This novel was haunting and beautiful at the same time. It is a great psychological suspense novel that will keep you hooked from the first page. I really enjoyed it.

I have read Christopher Greyson’s books before and I have to say that this book meets my expectations for him. He’s great at character development; leaving out certain details until just the right time, and slowly building their profile with consistency. This book was no different.
Our story started out with the main character, Faith Winters, in a psych ward. On her birthday, she had witnessed her father, her sister and a friend murdered at her home cabin. And not being able to cope with that at such a young age, she ended up needing mental health care. Her hometown seems to think she should still be there. With a personal alcohol addiction as her coping mechanism, a mother who used her story of being a witness as a catalyst for her writing career and lack of trust from those who know her best, Faith doesn’t have much to look forward to upon her release. But she gets released and begins her new life on the outside. Her goal to find the murderer (and prove that her father didn’t commit murder/suicide) is still number one in her mind, and she will go to whatever lengths necessary to find him.
As the story is told from her point of view, we get a look into Faith’s past. She has an ax to grind and a negative attitude toward pretty much everyone she meets. She comes across thoroughly as a jaded young woman, and I understood her snide comments, but over time as a reader, I was getting annoyed.
A few times in the story, she swears she sees the person who killed her father, but no one seems to be taking her seriously. And I began to feel sorry for her, because as someone who has struggled with alcohol in the past, I realize the loss of trust people have in you, and how you just want to be taken seriously, especially when you’re in the right. As the story progresses, you begin to wonder about the people in her life: the counselor, her sponsor, her “friends” at meetings, etc. Almost everyone seems to be involved in some way, and she begins to question herself. For that reason, I loved the suspense in this story, but I’m going to be completely honest: The ending was disappointing. And because I can’t reveal who it is, I have to admit that I just don’t know if the person responsible would actually be capable of doing it. I did see some signs throughout the book that made me suspect this person, but when it was actually revealed, I wondered what psychosis one would have to be under to commit such atrocities.
But I love the absolute ending where Faith gets her justice, and is able to move on, to actually LIVE.

Really great read. Kept me on the edge of my seat till the end. My one issue with the book was that it took me some time to settle into it and keep track of the characters but once I got that squared away, I was off on a wild ride.

Since the horrific murder of her father, sister and friend, Faith's anger, violence and self-destructiveness have caused her to be institutionalized more than once. She is released from her latest stay at a psychiatric hospital and returns to her hometown just days before the anniversary of the murder and almost immediately thinks she sees one of the murderers--but of course no one believes her and she must prove not only that she isn't crazy but find the men that destroyed her life. so she might finally have peace
This novel was quite the page turner with many twists and heart-thumping moments. The ending was a bit of a stretch but this was a solid, fast-paced thriller.

This was my first book by Christopher Greyson. I’m always on the lookout for new suspense authors that can keep me on my toes. I now consider Mr. Greyson one of those authors.
The story starts off strong and is filled with lots of wonderful misdirection and several plausible culprits. This gaggle of possible baddies caused me to repeatedly change my mind about the identity of the murderer who continues to harass Faith.
This is a dark mystery that also brings readers into the life of a person struggling with mental illness. After being incarcerated in psychiatric facilities for a decade, Faith continues to cope with mental health issues stemming from the horror she experienced when her sister was brutally murdered. She’s determined not be sent back to the psych hospital and tries to adhere to her strict regimen of therapy, parole and support group meetings. It’s a rough road for Faith but it’s her deep-seated desire to get justice for her sister’s death that propels her.
Faith was a good main character, but it took time for her to grow on me. Understanding where she’s come from and how she continues to struggle endeared her to me a bit. She’s dealing with a lot, including survivor’s guilt, feeling like an outcast in her home town and being misunderstood by almost everyone around her. She remains quite damaged and doesn’t always make the right choices, but she was a character I could get behind.
Overall, I was very impressed with this book. It’s an addicting, fast-paced read that pulls the reader into the story which includes a few scenes that will get readers’ hearts pounding! I could brag and say that I predicted the culprit, but I suspected so many of the characters that this boasting should be taken with a grain of salt.

The Girl Who Lived is definitely a great suspense read with a pile of twists and turns that you never quite see coming.
10 years ago there was a horrific murder that left 4 people dead, and Faith alive as the sole survivor. In and out of psychiatric facilities for her entire life, no one believes the truth that Faith knows in her heart - they never caught the person responsible for what happened. Now Faith is finally free, and determined to see justice served, except she doesn't know who she can trust, and no one trusts her, a suicidal, drunk, mentally troubled woman with a taste for trouble.
The story was well crafted and quick paced - the action never let up which was great for keeping my attention all the way through. I really enjoyed the continuing twists to the story as well, I certainly had no clear idea of the whodunit, until all was revealed in the end.
The only piece to this read that didn't quite click for me were aspects of Faith herself. While I love a tremendously flawed character, I felt like Faith was almost too far overboard in some of her actions and behaviours - it sometimes seemed to stray from the central core of her character, which was an utter determination to see the killers brought to justice.
Overall, however, I enjoyed the plot and would recommend this for readers who like a good twisted lead character, and a story where everything, and nothing, is true.

