Faith, the title’s namesake, is a damaged antihero that I thought would only elicit pity. However the way the author developed his story and her character drew me in so completely that I found myself empathizing with Faith. The timing of the story development kept my interest peaked and my curiosity stimulated. I thoroughly enjoyed this harrowing tale of murder mind games.

The Girl Who Lived is a thriller that will have you cautious of everyone, right up until the very end.

The novel circles around the 10 year anniversary of a killing that landed Faith Winters in a psychiatric hospital (among other things). She watched her sister get brutally murdered then ran to avoid being next. The result was that her father, best friend, and best friend's mother were also killed that night. To make matters worse, her mother wrote a book about the whole ordeal. So everyone knows all the details of the worst moments of Faith's life.
With the anniversary quickly approaching, Faith tries tracking down who she thinks is the killer. She soon learns that things aren't what they seem and she definitely can't trust anyone.

The novel started out a little slow, but picked up speed at an alarming pace. Before you know it, you feel like it's going at 100 mph and you're accusing everyone. I saw that a few people guessed the ending. I guess I could say that, too because I thought it was everyone. You honestly won't know who to trust and who is deceiving Faith with their actions. Plus, how much of what Faith sees can be trusted? She has an alcohol problem (courtesy of a killer that she couldn't pick out of a line up because she never saw his entire face). I read the last page and felt like I just gotten off a crazy roller coaster ride.. but the good kind of crazy.

The only thing keeping me from giving this 5 stars was a particular character. If you read it, you know who I'm talking about. It just felt too forced and I'm not completely sure that it made too much sense (once you look back).

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the complimentary copy.

The last chapter of The Girl Who Lived is so unexpectedly sinister and fast paced, I would have given it 5 stars if it had been written in the "reverse chronology" format (begins with a killing then continues in reverse time) popularized by the movie Memento. While The Girl Who Lived starts with a bang (literally and figuratively), and ends with a whopper of a twist, the rest of the book is filled with cliched characters (an aloof step father and a shady police detective) and a fairly predictable plot. Christopher Greyson is the best selling author of the Jack Stratton series, but The Girl Who Lived is a stand alone novel. Mr. Greyson certainly knows his way around a murder mystery-and The Girl Who Lived gives him plenty to work with. After Thirteen year old Faith witnesses the gruesome murder of her sister Kim (an act that also claimed the lives of her father, best friend and her best friend's mother) she spends the next ten years in and out of prisons and mental institutions. Upon her release, Faith is determined to find the "rat faced man"-the killer's accomplice Faith ran from while her sister lay dying. But the police believe Faith's father killed her sister and friends before turning the gun on himself, so her pleas for help fall mainly on deaf ears. There's a line up of suspects-everyone from the mysterious leader of Faith's survivors group to Kim's grieving ex boyfriend-but none of them match the description of the man Faith saw that night. When the killer's identity and motive are revealed it's heartbreaking and stunning. I loved the last few pages of The Girl Who Lived because of the "other worldly" feel and inspiring message. It is only then that Faith truly becomes the girl who lives.

"Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Didn't."

What a great twisty suspense thriller by an author who's new to me. This is the second book I've read by Christopher Greyson and I want more!

Faith is 22 when she is finally released from the psychiatric center. She's been in and out over the years because of her inability to deal with her horrible past. She was the lone survivor -- 'The Girl Who Lived' -- when her father, older sister and friends were murdered in a cabin at the lake on the eve of her 13th birthday. The problem is, she has to return to Marshfield and her therapist mother to begin again. All she wants is to die, or forget -- but she can't because those who did it have never been caught. And she has seen one of them -- "Rat Face." The police don't believe her. They think she is still crazy as ever and an alcoholic with a suicidal bent. She trusts no one. In between working her assigned programs and running from herself and the memories, Faith is convinced that she is being hunted. Everyone she meets is suspect, because, after all, the killers must be close at hand.

Though I confess I knew where this was going despite the excellent red herrings, I still enjoyed the narrative. Faith is one determined young woman and she manages to stay alive despite all that is stacked against her. The characters were interesting and the book moved along at a very rapid pace so it was easy to read quickly. A really satisfying psycholgical thriller.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the ebook ARC to read and review.

