I decided to try this book since I was given a glimpse of the excerpt from BookishFirst and it is my first harlequin dare novel.

OFF LIMITS was a sexy, hot and steamy romance between Jack Grant who is a billionaire and Gemma Picton, who is from high society but working as Jack's general counsel. For two years Gemma has watched Jack seduce women and has fantasized about him but knew that he was definitely "off limits." Jack has noticed Gemma and wonders why she has never tried to seduce him. She has woken him up for meetings and seen him naked in his bed more than once but she has never stepped over that line. This line does get crossed finally and their passion is explosive. Sex in the boardroom, at a function, no place is off limits. Jack is very dominate and Gemma becomes submissive to him and can't say no.

Jack has a dark side that Emma finally unravels and they each help the other heal. For Jack, he still grieves losing his young wife Lucy to cancer and for Gemma, it is her parents and wanting to forget that she is "Lady" Gemma Picton.

Definitely a book I would recommend.

This is my second Harlequin Dare novel and dare I say, this was hotter than the last one. The story-line is intense and the chemistry is off the charts. From the moment you start reading this book, you are sucked into Jack and Gemma's story. Jack is wild, hot and off limits since he's Gemma's boss. Jack knows he should stay away, but he can't seem to get Gemma out of his head. And when Gemma seems to want the same things that Jack wants....lets just say, all bets are off.

I loved Jack's character. He was broody and sexy and had his own baggage. And Gemma...Such a hard worker. She tried to fight the attraction she felt for Jack, but it just seemed to be too impossible. The sparks were there and these two just couldn't deny them.

Off Limits was a quick and easy read for me; definitely one that you could finish in one sitting. It hit all the marks I was looking for in a quick and sexy read, with just the right amount of hotness and romance.

When I first started reading this book, I felt like I walked into a story that was already in motion. I was confused and had to start over.

Gemma Picton works for billionaire playboy Jack Grant. She is his in-house counsel, people come to her for answers, that's how well she works with Jack. But knowing Jack's private life, she's sworn she would never be one of Jack's conquests.

Jack Grant, billionaire, widower, playboy has never slept with the same woman twice. He has one night of pleasure and gives them cab fare for the ride home. The one woman he really wants is off-limits to him (in his mind at least) is Gemma. He knows that he would hurt her, and he refuses to do so.

When the chemistry between finally explodes, Jack can't get enough of her and Gemma falls in love with him. But love isn't an option for Jack, so she tries to guard her heart. Until she can't.

This is a fun, sexy, steamy romance to start and finish during a lazy weekend. The author will introduce you to billionaire sexy Irishman, Jack Grant. He’s been very successful in his business life and not so much in his love life. Although he does manwhore his way through hordes of women. Gemma Picton, Jack’s in house counsel, has been developing feelings for her boss and she tries pretty hard not to feel those feelings. She knows something bad happened with Jack’s wife, but she doesn’t push because that part of his life is closed off to everyone. The reader will be along for the ride with Gemma as she discovers his secrets. Gemma also has some secrets of her own that deal with her family. It is important for Gemma to use her education to help other people and she is really good at what she does. Gemma is very career driven and successful. Her grandma plays a very sweet and funny secondary character and as a reader, I was rooting for Grandma to make Gemma listen to her advice.

There is a lot of sex in this book, but it does not take away from the plot and the romance. The reader will be drawn into the story, trying to figure out what makes Jack and Gemma finally change their minds about love. Their chemistry is off the charts and this makes for a perfect HEA read.

ARC received from NetGalley for an honest review. This is the story of Jack, a billionaire and Gemma, his assistant. He is a good looking man whose wife died, leaving him a one night stand cliche. That being said I really liked the progression of the story and the writing style. There were a few editing errors which I'm sure will get addressed before the final release. It was a good length with no repetitions of feelings to prolong the story..

Whoa! This book was full of some serious graphic sexy times. And it was nearly on the first page. Now I love graphic sex scenes, however, and I may have said this before; there is a balance that needs to be displayed for me to like the book as a whole. I need depth of character as well as hot lovin’. I need intimacy as well as carnal actions. And this book had all of that, but it was nearly too late in the story for me to start caring about the characters. I barely finished it TBO.

The chemistry was on point. It was a bit overused though, to the point where I was wondering what else they really had in common that would make this a lasting relationship. GEmma knew him but he didn;t really make any effort to know her outside of work or sex. Total turn off form me as an alpha lover.

In fact, Jack Grant was a grade A dick when it came to behaving towards women. His back story explains this a little in flashbacks but I don’t think it was enough for me to forgive him for treating them that way. So I was already a bit salty toward him from gate.

