He is very dedicated to his MC club, he is all about the "it's club business." Never letting Eve into the fold. Eve was loyal to a fault, to her brother Rocker. They were everything to each other and she would die protecting him. Rocker on the other had was a jerk and into trouble with the cartel., hence Rev keeping watch over Eve,, even if he was using her.

This story had great bones, I feel it missed the mark on a BIG moment, in a BIG way. It had its moments of fun, the Princess party RV made me laugh everytime I read about it.

The Rebel vs. The Princess

Complete opposites who share the same burning passion!

Jaxon Brady of the Hard Riders MC has sworn to protect Evie Kent from a rival gang. His hard muscles and black leather motorcycle boots are a sharp contrast to the girlie dresses Evie wears for her successful party-planning business. Their instant attraction is magnetic, and their lust keeps them glued to each other’s side…but is it a dangerous distraction?

My Thoughts

Not a book for everyone but for those of us who enjoy the intrigue that MC life holds it may just be the ticket.

Jaxon Brady/Rev finds himself for the first time torn between his total loyalty to the Hard Riders MC when he and Evie Kent cross paths and start a relationship that neither one expected to be more than hooking up for hot sex.

Although these two are from different worlds they soon find themselves ignoring those details and taking a chance with each other as friends and lovers. That may come to a screeching halt sooner than later when Rev's MC and Evie's brothers MC decide to get involved.

Filled with the delightful image of Evie in her full Princess regalia while entertaining a group of giggling girls or boys for their birthdays to the horror of flying bullets and multiple brushes with danger this story has the needed elements to make it an easy to enjoy read. With of course the added bonus of having the two main characters butt heads with each other all the way to the ending as neither one has an ounce of give when it comes to what should and should not be withheld within a committed relationship.

For Evie she has to overcome a lifelong aversion to all things MC, stemming from childhood because of her own experience thanks to her father and mother. Her other worry of course is fear for her younger brother as Rocker is more like a son than a sibling.

Jaxon/Rev has to make up his mind whether his MC is still the most important constant in his life or whether Evie is worth defying his brothers for so their relationship can truly become solid the way they both would like it to be.

The thing for me when finding a new MC read is my liking of other works of a particular author, the synopsis sounds like the story has some interesting twists and once start the book it has more to offer than just sex scenes alone with very little content that follows any kind of cohesive plot.

I found all three points in this first book of author Anne Marsh as have other contemporary genre penned by her found it to be exactly the thing to entertain me from start to finish.

Looking forward to getting to follow the series when next book becomes available for review, I hope.

Wonderful romp through the lives of bikers and the women they love. Erotic romance with plenty of heat that’ll melt your panties. Rev and Evie ride a rough and tough of a budding romance with tons of adventures. Thoroughly enjoyed this read!
Biker clubs consist of loyalty to the club and its members no matter what. Rev finds himself torn between this loyalty and Evie. What happens when Evie’s brother belongs to a rival gang and makes a decision that can spell danger to himself, his sister Evie, and the town? There lies the premise... how can they possibly have a future when everything conspires against them.

WOW two complete opposites go head to head in this steamy, hot, erotic story, bought together through rival MC gangs they are now egging each other on and losing their hearts to each other even if it was the last thing they thought could possibly happen.

Evie Kent runs a company that plans and holds kids party specifically little girls princess parties, she works hard after building herself up from a pretty lousy childhood she has a young brother whom she has bought up and still feels responsible for, only Rocker has followed in their father’s footsteps and is in a MC club and is in trouble. This brings in Rev, Jaxon Brady from and rival MC and the sparks fly.

Rev loves his MC family and they are everything to him he is tough and an ex SEAL so when he meets the gorgeous Evie while trying to fix a wrong, his blood heats up this woman gets under his skin in no time at all, and he is determined to have her one way or another.

Evie is strong, bossy and a smart arse at times she has an answer for everything and Rev wants her and her body and he will not give up, his leathers are defiantly a match for her princess outfits and his Harley for her pink RV, the sex is hot and steamy as is the dialogue, as they both journey to a HEA that has lots of ups and downs, there is danger and there is lust and passion. I am enjoying this new line from Harlequin and can recommend this one if you like your stories with a bit of heat and a punch.

I kind of have a love/hate thing going on with Ruled. Ever since watching Sons of Anarchy I've loved the bad boy motorcycle thing and I love that in Ruled Marsh did not make all things perfect and wonderfully clean for the Hard Riders (though they're cleaner the most). I also appreciated that Evie's brother wasn't exactly a shining star. Rev was also great, and even though in real life it wouldn't work for me at all, it worked in the book.

The problem I had was with the ending. Things went to hell in a hand basket and then all of a sudden Evie was 100% on board? I'm not buying it. It frustrated me because it didn't seem in Evie's character at all. So that part let me down a bit, but overall I did enjoy the story and found Evie and Rev to be likeable and they had a lot of sparks flying.

This book was just okay.
What I loved: Can't say I really loved any thing about it. I definitely didn't love the characters, they seemed to have a connection out of nowhere that just didn't make much sense to me.
What I liked: The whole book was okay. I liked it all enough to finish it.
What I hated: There was a lot of cheesiness in this book.

In the end...it was okay. Didn't love it, but didn't hate it either. Not my favorite of the DARE books....felt like this one really pushed the boundaries of that imprint.

Ruled is Book 1 in the Hard Riders MC series and introduces us to Jaxon. A promising start to this new series I liked Jaxon and Evie and look forward to reading more

WOW!!!! This book is excellent. I have to say I was a little torn going in not sure what to think. This is my first Dare and I knew I was going to miss Blaze. Well let me tell you Anne Marsh did not disappoint. You get absolute fantasy life. Why need role play when you can pick up this book and get straight torn up with hot scenes!

An MC VP and a Woman who throws princess birthday parties. You are talking complete polar opposites. All I can say is opposites attract. This book for sure shows it. If you are a little hesitant grab yours today. I am telling you, you wont put it down.

This book is a very enjoyable read for a lazy afternoon. I really liked the idea of Evie being a princess party planner. Very cute and original. The bad boy Rev is a great character also. What I would have liked is more of the story. Just when things started to heat up, it was done. I needed more. Do I want to read the next book about Vik? Definitely.

If you love MC romances you'll love Rev and Evie's story. Evie's brother is in a rival MC and that means Evie is in trouble. Rev has to decide if she is his girl or his hostage. Lots of red hot romance!

3 1/2 stars
I am not a huge MC reader or lover for that matter as I feel they lack in the actual romance department, but this synopsis intrigued me enough to request an ARC. Basically this is about the bada$$ MC biker dude who meets a princess. (not literally, she dresses up like one for her party business)
This is an enjoyable albeit very quick read that actually left me wanting more from this series. Which is actually really good for a non MC reader. It is complete with the danger and drama one expects from MC books but it was also kind of fun with a bit of romance tossed in for good measure. I liked the relationship between Rev and Evie, especially the way he protected her. They are so different yet I think really good for each other.
I would definitely read more from Anne.

I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I had a hard time with this book. I really liked the synopsis and the first chapter showed a lot of promise. I liked the idea of this woman who does princess parties and how her life runs parallel to a biker club. The connection between the main characters just appeared out of no where. They barely talked before they were together. I felt that the sexual chemistry was off the charts and most of the book seemed to focus on that and not the plot, which made for a struggling read. I would have liked her brother to be a more involved plot line in the book. His story is the main reason for all the trouble the main characters find themselves in but it felt rushed and mostly glossed over in parts. Overall, I felt this book was heavy on the sex and light on the story.