Wow... just when you think you have it all worked out... plot twist! This book sucked me in.. so much happening. Faith is a survivor.. and she wasn't coping well with it. Drinking too much, medication and bad decisions. Thanks to Netgalley and Greyson Media Associates for a copy of this book to read and review

"It's Death Day. Did you bring me a present?"

Ten years ago Faith Winters was almost 13 years old and ended up being at the scene of mass murder, which included members of her family.

She just was released from a psychiatric hospital and has to head back to her hometown as part of the release agreement. She also has to go to AA meetings, Survivor meetings, and meet with her parole officer.

She finds herself spiraling downward quickly as the anniversary date of the murders quickly approaches, and since the killers were never caught, she doesn't know who to trust or who to get help from

I liked this story a lot. There was lots of crazy action and I thought the alcoholic behaviors and the support groups were portrayed very clearly and truthfully.

There was a lot of action and tense moments in this story about THE GIRL WHO LIVED and it kept me guessing to the very end.

I received this book from Greyson Media Associates through Net Galley in the hopes that I would read it and then write an unbiased review.

Faith Winters and her sister, Kim, were going to their parents’ cabin to celebrate Faith’s 13th birthday. It was going to be a very special day and Faith was excited. But when they arrived at the cabin, something didn’t seem right. As they approached, the door opened and someone grabbed Kim. Kim screamed for Faith to run……..

Ten years had gone by and Faith had never fully recovered from the horror she experienced that day. Faith’s sister, father, best friend and her best friend’s mother were all found murdered. But now, after being treated in a psychiatric hospital, Faith is being released. But she is determined to seek justice for the victims, and to find the murderer.

The Girl Who Lived is a first rate, fast paced psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final pages! Twists and turns abound as you reach the final, unexpected conclusion. Thank you to author Christopher Greyson, Greyson Media LLC, and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read the ARC of this suspenseful book!

Thank you to Greyson Media and Netgalley for a copy of the eARC in exchange for a fair review.

Faith has finally been released from the hospital. She has an apartment, a probation officer, and a therapist all courtesy of her mother. Faith hasn't been dealing well with the murder of her father, her best friend, her best friend's mother, and her sister. Especially since the local police believe that her father murdered them all and then committed suicide.

Faith has mostly accepted that, but she knows that her father didn't kill them. She saw the killer and she has seen him more than once. So when she heads out to get drunk and sees him again she is more determined to find him. Soon things start happening, her car is moved, someone breaks into her apartment.

As Faith digs deeper and deeper, and everyone thinks she is losing it and then the murders happen. Faith realizes that someone is out to frame her. She has to figure this out before it is too late.

Every time, I guessed I was wrong, and when it was finally revealed I was floored. I can't remember the last time I was shocked at a reveal like that. I loved this, Faith wasn't always likable but she was honest and raw and full of rage. I could understand given all that she had been through why she was like that.

I now need to read his other books, because this was so good. I loved every horrifying minute of it!

Thanks to NetGalley, Greyson Media, and Christopher Greyson for the opportunity to read his latest thriller! I'm a big fan of the Jack Stratton series and this stand-alone thriller is just as exciting.

Faith is the lone survivor of brutal murders that took place at her family's cabin. She is released from a psychiatric hospital right before the 10th anniversary of the murders. She is ravaged with guilt and anger which she handles with alcohol. She is desperate to find the killers but the police think she's crazy and won't listen to her; her psychologist thinks she's suicidal; her mother is totally disconnected. While on her own searching for the killer, she starts feeling she's being targeted as well.

This is a great thrill ride that you won't want to put down until you find out all the answers - and I was totally surprised by the ending!

4-4.25 STARS

The day that Faith Winters turned 13, was also the day that her life was irrevocably shattered. It’s been 10 years since the brutal murder of her family and friends; 10 years, since she narrowly escaped the same fate. Yet, the gruesome events of that day are never far from mind. Each day that Faith “survives,” is just another reminder of who she has become. Ten years ago, on April 13, she ceased being Faith. Now, she’s just an empty shell, known only as “the girl who lived.”