And Gemma was a bit of a pushover when it came to pleasing her boss (pun intended) so that didn’t endear me to her character either. She had some serious ambition though, which I can relate to in a work atmosphere. And she wore her black sheep status like a damn face tattoo, something that also moved her into the likability category for me. So I wanted to push through and see if my mind could be swayed. Which, if an author can make me feel for the characters after I’ve already made a decision on them is a big deal for me.

And she did change my mind towards them in the end, but because it took so long for us to get THERE, it impacted my attitude towards this story in a much more negative way. And I think I’m pretty lenient when it comes to rating so for this to happen is kind of a bummer for me.

Off Limits is a sizzling introduction to the Harlequin Dare line. It's off the charts hot and the sexual chemistry between Jack and Gemma leaps off the page.
I've been very excited about the new Harlequin Dare line and this is my first foray into one of the books. The book started off on the wrong track for me because Jack and Gemma are very angsty, angry characters.
Jack is a total manwhore who is screwing his way through half the city's women because he's suffered a tragic loss in his life and isn't dealing with his grief well. He's become insanely attracted to Gemma recently and is selfish enough to act on those impulses even though she works for him. Jack has a hard time with relationships. He thinks he can keep things unemotional and "just sex" but unfortunately, that sort of thing never happens does it? His feelings for Gemma takes him by surprise and when push comes to shove, he doesn't handle it very well.
Gemma is extremely attracted to her boss, Jack but is well aware of his love 'em and leave 'em ways. She does her best at resisting her attraction to him but when they clash and finally come together is filled with anger and frustration. Gemma thinks she can go into the relationship with it being purely sexual but as she gets to know the softer side of Jack with him opening up to her, she falls hard for her boss.
There's nothing gentle about the feelings between Jack and Gemma. The tone of the story is harsh and angry right from the start. The sex is hard and angry as well with both of them seeming like they have something to prove or something to get out of their system. It does soften in the second half of the story as Jack and Gemma settle into their relationship and as Jack opens up. I'm not impressed with the way Jack handles things as word of their relationship gets out and it's back to harsh and angry again. Fortunately, Jack does come around and he does an excellent job of groveling.
While this may not have made it into the ranks of a favorite book that wowed me, I loved the heat and sizzle of the story. I'll be willing to read more of Ms Connelly's work and hoping there's less angst in her next Dare book but I'm definitely interested in reading more of the Dare line from other authors as well.

If you're looking for a quick, sweet, down and dirty novel to get you through a weekend, Off Limits will do the trick. Jack and Gemma have a professional relationship but tons of unprofessional sexual chemistry. Jack has a tragic past and Gemma has trust issues. What could possibly go wrong?

This is the first book of the Dare Series from Mills and Boone I've read. It is definitely hot and the story line was great. Office romance isn't quite descriptive enough as Jack, the boss, is a widower and has a lot of emotional issues to be addressed. Gemma, his in house counsel, is one tough, efficient lady who's been in lust with Jack since she started and kept it hidden, until now. A fast paced sizzling read I really enjoyed with an HEA that makes you sigh. I received an ARC thru Netgalley and am happily giving my honest review of Off Limits.

The editing and writing made it difficult to understand the novel. I had a hard time reading this novel.

I really enjoyed this book. Very easy read. It was fun and super sexy. Off Limits keep me engaged from the first page to the last. The characters were well developed. Gemma and Jack had explosive chemistry. This is my first book I read by Clare Connelly but won't be my last. I would recommend this book.

This was a steamy roller-coaster ride of a romance. Left me so many feels it's unbelievable. The relationship was so realistic and the emotional issues were so heartbreaking. Phenomenal writing.

Jack is the boss most people dread...cocky, annoying -- a grade A douche. However, underneath his hard exterior is a man with a lot of hurt and pain. Jack was amazing too me. Though there were moments when I wanted to slap him, I adored him for learning more about himself. He has such a big heart and really cares for those that he love.

Gemma is the right hand "man" to Jack and finds herself attracted to him, but for two years she's stayed clear of him because she knew what would happen if they crossed that line...or so she thought. Though she's insanely rich, she's the type of woman that wants to work for her own and not depend on her money or a man. I admired her. She was hardworking and open with herself.

The romance was beautiful. It starts off as this forbidden office romance between a boss and his employee, but as feelings start to surface they both begin to realize them and battle. I loved seeing them talk outside of sex and work. They were able to get intimate on a friendship level that I thought was inspiring. The sex of course was written beautifully, but for me the whole emotional baggage with Jack and Gemma breaking down his walls made this stand out for me.

Though this book was beautiful, that ending could have been ten times better. I wish there was a sequel for this book! Awesome and emotional read! Go read it.

