Sorry for delay in reviewing the read and I hope to review books from your publisher again. The book gave detail and added to the story of Samson without providing misinformation.

Thank you again.

Samson is a retelling of the biblical story of Samson and Delilah. The author did a wonderful job of creating a riveting story that showcases a very relatable person.

Biblical fiction isn't exactly my cup of tea, but I found this to be a mostly enjoyable story.

I am a huge fan of biblical fiction so I was excited to read this one, based on the life of Samson and Delilah. This book was written based on the movie by the same title. Although the author certainly takes creative license, it really brought the biblical story to life. I found myself going back and reading the account in scripture several times. I enjoyed this book, although I wouldn't teach from it, from an entertainment perspective.

Samson Is Mr. Wilson's attempt at retelling the Biblical story of Samson. Samson was born to Fight the philistines - he was given instructions by GOD from birth to do certain things and if he did GOD would honor him and give him Supernatural strength to use against the philistines for his people, but Samson was not perfect - he had an Achilles heel and the philistines tried to find out what it was to use against him. They used that Achilles heel to get the information that they needed to conquer that strength. Something disastrous happened but it was Samson's own fault, if he just would have followed GOD's rules to a'T' but GOD gives a miracle a major miracle through Samson in the end. This is so incredible and strengthening in your Spirit 1st and your love for your Lord well first too.

ERIC WILSON's SAMSON is truly one riveting story that tells a tale as old as time. One of my gavorite bible reds, Samson always fascinates me. He may be a gift from God, but that does not make him free of mistakes.

I grew up in a family of Catholic and I've known Samson's story since time immemorial. A classic bible story, one that I now share with my children, Samson, among all of the characters in the bible is a favorite.

For all of his flaws and misjudgements, he has a huge heart that often times than not, puts him into trouble. He does not heed advice very well and mostly opt to follow his own judgement.

Eric wilson made a great job making Samson relatable to people in this book. He let us see the struggle of being one of God's gift to people, and yet, not free of imperfections.

I already watched this on the big screen and I love how it was crafted.

This novelization however, was also tastefully done with great amount of historical background and the action scenes were flawlessly executed.

A must read for this upcoming Lenten Season, Samson will take you to the times were misjudgements and mistrusts will lead you.

Surprisingly good read. For those in the know this is the story of strong man Sampson, which leads to his relationship with Delilah, his downfall and more.

Though the biblical record of this character is comparatively short, this novel stretched out the story into a longer period and thus built up more of the characters, their relationships and the challenges of the period.

For those who are bionically literate to those who just want a good adventure - both readers will be satisfied with this version of Sampson.

I have been a fan of Eric Wilson for quite some time. I love how he brings to life the man who was Samson from the bible and tells his story in a way that the modern person can relate to him and his life. The vivid detail, the love story, the life of Samson and the ultimate betrayal by his beloved is what makes this book so much fun to read. Even though I knew the story from the bible, I found myself captured all over by this wonderful story! Thank you Eric Wilson for writing another wonderful page turner!

My first memories of the story of Samson come from my childhood and the biblical teachings I had. I even remember watching Victor Mature in the film version many years ago with my mum so spotting this colourful cover had me eagerly requesting this book about this tragic hero. I note however that the publisher/ film company are trying to cast this as something to rival the recent influx of superhero movies that are proving exceptionally popular. There's no doubt in my mind that Samsons ultimate sacrifice was heroic but to compare his actions and strength to such as Superman or Captain America really doesn't gel that well in my mind.
However I did enjoy reading this version and obviously it's not exactly as told in the Book of Judges as clearly it's an account that's meant to interest and perhaps titilate cinema goers . That being said the author has fleshed things out to give a story rich in historical detail without being too dry or boring . Samson is just a young man with a zest for life that unfortunately means he doesn't heed advice and goes his own way. Yes he has always had a burden hanging over him but his youthful enthusiasm and arrogance makes him flawed and leads him to make choices that have huge repercussions. There is romance here but it's in many ways just a vehicle for all the treacherous and jealous acts that follow. Samson has a hard road to travel but he's not alone which is were I perhaps stumble as we see glimpses of his family that at times felt incongruous as both his mother and his younger brother feature frequently yet I'm still left wondering what happens to them next. So in conclusion I did enjoy this book and felt the action scenes added greatly and I'm left wondering how it will all look when it appears on the big screen.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Samson
Chosen. Betrayed. Redeemed.
by Eric Wilson; Pure Flix
Charisma House

Christian , Entertainment
Pub Date 09 Jan 2018

I am reviewing a copy of Samson through Charisma House and Netgalley:

This is the original Superhero movie based on Samson and Deliah!

He has many names Lion Tamer, Fox Catcher, even man killer each name offers a measure of glory, but for Samson with a supernatural gift of strength, but there is more to the story. Samson is called to defend his people against the Philistines!

After experiencing tragedy at the hands of a cruel Philistine Prince, he strives to fulfill his calling but instead falls victim to his own desires.

As Samson draws closer to a Philistine temptress, with a secret, Samson begins drifting away from his destiny, and then an act of Betrayal will cost him everything he has worked for. At his weakest Samson must learn to lean on God.

I give Samson five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

The story of Samson doesn't fill a lot of pages in the Bible, but he is one of the more memorable characters in the Old Testament. Eric Wilson has written Samson, a novelization based on the 2018 movie about "the original super hero." I have not seen the soon-to-be-released movie, so I can't speak for it, but based on what I've read, Wilson and the movie's writers seem to have made an effort to capture the essence of the biblical account while humanizing the characters and dramatizing the story.

Samson struggles with his anointing as a judge over Israel. His eyes wander to the Philistine women and he falls in love with one. She happens to be a servant of the prince. When the prince learns of her love of Samson, he recruits her as a spy on Samson, who has proven to be a foe of the occupying Philistines. Many years later, the prince's own lover, Delilah, is sent for the same duty. Samson, of course, lets his love of these women cloud his judgment, leading to his downfall.

Samson's story is familiar. (If it's not familiar to you, go read Judges 13-16.) Wilson fills in the gaps of the biblical account, putting names and contexts on the bare-bones biblical narrative. I enjoyed the book, and look forward to seeing the story on the big screen. Based on the previews I've seen, in this case I bet the movie will be better than the book.