Alcohol is Faith’s only friend, and self-destruction has becomes her norm. In and out of psychiatric hospitals, every day for Faith is a struggle. Her only focus is singular: find the “rat faced man” responsible for destroying her life. With a police force that doesn’t believe her, Faith is met with resistance at every turn. And while odd occurrences have everyone questioning if Faith is really sane, it's Faith who must question who she can truly trust.

While I found the story’s premise to be quite intriguing, it was slow to play out. Although well written and suspenseful in content, the pace of the story made it difficult to remain engaged. So, while the story initially drew me in, it failed to consistently hold me in its grip. Still, with a cast of characters that took turns falling under my suspicious eye, “The Girl That Lived” kept me guessing right up until the very end. But, mostly, it’s a fascinating portrayal of the psychological effects of living through a life-altering trauma.

Faith is a very interesting protagonist. A wild character! Fun to read.

What a fantastic roller coaster ride!

I was caught off guard, I laughed, and I cried. I wanna blame PMS, but you guys... this ending is powerful.

I wanna be just like Faith, minus the tragedy she endures. This girl is the strongest woman I've ever encountered. When faced with a situation where you can literally trust no one, what would you do? Faith? Well she fought and fought hard. I want to hug her, and tell her I'm proud of her and I admire her.

I don't even think I can put into words how much I loved this book. Suspicion is cast upon so many characters, and they all fit the bill. But the reality of the thing is so much crazier than anyone could anticipate!

I'd never say this in real life, but thank god for hidden cameras :)

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I must say that this book started out slow for me and it took me time to warm up to the main character. This book is about Faith, the lone survivor of a brutal murdering spree and her quest for justice. It depicts her battles with depression and mental illness as well. I found it hard to relate to her at first and also hard to like her, but she grew on me as the story went on and I became more engaged with her and the story. In the end, I really enjoyed the book and I was actually surprised by the ending (and I usually can see the twist a mile away) so that was really fun. Definitely recommend!

This is a most amazing story, full of suspense, deceit, mistrust and a profound fondness for the main character, Faith. Faith is badly flawed, she survived the murder of her father, beloved sister, a friend and her mother. She is released from a mental institution determined to find the killer. The police do not believe her story as to how she survived. She feels guilty having survived, uses alcohol to ease her pain and has no idea who she can trust. If you are a fan of tense thrillers, this is for you. I am now going to devour other books by Christopher Greyson!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced ebook copy in exchange for my honest review.

I've read one other book by Christopher Greyson (JACK OF HEARTS) and despite it being part way into a series, I really enjoyed his writing style and the pacing of the mystery! So when I saw this new standalone novel out I had to request it.

A decade ago, four people were brutally murdered, but one girl lived. As the anniversary of the murders is approaching, Faith Winters is finally released for a psychiatric ward. Unfortunately, she is brought back to her home town - the last place on Earth she wants to be. She is grief stricken with survivor's guilt and this has made her spiral into alcoholism and self-destruction. With the pressure of no one believing her story, thinking she's unhinged, suicidal, and a dangerous drinker, she decides to find her sister's killer. As she begins her search, so begins to realize that she's not the only one doing the hunting - this turns into a cat and mouse thriller as there's a race to find the killer before the killer finds her.

I don't want to give away anymore information than that! This was a fast read and I kept turning the pages to see who was the killer. So many people, even Faith, were suspects and it wasn't one you could figure out right away. Greyson's writing is great - it pulls in the reader right away. The loose ends get tied together well for the ending and I enjoyed it. I'll always be a fan of the more cat and mouse thrillers and mysteries because it keeps the suspense up throughout.

Overall, if you want a fast cat and mouse thriller, then look no further! Murders, a sole survivor who saw the killer, and everyone doubting her. You get the unreliable narrator vibes in this one as well - is she the witness or the killer?

I give this one a solid 4/5 stars!

I absolutely loved this book! It kept me interested and the twists and turns just kept on coming in this one. Sad and heartbreaking at time- I wasn't sure what direction the story was going to go and who was the mastermind. The truth and reality were what kept the story moving and this was hard to put down!