First, I liked this book overall. The characters showed growth, it wasn’t insta-love. Insta-lust, yes, although it wasn’t acted on immediately in their lives.
I had trouble liking Jack, even at the end, as he was working through his issues. I did like that he realized that he had issues that he needed to address. I admired Gemma and really like her relationship with her grandmother.
Now to address what distracted me. In the prologue, Lucy’s sister is introduced as being hired to manage the foundation. Several pages later we are told who Lucy is. We are never told anything significant about the foundation. It gets talked about in general, but no details. That really bugged me, like it was a box to be checked off-“rich guy with dead wife must establish a foundation”. Also, Gemma mentions Jack’s large tattoo, and then, nothing, no tracing it idly, etc, that stuck in my mind. Again, like it was a box to be checked off-“rich troubled hottie must have a cool tattoo”. Last major annoyance was in Chapter 3, Gemma has to reschedule a meeting, supposedly to the next day, with a friend looking for work, and nothing is mentioned of her until toward the end, when it seems like Chapter 4 is the next day when the meeting should have occurred.
It seems that Gemma never talks to Cassie about Jack. She is otherwise written as fairly well rounded for a workaholic, and is friendly with the people around her, so it’s a little strange for her not to talk to who would seem to be a good friend.
A minor annoyance may have been just due to the formatting of the file. Some scenes/chapters ended somewhat abruptly and didn’t transition well, to me, to the next scene/chapter. I found myself going back and trying to figure out what I had missed. I do read fast, but I can usually process these changes easily.
So, a decent read, but not one I couldn’t put down to do other stuff.

I'm on the fence as to whether or not I want to rate this 3 or 4 stars, but after giving it some thought, I think it's deserving of 4 stars, as long as you can overlook the fact that Jack is a complete jerk for half the book.

Jack Grant is a billionaire widow who is a 'love them and leave them' type of guy. He doesn't want to move on from the love he had with his wife and so he just uses women. He specializes in one night stands and isn't afraid of showing off his naked body to his right-hand lady ("assistant" as he liked to call her) when she comes to wake him up in the mornings. Gemma has worked for Jack for 2 years and she lasted a lot longer than any of the other people he hired. She's officially his legal counsel, but pretty much does what needs to be done to make sure Jack's day runs smoothly and things get taken care of. She's also in lust with Jack, but views him as off-limits since he's her boss and she knows his 'one night' reputation.

They managed to avoid jumping into bed for 2 years, but one day Jack makes a go at Gemma and she lets him - but then views it as a mistake since Jack pretty much leaves her there and treats her like all the other women. This doesn't just happen once, it happens again and that's when I really began to dislike Jack. Now, I understand why Jack kept himself emotionally distant - he was still grieving his wife. But he took the coldness to the extreme and really treated Gemma poorly. Of course, he doesn't just want one night with her and they continue their trysts, but then Gemma's emotions get involved and Jack isn't having any of that, so he leaves. In my opinion, he didn't do enough to gravel after his big screw up, but they do get their HEA and it was very sweet.

I really liked Gemma. She was highly intelligent and had a great business mind, was not willing to conform to her high society parents' standards and she was great friends with her grandmother, which was too cute. I'm glad everything worked out for her and Jack, but for a while there, I thought she deserved more.

Overall, a pretty good read - the sex is hot and the ending is sweet. I look forward to reading more from the Harlequin Dare series of books.

A quick, sexy read perfect for beach or bathtub reading.

Boss and administrative assistant story with no real divergence from that stereotype. To help with this, the author has created memorable characters and a memorable backstory.

This is my first book by Clare Connolly and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I felt so much for Jack because he clearly was in pain after the loss of his wife, Their sex scenes together were especially steamy and I loved how the two both possessed such strong personalities! I enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it!

MY RATING : 4/5 STARS

I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This is my first harlequin dare novel or mills and boon so I'm pretty excited. Once Goodreads or the publisher gets their act together, you'll probably fall in love with the cover as much as I did. I was attracted to the cover as much as the synopsis because hello who doesn't love an office romance involving a super rich boss and his assistant?

OFF LIMITS was definitely a darker toned novel. There were hardly any light heart moments you might expect. Jack is going through a long grieving process after his wife passed away from cancer and Gemma, his assistant, is there to watch him waste his life by having sex with as many females as possible to forget his grief.

Obviously, things get heated and suddenly Gemma and Jack are getting hot and heavy basically anywhere they go. The sex scenes were spectacular and you can really feel the chemistry and intensity of each scene. If you're not a fan of fifty shades of grey, I'm sorry to quote this but this book had a lot of fifty vibes. Not a stalker or abusive boyfriend but just dark past, moody hero, Bondage, and submissive vibes.

In terms of why it wasn't a perfect 5/5 for me is probably because it didn't leave a big impact on me. I enjoyed the read and got through it but it's not something I would pump my first in the air for.

MY RECOMMENDATION
Definitely worth the buy and read!
