Samantha realizes she is stuck: stuck in a loveless, possibly abusive marriage, stuck in life in general. Her husband is possibly cheating on her, but she finds she doesn't really care, finally acknowledging that she stayed with him for other reasons than love. She starts poledancing for exercise, but ends up getting a job at a club where she meets a bikerguy. He acts like a tough guy, no feelings, and of course she falls in love. But everything is not what it seems, not with this guy and not at home, how will this end?

I like characters that takes a stand for themselves and Samantha does that to a certain degree; she starts poledancing, gets a job, finds a man she is attracted to and enjoys life. But at the same thime she stays with a husband that barely conceals he's cheating on her and who hits her. I know it is a situation hard to understand untill you're in it, but I still disapprove of her choosing to stay.
I don't really feel I get to know Slater much, but that may be because he is an agent and has to be a bit mysterious and "in character" as a biker.

From the first scene where Samantha sees something confusing with their bankaccount you know there is a plot here somewhere concerning her husband and it is not hard to guess that Slater is undercover, since he is often by himself and loses the biker attitude several times when he's with Samantha. A bit too coincidental that he was working the case that her husband was involved in, what are the chances?... On the other hand, I do like the twist where Slater is dating Samantha's daughter to get information and is invited home to them for dinner. I mean, imagine their faces! And of course, you can't have a romance without some lifethreatening action at the and, which also was too predictable.

The sexscenes where not too crude nor rough, they were actually somewhat modest at times. No debasing or degrading scenes, which is can be associated with biker stories, the closest thing is the one dollar scene at the club and it doesn't really count.

All in all, I liked that the main character managed to find herself and be happy, but the rest of the story was a bit too obvious and sometimes over the top. The book didn't really stand out among all the others I've read.

Interesting story, I liked Slate although I wish we could have learned more about him. As for Sammie and her husband? Plain and simple I didn't like her husband and Sammie came across as not only frumpy, but a pushover as well.

It's the first book by Andrea Smith that I've read. This is a good start to a series. I didn't think I'd like it just judging by the synopsis. I definitely liked it more than I thought I would. It's an interesting plot with twists and was enough to keep me interested throughout.

This was a really great read a super start to the series. This is Samantha story she has empty nest syndrome after her daughter goes off to college so she starts going to the gym loses some weight and gets a job pole dancing. That's where she meets Slate a hot young biker, they have tons of chemistry and they start hooking up.This has a great plot it is a little far-fetched at times but it does work, with tons of action and plenty of twists and turn this is a good book and I cannot wait to read the rest in the series.

I really enjoyed this book. I would have liked to have seen more character depth for Slate. I also wish we would have seen more resolution with Jack and Susan. I loved the epilogue that was included at the end. I was so happy to see how things turned out for Diamond Girl though. I thoroughly enjoyed this book despite the things mentioned above.

Wow!! This was an excellent read!! The author creates a story that doesn't seem to be workable but is able to create a heartwarming & unique story (with some sexy heat as well)

I have already purchased the next book in the series.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Um no. Just no. Diamond Girl is awful. The characters are awful. The premise is awful. The sex is awful. It's all just awful.

Here's the situation...

Sammie has been married to her jackass of a husband since she was 16. He got her pregnant in what was rape, even though Sammie is so completely clueless that she doesn't even realize it was rape. Yes, she remembers not wanting it but then turns around and says she can't blame him for something he did when he was drunk. Um yeah. So now it's 19 years later and she's sent their daughter off to college and she's now experiencing empty nest syndrome and feeling like a frumpy housewife. In order to get her body back and get back into shape, she takes her best friend's advice and starts working out, doing kickboxing and pilates, and somehow falling into a pole dancing class. From that class she then graduates into taking a moonlighting job as a pole dancer with the stage name of Diamond. It's at the club where she meets Slate, and she ends up being "owned" by him. Basically what that entails is he owns her when it comes to sex. He texts her, tells her what to wear, and she comes over so he can sex her up. If he texts, she has to accommodate him or else. Now, as much as this whole idea irritated me, Sammie went along with it, even liked it. So I guess I can't complain too much. Whatever.

So at this stage in the story I'm already rolling my eyes, thinking Sammie's a doormat and that Slate is almost as much of a jackass as Sammie's husband, Jack. But then the drama happens. There's danger thanks to Slate's association with his MC and Sammie gets caught up in it because of her association with Slate. Does Slate turn out to be her protector? Her savior? Nope, not even close. Slate's an ass **** and Sammie's a doormat and Jack's a dud of a husband. But wait, there's more! Sammie's a cougar because she's 35 and Slate is 26. Yeah, her being a cougar makes everything so much better. And then the big, momentous thing happens to Sammie that is supposed to make things better between her and Slate. Slate the man who can't even sex her up properly. Their sex scenes are a big yawn. And he's supposed to be a sexy alpha?! I don't think so.

Sigh...Diamond Girl is a big, fat dud. The characters are beyond ridiculous. Slate's a complete and total ass. Jack's a sleazy rapist who treats his wife terribly. And Sammie? She's the biggest doormat, ever. My God. Nothing redeeming whatsoever about this ridiculous story. Yuck.