It almost reached 4 stars. I liked the first half. It's strong and rather gripping. My problem came in where I have all kinds of questions without answers and I don't like that. On the other hand, it had twists and I do like that. Faith is aptly named, I just wish I had a few more answers.
My copy came via Net Galley. My thoughts and review are my own, left of my own free will.

Unfortunately I couldn't get into the story line of this book.

This was my first time reading anything by this author, and I am so grateful for the opportunity. This was a psych thriller that didn’t disappoint! It was well paced, so I wanted to keep turning the page- not much lagging. The characters were fully fleshed out, which I have missed from some of the psych thrillers recently, and the story was twisty enough that it kept me guessing for a long time. I’ll definitely be reading more by this author.

This book was absolutely amazing. I cannot wait to check out other books by this author. This was my first experience with his work and it will not be my last.
Faith has been through hell. She's lost most of her family and her best friend. She witnessed events that no litter girl should ever witness. Even after everything that she had endured nobody believes her.
When Faith is released all eyes are on her. Waiting to see if she will mess up again. Waiting to see if she really is as crazy as they say. What they don't count on is her determination to find the truth. To prove to everyone that she isn't crazy and to bring justice to the loved ones that she lost.
The Girl Who Lived is an intense story about family, deception and the will to set things right. You will be guessing right up until the end. Like Faith, you won't know who to trust until its too late.

Half slasher movie, half psychological thriller and a whole lotta crazy. I was getting paranoid reading this because every page poor Faith was dealing with another dash of whodunnit and who is chasing me?! I found myself, along with Faith, not trusting any character I met. There wasn’t one reliable person in this entire story! And I loved that! Perfect mystery!
I loved loved the ending...total twisty hall of fame.
Thank you NetGalley for my free ARC copy! In exchange, this was my unbiased review.

My first read of this author. I love psychological thrillers and this one did not disappoint. I could not have anticpated the ending, though I tried all throughout the book to figure it out. This book pulls you in and doesn't let go until you come to the shocking conclusion. I recommend clearing your calendar the day you start it.
The main character, Faith Winters, is the only survivor of a horrible murder which left her dad, sister and two friends dead. She has had a hard time dealing with the trauma of this event and been institutionalized to recover. When she is released she must return to her hometown. As the anniversary of the murders is rapidly approaching, Faith is falling apart. She is drinking and things are just not making sense. It feels like her past is coming and the man - Rat Face - is coming back to get her.
This book had many twists and turns and just when I thought I had it all figured out it changed again.
Faith is a likeable, albeit flawed and sad character that you will root for, but you will always be second guessing yourself.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for providing my copy - all opinions are my own!
This is my first time reading a book by this author and I am so glad I did. It is a very fast paced, easy read which I loved! Faith returned to her small town a decade after four people were murdered in front of her. She suffers from so much grief and guilt that she is spinning out of control.
I found myself flipping through the pages to find out what happened next! I loved the plot and thought it had excellent character development! Highly recommended!

Wow, wow, wow! What did I just read? That's how I can best sum up Christopher Greyson's novel The Girl Who Lived. This is the first book I've read by this author and I'm thrilled to learn that he has written a whole series that I need to check out. This book has so many twists that my head was swiveling all over the place trying to keep up with it all. What a stunning conclusion this book has. If you enjoy reading thrillers loaded with suspense then this is the book for you. Read and enjoy!

An amazing thriller that will keep readers guessing to the end. All the evidence leads to Faith but it's hard to know what happened. Who can be trusted? This book is hard to put down. Highly recommended!

The Girl Who Lived was a great entertaining read. It was gripping, and full of suspense. It will keep you guessing til the very end!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

What an amazing ride this book was! There were twists and turns, ups and downs, people to trust and people you thought you could trust, and then gasps at some of the things that happened. This book held me hostage until the end.
Faith is the lone survivor of a horrible weekend at the lake house. Her father and sister were killed along with a friend and her daughter. Faith manages to escape. Years later she is released from yet another mental hospital, intent on finding the man responsible. That's when the intensity of the story escalates.
"How could anything happy happen on Death Day?"
I found myself constantly on edge, right along with Faith, not knowing who to trust or what the truth was. And the end totally got me! What a great story. I'll be checking out this author's other books.

This was an addictive read that I finished in one sitting! I was on the edge of my seat with this story and the plot was gripping! I love cold cases and this was a fantastic crime thriller.

This was a wonderful book. It was a little slow getting started but once the story got going, I could not put it down. I would urge all readers to go and this book ASAP!
